After my then-fiancé setup an appointment with Sherry for us to sit down and discuss our wedding day, I admit, I was relieved. Our first several encounters with a variety of photographers and left me, more or less, ripe with frustration. The prospective cost, the costs on top of that costs and the feeling of being nickel and dime'd into oblivion were starting to pile on. So, when the discussion started pertaining to what exactly was offered by Allusion with Sherry, my apprehension quickly melted away. She knows what she's doing. After looking over the amazing pictures her and the photographers in her employ had taken in the past in conjunction with the packages they offered, I quietly nodded to my fiancé and smiled. Everything was shaping up perfectly to the point that when she offered us the bridal expo discount on her top tier package, all of which is comprehensive with a ton rolled in, we accepted and put down our deposit. The exact details of the package are staggering, we just got so much for the money we put down, but even the lower tier packages struck me as significantly better than what any other photographers had offered us in the process of searching for someone to capture the special moments on our wedding day. On our wedding day, we had two photographers to capture both the bridal party as well as my groomsmen and I. Sherry herself was one of the photographers that day, given her familiarity with our venue, Stan Mansion. They followed us both throughout the day and into the evening capturing such an incredibly amount of pictures, that I couldn't help but be further impressed when we started going through them all on the website about a week after returning from our honeymoon. Besides the posed pictures, they never once became obtrusive or got in the way of myself, my bride, the fellow vendors or really anyone. They were the photographer equivalents of Batman, visible when they needed to be, but otherwise unnoticeable unless absolutely necessary. It was positively perfect. Speaking of perfect, the pictures they took were leagues beyond what my now-wife and I had hoped for. We've poured over them since receiving our proofs to finalize our wedding album and can't help but laugh and smile over the incredible skill displayed in the photographs. Well beyond putting disposable cameras on the table and well worth the quality any amateurs could have hoped to deliver upon. When my wife and I look back on our wedding pictures and the album therein ten, twenty or fifty years from now, we'll be thankful that we opted to go with Allusion Photography. On a personal level, Sherry could not have been more warm and professional to work with to capture our wedding and thereafter. She brings an outstanding class to her profession that easily trounces the casually maverick attitudes of many other photographers we'd discussed wedding details with. As I said, she knows what she's doing. Even during the meeting after the wedding to pick up proofs and discuss any outstanding details, she was more than receptive to deliver exactly what we wanted and to do so remarkably well, continuously ensuring that we were ultimately satisfied. Looking back, after everything we went through trying to find a photographer, I'm grateful to my wife for having stumbled upon Allusion. Every interaction we had with Sherry was pleasant and every dollar we spent was well worth it, and when planning a wedding, there's nothing quite like piece of mind knowing the people who will be working with you on that big day are friendly professionals. We worked with Sherry (and Dora) from Allusion for our 9/28 wedding. We haven't yet seen the pictures (with the exception of the same-day slideshow at our reception) but after working with Allusion for the last year, I'm confident in reviewing them now! They are amazing. We met Sherry at a bridal expo and were immediately blown away by her work, professionalism, and attention to detail. She is an absolutely amazing photographer and an even better person. We took our engagement photos back in October, the week I found out my grandfather was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I was not in the best spirits, but Sherry immediately put me at ease. What's more? Sherry edited our photos in less than a week, so that we could bring them with us to visit my grandparents. She also gave us several framed photos as a gift to my grandfather (which she told me to take credit for!). It meant so much to my grandfather; I will never forget it. Above and beyond that, her work is absolutely stunning. She has a knack for seeing and capturing amazing shots...and she'll do anything to get them! She gives you a wonderful mix of high fashion and traditional shots; we cherish our engagement photos and can't wait for our wedding shots! On the day of our wedding, we received the same level of service we had grown to expect. The team arrived on time and ready to take on the day; they didn't stop until they felt the job was done, which meant staying until nearly the end of the reception - a 16 hour day for Sherry and Dora! We booked Allusion Photography for our wedding on November 8, 2014. Booking this, was the best decision we ever made about our wedding. I cannot even begin to express how amazing our photos are. I am someone who does a lot of research and does not pick the first thing that comes around. When it came time to book our wedding vendors, I did a ton of research - especially on photography. My husband and I met with several other photography studios before we chose Allusion. It never quite clicked for us with any of them. I even met with the photography studios that were highly rated on all of the wedding websites. But it never quite seemed like any of them were the right studio for us - due to different reasons, not being able to choose a certain photographer, pricing, how their portfolio looked, uncertainly on certain details, etc. One thing I did not want was uncertainty. Sherry was recommended to us by a co-worker of mine. She worked his wedding about 2 years ago and he had so many nice things to say about her. So I decided to set up a meeting. I was a little skeptical about the cost at first, but I knew that the one thing we would splurge on was the photography because it is worth it. Once your wedding is over, the photos remain. Our meeting with Sherry, the owner, went very well - I liked her personality a lot. I could tell she was a professional and she was not pushy about booking us. She let us think things through for a few days and actually ended up putting together a custom package that best suited our needs. As soon as we signed the contract, I knew I would be in good hands. I felt some relief come over me. Booking a great photographer was one thing that had me worried for many days during the wedding planning. All of my communication with Sherry and her staff was excellent and prompt. They answered emails the same day or the next day and took care of every question or issue that I had. I could not be more pleased. We had planned the rundown of my wedding day schedule down to a T. When the big day finally came, everything worked out beautifully. Our photographer was Sherry. She arrived at my hotel room on time and began doing her thing. She was organized, professional, and helpful. I was uncertain about a lot of things - weddings can get crazy and stressful. However, Sherry kept her cool and just guided us through the day. She was open to my suggestions as well at times. Mostly, I let her do what she does best - taking amazing shots that captured every moment of my wedding day. These memories will truly last me and my husband a lifetime. I received my wedding proof website exactly 14 business days after the event. When I first began looking through the pictures, my eyes just started to water. I knew our wedding was beautiful and all but seeing those pictures just left me speechless. I could not even recognize myself. We received so many compliments on our photos. All of the pictures came out gorgeous and stunning. One thing I had been worrying about before booking Allusion was that the photos would not come out well and that I wouldn't have detailed memories of the day. However, after seeing all of our images, there was no need for worry. I truly cannot express how happy we are with our photos. There are really no words. At every location, Sherry got the best lighting, scenery, and angles. She did not waste anytime - she knew exactly how to pose us, the bridal party, flower girl, family, etc. She has a lot of creativity in her and she has been doing this long enough to know what works and what doesn't work when it comes to wedding photography. She is a real pro and it shows. Sherry was with us for 8 hours and took many pictures during that time, capturing everything from me getting ready into my dress to the end of the night when our guests were dancing and enjoying themselves at the bar. If I could do this all over again, I would most definitely 100% pick Allusion Photography again in a heartbeat. They did a fabulous job for us on our wedding day. Capturing those precious memories is truly priceless. Do yourself a favor and book them. There might be things you regret looking back at your wedding day but you will not regret this decision. read more

My wife and I are from outside of the area but my wife is originally from Chicago. I happened along the Allusion Photography site and I was instantly amazed at the photos. I showed my wife when she got home and she just couldn't believe the photos either. After speaking with Mike and then Sherry, we were hooked but before we booked I wanted to do a my research. Apparently, Sherry is a "known" photographer which we were instantly amazed at our luck. Before our wedding, Allusion had worked with my wife to day the whole day. We knew everything that was going to happen and when it was going to happen. It made it completely effortless for my wife and I (and our guests). We stuck the schedule and had a blast. We just got our pictures back and OMFG. My wife sat down with the album and we instantly started crying. I think it was a mixture of the beauty of the images and a realization of the moment. My wife said, "I didn't think I could be that beautiful." ME: "Yeah, your a hottie." My wife to the album to work the next day and the unique wedding album was a hit. Several of the other girls in the office had just been married but give her high marks on the album and the photography. All in all, I wanted to thank Sherry and Mike and the Allusion Folks for helping me look like a hero to my beautiful new wife. (Because I found them!) read more

I hired them to do my wedding photography and videography. I was impressed by the (few) beautiful pictures they had displayed on their website and in their studio. Now, after having a little more experience with them, I realize that most of those photos were taken by their owner Sherry. However, if you don't pay top dollar for her services, the work you actually receive is quite sub par. We had Mike take our engagement photos and while he was a very nice guy to work with, it was very apparent that he was not worth the $4300 we had paid for the photo package. The poses we were put in were very boring average poses, not creative or documentary style. Really just boring and somewhat awkward. I knew immediately after the photo shoot that I wasn't happy with them and called Sherry and explained why and what I was looking for. She assured me that she would be there at the meeting when we went over the engagement pics so that we wouldn't have to be one on one with the photographer we weren't happy with explaining that we didn't want to use him for our wedding day. Well, this didn't happen. Sherry cancelled our meeting, had Mike call us (who was not very happy with us and showed it in his attitude on the phone) to schedule a time with him to view the photos. Needless to say, it was very uncomfortable and he was aware of the fact that we weren't happy with the pictures. We felt pressured into either choosing to upgrade to Sherry or using Mike. At this point, there had been other miscommunications on payment schedules etc. We just felt very uneasy trusting them. Sherry did attempt to offer a small concession to keep our business but when we didn't choose to accept it, she did not offer to refund any of our deposit back which we ended up losing $1000 just to get out of this contract. If you are Interested in using them I would suggest finding out who your photographer will be and asking to see their work before you pay $1000. I should have done that and really regret it. read more

We had Allusion Photography photograph our wedding and it was the best decision that I made. Our engagement session took place in Wisconsin. Sherry was nice enough to take time out of her family outing to photograph us out and about in our snowboarding gear. We got so many good photos. There were times when Sherry had us climbing through trees and it was hard to picture what she was going for but she had it all figured out. They were absolutely gorgeous. These photos are something you would see out of a snowboarding magazine. Beautiful! After out engagement session I knew that we had made the right decision about who to have photograph our wedding. The day of the wedding Sherry showed up right on time with a plan for everything. She seemed to have it all figured out already. It took her no time to get all of the pre-wedding shots and continue us on to the church. Her crew always seemed to be on the same page and had everyone moving where they needed them to be as efficient as you could with a big party. She was great! We continued on to Morton Arboretum and again it seemed as if she was there the day before to stake it out and she knew exactly where she wanted to go. We not always saw where she was going with some of the shots but when we got our photos back, boy did we see it then. Out of this world. We did the same day slide show also. By the time of the reception she had somehow taken a ton of pictures that were absolutely gorgeous. Not sure how she had time to edit them but they were great. Everyone at our wedding was raving about her and said they couldn't wait to see our pictures. Neither could we! Sherry was not only very professional and organized but she was also very fun to work with. She fit in with our wedding party so well that it was great. We didn't want her to leave.. Definitely money well spent and we can't wait to see our wedding album complete. Thanks Sherry! read more
