Oxtail and Curry Goat combo on rice and peas
    Sabrina C.

Family friendly, some food does have some mild heat, plan accordingly if getting food for young kids. We got a Jerk Chicken and a combo box of Curry Goat and Oxtail, all with rice and peas and coleslaw. The jerk chicken is boneless, flavour was decent, heat was mild, but it doesn't have that smoky char that I'm used to when I get jerk chicken. The oxtail and curry goat were fork tender, and not spicy, my 3yr old was able to enjoy some. The coleslaw was not as sweet as I'm used to, but it was still a refreshing crunch. Seating is very limited, but we were able to snag one of the tables.

I finally made it to Allwyn's in Pickering to try their Jamaican food! They have six locations across the GTA and this one, I believe, is the newest. I had their Curry Goat, while my friends had the Jerk Chicken, and a combo of Curry Goat and Oxtail, all with Rice and Peas and Coleslaw. The curry goat was flavourful. So was the oxtail. Interestingly, the chicken was boneless. I really liked their creamy coleslaw and their hot sauce had a very nice flavour. On my way out, I got a small order of Curry Chicken, and an order of their Beef Pumpkin Soup for dinner that day. Both were generous servings of tasty goodness! Overall, it was pretty good.

We were looking for some Caribbean takeout on a Friday night. This place has multiple locations. There was a lineup once you enter and there are a few small tables for people who want to eat. Most of the customers were takeout. We ordered the Jerk chicken and jerk pork dinner. The jerk chicken and pork is baked in house. The dinner consists of rice and beans coleslaw and freshly sliced jerk chicken and pork. At first glance you would think the meat is dry but once you bite into all the flavours start to pop. It's no wonder Allwyn's got multiple locations as the quality is in each and every bite. There are jerk wings available Wednesday to Sunday. $5.99 Soup specials from Tuesday to Sunday. There's jerk chicken sandwiches and beef patty with coco bread. Jerk chicken, curry chicken, curry goat and veggie roti options are available as well. Compared to other local Caribbean restaurants the prices are very reasonable and affordable. You might get a slighly smaller portion but this dinner still had leftovers when I was done. If you're looking for some delicious Caribbean food at a good price then give this place a try.

Had my first helping of the new location in Pickering This brought back memories from my days frequenting the location on Underhill when I was living in North York Jerk is good as ever at this place..... Had the jerk sandwich..... Jerk chicken with the slaw on the coco bread Definitely hit the spot I took another 1/2 pound home as well Used it and tossed in on my burger at night You cannot go wrong with hitting this spot up for your jerk chicken or Jamaican food fix Whether it's jerk chicken, oxtail, jerk pork, or just a solid little pattie.....Durham you have to hit up Allwyn's

A busy place in Pickering but it might also be because I went during dinner rush. Really good Jamaican food. My sister tried their patties and said they're really good. Just wanted to let everyone know their chicken patties have suet (beef) in them in case you have dietary restrictions. The plantain is delicious - soft and sweet with some crispy caramelized edges. Jerk chicken with rice and peas yummy. You should really go and try Allwyn's Pickering. Super nice staff.

No HALAL meat. Tried a stuffed jerk chicken sandwich for the first time in my life. It was a beef patty, stuffed with shredded jerk chicken and coleslaw inside of a Coco-bread bun. $8.69. I ordered the spicy and it wasn't that spicy at all, even the jerk. Overall the ground beef and jerk chicken was tasty. To be honest, the Coco bread is unnecessary and it's probably more flavourful without. It clouds the taste of the beef patty and filling, but I know its commonly eaten with it. They are losing one star on account of the fact that they don't have any Halal options which a West Indian shop in an area like Pickering and the GTA, definitely should. I hope they soon decide to get some Halal options and open it up to more diverse customers. OTHER SHOPS WITH HALAL OPTIONS: - Patty Cake and Ice Cream (on 2600 Eglinton Ave E) - Fahmee Bakery and - Meathead (1210 Markham Rd) They have fresh and packaged HALAL beef patties. Two tables with four seats each. Credit and debit only. Lots of parking.

Great food, the only thing I could ask for is slightly bigger portions (I know that's not easy though)

This time, I came with a group of friends, allowing us to order several dishes. Here's what we had: · Dungeness Crabs in Spicy Garlic · Lobster with Ginger and Green Onion · Alex Chicken with Veg Fried Rice · Special Chicken Fried Rice · Cantonese Chow Mein · Sweet and Sour Basa · Goat Curry with Roti · Beef Short Ribs · Pepper Shrimp · BBQ Duck · Mixed Vegetables · Hot and Sour Soup · Seafood Soup As often as I come here, this was my first time having some of these dishes. Everything was absolutely delicious, with the seafood dishes being the top favourites of our group. Their platters of two lobsters or two crabs for only $34.95 are a great deal, especially the crabs. Don't miss their Beef Short Ribs, Goat Curry, Goat Curry, and everything else on the list above. It was all excellent! You have to try it for yourself. Their menu is also Halal! To quench your thirst, they offer a range of soft drinks, including Caribbean favourites, as well as adult beverages - wine, spirits, beer, etc. Their buckets of (5) beer are a popular choice among diners, with several brands available. Check them out at 985 Brock Road in Pickering!

One of my friends had been here before and recommended that we give Guyanese Chinese cuisine a try. I was game! I had no problem finding the eatery. It's in a small plaza with Grillies next door. I actually parked in front of Grillies and walked over to Caribbean Heat. The eatery was busy for a Sunday afternoon. It was a good sign. My friends and I ordered a ton of food, to the point where we had to get boxes to take home the damage that we had done... haha! We ordered these items: - Beef short ribs - Special chicken fried rice - Alex chicken with veggie fried rice - Goat curry with roti - Crabs in spicy garlic sauce - Cantonese chow mein - BBQ duck (half) - Pepper shrimp - Mixed vegetables - Hot and sour soup - Seafood soup - Sweet and sour basa - Lobster with ginger and green onion This eatery has a number of specials. We took advantage of most, except for the wings. The specials: - Pepper Shrimp - $8.99 for 15 pieces - Half-priced chicken Wings - Bucket of five beers for $29.99 - Two lobster or crabs for $34.95 - Alex chicken with veggie fried rice (lunch special) - $12.95 before tax Alex chicken is the chef's special. I don't know who Alex is. However, the dish consists of boneless chicken that's stir-fried with lots of onions and spices. It does have a bit of heat to make it a wonderful dish. The veggie fried rice that accompanied the chicken was delicious, too. I loved everything that we ate and will note some highlights: - The sweet and sour basa was excellent. The fish was flaky and boneless, and the flavours were perfect. - The lobster with ginger and green onion was fantastic. One friend was allergic to shellfish, but risked it because this dish was so good. I'm guessing that he has a mild allergy because he's fine. - The goat curry was excellent. Not gamey. Tender. It came with roti on the side that I enjoyed sopping up the sauce with it. - The BBQ duck was yummy. I haven't had duck in a long time. It was tender and I loved the skin. - The pepper shrimp were gigantic! I loved how tasty this dish was. It had lots of green bell peppers and onions that I enjoyed with the shell-on shrimp. I used the washroom a couple of times during our three-hour stay. It was clean. No complaints! We had a terrific time chatting, enjoying one another's company, and feasting on a bunch of scrumptious dishes. The menu had fried banga Mary as an appetizer. I'd like to try this dish that shares my first name. I'll be back for more when I'm in the area. (172)
