When our son first started at La Petite in Beavercreek when he was 2 1/2 things were pretty good…read more He liked his teacher; the director was good; our son seemed to be learning new things. However, when he turned 4 and switched to the front "room" (aka open space) with the older kids, things went downhill. The teacher turnover rate was high; the kids are in an "open" area near the front lobby, so there are lots of distractions; and it was often very chaotic when we dropped him off, which would immediately send our son into overdrive! Our son has ADHD and really needed a calm, competent, experienced teacher (or at least some ADHD accommodations) to help him, but that never happened. In fact, we would sometimes get phone calls to come and pick our son up because they couldn't manage his behavior. One time he 'spit' at a teacher (not acceptable but also not surprising considering that when my husband dropped him off several boys were running, screaming, and slamming bathroom doors)! He'd only been at school one hour when we got the call to come get him. Guess the teacher had no clue what to do with a 4-year-old boy who spits. I had to quit working that day, but still had to pay La Petite, of course! And, even more frustrating, by the time we got there, our son had already moved on from the incident and was happily playing outside on the playground. He didn't even know why he was being picked up. When we talked to the director and told her that our son was doing great (with no complaints from his teacher) on the mornings he went to his other specialized school, we were told by the director that La Petite is more of a "play based" school and that our son probably should be in a more structured school. Ironically, that is not what La Petite advertises on their website. They appear to promote STEM learning, and "meeting the needs of every child" but I can tell you from first-hand experience, and from the comments from several other parents we know, that is not what's happening there much of the time. It seems many of the teachers are just in "survival mode" in a space that often resembles a zoo. So, here's my advice: Do NOT choose this school if you: 1) Have a child with any special needs, including ADHD 2) Want your child to learn in a well-organized, calm, clean environment 3) Want to be able to work the hours you need to at your job (without getting phone calls to come get your kid) 4) Want a steady, calm, competent teacher with years of experience who understands the behavior of small children and knows how to manage them 5) Want to get what you pay for -- La Petite is NOT cheap!

Before CSC, she attended a larger, chain daycare. I work and go to school full-time, so my daughter is no stranger to long days spent with the daycare staff and other children! However, since she's been attending this daycare I don't worry about her being there too long, or being unhappy while she's there. This daycare is absolutely my daughter's second home. She loves the other kids, but most importantly, she loves the staff. Miss Bonnie, the director of Centerville Safe Care, treats these children as her own. She's interested in their lives, their hobbies, ambitions, pets, everything! These children aren't just her job, she genuinely enjoys every one of those kids, and they all know it. They all feel special there. My 9 year old will spend an hour at CSC before they drive her to her elementary school at 8AM, and she will be picked up from her school by them to spend her afternoon, until I get off work or school, as well. When the city schools are closed for a holiday like President's Day, the daycare is open. If the schools have a snow day, the day care is open. Even if I have the day off and my daughter doesn't have school, she still wants to go to daycare! There's so much for them to do. They constantly have fun experiments to do, or a field trip to go on, or games to play. The tagline for this daycare says, "Centerville Safe Care- Where childhood is a journey, not a race." Nothing could be more true. Your son or daughter will not just be a face in the crowd here. They will be loved and embraced for who they are. This daycare is such an integral part of my daughter's day-to-day life, I could not be more thankful that they have taken that opportunity to be such a positive and fulfilling experience for her. She and I will both cherish the memories, friends and mentors she has made her for the rest of her life. I have no doubt you and your child's experience will be any different.

I have cried every time she grows out of one room only to cry again when she leaves that room. The school keeps a detailed schedule so you can see what your little one is up to and every teacher and person on staff takes a personal interest in your child. I have walked in after being on vacation and had a member of the kitchen crew say, "Harper, we missed you last week" to my daughter. During the summer there are so many different activities for the kids and every Wednesday is chapel. I also have strict diet requirements for my daughter and they have been very accommodating with all of that! If World of Love has a spot open I highly recommend sending your child here!

We moved to the area and had her enrolled in a different daycare waiting for her slot at Primrose to open and could not get her out of that short-term location fast enough. At Primrose, we get a daily report emailed to us about what they did that day, food served along with what amounts she ate, and diaper changes. At both drop off and pickup, our daughter smiles, waves, or hugs the staff - its obvious to us that she is well cared for and feels safe and comfortable there. The classroom divisions by age/development have been great. You don't have to worry about a cattle-like situation of a room full of 50 1-5 year olds. I personally prefer that this location is a locally owned franchise. The owner is there daily, and she has a stake in the success of the school. The other location was a corporate run daycare where top to bottom the staff seemed to be at a job they could take or leave. In the year we have been there we have seen little to no turn over and promotions within the current staff. This was important since the place she was before had a different person at pick-up every other day.

Went off of a recommendation from a friend...I was put into a situation where I needed daycare in a short amount of time and this facility had an opening so I enrolled him against my better judgement..My son went there for 3 days ..he was not taken care of properly. The first day...I picked him up...the teacher that had him was sitting in a chair while there were babies and toddlers running all over the place half dressed..dirty...crying...my son is 15 months old...so I guess they combine infants and toddlers at the end of the day so my son's teacher could leave...I got him home and changed his diaper...when I took him that morning..he was 100% fine...i got him home and changed him...he had a diaper rash so bad his butt was bleeding...had dried poop on his bottom and in the diaper...I contacted the director and told her what i found, she said she was sorry and would make sure he was cleaned properly...i was lied to about what he ate and how his day went...i was first told he didnt eat well...and when I picked him up the "teacher" said he ate really good and had a great day...I said...thats not what I was told earlier when I called to check on him. I also packed a blanket and fitted sheet for his cot that was never used the 3 days he was there...so..my son slept with no blanket or sheet...second day...his father picked him up...so..im not sure what state he was in..dad said he seemed ok...last day...i walked in...same teacher...my son was screaming his head off along with another child and they were both sitting at the table...my son had a cup of milk sitting in front of him...WHICH WASNT EVEN HIS CUP...other children were in bouncers...swings and exersaucers CRYING...2 BABIES were crawling on the floor CRYING and she was sitting in the same chair..i said why is he sitting in the table...her reply was...he had a bad day and was throwing a fit.......so. i got him out and said to her...thats not what i was told when i called. I was told he had a great day...he was not "throwing a fit" she needs to be fired. Who says that? .there was a younger girl working in the room with her...she didnt know who i was and thought i had another child at the center...same room and acted like she was going to get that child ready to leave with me!!! I told her that child was not mine....that blew my mind...I got my son home....immediately changed him...he had a huge bite mark on his thigh...i was livid. No one told me crap about what happened. My protocol when i was a teacher..was...when a child got bit..i called the parent...let them know it happened and filled out an incident report for them to sign and have a copy of. Called rosie...nobody knew jack crap about what happened...no incident report...nothing...the center is dirty...my son was dirty when i picked him up. Do not send your small children here. I took him out of this place. I am so disgusted with the way things were handled.

If something did come up the teachers and directors always informed me and did what they could to fix the situation. The teachers are awesome having to put up with some of the horrible kids that I've seen while picking up my own children. I always see some sort of cleaning going on. They are extremely nice and always wish myself and my kids a good night. You want to go to daycare know that there is a high possibility that your child will be hurt.... It's daycare! Know that small mistakes will happen! Blame the state of Ohio for ratios. But like I said before the teachers and director always relayed any situation to me. My kids love it there even after 6 years!
