I made an online appointment and upon my arrival staff had no idea about my arrival. I will however say that they got me in after a short wait. The woman who did my nails did OK. She definitely used too much acrylic. The woman who did my pedicure however did a phenomenal job. She was very detailed and took care to ensure that I got a full service that wasnt rushed. My biggest complaint about this place though is the lack of cleanliness. There is sitting dust everywhere, that isn't noticeable until you are seated and having the service done. There are cobwebs hanging off the lighting and the windowsills are stacked with dust. This place definitely needs a deep cleaning. You can tell they are trying to have an upscale look, but if you cant meet the basics of cleanliness you are missing the plot. I wanted to like this place because its close to my home, but I honestly wouldnt return. read more

My family and I are frequent customers of this establishment. Today was one of the worst experiences I have had. First, the woman doing my manicure used a dirty washcloth that was hard and crumpled with old polish on it. Then, she didn't check in on my color, which I wanted one more coat of polish to make it darker, and when I asked to add chrome, I was told no. I asked for chrome to cover up the color since she wouldn't make it darker. There are multiple fingers in which polish is not covering the whole area, and it was not fixed when asked. I don't usually write reviews but if this prevents at least one person from coming here it's worth it. I had this place recommended to me a couple of times, so I decided to check it out. I came in for a full set and a pedicure. The first thing I noticed was that the place is just dirty.. it doesn't look like they clean their tools well, if at all, but I don't get my nails done very often, so I didn't think much of it at the time. I got my pedicure first and the woman doing the service was literally falling asleep while doing it?? Honestly, I just felt bad, so I went with it. The acrylics were not great either. They came out dusty and the person doing the service was on their phone the entire time which, again, I didn't even mind, unprofessional sure, but after leaving I didn't feel inclined to write a bad review. A couple days after coming here, I noticed that my toe had started to get infected right where the woman doing my pedicure was messing with and I'm sure the infection started because of how dirty this place actually is. After this, I STILL gave them the benefit of the doubt and came back to have my acrylics removed. The same woman that did my pedicure was helping me and she actually drilled straight into my nail bed AFTER all of the acrylic was removed. I'll include a pictures of what it looked like but this woman didn't even acknowledge the fact that she clearly messed up. I regret not saying anything but honestly I was so dumbfounded that this was actually happening again and as I went to pay, WHICH I DONT EVEN THINK I SHOULD HAVE PAID FOR THE AWFUL SERVICE!!!, the same woman ripped my card out of my hand and inserted it into the machine. I was APPALLED. Based on the reviews it doesn't look like this is the first time this has happened either! Now, all of this happened over 4 months ago and after 4 rounds of antibiotics and having part of my toe nail removed that issue is FINALLY clearing up. I have gone there to get my nails done and they do a good job. They are quick, and work to get you in even when you don't have an appointment. They will try to upcharge you for the shellac on your toes, which I have not used because I prefer to have my toes painted. The pain lasts a long time. They have a lot of options for spa pedicures, which I also like. My nails have always looked good coming out of it, as well. They would not, however, work with the photos I brought in of what I wanted and insisted I pick out a color. While I can understand that to an extent, the color ended up not even resembling what I picked out, so that is part of why I am not giving 5 starts. I've gone to Almond Nails several times prior to this experience and never had an issue. HOWEVER, this time I go 2 days prior to my Covid Wedding, which is already stressful. I get a full set, my adult daughters manicure and two pedicures. Walk out spending $175. More than I expected, but it was my wedding. I go back on August 31st for a fill. The next day nail chipped off completely. I go in on September 2nd, fixed first free. I continue to have chopping issues, lifting and knee then I wouldn't return. So today, I go to another Kalamazoo Salon. As he takes off the color he finds 4 nails with fungus. I'm not only horrified, I'm disgusted. I will NEVER return to Almond Nails. My nails look great, so I'm giving it 3 stars. But....I went with my sister for her birthday and we didn't have a super great experience. It seemed like it was set up for people who get their nails done every week, which is not us. We didn't even get to take our coats off before they were working on our hands. Then they seemed annoyed that I had to stand up to hang my coat and scarf up and select my color. It was all extremely rushed. Then I requested to sit next to my sister (3 times) and was told each time that I could sit next to her in a minute. So when that didn't happen after the third time asking, we just decided to hold our conversation across the salon. There was no one else in there, so I really don't understand why we weren't able to sit closer. But like I said...we came to get our nails done, and they look really good. My friend and I were the only people in the salon (besides ONE person) they rushed us so much. Didn't let us sit next to one another and wouldn't even let us pick our colors out. They took max 15 minutes when we came in to relax and enjoy our time. They were rushing us, pulling our hands, and even hurt my friend. They were rude and kept trying to up sell us when we very specifically ONLY wanted gel. They continued to push and ask us to buy more. I went here on a Sunday. I had an appointment at 3:00, and I arrived at 2:45. I waited for over two hours before they started on my nails. They were so slow that people started walking out. I was getting an acrylic full set removed and a new set put on. The woman started clipping my nails and then ripping them off. Finally, she decided to soak my nails. Then they kept switching nail technicians. My nails underneath were completely broken and destroyed. When applying the new set they filed over my skin many times. They even made me bleed, and they just kept going. They were very rude, and they told me it was my fault because I was holding my hand wrong. We typically do not go to this salon but we wanted pedicures on a Sunday and found that this was one of the only salons open. We made appointments three days beforehand. When we got there, we found that the place was extremely dirty. On top of that it was very unorganized- I'm not sure what the point of making appointments was as they just did our pedicures one at a time and we spent much more time that anticipated there. To be honest, I would have just chalked this all up to a bad experience and moved on with my life but I felt like I had to leave an actual review as some pretty inappropriate things were said. The woman who did my son's pedicure said several sexist and homophobic things to both my son and my husband. She was also just generally awkward and asked very personal and invasive questions very loudly (once again, I could have just moved along had it not been for the other comments). All this to say, if you are of the LGBTQI+ community, I would choose another salon. read more

This was my first time going to this salon and the people were very rude. The guy Tom that was doing my nails dropped all the nails on the floor and continued to put them on my hands. Then they cut my skin around my nails and my thumb was numb until my nails came off! Lovely experience! My mom, two sisters & I were all seated next to each other for pedicures and all were serviced by different people at the same time, so no waiting. Services were great and the employees were very nice and professional. My feet look great! Best place in Kzoo by far. We didn't have any wait but theylady was rushing us and being rude when my girlfriend was being "too slow". At one point she even went to smack her hand because she was putting her hand in too slow. Probably the worst pedicure I've ever had. I asked for hotter water 3 times and he kept putting tiny splashes in there and getting annoyed at me. Also tried to asked me if I wanted my nails clipped and I was trying to figure out what he was asking and he got mad at me again. Then filed my super long nails and I asked for them to be clipped of course. Then he kept pausing the massage to watch TV. The first time i went was awesome! Today i went and my nails were done very sloppily for $66. I got a pedicure and there is polish around my toes and the paint is streaky and still see through. I asked for a manicure with dip polish and never received the manicure. My nails aren't all the way covered with polish and I was left with very dry hands and cuticles and polish stuck under them. So I went for a shellac pedi and a shellac menu. They RUSHED through my pedi; like they didn't let the lights cure the gel polish for long enough, and it wasn't completely dry by the end of my session. They spent more time on my mani thankfully, but it was nothing special. read more

I've been going to Almond Nails for years and today really disappointed me. My best friend and I booked pedicures together and when we arrived, they had us sitting with our feet in the water like we usually do. Looking around, the floors were very dirty and the chair I was sitting in and the tub my feet were in were filthy as well. If the plastic liner wasn't in the tub, I couldn't have done it. My best friend had the best pedicure with lots of nice relaxing massaging and the person I had, started working on me 10 mins after my best friends pedicure started, and she was rough and rushed through everything. She was completely finished with me before my best friend was done having her legs massaged. She took the plastic liner out of the tub and proceeded to have me out my feet in the unlined tub so she could rinse my feet off. This grossed me out. When it came time for the polish, I had carefully picked one that I wanted to try to see if I liked it for my daughters wedding next month. The lady proceeded to put a dark red under it and had to be questioned why she was putting a color I didn't pick on my toenails. The owner overheard and saw this and suggested something to make it look like the swatch that I had picked out. My toes ended up looking nice, but I left with sore legs that looked almost raw in places because of how rough she was with the exfoliating and I didn't get hardly any massage at all like my best friend did. I had referred a few people to almond nails and both told me they'd never go back. I'm really disappointed and am not sure I will go back either. read more

I called they said it wasn't busy... I ended up waiting for an hour while people who walked in went before me. It was a thursday early afternoon so there was no reason why I should have been brushed aside. Once I finally got sat the technician tried to argue with me, telling me he didn't want to take my nails off and that I should just get a fill. Then, he asked me if I had cash, I told him no, i just brought my card. He then told me to put my card on the table so he could see it before he finished my nails. Then, without asking, took my card and swiped it while my nails were under the UV light. not telling me the price that I had to pay AT ALL. It was very inappropriate to argue with me and then assume that I brought no way to pay and forcing me to take out my card before he finished to make sure I could pay.
