We've been to this location under previous management. The new digs are much nicer, the staff very friendly and accommodating. The spa still had that "lived in" look; don't expect a modern, slick spa environment here. Everything's clean and neat, the tables and bedding comfortable, yet the building is old, though the garden and grounds make it feel homey. As far as the massage was concerned, my companion adored his and was quite pleased. I wasn't as happy. I was very stressed out, and needed a relaxing hour. My fault that I didn't state ahead of time to leave my hair and face alone! I hate coming out with greasy hair, which I did that day! The massage was nothing spectacular. Through the first half hour, the music was soothing and I was starting to relax. For some reason, my masseuse started a conversation, which continued for the remainder of the massage. I should have said something, but I didn't want to be rude. Yet shouldn't a professional masseuse realize it's hard to relax talking about housing and Marin traffic issues? I left feeling disappointed and not relaxed at all. This place is pretty cool for a nice relaxing spa. The tubs are outside so you get the nice fresh air while looking up at the stars . Very clean place too and friendly staff . I've always called ahead to book a time slot since I live an hour away , but they always have the time I want . Hot tub is pretty standard and sort of expensive for what it is, but it's a nice activity to do before a massage to loosen up. Massage experience itself was mediocre. Face rest was not comfortable, music glitched, and the room was too small. Said they would email me the receipt, but didn't. We did a couples massage and I requested a Male and female masseuse, but got two men instead. My massage was hit or miss. Some parts were ok, but there were amateurish strokes, the feeling of forearm hair, and other little things that prevented me from feeling fully calm and relaxed. read more

Best spa in Marin! Nestled at the bottom of Mt Tam, the location is quiet and tranquil. Great set up and relaxing vibe. Make sure to take advantage of the sauna and/or spa before your massage. My masseuse, Barbara gave me the best massage I've had in years! She was incredible. Don't let her small stature fool you, she really packs a punch! Her experience as an ex-bodybuilder/gym rat clearly gives her a leg up when working on clients with injuries and general wear and tear on the body. She is very intuitive and her ability to read body language was impressive. Almonte Spa is a beautiful oasis in Mill Valley. I took my friend to the spa for his birthday and we both had an amazing time. We had thirty minutes of uninterrupted time in their hot tub which was clean and romantic. It's located outdoors under the redwoods and is a relaxing way to begin the experience. There is an outdoor shower with shampoo, conditioner, and soap and the spa provides towels and a sarong to wear to the massage room. We did a couples massage, so our room was a decent size. It is a calming environment with comfortable heated beds. The massages were great. I felt relaxed and rejuvenated when we were done....and of course didn't want the experience to end. Although the evening was pretty expensive for two people, especially after tip, I think it is worth it if you are looking for something special to splurge on. read more

Almonte Spa is the most unexpected little gem of Mill Valley. I highly recommend checking them out as it's a slice of old Marin, casual and cozy. Their hot tubs are quiet, peaceful and under giant redwoods. The infrared sauna feels detoxifying and is a nice, inexpensive add-on. Most importantly, the massage therapists are really talented. I've had a few massages over the past year there and I especially enjoyed my massage from Suzi. She's magic! My inner-hippie also likes the wide selection of crystals in the lobby. This is a follow up. They said they would refund my friend the $100 gift card she purchased for me. My friend bought the gift card as she knew I was diagnosed with cancer and going through chemotherapy. The far infrared sauna was helpful. However after the staff screwed up on my appointment and then treated me like crap I decided to not longer use the gift card. The spa said they would refund my friend. My friend never received the refund. I saw today that I was messaged through Yelp stating they would indeed refund the amount to me. I never saw the yelp message and the spa never called (they had my phone number) to tell me there was a change in plans. I called today and was told I could pick up the funds this week. Now the super rude owner has called to say no, she is keeping the money. Basically she is keeping money for services she never gave and is not refunding money she said she would. Thief! I asked her to explain to me how this is OK and she refused and basically hung up on me. On another note- I would think someone who is in the healing arts business would be kinder and more compassionate to someone who was clearly having major health issues. If I treated someone going through chemo the way I was treated by the owner, I would not be able to live with myself. She should get into another line of work. read more

Can I give this place one million stars??? I treated my mom to an advanced therapy massage for her birthday, and got one for myself (prenatal) at the same time! I had Maryah, and my mom had Kerin, and they were not only the best massages we have ever had, but they were such genuinely nice, wonderful people to spend an hour with. My mom's ongoing lower back pain was gone for the day, and it's the first massage I've had that was actually strong enough to really work out all the kinks and leave you feeling amazing. I recently visited to take advantage of an individual combo deal (15 minute hot tub and 50 minute massage). It was my second time visiting Simply Inspired, but the first time trying the hot tub. Overall, I was very happy with my experience. I was able to make a same day appointment. The hot tub was great. A peaceful outdoor setting with the proper amount of privacy. After 15 minutes, my massage therapist came to the outside area and rang a bell to alert me that my time was up. I slowly made my way out, showered off, and made my way inside for my massage. I didn't feel rushed. I thought the price I paid for the services I received was a fairly good value based on the cost of doing business in the area. The only small item that disappointed me was the policy that they provide only one towel to the guests. I kindly asked for one more towel, as I am bigger person. The attendant said they are not supposed to give out more than one, but she did end up obliging. I thanked her, but she kind of made me feel a little bad, like I was asking for a huge favor. I recognize and respect the challenges associated with running a small business, and I know that this business is unique and it is probably expensive to keep and maintain a proper amount of clean towels. I just feel that if you are a guest and using the hot tub and having a massage (and showering in between) that they could be reasonable and not make a big deal about asking for 2 towels. Obviously, not a huge deal at all. I will probably just bring a big towel with me when I return the next time. Definitely will return, as I live in Mill Valley. I was very pleasantly surprised by this place. I was looking for an infrared sauna and this spa popped up in my Google search. Being that Simply Inspired is under new management and their pricing is happily reasonable (it's such a nice feeling when one doesn't immediately get the feeling of having one's eyes gouged out upon receiving the bill) I decided to give it a shot and booked a 30 minute sauna. The moment I walked in, I felt relaxed. There is calming music, nice places to sit and wait if needed, water, and crystals tastefully displayed around the front room. The woman at the front desk was kind and helpful and got me started right away, though I appreciated that she was patient: I didn't feel at all rushed to get changed or run into the sauna, as the next person was booked far enough out that I had a bit of time on both sides of my appointment to change, use the restroom, etc. The entire place is immaculate, I walked around barefoot from the sauna to the restroom and not even a speck of dirt stuck to my feet. I love a clean spa; how well kept this place is is definitely part of the reason I'll be a repeat customer. The sauna itself was great and I really enjoyed my time relaxing, sweating, and meditating. Personally, I like the Sauna to be 130 degrees plus and if you like it hot as well, be sure to tell the front desk so they pump up the temp for you, the front desk even recommends calling 45 minutes before your appointment to make sure it's nice and toasty upon your arrival. Note that the sauna is private inside but not outside. I'm not an extremely modest person so walking from the sauna to the changing room in a sarong doesn't bother me in the slightest, but if it would bother you, think ahead and perhaps bring a thin robe. The EO bath products in the shower were a definite plus!! You should also know that this is not a the kind of super fancy dancy spa you might find around the Bay Area but, in my opinion, it's no less lovely of an experience. I don't need a robe, or slippers, or marble floors, or cucumber water to enjoy a good sauna and I am thrilled that this less frilly, down to earth spot is available so close to home. I immediately booked another sauna session for next week and look forward to surprising my husband with a good, hot soak in one of their tubs in the near future. The Decor is lovely... more corporate than "Old Mill Valley"... A pretty place, did not enjoy hear conversations while both in my hot tub and especially in the Sauna (Love the saunas there).. It was earlier in the day I assume I was an oversight as the owner and employees discussed the days concerns.. Maybe next time earplugs :) Just a suggestion , not everyone wants to have a conversation about their experience right after "relaxing and meditating". He is very intuitive and has been my therapist for many years. I keep coming back because he is able to reduce stress and make me feel rejuvenated. I called here to see if I needed to make an appointment for the infrared sauna or if they took walk ins and the lady on the phone said I didn't need one and could walk in. So I came all the way from Richmond only to find that they were booked for the next 2 hours even thought the lady told me I could just walk in. She said to come back in 2 hours. Now I have to drive all the way back over the bridge. If I were them I would have offered to let me use another sauna or a hot tub for free for the inconvenience but they didn't seem to care. I won't be returning here since they seem very unorganized and don't seem to care about good customer service. read more

I recently visited Almonte Spa on a recommendation from the hotel concierge after a 16 hour flight from Bali Indonesia, with a 4 day old fractured fibula and leg cast, in desperate need of a massage. I was fortunate to have been seen by Massage Therapist Miss Anna Isis.The massage was Excellent !! Miss Isis asked what happened to my leg. After explaining to her,she asked if it was ok to do Energy Healing on my leg. I was ready to try anything ! 2 days after my visit , I was seen by an Orthopedic Dr for further x-ray. Magical as it may sound, he said the Fracture was almost completely closed and cut off my 1 week old cast that was to be on for 10 weeks. A few days later I returned to Almonte Spa walking !!! As a barista I have quite a bit of stress and tension in my arms, neck, and shoulders. Dawn was able to pinpoint trouble areas and really work on them. I've received a few massages now, and this was head and shoulders above any I have yet received professionally. It was a fantastic ending to a fun filled vacation to San Francisco and Sequoia national park. If I'm ever back in the area I will definitely return for that follow up if Dawn is still around.
