It is, in the beginning, a bit annoying until you realize it is actually a good thing (I wonder if Mcdonald's to the same - I'll might have to try that). So I ordered the chicken burger with a breaded fried chicken breast some black pepper mayo sauce some salad, Onions, and a slap of avocado. WOW - the nicely tasting breaded chicken was fried to perfection and it was a really big piece without drying out. Good job! the "burner" was definitely the combination of chicken and that avocado spread mixed in With the black Peppercorn mayonnaise - an almost perfect bite. The bun was not too big to get in the way of tasting what's important all other ingredients have been fresh and am tasty the fries also fried to a crisp state without being burned. Hands down a surprisingly great burger. Oh, I will be back - the service was five starts as well quick, knowledgeable, and friendly!

I walked passed around 1130 because in my head I thought it opened at that time ... but it opens at 12 ... but it was good for me to find the building, have a last look at the menu and make a decision on the food I was going to have. When I went back at opening time (I always find it useful and handy for me to get entry into a restaurant when it's open ... it's a lot harder and more illegal when it isn't ) I was the first customer. I waited a little bit while the staff were getting everything sorted, went straight to a table and within minutes the lovely server came over to take my order. I went for the chicken blasts (Korean bbq flavour ... which from looking back at their name and flavour .. I should have realised something), the Birria burrito and the Fanta (wasn't feeling like a boozy drink this time). My order got put into the kitchen and I just had to wait for it then ... the server came back over and apologised my drink was taking a bit to arrive as another member of staff had to go get ice ... but to be honest, I wasn't waiting too long and I honestly didn't mind. When my order came I looked it over and it looked DELICIOUS. I started with trying the chicken and it was so tasty and crunchy and perfect ... and then the heat kicked in (but it was fine ... I'm just not used to heat). So there I was, restaurant getting busier, and me sat there looking at the window ... crying in public (not crying crying but heat tears) ... thank god for that ice. The Rib Joint & Tap Bar is covered in 80s skateboarding elements, including an awesome 'tiled' wall made from sawn-up skateboards. Set over three floors, we were disappointed to hear that the upper two weren't open that night (the First Floor Bar had been booked for a private event and the Liars Lounge on the second floor was simply closed). Hope to be able to fully explore next time. Anyway, on to the dining - they have a decent cocktail menu, including examples such as Deep South Zombie (hence the earlier voodoo reference) and a huuuuge list of beers either on tap, in bottles or cans. Conversely, the food menu is remarkably short - with varieties of pork or beef ribs and about a dozen side dishes. The only vegetarian main course is the Watermelon Salad (which was very good apparently). The carnivores in the group awaited the ribs and when they arrived I think most of our jaws hit the floor. They looked like meals for cavemen. Serious pieces of meat on the bone but with a generous meat-to-bone ratio. The gorgeously juicy beef Short Ribs I ordered (£22) simply sloughed off the bones. The side order of Smoke Pit Beans & Burnt Ends (£4) were tasty, but not as good as Red's True BBQ's in my opinion. Cue the meat sweats. I was still full until dinnertime the next day, which if you know me is a serious matter indeed! The only minor quibble was the flimsy paper covers on the metal dinner trays that the food was placed on - it gets somewhat 'mushed' when you're trying to eat your ribs which is annoying - get rid of them!

On first looks it seems fairly small inside however there is an upstairs section that pretty much doubles the capacity. We grabbed a drink downstairs from the bar before heading up to the upper deck which I preferred. It was a nice chilled out setting and the bar staff were really friendly and great at recommending drinks. I'll be back to taste the food some time soon, and will update the review once I have! I had to double check mine..it had the ribs..cheese sausage..meaty beans..and another pot of beans but no pulled pork or crackling ..my boyfriend's was dry brisket on soggy bread with greens..the burnt ends were nice. Anyway he left most of his and to be fair they were really understanding and the manager sat down with us to discuss the food. So I knew I had to go here ASAP. So whilst getting my haircut in the city I decided (with help from a friend) to go here and wow was that a great decision. The chicken theme goes throughout with double entendres all around (which is perfect for my humour). I got sat down very quickly and lots of info was given, but not too much that I couldn't remember it but all necessary. Looking at the inside was great with a booze cage near me, lots of windows, and a dimmer lighting which was really cool. Looking at the menu, there was so much to chose from, but I went for the make my own chicken plate which chicken breast (added charge), my choice of sauce (I went Dr Pepper bbq sauce) and fries, but I upgraded to pulled pork fries. Got seen really quickly and served a drink and then whilst editing a video I decided on the above ... and it came out really quickly .. like I was surprised how quick ... and omg it was so delicious. The bbq sauce was perfect, there was lashings of meat on the fries, the chicken was tender and juicy and amazing. I took my time with it and couldn't finish it .. the wait staff were very attentive knowing I might have wanted another drink (I did) and it was just amazing. Will deffo have to go back here many many times.

When they first came to Manchester it was in the Trafford Centre which I am rarely in. A couple times I have been, walked passed it and tempted. Looked at menu and it seemed expensive for a "fast food" burger (with drinks and fries it was about £13 or something like that). In the US, Five Guys is more like a fast food restaurant like McDonalds with the price being similar - price here in the UK is approaching "proper" restaurants. At the start of 2017 they opened restaurant in Arndale Centre so closer to me. I also heard from someone that the "Little Burgers" they sell are a decent size so the price of things doesn't seem too bad. I do like how you can have lots of different toppings so lots of options, did like that you could see the kitchen and see your burger being made. So I went for the Little bacon cheeseburger and some fries. Burger was OK. You get a lot of fries - had food to takeaway and loads of fries at the bottom of the bag. That is not a complaint! :) I went for the cajun style fries which had a bit of a kick to them - they tasted pretty good.  So overall, its OK. Better than McDonalds but its far from being best burger in Manchester.

Five Guys at the Manchester Arndale is a fairly new branch of the fast-food chain, it is over two…read morefloors with seating on both floors in the old Harvey Nichol's Unit, next to Bella Italia and opposite Waterstones, it is also really close to Nando's and Apple. Inside, it is quite new and follows traditional Five Guys decor of quotes etc about the brand and newspaper clippings from cities such as Edinburgh and London. The staff had a decent knowledge about me being gluten free. Gluten Free orders can be served without a bun in either a bowl or lettuce wrap and the chips and the 11 toppings are gluten free, you can have as many or little of the toppings for free including hot sauce, tomato sauce, mushrooms, tomatoes, onion and lettuce. You only pay extra for cheese and bacon. I ordered a mini cheeseburger in a bowl with ketchup, mayo, grilled onions and tomatoes, the mini burger is one patty instead of two and is £2.20 cheaper, I found the taste of it to be bland and dry, meanwhile the toppings were cold and it wasn't served in the most impressive ad appetising of conditions, for example, the top was covered in seasoning as the chips had become to flow. The chips were fresh, and I liked how they stated where they were sourced from, but the portion size was too large even for a 'small chips' hence it overflown into my bag, which I didn't like either. A cheaper option to reflect the meaning of small is needed. Ths service wasn't spectacular, the ordering station felt too crowded and cramped but the chips were seasoned well and the overall feel was good too but due to reasons mentioned mainly the poor burger and price, I feel this branch of Five Guys only deserves a two star rating.
