This is one of the worst retail experiences I've had in recent memory, otherwise I wouldn't take the time to write the review. I placed an order after specifically confirming the items were available that day at the store, and went out of my way to visit this store. Upon arrival, they told me that the pick-up order had not been processed and would not be available today. Meanwhile, the items are sitting in plain sight of myself and the staff, and yet they cannot get around their own bureaucracy to let me fulfill my order that way. I guess this twisted dystopian wellness-themed Catch 22 serves me right for supporting an establishment like ALO. Never again. read more

While I haven't shopped at this location yet, I did stop by for a 7:15an Sculpt class. Doors were locked until about 7 mins before class and the studio is upstairs. (This store is huge by the way, and a lot of the clothes were really cute.) Aside from the sign to go upstairs, there wasn't much signage for lockers, restrooms or the space itself that I noticed but restrooms and lockers were tucked in the corner behind some black divider belts and class was through an opening in the side wall. I really loved the ambiance of this studio. There were about 8 of us + the instructor. Mats, blocks and weights were provided and we moved at a steady pace through exercises (think Pilates/barre/yoga mix) to music. Naturally light coming in through the windows ended our practice and I left feeling awake and ready for the day. I'll definitely come back! read more

Yoga @ Alo Williamsburg I've visited the Alo Yoga studio in Williamsburg a few times--it's conveniently located along Bedford, not far from Whole Foods. The indoor studio upstairs is more intimate, but the classes are consistently challenging and the instructors are fantastic. If you get the chance, I highly recommend taking one of their outdoor rooftop classes during the warmer months. The rooftop is spacious and it's such a great experience to practice yoga outside. Overall, a beautiful space with high-quality instruction. I'm always looking forward to my next visit! read more

This review is for the mat pilates class with Kayla: If you want an instructor who keeps reasonable pacing / any sort of beat, or who pays attention to her students, this is NOT the class for you! I left the class fuming with anger at how careless it was. The instructor did not give *one single moment* of pause during the entire class! Not a 3-second child's pose, not "ok, take a breath and grab a sip of water." This is unhealthy. She also did not watch us, or offer any correction. She'd do crunches herself, and while staring at the ceiling chirp "great job! Amazing!" Um, how would you know? Everything she counted out was wildly off the beat, and she'd speed up at random, without regard to what students were doing. She also skipped the number 5 every time she was counting?? Like "seven, six, four-three-two-one." Not sure if she has a superstition against 5, or just doesn't know how to count. This was such a bad class that I will not be returning to this studio. read more

I love the ALO fitness studio on the 2nd floor for the consistent experience they offer. Clean space, friendly staff to check you in, lockers, mats, props, decent teachers, everything you need is included at an affordable price. The class times and location are also incredible. read more

I have been in this store twice about about a year apart between visits, the first time I was followed as if I was a shop lifter, this week I sat down on one of the displays and was shouted at by not one but two staff members, this was not an excuse me sir would you mind not sitting on the display units, it was two staff members shouting at me at a volume that gained the attention of all the people in the store, I had to then ask where I might sit, I was told there was a seat in the back of the store no please no thanks for your understanding. My wife who was shopping and being ignored by the staff as they stared at there phones heard the exchange and opted to go to @lululemons where the staff were polite, helpful and I sat on the display and wasn't shouted at or have any rude interactions with staff read more

They have a scummy return policy: if you use a gift card as part of a purchase, and you return ANY item from that purchase, the return credits back onto the gift card instead of your form of payment, even if the value of the items you DIDN'T return still exceeds the gift card amount. Alo obviously does this to keep the money in their ecosystem. The people working there feign indifference or genuinely don't care. Also, they slap their logo all over absolutely every article of clothing. And the white sweatpants I bought there were stained and I didn't catch it til I was home. I'm too tired of this place to even attempt an exchange. read more

Their clothing selection is honestly better than some Manhattan locations. However, the customer service was pretty much nonexistent--no greeting, no assistance. Luckily, I'm the type of customer who doesn't like being followed around, so it didn't bother me too much. Overall, I still recommend this location 100%! read more

I do like Alo but I have to say that the quality of their clothing isn't worth the price. I'm fine paying for good quality clothing especially if I like it but with this particular brand, I'm hesitant. The tops feel extremely cheap and look it too. The leggings I was interested in were $118 but again the quality was a big NO for me. $118 for leggings that look and feel like after a wash or 2 they'll look worn out is insane. Another pair I tried on was completely see-through & those were $108. I purchase from Lululemon frequently & I love the quality of their leggings & the price is never an issue. I'm just a tad bit confused about how Alo costs a lot more but cheaper quality. Their socks however are worth every penny. Soft & cushioned, well made for working out or a run. Their clothing is more so for Pilates, yoga, or lounging not for strength training. As for the store itself, it's very spacious with two floors. The second floor has men's & women's wear along with a huge fitting room area. The customer service for me was great. We were greeted the moment we walked in & asked if I was looking for anything in particular. She also offered to hold the items I was looking to exchange at the counter so that I could shop hands-free. My other issue with Alo is the sizing. I'm petite I usually wear a small or XS. Their XXS is huge on me. I would need to size down but unfortunately, XXS is as small as it gets. They have an amazing magnesium resetting spray for muscle tension!! A must-try, I love it. read more

The clothes are trendy but for starters whoever does their quality control should be fired. The difference in size from item to item, even the same pair of leggings in different colors, can be totally different. But the store itself is crazy pretentious. As stated, their quality control is a nightmare so I have purchased many things in different sizes because you actually never know here. On no less than 5 different occasions I have tried to return items and despite being within the 30 day return window they have literally picked up the return sign in front of them and made up some asinine reason why something cannot be returned. First it can be you're missing the paper sales tag, then when you return with it later "oh it's not attached" when all that's missing is the little pin that attached it. There is always some reason. I had someone tell me "oh we don't accept bodysuit returns in store" and I had to point out on their website that my item was eligible for return for them to take it. It's like they go out of their way to make your life difficult. Here's the best part. I once had the pleasure of standing in line for over 10 minutes behind a Victoria's Secret angel. She was there to return items that you explicitly can't return like panties. Did they take them back? Absolutely. Did they give her a hard time? Absolutely not. Guys you're a clothing store not a club. It wouldn't hurt to be better to your customers. read more

I think the store is pretty standard. At least the space is huge and there are a lot of couches to lounge on for people who need a break from shopping or waiting for someone shopping. Well, where do I even start. People who work here are horrible. Maybe the worst shopping experience I had in a few years. I stopped by to buy a few pairs of socks on Thursday, April 11th. They are located next to the register, where two sales associates were talking to each other. I grabbed a few pair of socks, and was waiting in the front of the register to get their attention. They were ignoring me for a few minutes, so I had to ask them to help me. One of them looked especially annoyed with me, since I dared to interrupt their conversation. I guess it was Erica? I read the previous reviews, and looks like another customer had a very similar experience with this person. It was a girl with dirty blond hair, and it was probably first time when I felt like they are doing me a favor allowing to buy $24 socks. No "hi", "how are you", "did you find everything okay", of course, nobody said "thank you" or "bye". For the brand this price range, you would they hired people who has at least some knowledge of how to talk to people. Don't think I would buy Alo anymore. There's plenty of similar brands whose workers are much more friendlier. Would also advise you to not shopping here, if you are not a native speaker, you'd be treated like sh*t. She obviously had issues with my accent and happily showed that to me. read more

It's a great, airy space. The staff is very friendly, and *somewhat* helpful, but they also have a mania to them, like this is their first job after being rescued from a cult, or they did a few lines before they started work. My review is mainly about the clothes, unfortunately. I spent well over $200 and mere months after my purchases, I can barely use anything I bought. All their clothes are pricey, and attractive. But are they well-made? The running shirts really retain odors. I have had this issue with other brands, but nothing close to this bad, and never so soon after the purchase too. No matter how much I wash the shirts, they get stinkier and stinkier. When I took a few of the items I bought back to the store to inquire, I was told I hadn't purchased "performance clothes." But...sorry...what else do they sell there? Did they think I bought a t-shirt with an all mesh back so I could eat a 4-course dinner at Le Bernadin? I could not have been clearer to the salespeople I was buying clothes to run and work out in, and to be told "well, you didn't buy a performance shirt" felt very much a like load of sh*t. They did replace my running shorts. It was nice of them since it had been past the 30 days, but the entire drawstring had torn out of the top of the shorts, in one long jagged tear, the material just deteriorating away, so it was pretty indefensible. As for the shirts...well...they were willing to take back the shirts I couldn't use to exchange for other "performance" shirts...that were $50 more. But having already bought new clothes at Lululemon and Tracksmith and RYU that are better made, I wasn't comfortable spending more money here. read more

During COVID-19 as of December 2021: When coming here, I was greeted immediately and helped by 2 staff members. Because I somewhat knew what I wanted when I entered the store, I only needed someone to show me where I could find certain pieces. However, one of the staff was super helpful as she explained the difference with sizing and materials which helped make my process of elimination quicker. Overall, the customer service I experienced was accommodating and the store itself was organized and fully stocked. There is a second floor which holds more women clothes but also a men's section as well. The second floor has a unisex fitting room which was clean as they had air filtrations on the floor in each room. My only hesitation based on NYC guidances is that none of the staff wore masks but all the in store customers wore them inside. However there is no sign outside that says anyone should wear a mask or distance inside. I'm not sure if that's safe in today's climate or for certain customers entering the store. I expressed interest once in a free intro cto the Pilates class and after a bunch of texts and calls I finally decided to book spots for my friend and I to try it out. Never once in any exchange of communication did they tell us yoga socks were a requirement for the half ass intro. We were left in the position to leave or spend $14 a piece which in my opinion is a horrible way to treat potential clients. This location is large and clean, and the staff are generally friendly. The biggest issue I have is the size selection. They rarely have any size L, and don't seem to carry XL in store at all. I understand they cater to a thin "yoga girlie" clientele, but it would be nice to have extended sizes in store. Sushhanna and Erica are horrible employees and a poor representation of the Alo Yoga brand. I will start this with saying alo as a clothing brand has been nothing but fantastic, I recently had ordered some shorts online and was so impressed with the quality I decided to visit their store, excited to see what else they had. Sadly, my store experience was HORRIBLE. I walked in with a friend of mine and began to look around, I grabbed some clothes to try on and walked around waiting my turn for someone to help me. Soon I realized we were the only ones left downstairs to help with three employees. A new guest walked in and they were immeditely greeted and asked if they wanted help. I started to look for a dressing room myself and went to a back room, then they payed attention. An employee at the register asked if I needed help and I told her I had been waiting to be helped. She asked the coworker on the floor if "she wanted to help me or not" and she said "no".... so the employee at the register left her station to take me to the dressing room. I'm sad to write this, I decided not to purchase anything from the store because I felt unwelcome and uncomfortable. Please do better and please hire employees who are kind to all types of people, alo lost my service read more
