This place looks like it was designed by IKEA. We walked in last night around 10 to check in and was squarely met with a very loud karaoke party in the lobby bar that made it hard for me to think when checking in. The furniture is cheap, laminate and not has hip as it appears in pictures.The rooms were not bad in layout but there are two things that will guarantee I never stay here again: - They skimp on the pillows. Small little cheap excuses for pillows. - The doors slam hard when people close them in the hallway. This jars you awake throughout the night and makes it hard to sleep. Not going to be back. The Westin across the street will do fine. read more

My girlfriends and I just wanted a faux/mini getaway, and I have to tell you, Aloft Mount Laurel has just enough swank chic to fit that bill. SPG Hotels provide a gateway to fun, breezy-feeling times and you sense that as soon as you enter the lobby. It's a fun little haven of sorts that you'd never expect when you turn off 38. I mean, it kinda seems like it's mod in the middle of nowhere, but it works ... As long as you're on a higher floor when the Bat Mitzvah you weren't lucky enough to be a part of gets cranking past midnight. I mean, MAZEL! Seriously though. We stayed on the third floor, and the boom-boom sounded like it was just next door for the better part of our night. Somebody needs to sound proof that piece. There were also weird echo-y pockets in our room that kind of cheapened the atmosphere. But oh, the atmosphere. It's so fun in those rooms. Very Euro-inspired, clean but color-filled lines throughout. A lot of high-gloss sheens to things, simple textures and comfort. I instantly felt like my massage from earlier in the day (get it Massage Envy!) met its happy partner as soon as I settled in. But like I said--it's quite Euro, so don't go looking for a big closet. In fact, there was no closet per se; think open shelves and minimalism.Yeah, this is your reminder to pack Holly Golightly. Bring those fun, non-ironables that you can just throw on and layer and switch up with minimal fuss. The bathroom had a cool sliding door that was very modern and added just the right bit of visual privacy--but again with the sound proofing fails. All the accoutrements are mini--fridge, tea/coffee pot, soap bars, lotions, pillow count (well the pillows themselves weren't mini, but there weren't very many), but the quality is quite as it should be. The staff, for the most part, were pleasant and readily available. Again, this was only one night for us so it's not like we got to know them King and I style. Still, we were greeted quickly; HOWEVER, there was some mixup with the reservations and pre-charges/holds that weren't explained well enough for my friends. It resulted in some confusion that was eventually resolved, but it didn't set a good impression. You want to know that you're special and in my past experiences, SPG ALWAYS does an amazing job at this--regardless of whether you're a frequent visitor or just passing through, and I felt like we got dismissed a little too breezily. The same could also be said for the housekeeping staff who answered our request for 1 full set of fresh towels with 3 hand towels and a blank stare. Overall though, the location is pretty great. Not so much the view, but the location is near lots of great spots. You can even get room service from the restaurant next door, which has pretty good fare, and there's a drive-thru Starbucks just across the parking lot. You can walk there, but I mention the drive-thru because it's such an oasis of sorts when you're up North. I digress ... per usual ... The room was clean, spacious and very relaxing and comfortable. It also had plenty of outlets, which I thought was delightfully un-Euro of them and awesome. Overall, it was a really great place to escape for a day; definitely worth the treat to oneself and I look forward to venturing to more Alofts in the future! read more

The idea of a more "green" hotel experience is a good one. Aloft's approach is minimalistic. The layout of the room, however, is s bit odd, a long pleather bench ( suitcase holder?) stationed under a mounted television. The beds were less comfortable than most hotel chains and the sheets were a bit scratchy. read more

This is one of those reviews where I had trouble deciding on what to give it, because there were some pretty equal and opposite contributing factors. First "The Good". We got the room for $81 (rate & taxes) on hotels.com, which is a pretty hard rate to beat lately in a place of any quality at all. The room was super clean, very modern, nice big LCD TV with free Showtime. Lots of electrical outlets, and a device that lets you plug all kinds of different inputs and feed it into the TV. Reliable and fast wireless internet. Very comfortable bed in a nice sized room, which had a refrigerator in it. Now "The Bad". We had trouble sleeping from around midnight (when we went to bed) until 2 or 3 am, due to the nightlife out on the patio. I'm not sure how regular this is, but there was a wedding that night at the hotel, and I think most of the noise were from people from the wedding. We were on the 4th floor (room 434 if memory serves), which overlooked the patio off the bar and banquet room. Also, they have a coffee pot down stairs, which I'd expect to be complementary, but they charge a ridiculous $2.50 for about 12 ounces of coffee. As Adi N. mentioned, there is no restaurant, so that was disappointing. But I think Adi was wrong when she said the hotel was just built. I think it has been refurbished/renovated (but done well, as it does look brand new). VERDICT: I'd stay there again, but I'd request a room that doesn't overlook the patio. read more

The hotel's decor is clearly trying to seem trendy. At first, it seemed a bit silly, like it was trying too hard to be cool, but after just a couple of nights, it grew on me. It was so much more pleasant to come back to a hotel with a bit of excitement rather than a boring run-of-the-mill standard suburban hotel. The wireless was decent, which is saying a lot since most hotels either charge a lot of service or have awful reception. The bathroom sink area was nice, bright, and spacious, and it even had a mini-fridge. That was a nice surprise, and it wasn't stuffed with overpriced drinks that you would never buy. It was solely meant for you to use. A couple of downsides: there is no restaurant at the hotel, and the window soundproofing SUCKS. Other reviewers have mentioned these two issues, too, so you can believe it's true. You'll either need to be okay hearing drunk drunk shouting throughout the night, and that might not be a problem if you stay up late or you're likely to be the loud one outside. I'd recommend you ask to not be facing the courtyard if you think it'll bother you. read more

This review of aLoft is based solely on the lounge area. The hotel strives to be hip and trendy and aLoft meets it's mark. While this design might not suite everybody, it's a definite break from the norm that I much appreciate. The bar scene at aLoft is hit and miss. Some nights the lounge area is really jamming, while others you feel like the only soul in the building. Regardless, the bartenders are always welcoming and they make you feel relaxed and "at home" no matter how busy they are. The drinks at aLoft are really good. They've recently been focused on re-inventing tired classics and they did a fantastic job on achieving that goal. It's a relief to see variety on their spirits. They have multiple brands of the main types of liquor which is something you don't see very often, not even in bars. The liquor prices are reasonable for a hotel and run slightly more than your typical bar. The food at the bar is the only item I feel could use improvement. When you look around the lounge you will see a lot of take-away menus and people ordering out. Sure, having Miller's right next door is a big factor to this, however, this was a common sight even prior to Miller's opening. The items on the menu leave much to be desired, and when you do place an order and receive the food, you're left slightly disappointed. The food prices are on the high side. All in all aLoft has created a great little spot for locals and guest to hang out. The friendly atmosphere coupled with great drinks, entertainment (on select nights), free pool table and wifi make it a great place to meet up for business or pleasure. I highly recommend checking out aLoft the next time you want to "go out for a couple of drinks". read more

Stayed here for a wedding this past weekend. Everything was sub-par to my boyfriend and me. We are by no means snobby folks, and were excited to stay at a new place, but the Aloft just didn't meet our expectations. Rooms were clean and spacious, but it was the service I was annoyed with. Check in was fast and impersonal, not what I have come to expect. The front desk needs to be the heart of the operation and it needed a jolt. I thought I had left my license at the front desk while checking in, so about an hour after said check in, I went back down to look for it. The girl who checked me in was assisting a large group, so I didn't bother her. Meanwhile three other employees were just standing behind and around the desk chatting about personal matters, occasionally glancing at me, who was clearly waiting to be assisted and yet, they did nothing. When I finally approached them, they interrupted the girl, who quickly dismissed me and said "I didn't check you in." Granted, I was wearing sweat pants and hadnt washed my hair yet, and at this point I was gussied up to the nines for the wedding, but she should have recognized me. That is her job. Thankfully I found my ID in my room, but I did not feel that I was treated properly. Onto the event... The ceremony was in the courtyard. It was nice and simple. After came cocktail hour. I was thankful for the open bar, but would have absolutely paid full price for drinks that actually tasted good. They made signature drinks for the wedding, which all tasted like grain alcohol (without the side effects) and when I asked for a Riesling, all I got was watered down grape juice. The waitstaff was pleasant but over-attentive. I must have said no to the same waitress five times for the same piece of food. There were only about 50 guests, so maybe the frequency of asking was higher, who knows. The reception was in the manhattan room, which was a really nice space. One of the accent lights on the ceiling was burnt out, which I guess wasn't a big deal to the bride, but it just looked cheap to me. The food was decent for a buffet. I enjoyed the prime rib from the carving station, and the tortellini wasn't bad, either. Other than that, nothing truly WOW'ed me. I got the same comments from other guests. I just hope that the bride and groom felt that their money was well spent!!!! read more

This place SUUUUUCKS!! I expected more from a hotel that is part of the W Hotels name. The decor is very nice but you should only stay there if you don't mind sleeping in a shoebox. Rooms are RIDICULOUSLY small. When you walk in, you walk into the bathroom! The closet is a hole with a curtain and the bathroom door slides closed (barely) so you don't exactly feel like you're getting any privacy. We ordered champagne and strawberries. Took at least 45 minute for them to bring it up and the guy who showed up was ghetto. Was wearing jeans and a button down shirt with the shirt tails hanging out. The staff at Holiday Inn is better dressed. Not to mention that he just completely walked into our room instead of just by the door. The next day they brought us a nasty breakfast which was NOT what we had ordered. What they call a bowl of fruit was strawberries and grapes. Nightlife...eh. For a Saturday night it wasn't all that. Very overpriced drinks and attitude from the bartender. Oh and I think there's high EMF in the rooms because we were on edge all night and woke up VERY edgy. Didn't sleep well. But felt fine once we left. High EMF's can make you feel that way. We should've stayed at the Westin across the street. read more

We could not be any less satisfied with this hotel, its management, and its shady business practices. We had a room booked to stay at the Aloft on Saturday night after a wedding we were in. Knowing that we weren't going to be able to go to the hotel at check-in time, my wife called to see if we could check in earlier. She was told that it wouldn't be a problem and that we can check in when we get there later that night. We arrived at the Aloft around 11:00pm and went to check in at the front desk. This is when we were told that the hotel was overbooked and that they did not have a room for us. This was obviously VERY aggravating, and we wanted an explanation of how that could have happened since we booked the room 3 months in advance. We were told that it happens sometimes because of online sales and that it's first come, first served when you check in. This explanation was ridiculous, and we explained how we called earlier in the day and were told it wouldn't be a problem to check in later and that I wanted to speak to a manager or whomever can make this situation right. I was told there was nothing they could do and no one they could get at that hour. We were offered a room at the neighboring Super 8 however. What a great consolation prize.... It's like going to a fine steak house and asking for the filet only to have the waiter tell you that they sold your filet to someone else and offering you a McDonald's burger instead. We were given the number of the general manager, Joe Pergine, whom I promptly called. There was no answer so accepting defeat, I left him a voicemail asking for a call back and headed over to the Super 8. Not hearing back from Joe, I tried him several more times on Sunday and Monday, leaving yet another message that was not returned. It is mind boggling that a hotel can overbook, then explain it that "it happens, and you just have to check in before the rooms are booked." If you overbook the hotel, don't bump the people that booked 3 months ago. If the hotel has 100 rooms, and the online system lets you book 101, tell the 101st person after they book that you don't actually have that room. Obviously the general manager has no interest in making things right with an upset customer. He doesn't even give the courtesy of returning a phone call. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again and will be sure to let everyone that will listen know not to stay there either. read more

I stayed for 7 nights and they put me next to the trash collection area. 233. So, at 6:30 or 7:30am I get loud dumpster collection noises which lasts for a while. So, if you are not an early riser, make sure you ask them to put you away from the dumpster. To be fair, they do have nice and clean rooms with courteous staff. read more

I stayed at Aloft recently and was excited to finally stay somewhere in South Jersey that did not reek of urine, cigarettes, or strange chemicals. Our room was spacious and the furniture was somehow retro and modern at the same time. The bed, floor, counters, and bathroom were clean (there is usually something filthy at most places). The shower was a great size for two people (you know, trying to conserve water..ahem) but it would have been nice to have a seat or stool in there for leverage. The front desk staff was overly friendly and very helpful and direct. Overall this place has a good atmosphere for single travelers and/or couples- not a good place for families with young children. Some things some hotel-goers may not like: -The Jersey Shore-esque lounge as soon as you walk in. I did not even bother to enter it since I forgot my popped collar and hair gel. -They only offered one bag of decaf and one bag of regular coffee in the room (and probably charged my ass for it). -There are no locks on the bathroom doors. -There was some kind of..bodily fluid.. on our hip neon green ottoman. read more

Long story short: booked a room at Aloft on hotels .com - called hotel Aloft to confirm my room - they informed me that hotel was overbooked and I would have to stay at Super 8. After much discussion and a partial refund I reluctantly agreed to stay at Super 8. The manager I spoke to at Aloft told me that the rooms were actually nicer at the super 8 (boy was I suckered into believing that). when I got off the phone I looked on the internet and found out super 8 was less than half of what I paid on hotels .com even w/ my refund. Called Hotels .com and they informed me that the Aloft was obligated to pay for all of my expenses to move to another hotel of my choice - the Aloft never informed me of this so I Called to talk to manager at Aloft but front desk clerk kept telling me how busy the hotel was. the manager was away from the front desk because there were three functions going on as well as a full bar. each time I called i could barely hear front desk clerk because apparently they had karaoke night going on. I've worked in the industry for many years and it's my understanding that a manager on duty is there to handle customer issues (among other things). I didn't get that impression w/ the Aloft staff. Aloft front desk agreed to send me linens and pillows to my room at Super 8 that night and promised that a manager would get back to me. Neither ever happened. I will admit that the front desk clerk at Aloft offered me a free drink which I never took her up on because I would have had to walk to the Super 8 had I done so. No only that but I don't drink. :-( Even w/ my partial refund I overpaid to stay at the Super 8 when I was booked at the Aloft. Unfortunately every hotel in the area was booked so I could not leave like I would have liked to. The Aloft took my money and gave me very bad service in the meantime - yet they seemed to be aware of the hotels .com issue since the front desk clerk told me that it happens often. She went on to tell me that I shouldn't have bought a room on hotels .com because hotels .com knows that they overbook and that they do it to make money. (WTF?) According to the front desk clerk at Aloft if Hotels .com charges more than 100 bucks for a room than I shouldn't have bought it because hotels .com knows the Aloft is overbooked. (when did it become my problem?). I would not recommend the Aloft hotel based on the single worst hotel experience of my life - on a bright note the Super 8 was actually nicer than I thought and I wouldn't have minded had I paid a reasonable rate for staying there. It's unfortunate I never received a call back from a manager to try and resolve my issue. I work for a major corp and I will do what I can to ensure that I inform as many people as possible about my experience. *sigh* read more

Fantastic hotel to crash for a couple of nights for a wedding. Reminds of hotels over in Asia, compact rooms, but well appointed. Comfortable bed, plenty of outlets, and even free wifi! Easy check in with SPG app, and keyless room entry with the app too. The ladies at the front desk were super sweet and fun. Bar and snack area in lobby, but didn't check it out. Be warned that the rooms that face Route 73 have a bit of noise coming from the road. I was on the 6th floor and could hear the big trucks and their air brakes. Great place! read more

A European style hotel with nice amenities. I stayed here overnight to avoid travel during a snow storm, and what a nice surprise it was. This is not your typical hotel, it is laid out quite differently than most American hotels. The main floor is a massive open space with a snack bar, bar, lounge space, eating, and computer stations. The staff desk is situated in the middle so it's easy to find someone to help. I stayed in a king size bedroom, and it was great. I would say that the actual room size is probably smaller than most hotels, but the unique layout and clever use of the space makes it quite comfortable. Very quiet room. The workout area is nice; good selection of equipment and plenty of space. Small lap pool. read more

This place is disgusting I did not enjoy my stay here at all the pool is FILTHY it's filled with dirt I thought it was a saltwater pool not a dirty bathtub. The bathroom in the pool area are filthy . I came here with my family and they could all see me shower threw a cloudy glass in the back of the shower which shows in the room. The beds were uncomfortable, no book in the rooms to tell you where anything is or that there are no ice machines you have to go downstairs to get a bag of ice . I never thought a hotel could be self-righteous until I pulled into a "hybrid-only" parking spot by accident at the Aloft. But besides the complex I got from driving an SUV, the Aloft was just fine. I was there for three days for a business function, and the space we were given was very adequate. When you first step inside the hotel, a very nice man greets you and takes you right where you need to be...a very nice feature for anyone who has gotten lost in a massive hotel on their way to a business function! The crowd it draws is a very yuppie-type group. The amenities in the hotel really caters to this group. If you are not in your mid twenties and drive a hybrid, you may feel like you don't fit in. But all in all the Aloft is clean, friendly & adequate. read more

If you stay, be sure to ask for a room away from the function room; assuming you want to get some sleep. We stay here a few times a year when we visit family in the area. Decently priced rooms, simple layout/design. Sort of a mod thing going. Beds and bedding are comfortable. Nice amenities too. Lowlights: a few times the room we have just taken has needed a vacuum which clearly didn't occur before we got there. Also, while usually quiet in the rooms, occasionally very loud from the hopping bar downstairs. Highlights: nice staff. Great bar. Easy drive in to Philly. Overall, quite good. Hip hotel, with a down-to-earth staff that still maintains being efficient and pleasant. Room was clean, with little signs of wear. Shower door had an inefficient design thus letting a good bit of water leak out. No big deal, but make sure you employee a doubled over towel at the entrance of the stall. Pool was convenient and clean, if but a bit overly chlorinated. Complementary internet was usable, but ultimately slow. Overall, if you're passing through our great state and need a rest from the road or visiting the aquarium and Philly for the weekend, I would recommend spending your nights here. read more

I stayed here for a week on business. I think a three is fair for my experience. The staff wasn't all that friendly or accommodating. I checked in and was provided a key but no additional info about the pool being closed or when the lounge was open, etc. I thought I was staying at a more professional hotel but it ended up being more like a party place. Multiple nights during my stay I was awakened in the middle of the night with people partying both on my floor and on the patio - like 2:45am when I had work or travel the next day. I guess I thought there'd be quiet hours or after a certain time it would be quiet. I also noticed a lot of trash on the floors both on my floor and in the lobby. The room was just ok. The morning I left there was pizza crust and candy just laying on the floor. My floor was being cleaned at that time and the staff just walked right past the trash on the floor. I think that it's a nice hotel but more geared towards partiers and not business professionals. read more

Stayed at Aloft on June 19th and 20th because it was my reception venue and let me tell you, it was great. First, the entire place is modern and edgy, so it has this cool vibe as soon as you walk in. The actual hotel rooms were just as cool and really take things differently. They aren't like any hotel I've ever stayed in which was really awesome. Oh and a random perk: they have shampoo/conditioner and body wash dispensers in the shower walls so you don't have to worry about those tiny little sample bottles found else where! Besides the room, the front desk staff was friendly and the WXYZ bar was really cool. Moving on to the reception space...it's remarkable! Definitely a sight to see in person!! Linda was great to work with, she made sure my block of rooms were set to go and Jenna was an awesome event coordinator. Can't wait to return! read more

Located in a convenient and safe location if you're traveling to the city. The hotel is super cute and modern. Didn't experience issues with much noise, other than some teenagers in the hall. The king sized bed is beyond massive. Only issues I can see were: they only give you 2 towels (which is resolvable with a phone call) and the HVAC system is really inconsistent. It was turning on and off all night, and really interrupting sleep. The temperature did not stay consistent at all in the room. That being said, I will (and am) staying here again. read more

Grab bar: variety of snakes and drinks and fruits by the front desk for sale. Free coffee in the mornings. Room (2 full size beds): just ok. Office feel with 2 desks, an extra long leather bench (not sure of the use or practicality) in between the desks, carpet wall, sharp angles. For me after a long day at work this room did not provide relaxation feel that I would prefer. TV: mounted on the wall. Does not move to position for a comfy angle. Remote control dirty. Direct TV. AC/Heat: rather loud. Significant delay between thermostat and the unit. Beds: I had a good night sleep. Found the full size bed to be a bit too short. No extra blanket readily available. Shower: standing shower. 2 mounted containers: shampoo/conditioner and shower gel. Soap from "Bliss"!!! Extra star for Bliss brand! Coffee maker: old!!! Coffee packets look as they have been laying there for years. Service: front desk and bar employees are friendly. I did ask for a room with one bed and was told that the reservation was made for 2 beds and my request was not granted. One star off for that. I definitely would enjoy king size bed rather that 2 small full size beds. Pool available. Gym available. At the check in clerk issues a hand out of hotel amenities. Nice touch. Aloft will not be my first choice for the next business trip. While I enjoyed the feel and amenities available, the room was not providing a relaxation feel. read more

I've stayed here a number of times while visiting in-laws. The Good -The rooms have a sense-of-humor about them. Feels like you're staying in the guest bedroom of an aspiring interior designer who has a lot of out-of-the-box ideas. I love the pops of color and mod accents. -I almost always read the niche magazines (Spin & Wired, I believe) left in the bathroom. -The bathroom sinks are lovely. I want that sink. -Excellent movie selection. This is a top priority for me. -Reasonable rates The Iffy -When I stayed here over the summer, we had to turn on the AC. It was so loud that we almost couldn't hear the movie we were watching. It was so loud that it kept waking me up during the night. I assume this won't be a problem in the winter. We shall see. -The self check-in machines almost never work. -The food bar is ludicrously expensive. There should be some kind of complimentary breakfast. -If you arrive late in the day (like we always do), the nightclub aspect of the hotel will be in full effect. You won't be able to hear yourself whine. But once you're in your room, everything will be peachy again. read more

I am in the minority with the decor, I enjoyed the modern aspect of the design and the Euro-seeming amenities. However, I was soon disappointed as the technically advanced features of the room that were a major selling point for me weren't operational for the duration of our stay. When I checked in, they told me the televisions were being upgraded and to let the staff in or I might miss out. I was watching television when they came in to switch out the cards. I left. Upon returning, I was greeted with a TV that no longer displayed any local or HD channels and which had no options for in-room entertainment such as movies, etc. As if that weren't bad enough, the box that allows you to hook your laptop up to the TV so you could watch your own entertainment wasn't recognized by the heretofore "upgraded" television, either. When I went down to the front desk, I was told that having only channels 2-14 was "fine," only the HD channels weren't working, and the issue would be fixed soon. It stayed that way for the entire 3-day duration of my stay. The doors do slam loudly and reverberate throughout the halls. You can hear a pin drop in the hallway and they also skimp on the pillows. All in all, 4 points for style and 0 for execution. read more

There's no closet in the room (rather, a 4 inch deep cutout in the bathroom with a flimsy curtain on it that can hang a few items. No drawers in the room either to store anything. The sliding door in the bathroom is wildly awkward and the air conditioning unit is louder than anything I have ever dealt with, particularly in such a small room. Hotel staff are less than accommodating. Stayed for three days a room only cleaned once. I asked a housekeeper for extra towels, she asked if I called downstairs in advance- I told her yes. She left me no towels, came back 15 minutes later with towels but by that time I had already showered. Wouldn't have been a big deal but for the fact she had towels with her!! Not sure why she left only to come back- as if my word weren't good enough. The staff just doesn't seem committed to service excellence. Considering all the neighboring hotels this would not be my default. read more

I really like the lobby and the rooms, very modern and cool. I'm grateful that the staff fixed the tv and wifi quickly as it wasn't working when we arrived at the room. And as much as I am a huge karaoke fan, having it blaring from the lobby, loud enough that I can easily distinguish the song (Say something I'm giving up on you...) from my bed. Bad. Bad enough that we're looking for a different hotel to stay at tomorrow night (I'd give an 8 to the singer. Pretty decent rendition). read more

This place has potential, unfortunately if you have any hotel knowledge at all, you will be pretty disappointed. Room smells of old wet towels. Toilet flushes with about 3 cups of water. HVAC is dusty, dry, and LOUD. Finish of the hotel is almost hostel like in the hallways. Rooms are definitely NOT cleaned well enough. Front desk was on the phone through my entire check in with her friend or somebody. Never even told me how to get to my room! No idea what anything costs or is available. Whoever renovated this place should be sued. Pretty elaborate facade, saving grace is probably the ale house next door. My guess is that this is a Kushner property, if you catch my drift... read more

Okay - housekeeping atrocious - didn't service room first night, left trash (packaging, food stuff from "restaurant" downstairs, etc. No soap. No liner in trashcan (thus our decision NOT to throw away food stuff). Stingy about towels. When I complained, all above was apparently my fault. Hotel service ridiculous. Had blow up bed for kids - they advertise this really cool option for kids. It was supposed to have cool kid sheets (whatever, it didn't. They shouldn't advertise it if it isn't true). It leaked. We asked them to come blow it back up. They never showed up to do this. Design flaws. Do I really want to see the other person showering through the translucent wall between the room and the bathroom? No. Why no lock on the bathroom door? I can't tell you how many times family members walked in on each other. Again, whatever, but it's just not how we normally roll. Family-friendly? Absolutely NOT. They are running parties at all times in the bar/reception area (it's loft-y, there is no separation). The first night there was a band playing in some entertainment room. One of the staff members suggested that it would really be fun for our family and our kids to go dance. We tried. The security guard at the door told us that it was inappropriate for kids. Oh sure - right - I guess I thought that since the staff member recommended that we come here exactly 2 minutes ago, that it might be okay for kids. My bad. read more

I've stayed here twice and had good experiences both times. The hip vibe is definitely more impressive the first time around, but it's still a nice change from your average hotel. In the elevators, the floors are like mood tiles that move around when you step on them (hard to explain, but just go in and start walking on the tiles. They were broken the last time I went, though.) The rooms are spacious, with comfy furniture and updated amenities. The customer service is definitely a highlight, with very friendly greetings when you come in. We woke up late one day and requested a later check-out than the standard (noon), and they actually were able to accommodate us, with no attitude involved (which can be rare--this coming from someone who often oversleeps and requires a late check-out request.) You do get what you pay for, and that's experience and service, with nicer-than-average amenities. I didn't partake of the bar, but everything has cool lighting, like you're at a club/lounge. I love that they always provide two water bottles with the room for free! Overall, a really nice place to stay if you're craving a different hotel experience. read more

I'm writing to back up what others have said about late night noise from the entertainment in the lobby. Oh, boy, they have a cool lounge for the young people to enjoy. So the people who've spent money to *sleep* at this *hotel* can just suck it up and lie awake between bedtime and the end of the evening's entertainment? I stayed there last fall. I smoldered for half an hour after my first attempt to fall asleep before I finally called, coincidentally just a few minutes before they were going to be ending the music for the evening anyway. If I recall correctly, it was after midnight. I see that the manager left a reply to another reviewer to the effect that they'll be happy to move anyone who's unhappy with the noise. In other words, it's up to everybody staying on the second floor to get ready for bed and then realize that the noise is going to make sleep impossible, get dressed again, pack again, and walk downstairs with their bags and go through a move? (I was on the second floor, so I don't know whether the noise is a problem on the higher floors.) Or, similarly, people who checked in during the quiet afternoon, unpacked, changed clothes, went out for the evening, and return at 10 expecting to sleep only to discover that they've gotta repack and move first? The thing is, I otherwise mostly liked the place. I might stay there again if I had some reason to think that I could get a room on a high floor and that the noise from the lounge would be inaudible up there. Sure, I understand wanting to provide a cool ambiance. But for a hotel to let that override its primary purpose and shrug its shoulders over it--that's a big middle finger that they're giving their overnight guests. Maybe they should just shut down their second floor. Or come to grips with the fact that the arrangement of the building makes their desire to be a happening night spot incompatible with their desire to be a hotel. read more

Steven at the front desk should not be in customer service. I spoke to him twice, very nice, trying to get an early check in as I was coming from out of state and he was rude and immature and extremely unprofessional. The second time I called he hung up on me. I will never be staying with aloft again. read more

Very nice, modern hotel in South Jersey. Great place to stay for a wedding. Bar downstairs with a Starbucks and a restaurant attached.
