09/30/23: Our stay for friends gathering. Cosy suite with amenities. Speedy check in. Greeted warmly by the staff. As a Marriot Bonvoy member good rate. Two double beds and sofa bed. TV in bedroom and living room. Refrigerator and coffee amenities. Small bathroom, layout not the best door very close to toilet to open and close. Bonus: Balcon.. sweet. All ind all nice stay for the price. Would select if returning.

First time traveling for work in years due to Covid. This Courtyard is in a location with other hotels in the area, I think I should of stayed at The Westin. Rooms are tired, old & outdated. Hair was wrapped around shampoo containers in shower, no more individual bottles. I usually don't travel with my charging brick & there were absolutely no USB chargers anywhere in the room. What? It's 2021 & nowhere to plug a USB in. The bistro is only open from 7am to 10am, I'm assuming Due to staffing. As you can imagine there isn't a lot of travelers. Disappointed my room was connected with some loud children on the other side. They need to do a better job spacing out travelers in rooms cause they sure have the room. All in all just blah.

Every business will stumble from time to time, it is how quickly we can get back to that counts. I have been a Marriott Bonvoy member for some time and stay at their properties frequently. That being said, I was very surprised at the overall condition of this property. My nightly rate was$180 and the room looked like what I expect to see if I was to go for a budget hotel. If nothing else, I expect cleanliness and great service when I over pay for substandard accommodations. The first thing that caught my eye was a half of a roll of toilet paper with a rough end touching the floor. Not what I normally see in this chain. That made me suspicious of the overall "clean" that they have spent so much effort advertising. The remainder of the room seemed ok just very dated. It was when I got to the bed part that ended my stay. I discovered bed bugs. I promptly collected what I could, photo documented one to confirm that's what I had and flushed them. I shook out my clothes that had been on that same bed, placed them in a laundry bad and headed for the desk. I requested a manager and was informed that I was speaking to one. I explained the situation and provided the photo and the time/ date/ location stamp so that could verify it occurred there. I said I wanted to be checked out. He informed me I would not be charged and that was the end of the conversation. Being a titanium member, I contacted customer service via email and included a photo. Given the inconvenience and the fact i now has to go wash my clothes at 9pm, expected reimbursement. I received an email the next day that my issue would be addressed. Two days later a call came from a claims specialist informing me that their "service " discovered no bed bugs and that the room had not been occupied all week.....I was there on Tuesday. When I informed her I have not only managed decontamination of many bed bug infestations she asked if I had any photos. Well, I did attach them to my initial email. She then asked for my email... also in my...initial email. She said to send her the photos so she can place them in the"file". When I said I would include my laundry receipts, she said they will not be paid. This is not customer service. This is an absolute disgrace to be questioned on the validity of my experience. The desk manager had every opportunity to obtain the photo and time stamp at the initial interaction. This claims specialist had my email with the photo attached and she didn't even apologize. Stay away from not only this dump but I recommend avoiding the chain in general. Bonvoy has not only gone down hill but has gutted the program while maintaining high prices and lower services during the pandemic. I am done with them.

FYi: still waiting on the second fraud investigation being conducted by Fulton Bank, as Marriott front desk also stole off my debit card, too. One down, one to go. Lesson learned, never stay at Marriott! By the way, check this out, i STILL HAVE SCARS from their bed bugs!! But Bob MacDonald said he had the room checked about a week after i checked out, and he said they had no evidence of bed bugs. My docs and pics of blood streaked sheets and insane allergic reaction on my body, yeah, those aren't evidence. Ok, I believe you, Old MacDonald!

Are you ready for the 411? Here we go...this was a business trip and my company pays for the cost prior to arrival. Usually I stay in a different hotel but since my colleague was staying here decided to stay as well! Big mistake on my part! Usually things like this don't bother me but today they plucked my last nerve. Do not get me wrong I could easily give them 5 stars on the cleanliness of the place but the customer service immediately reduced the rating. There was a billing issue and the manager was so abrupt and dismissive. It was basically the company had not paid, you figure it out but you need to move from this desk. I was surprised they allowed me to stay in the lobby while I called the travel agency. While I was resolving the matter nobody checked on me despite the fact I know the travel agency called and spoke to the front desk person. Then once it was resolved and I went back to have them check me in, they mysteriously "lost Internet service" yet checked in 3 other people despite their Internet issues. I had to literally ask them if they wanted me to leave because I just was not comprehending this level of poor customer service. I was checked in an hour later with a scripted apology. This was so surprising to me for a Courtyard but I guess this is how it is around here. Totally disappointed!

    Room looks decently spaced.

First the check in: I requested a 2:00 pm check in which is a hour earlier than the 3:00 pm posted time. I showed up at 2 and our room was ready. Check in was smooth and quick. The desk clerks were very nice. Our room: Seemed very clean. No problems at all. Didn't even find a stray hair. Bed was firm but not too hard. We didn't use housekeeping during our stay. So can't say anything here. The location did seem to attract some traveling school kids. I assume with sports teams. Of course you have kids you can have hallway talking and running. Of course this is not the fault of the property. Luckily this wasn't too bad. They found their rooms at a decent hour. Let's talk breakfast: Not bad at all. Each of the three days was a little different. Eggs, potatoes, French toast, waffles, bagels, pork sausages were all offered at one time or the other. All were hot. Let's talk about breakfast clean up. I witnessed the front desk folks cleaning up tables at the eating area. They did a great job with this, which allowed a lot of folks to roll through. The area: seemed safe and free of homeless or riff raff. Numerous places to eat, get gas or even shop at Walmart. So I do recommend this hotel and if back in the area would stay at again.

Next, I got into the smelly & defective elevator. I wondered if I accidentally hit a button the first time it called for Help. But then when it did this on my ride back to the lobby, I realized it wasn't me. This venture back downstairs was to ask about the "Sky Lounge" listed on the app as an on-property dining option with light bites. I was hoping to find libations, as I was trying to escape the persistent vacuuming right outside my door past 7PM. I encountered a pushy & sarcastic bartender at a bar in the corner of the lobby who said the "Sky Lounge" didn't exist. I ordered a vodka & soda from her to take back to my room since the lobby was still rowdy (a few hours later)--no soda could be detected so one can assume it was flat--just like this hotel stay.

Aloft one of Marriott's "modern" hotel lines (along with AC which is good). I've been at 3 Alofts because I like punishment apparently. So, what's wrong with Aloft? Look at the pictures. One is of the "closet". It's not a real closet. It can only hang 5 items because of the configuration. It has a shower curtain as a "door". And notice. NO DRAWERS. In fact, there are no drawers in the entire room. None. Everything is in the open. What modern person has essentially a non functioning closet and no drawers for anything? No one. That's who. Next is the edgy bathroom. This hotel is NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. Why you say? Look at the bedroom pic. That's a frosted window INTO THE SHOWER. See the shower pic to see the frosted window. How edgy that must be for a couple. Sure you can't see anything but you can see shadows. So do you want your kids trying to see if they can see mom in the shower? No of course you don't. Also, the shower section is barely lit so hopefully you can shower with your eyes closed in the dark. Finally, the materials are cheap and not well maintained. Everything is laminate fake wood and it's all peeling. And that's not just this one. It's been all 3. Plus plenty of other fit and finish stuff like the giant scuff on the wallpaper from the desk chair. Or the almost broken door lock. Oh and outlet placement is pretty terrible too at the desk. Now the good news is this hotel is next to a Millers. The wxyz bar is pretty good. And inside is a "high end" steak restaurant (not run by Marriott) which has a fantastic bar and terrible overpriced food (ok so that's not good news). I didn't interact with any staff so I don't know if they were amazing or not. Honestly, there are 20+ hotels in a 2 mile radius. Stay somewhere else. If you're Marriott, the Courtyard across the street is pretty good especially for the price. And if a manager reads this, don't reply back. Your best course of action is to find a better hotel to manage.

But their on line service was excellent. Saying that may lose a few people their jobs sadly. The room was good even while the sofa had a huge rip in the sofa cushion. There was a tv in the sitting room and one in the bedroom. The full functional kitchen was nice. But the freezer did not have a automatic ice maker. When I went to get ice on my floor. The ice machine was emptied and off. There was an ice maker on floor 2. The gym was very clean and nice. The typical treadmills, two different type bikes, free weights and weight machine, a yoga mat. I was very surprised that there was no sanitizer. Luckily I had sanitizer wipes with me to wipe down what I wanted to use. My shower had very good pressure. Really good heat, beyond the typical ok heat that a hotel usually has. I never like when the sink is in the opposite room from the toilet. Not a fan of that set-up. They have a nice pool but I'm not sure it's heated. But it sure did look like it. I didn't get to use it as I was only their for one night. But I could see myself spending plenty time in it. Their breakfast was pretty good. Monday - Friday 6 -10am weekends 7 - 10a. I don't drink coffee but heard few say the coffee was not good. The cranberry and orange juice mixed I had was good. The scramble eggs, potatoes, sausage was really good. Plenty table space and tables for large groups if was eating together. Big TV over the fire place. Over all, this is a good hotel and definitely could be a 5 star hotel. But for me the lack of personal touch is a loss star for me. Others might like that part though. But this is my review

When checking in there wasn't a luggage carrier available. When I asked the Fri t desk person she said 'guests usually don't return them to the checkin but, I did see one in the parking lot'. So, she KNEW there was one outside BUT, didn't go and get it to make it available. I had to go out in 95 degree temp to retrieve it. Poor. I checked in with my cat and told them I would not require housekeeping as I didn't want any issues. The very first morning housekeeping knocked on my door at 9am (I work until after midnight) waking me up. Clearly there isn't any communication between the desk and housekeeping. If I wasn't there, they would have come in and who knows what happens with my animal. I came down for breakfast (sit down and order taken and wasn't cheap). I sat for 10 mins and no one came to take my order. I had to go back to the desk and ask them if they could send a server to take my order. Mind you, I did hear them talking in the back kitchen area. Here is where it gets unacceptable. I took the prefer to go and, when I got to my room and removed the lid from my oj, there were fruit flies floating on it! One actually flew away. I was able to speak to the GM and let him know the whole story. I had then comp the food as I lost my appetite. I ran out of lotion in the bathroom on the 3rd day (I was staying just over a week) and asked the housekeepers in the hallway to refill it. Did that a few times and finally asked the front desk to tell them to do it as I was told there was a language barrier by the GM. Never happened. Poor. My last day I went down to get coffee (the one consistent good thing) and it wasn't there! Was told by the desk (same person from my checkin) that the GM decided they weren't offering free coffee anymore. A few things here. Being a corp location, that decision isn't his to make and, if you are having profit issues and think removing the free coffee is going to help you, it's time to rethink your leadership skills. I extended my stay, paid and when I returned at 1am from a long work day, my key didn't work. I had to walk all the way around to the front to have it reactivated. So, you'd think when I extended my stay they would set the key up to work properly. Nothing like having to make that walk at 1am in the rain. Last thing, I realized I had left some dress slacks in the drawer I called the next day and the person who I spoke to told me to call back the next morning. Terrible attitude and zero help. When I called the next morning, I was told there was a whole checklist in place that is followed so, it wound have been found when they cleaned the room. I asked if they could go and look as I was 100% positive I left them in the drawer. Never called me back and I'm sure they are still in the drawer. It was the lack of empathy that bothered me. My review is based on the service as I think the room was fine. The jacuzzi jets didn't work but, minor. Don't stay here if you are expecting a Hilton level of service. Just too many service issues that could/should have been avoided.
