Well this was a 3 night stay for us, so the review is reflected of this whole stay…read more A Friday to Monday stay which was also Memorial Day weekend. First the check in: I requested a 2:00 pm check in which is a hour earlier than the 3:00 pm posted time. I showed up at 2 and our room was ready. Check in was smooth and quick. The desk clerks were very nice. Our room: Seemed very clean. No problems at all. Didn't even find a stray hair. Bed was firm but not too hard. We didn't use housekeeping during our stay. So can't say anything here. The location did seem to attract some traveling school kids. I assume with sports teams. Of course you have kids you can have hallway talking and running. Of course this is not the fault of the property. Luckily this wasn't too bad. They found their rooms at a decent hour. Let's talk breakfast: Not bad at all. Each of the three days was a little different. Eggs, potatoes, French toast, waffles, bagels, pork sausages were all offered at one time or the other. All were hot. Let's talk about breakfast clean up. I witnessed the front desk folks cleaning up tables at the eating area. They did a great job with this, which allowed a lot of folks to roll through. The area: seemed safe and free of homeless or riff raff. Numerous places to eat, get gas or even shop at Walmart. So I do recommend this hotel and if back in the area would stay at again.

I'm assuming there are no other rooms where this could have taken place, but strange nonetheless. Then, the front desk was MIA--after waiting several minutes, two ladies walk up and basically blow me off. My first thought for a description: absent and apathetic. Next, I got into the smelly & defective elevator. I wondered if I accidentally hit a button the first time it called for Help. But then when it did this on my ride back to the lobby, I realized it wasn't me. This venture back downstairs was to ask about the "Sky Lounge" listed on the app as an on-property dining option with light bites. I was hoping to find libations, as I was trying to escape the persistent vacuuming right outside my door past 7PM. I encountered a pushy & sarcastic bartender at a bar in the corner of the lobby who said the "Sky Lounge" didn't exist. I ordered a vodka & soda from her to take back to my room since the lobby was still rowdy (a few hours later)--no soda could be detected so one can assume it was flat--just like this hotel stay.

The environment is relaxing and the rooms feel spacious. The staff is generally very attentive and makes sure guests have what they need. Breakfast is available in the morning and while it's nothing fancy it does the job. I also really like the location. It's quiet but still close to a good mix of restaurants and shopping. One added bonus is that Costco is less than ten minutes away. Overall it's a great spot if you're looking for a low stress and consistent place to stay.

The first room I was in was 1st floor, I came back the 2nd night and it smelled like an ash tray I asked to be relocated. My relocation up to the 2nd floor the room was clean and spacious. But the temperature control in the room was broken. One minute it's nearing 75 degrees the next I lowered it to 66 and it gets lower than that down to 60 degrees or less within a few minutes. It was constantly fluctuating, I barely slept at night. The A/C and heat system fan was so loud I don't think I slept a wink the entire week I was there. My toilet wouldn't stop running all night either. The neighbors were loud and screaming at their kids the entire night after 10pm. The fitness area was very small and limited , stationary bike was broken I couldn't adjust it for my height. The pool was cold. Laundry room was gross, door swipe did not work so the door was just open for anyone to come and go. Staff was nice and was nice to have breakfast served every morning but I won't be staying here again. When I checked out I did talk with the staff about my problems and how disappointing it was.

It breaks my heart to write this review being a fan of the brand generally, but I always believe in…read morebeing honest and so my honest review is merely a 2 star stay at this location. Keep in mind, this is only for a 2 day stay - and I'm thankful it's all I had lined up here. Something to also keep in mind is that I'm an incredibly easy 'customer' - I rarely ever complain like some others tend to do, even for the times I probably should. Normally I'd just dismiss it, but this time irritated me a little more than usual. The grounds are very nice and the location is very convenient. There are multiple hotels in the vicinity - some within walking distance - which makes the issues at this location baffling due to the competition all over the area. The first issue I had was the lack of hot water in the shower (the sink was fine). The first night, I had to run the water for over 10 minutes for the water to finally get warm enough (never fully as hot as I'd like it). The second night, I gave up after 20 minutes of no hot water. It was late and I didn't bother to complain, because I wasn't going to sit there while they tried to figure it out. I've never had this experience at any Courtyard or any other hotel before for that matter. Hell, I've stayed at seedy hotels and motels before (don't ask) and I never had this issue before. Keeping it on the subject of plumbing, the toilet was strange - sometimes you'd have to flush it twice. I guess it depended on whatever mood it was in and not the contents. It's one of those bathrooms where the sink is separated from the shower and toilet - I'm not a fan of that design, but it is what it is. Another issue I had were the horrible pillows. They really ought to have some variety, which includes offering firmer pillows. Three pillows and they were terrible. Three pillows and I can grab all three with one hand and still make a fist. I had to roll up the blanket to use as a pillow. I didn't sleep well either night I was there because of that. It's almost miraculous I didn't wake up with the sore neck I predicted I would. Yet another issue was the lack of turn down service - they never came into my room once during my 2 day stay and I was gone from the room for most of the days. Luckily I'm not a slob like other hotel guests are, so it was just a minimal issue to me and I still had enough towels. I just mention it to mention it. The mini fridge is really small (and had to be adjusted temp wise), so be strategic with whatever you choose to use it for - if at all. While some would complain about the "thin walls", it's more of the other hotels guests being loud, oblivious, weird, and rude and not the hotel's fault. They did put me in a room with an adjoining room - the guests on that side were a little loud, but once I blasted my TV they seemed to take the hint to pipe down a few notches. I didn't use any of the hotel amenities to comment on them. I didn't need the wifi, didn't bother with whatever "breakfast" they offered, didn't use the "fitness" room, or anything else. It was just in the room and out and nothing more. Everything was clean, though the lower outside of the tub had some marks on it that might make other guests complain. As mentioned, the grounds are nice and there was plenty of parking. Speaking of parking, they apparently charge a $10 daily parking fee for some reason - but mine was waved. A small bonus for the inconveniences of this stay, but to charge for parking here at all is a little strange. Most of the staff were acceptable. The two in the front I deal with were friendly. Some of the other staff however weren't friendly at all. I still plan to use Courtyard again - just not this location ever again. Hopefully this is not a trend and all others will start following the problems of this location, otherwise I might have to look for another brand to use altogether. Over a dozen hotels in the very immediate area and I chose the wrong one................this time.

I asked at the front desk and the employee's response was 'Breakfast starts at 7.' I told her that wasn't a good answer and she told me to calm down. (??!!) Guests have every right to the same breakfast at 10 as at 7; that's just basic hotel courtesy. I walked away and took greasy sausage to our room because the breakfast room was incredibly loud from a wedding last night. Marriott just lost our business unless we hear back from them, we're Bonvoy members and have been for more than 30 years. Stayed countless times. My husband went to the woman at the desk and she apologized, all good there. But this Marriott just isn't good.

I really really hate Aloft hotels. I seriously hope whatever "super hip and edgy" designer they…read morehired has been fired for ruining an entire chain of hotels. Aloft one of Marriott's "modern" hotel lines (along with AC which is good). I've been at 3 Alofts because I like punishment apparently. So, what's wrong with Aloft? Look at the pictures. One is of the "closet". It's not a real closet. It can only hang 5 items because of the configuration. It has a shower curtain as a "door". And notice. NO DRAWERS. In fact, there are no drawers in the entire room. None. Everything is in the open. What modern person has essentially a non functioning closet and no drawers for anything? No one. That's who. Next is the edgy bathroom. This hotel is NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. Why you say? Look at the bedroom pic. That's a frosted window INTO THE SHOWER. See the shower pic to see the frosted window. How edgy that must be for a couple. Sure you can't see anything but you can see shadows. So do you want your kids trying to see if they can see mom in the shower? No of course you don't. Also, the shower section is barely lit so hopefully you can shower with your eyes closed in the dark. Finally, the materials are cheap and not well maintained. Everything is laminate fake wood and it's all peeling. And that's not just this one. It's been all 3. Plus plenty of other fit and finish stuff like the giant scuff on the wallpaper from the desk chair. Or the almost broken door lock. Oh and outlet placement is pretty terrible too at the desk. Now the good news is this hotel is next to a Millers. The wxyz bar is pretty good. And inside is a "high end" steak restaurant (not run by Marriott) which has a fantastic bar and terrible overpriced food (ok so that's not good news). I didn't interact with any staff so I don't know if they were amazing or not. Honestly, there are 20+ hotels in a 2 mile radius. Stay somewhere else. If you're Marriott, the Courtyard across the street is pretty good especially for the price. And if a manager reads this, don't reply back. Your best course of action is to find a better hotel to manage.

No personal contact at all with any staff members. With this online life. I think company ratings will go down. How can you rate the staff if you don't meet or interact with any of them? But their on line service was excellent. Saying that may lose a few people their jobs sadly. The room was good even while the sofa had a huge rip in the sofa cushion. There was a tv in the sitting room and one in the bedroom. The full functional kitchen was nice. But the freezer did not have a automatic ice maker. When I went to get ice on my floor. The ice machine was emptied and off. There was an ice maker on floor 2. The gym was very clean and nice. The typical treadmills, two different type bikes, free weights and weight machine, a yoga mat. I was very surprised that there was no sanitizer. Luckily I had sanitizer wipes with me to wipe down what I wanted to use. My shower had very good pressure. Really good heat, beyond the typical ok heat that a hotel usually has. I never like when the sink is in the opposite room from the toilet. Not a fan of that set-up. They have a nice pool but I'm not sure it's heated. But it sure did look like it. I didn't get to use it as I was only their for one night. But I could see myself spending plenty time in it. Their breakfast was pretty good. Monday - Friday 6 -10am weekends 7 - 10a. I don't drink coffee but heard few say the coffee was not good. The cranberry and orange juice mixed I had was good. The scramble eggs, potatoes, sausage was really good. Plenty table space and tables for large groups if was eating together. Big TV over the fire place. Over all, this is a good hotel and definitely could be a 5 star hotel. But for me the lack of personal touch is a loss star for me. Others might like that part though. But this is my review

The parking in the front was full but there was ample parking in the back as well as an entrance there. However, the door at the entrance was malfunctioning slightly and had to be opened just the right way. We explored the area and enjoyed both an ice cream shop and a bakery nearby. Our room was ok. There was signs of wear and tear but nothing really egregious. The biggest detraction was the next morning when we were getting ready. My aunt left the bathroom saying that she couldn't get the shower to work. I went to check and sure enough, there was a hole in the back of the showerhead. A small bit of water was coming out of the front of the shower head while the rest poured out the back. Looks like we weren't taking showers (unfortunately as we had a long car ride ahead of us). I went to the front desk on our way out. It appears the air conditioning was out in the lobby (unfortunate during a scorcher of a summer). I let the front desk agent know that the shower in our room wasn't functioning and that they might not want to check anyone in to that room again. She asked if I had submitted a report yesterday (I hadn't). She looked in their system, found the report for our room, and said she'd add an additional note. I walked away wondering why we got checked into a room with a known malfunction. Alas, with plenty of other hotel options in the area, I won't be returning to this one.
