The best part of this hotel is that it's across the street from a bus station that can take you on a quick 20 min trip to Penn station in the heart of New York City. The worst part of this hotel is that the attached parking garage is not secure and during our stay, one of the other hotel guests had all 4 of their tires stolen off their vehicle while it was parked in the overnight parking structure. read more

I will say I appreciate that they have free parking, as that can be hard to come by in this area. Stayed here with the fam for a mini trip to American Dream Mall and it was pretty comfortable. The room was clean and spacious with a comfortable king bed, sofa bed, mini-fridge, microwave, and a decent work desk. Everything felt modern and well-maintained. Kids had a great time running around and watching TV Free breakfast at the hotel was a hit. My son loves scrambled eggs and breakfast sausage so he piled up on it. They had a nice selection and a lot of fruits as well. I also enjoyed using the fitness center. They had a good selection of barbells, dumbbells, and machines. We got a good workout every day The parking situation was a bit weird. They have a small parking lot in front of the hotel but if it's full, you need to use the parking garage next door and can only do the second or 3rd floor. it's not too far off but would be a pain to carry all your suitcases up and down those stairs. Try and find a space up front! Overall, this is a great choice for the area if you want something clean, comfortable, and convenient. Recommended! read more

Stayed here during our New york trip and it was one of the best stays I have had. The hotel was great the room was large,spacious and clean. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The best part of taking this hotel was the NJ transit bus to NY right outside the hotel. The bus would run every 15 to 20 mins both ways. We would get off and walk into the hotel in under a minute. Honestly, this Hyatt exceeded my expectations!!! It was a nice facility in and of itself, but the proximity to the city and the cost were really stellar! I have typically been able to stay with loved ones while visiting the city, so trying to find a place to stay nearby that was affordable was a small quest. I was thrilled to find this Hyatt. To make it even better, the hotel offers free parking! I normally have not had a car while visiting the area, but I did in this instance, and the ease of parking was really remarkable. The hotel is right by the bus stop, making it a very short ride into Manhattan. I only stayed here one night on my recent trip, but I would certainly stay here again! read more

Brilliant, secret gem for out of town tourists who do not want to pay exorbitant Manhattan hotel prices, but want a newly renovated, huge room with sofa and separate section with microwave and mini-fridge, as there is a bus going straight to Times Square mere steps from the hotel. The staff is wonderful. Huge accolades to Phurbu for handling some nasty international guests with such kindness and professionalism (I was in line behind one of them, who snapped at her for asking innocuously if they wanted one or two room cards). Breakfast was fine - hot food included pancakes, eggs, sausage and herbed potatoes. Apple and orange juice. Toast options included English muffins, bagels, white/wheat bread. Bananas and oranges in bowls. No decaf, and milk for the coffee was either 2% or Coffeemate (original flavor). Subtracting one star as there is not much noise proofing; the bathroom sink is located OUTSIDE the bathroom - in the bedroom; and the **body/hair products for the handicapped tub is nonsensically locked to the wall SO HIGH UP** rather than further down near the level of the controls, that it is difficult for a person with accessibility issues who is taking a bath or with knee issues to reach for them. read more

The good things first - breakfast is included, and it is not to shabby; it's very close to the meadowlands expo center (where I was attending a conference); they gave a free bottle of water (hey they generally charge $6 for that), and the room was fairly spacious. Do yourself a favor and keep it moving; do not book with them. I got here and, maybe no fault of theirs, but they couldn't find my reservation when I booked for other people. Saturday night, someone in my party's toilet was clogged so they did what you do, called the front desk ... multiple times. They were told once they didn't know where it was, another time they were waiting for someone to come in, and the final time no one was going to search the entire building for a plunger. 6am, still no call back, no assistance, no plunger, they go to buy a plunger so their family can use the bathroom. Get ho on Sunday morning to leave, use the elevator to get breakfast and to go back to my room after breakfast to get packed up. I have everything packed including my infant boys in their strollers and the elevator doesn't work - the best part, no one says anything. We call the front desk to check on timing and then call back to see if we can get some assistance and nothing. We took our stuff and kids down four flights of stairs to get to our car. A lot of people like to go to hotels for comfort beds and rest, but these beds weren't even comfortable and the couch in our room was stained. I'll think twice before staying at a Hyatt hotel again. read more

I recently booked a room for a night to get some much-needed rest between trips and had a very sub-par experience. This hotel is in dire need of some urgent tender loving care and a solid cleaning. The rooms are spacious but very outdated. Mine had stains all over the carpet, the furniture was covered in dust and the bathroom was cleaned perfunctorily, at the point that I used my sanitizing wipes to ensure a minimum of hygiene. This hotel is catfish! The hotel is old and being sold as modern. The walls to the carpet are dated. I'm not sure how this hotel has an overall rating of 3.5. I gave it 2 stars because it's in a decent area and has a bed. If you're looking for a nice hotel to spend a good amount of time in while you're gone... it's not this one. It's not easy on the eyes. If you're looking for something to sleep in and serve its purpose, only come here if the price is lowered. Not to mention, the walls are paper thin. Nothing really special about this hotel at all. If I could give 3.5 stars I would. Very disappointed there is No pool as my son was looking forward to it. The ambiance and decor when you first walk in is quite nice. There's a Starbucks sign however I couldn't find the Starbucks? The rooms aren't bad. The size was pretty decent for a standard double bed room. We liked the sofa and the desk area. The tv with cable and USB ports was a nice touch. The free breakfast was ehh- OK. The bacon was decent. However no waffles, no pancakes no French toast. Just cereal, scrambled eggs, bagels, fruit, granola yogurt (for the most part). I'm returning to this area in a few months and I don't think I would stay here again because of the fact there is no pool. However I would stay here again if it comes down to this hotel vs. a pricier one because the stay was pretty cheap. read more

This hotel was in a good location. The parking was free, service was friendly, and decor was nice. The room was a pleasant surprise for there was a pull out couch and kitchenette area with a coffee pot & refrigerator at no extra charge. In addition, there were plenty of restaurants near by as well as a shopping center. In addition to the restaurants, there is a NJ transit bus stop across the street from the hotel ( less than 10ft,) that takes you to NYC Port Authority for only $8.50. This was a great experience! At 8:30 am, both days we stayed here, housekeeping knocked on our door to come clean the room. This is excessively early, first of all. Secondly, on the second day (checkout day, which is noon), we hung a "do not disturb" sign on the door to go get breakfast. When we came back, many of the linens had been moved around. We could tell someone had come in despite knowing we had not checked out yet and having a do not disturb sign on the door handle. This is the first time since before covid began that housekeeping came in your room without being requested. read more

Do not book here if you are disabled or unable to climb stairs bc their elevators do not WORK! We had to stay on the 9th floor and the entire time we stayed the elevators did not work! The employees could careless about it and there is no sense of urgency with anything. Also the hotel is old and disgusting. Ceilings and carpets are absolutely filthy. Do yourself a favor and save your money! Go to the Hilton a few miles up the road instead. read more

Not only is it an easy commute to and from the City, and to and from Newark airport, it's the best breakfast of any Hyatt Place I've ever been to! If you are a World Of Hyatt member you get the breakfast free and it's everything. Eggs, sausage, fresh fruit, oatmeal with all the toppings, roasted potatoes, bagels and toast with all the toppings, juices, cereals...! With Seattle's Best coffee this really saves me time in the morning to grab a big hearty breakfast before I leave for the day. In addition to that, the front desk people are professional, efficient, the room was sparkling clean and quiet and the room was shockingly inexpensive compared to others in the area...Thank you! read more

You get a lot of room for the money. Just outside of NY, but you will need to travel through the Lincoln tunnel to and from the city, which will take extra time. We stayed here for a school trip with 3-4 people to a room. The rooms are large with plenty of space. My only complaint is coffee service; this is a really big deal to most people who get up early. Our group was up and out by 7:30/8. Coffee service was very late on the weekday mornings and doesn't even start until 7 on weekends, it was late then too. For chaperones on this trip trying to get in coffee before the kids start moving and the bus comes, this was a problem. They "proudly serve Starbucks" large signs in the lobby. They Made a big deal visually but didn't follow through. The gym is very small and not maintained very well. read more

I think this is a great hotel. Pros: The room is very spacious and laid out well, including having the sink outside the shower/toilet area so one person can finish getting ready while another is showering. It's within walking distance of places to eat, shop, and a movie theater. It's within a short drive to Liberty State Park where you can take a ferry to Ellis Island and Liberty Island to see the Statue of Liberty. The bus to New York (which is only $3.95 each way) is across the street from the back entrance of the hotel and takes you right to the Port Authority Bus terminal which is pretty much in Times Square so you can either walk to attractions from there or hop on another bus or train to get where you need to go. Free wireless internet. Free continental breakfast. Cons: Wireless is a bit slow, but we were on the 6th floor so it might be better on the lower floors. I recently stayed at the Hyatt Place in Secaucus, New Jersey and I was pleasantly surprised by my stay. I was visiting Secaucus for three days for the 2014 Tri-State Food Expo at the Meadowlands Exposition Center. The Hyatt was mere footsteps from the exposition center and multiple chain restaurants, making this a very desirable location if you are traveling without a car. The hotel has been recently remodeled so the rooms are very spacious and modern. My hotel room included a wet bar, work area, and sectional couch in the entryway. As you walked into the room I was greeted to a massive bed and a 42" flat-screen television. The only area that was cramped in my room was the bathroom. The tiny bathroom did, however, add extra square footage to the bedroom. The sink was located outside of the bathroom (convenient if you are traveling in a group), but the bathroom was just large enough for a stand-up shower and toilet. You have to squeeze into the bathroom corner to close the bathroom door. Everything was in good, working condition, but I do wish the lights were brighter in the bathroom. Amenities in the room included complimentary WIFI, complimentary breakfast in the lobby, a safe, refrigerator, coffee maker, ironing board and hair dryer. While only shampoo, conditioner, and soap toiletries were offered the room did boast that additional toiletries and amenities (cell phone charger) were available for free, to be borrowed, or purchased if you forgot something at home. The complimentary breakfast wasn't great or terrible. Hot options such as breakfast sandwiches and oatmeal were available as well as cold cereal, yogurt, fruit, toast, bagels, and a lackluster variety of store bought pastries. The coffee was bitter and the juices were watered down, but hey, it was free and convenient! While there really wasn't a bar area in our hotel there was wine available for purchase in the lobby. We enjoyed a bottle of Rodney Strong one evening that we did not feel like going out after dinner. If I wanted a more social area to drink at I may have chosen the Embassy instead, but I don't know if the rooms would have been as nice as the Hyatt. Unless you have a convention in this plaza I really don't see the need to stay anywhere in the Meadowlands Plaza area. If I attend the Tri State Food Expo in 2015 I will be more than likely booking a room at the Hyatt again. read more

This hotel is a 3 star hotel with plenty of free parking and an overall nice experience. It's not going to wow you with any of the room features or a fancy view. It comes complete with a decent hotel Buffet breakfast with serviceable food, you won't be dying for a second plate but you won't be hurting from anything later either. The happy hour at check in is nice, they make whatever they can with what they have and while it's not fast, they're not a real bar after all, you do get a healthy pour and a nice drink. This brings me to the staff and the reason for the 4+5 stars for my review. Jeff and his coworkers were fantastic upon check in and during our entire stay. They were pleasant, personable, easy going and overall left us with a very memorable stay even though it wasn't our longest trip ever! Kudos to you Jeff for being you, keep it up! read more

Ok, it's time to have a talk about professionalism and etiquette. My sister, my mom and I just had to walk to a different hotel at 11:30 pm the night before my sister's college admissions audition. From about 7:30 pm (when we arrived back at the hotel) until we left, teenagers from a school group were running up and down our hallway, slamming doors, hanging out outside / on our door, and generally hooting and hollering. We didn't call the desk to complain until 9:30 pm when we were winding down since we have to wake up before 6 am tomorrow to get into the city. No staff came up to check the hall or try to change anything. Three calls were made with no change. Finally, a staff member came up to OUR room and called us out (in front of all the students still running up and down the hall and yelling behind her) for complaining and claimed that "everything was quiet when I came up, it's hard to tell where the noise you're complaining about is coming from." We asked to be moved to a different room, and it was refused because "there are school groups on every floor" and suddenly the same reason that they claimed didn't exist was the reason that changing rooms would be a problem. 11:30 rolls around and the noise had only gotten louder. There were now teenagers running throughout the hotel (including the lobby). We were so frustrated that we decided to check out and check in at the nearby Holiday Inn instead because it was so loud. We were assured that our receipt would be ready and waiting for us at the desk to check out. We arrive downstairs to find that nothing was ready for our checkout and the staff was huddled making VERY open derogatory comments about us, such as, "Oh, there's a new sheriff in town." We had reservations from last night through Sunday. We were refunded for tonight. Called Hyatt Corporate to report the incident and they called the manager of the hotel after listening to our story before getting back on the phone and simply saying, "Well, you were refunded for tonight. I'm sorry for your experience. Have a great evening." No matter how small of an issue staff found it to be, it should NEVER be ok to go directly to a customer who has made a complaint and make a spectacle of them in front of those that they are complaining about. Beyond that, is is NEVER ok to openly ridicule a customer IN FRONT OF THEM. I know the customer is not always right, but COME ON. Hyatt has permanently lost two generations of customers in this family tonight. read more
