Sundra provided a wonderful service for my mom and all of her animals. Our family was very happy with the service. Her set up was lovely and all of the pictures she took were great. Now my mom is with the whales she loved so much. Pastor Allen did a wonderful blessing and I was so happy to have him there. The price of the service was very reasonable and I'm so happy that we were able to include all of her animals ashes as she had requested. Couldn't have ask for anything more. I highly recommend this service.

Sundra was everything and more! I feel like our mom guided us to finding her and Aloha Ash Scattering for mom's celebration of life. Not only was the set up beautiful, Sundra included the kids to help her with the flowers, so that they could be part of it. She spent time talking with us, looking at pictures of our beautiful mother, and getting to know why Maui was our mom's chosen resting spot. From the pictures we took, Sundra took, to the Aloha in the sand, my heart will forever be reminded of this beautiful day that Sundra helped us honor our mom and her last wish! Mahalo Sundra. Aloha

Sundra Yim, the owner and operator, is without a doubt the most amazing and compassionate person to facilitate the scattering. The beauty, ceremony and personal touch made what was a day of sadness into a day of joy. My whole family were amazed and impressed with her ability to exude empathy and the personal touch we all hope for. I highly recommend her service and thank her for her professional and empathetic service.

Sundra provided a beautiful and tasteful scattering ceremony with my mom's ashes. While my mom did not make it through Lahaina fires, I am absolutely certain that she would have wanted to been laid to rest in the ocean near where she lived for most of her life. The pictures are lovely and will give great comfort to the rest of our family.

Sundra and Kaleo of Aloha Ash Scattering gave my Brother a wonderful send off in Kihei, Maui. His ashes were scattered where my parents had been scattered years ago off of Kamaole II Beach. They show great respect, love and kindness throughout their dealings with you which was also reflected in the beautiful send off they gave my brother. Thank you for taking such good care of him and welcoming him to Maui! PS This is the second time I have trusted a loved one in their care. They handled my Mother's ash scattering in 2014 as well. Mahalo

Sundra of Aloha Ash Scattering and Pastor Allen held a beautiful and touching paddle-out ash scattering for my niece. She passed away last year at 14 and this was a difficult and important send off for my family. Sundra is so very kind and is an absolutely great and organized communicator. She was easy to coordinate and plan with, including a last minute reschedule due to a canceled flight. During the ceremony both Sundra and Pastor Allen felt like they were part of our family and smiled, cried, and laughed with us as we remembered our sweet girl. Everyone used the word "perfect" to describe it. Sundra was also so cool with my 10 year old niece and let her help with arranging the flowers and even offered to let her try riding her surfboard. The beach that Sundra picked for the scattering was perfect. I look forward to visiting it the next time we're in Maui. The pictures and certificate that you receive after are beautiful. We couldn't have imagined better people to help us with this special time. It truly was perfect. Thank you so much, Sundra and Pastor Allen! We will be forever grateful to you.

I don't think I would've made it through anything. The staff at Ballard Family Mortuary specificallly Charisse and funeral director BJ provided my family and I with EXCEPTIONAL CARE. I can't thank them enough for the love, care, and support they have provided us during such a difficult time. From the first initial phone call... to the time of my fathers burial, BJ and Charisse made sure that everything was covered: flowers, program, obituary, and more. They both were so compassionate, kind, and very much patient. ( FYI- I am a type-A person, who ask's a lot of questions and clarifies more than once. ) Never once did I have to question about the care or the details of the services. In addition: My dad looked incredibly handsome and young in his casket- shout out to their make up artist! Most importantly, the services ran smoothly and I didn't have to worry about what was next. At the end of the services, I considered them part of my family. The only downfall is that we wished to have his funeral services on the weekend but couldn't do the burial due to low staffing at Haiku Memorial Park. Lastly, If you're looking for who to trust with your loved ones definitely consider Ballard Family Mortuary. I recommend their services and would give them a 10 star if I could.

They picked him up in a cargo van with no air-conditioning and put a plastic cover over his body. Wish I was in the state of mind to take photos of this disgusting treatment The sad thing is they have a hearse but were too lazy to send the hearse out. I hope all the ghosts of the mistreated dead people haunt them.

I personally recommend going with Nakamura's as we had an absolutely inexcusable, horrible experience with Ballard's when my dad passed away (see my Yelp review). FUNERAL PLAN: Now that my spouse and I are middle-aged, it was time to start paying for our funeral and boneyard plans. We met with a friendly gal by the name of Nicole at Maui Memorial Park who helped us set up our plan and made sure we had arrangements strictly with Nakamura's and not awful Ballard's. We went through all the steps and made monthly payments. FUNERAL "HOME": Only in Hawaii do you have mortuaries and not traditional funeral homes like you find in the mainland US. While I can't comment on planning a service here, I can give my perspective as a grieving guest. If you're a non-religious family, this place is perfect as you can bring in anyone you want as far as leading the service. Parking can be a problem especially if you have a large family or if the deceased person was well known. There a few stalls on the lawn adjacent to the building and some in the back. It looks horrible with all the cars parked right out front but what are you supposed to do? There are unofficial street stalls along Lower Main Street but park at your own risk with Maui's terrifying driver skills. A small reception area greets you upon entering, good enough for a small 2-person table to collect cards. The main viewing room has a church-like setup with rows of pews split into three sections. Lighting is bright and not very ambient but the acoustics are good. Numerous split a/c units kept the room cool. Another popular local tradition is to feed your guests after the service. They have a small room with communal tables towards the back of the facility. Local catering companies do this all the time so set up/breakdown is usually a breeze for them. OVERALL: Trust me, go with Nakamura's for you or your loved one's home-going ceremony.
