Very cool spot away from all the insanity of Kemah. Within walking distance of carry out pizza and other food. Nice outdoor seating.

We were greeted right away by the wonderful owner. This place is a dog HEAVEN! I love places that treat dogs like the royalty they are. The yard is spacious and mostly fenced in... it may be entirely fenced in when there isn't an event like the cruise night going on. Tons of places to sit. Great local beer selection. Friendly bartenders. This is a great place to stop just to relax in the shade with your best friend, or attend one of their awesome and often events. I'm already looking forward to the next one!

It honestly pains me to write this because I've really loved Penny's over the past six months…read more My husband and I started coming here in May 2025 because it was advertised as dog friendly and had great craft beer, something we both love and even brew ourselves. On our first visit, we learned about the late Penny, the dog the farm was built in memory of. The staff were kind, told us our dog was welcome to visit anytime, and we've been regulars ever since, usually stopping by once a week. Tonight, I arrived a few minutes before my husband and took our dog to the garden like we always do to pay our respects to Penny. After less than two minutes, a woman suddenly screamed at me to "get out immediately." I was shocked, since I'd never seen her before and thought she might be yelling at the nearby kids playing football. But it turned out she was yelling at me. I left right away and said, "I'm so sorry, I thought we were allowed in here. I've never been told otherwise." She shouted, "I'm the owner. Get your dog out of there." I said, "Ma'am, I'm complying, but your staff have always told me this was fine. You may want to clear that up with them." She replied, "I'll have a talk with them." I was really shaken up and waited for my husband to arrive. When we went inside, the owner asked to speak with me and said, "The only thing I'll apologize for is that the 'no dogs allowed' sign fell off. The woman I was with told me you sounded absolutely crazy and combative." My husband started recording because of how unprofessional she was being. I explained, "I think trying to talk across a field can make anyone sound upset. I just wanted to clarify that I've always been told dogs were allowed." She said again, "Well, you sounded absolutely crazy." I ended the conversation by saying, "We must have different communication styles. I'm going inside to enjoy the place I came to support tonight." Once inside, several other customers came up to me, telling me they'd had similar experiences with the owner's rude and combative behavior. To be clear, I completely understand if the owner doesn't want dogs in certain areas. That's her right. The issue is how this was handled. * The owner was unnecessarily aggressive and unprofessional. * There's no clear signage about where dogs are allowed. * The staff clearly haven't been trained consistently on this policy. Every other staff member I've met here has been wonderful, which makes this even more disappointing. I hope the owner takes this feedback seriously, because no customer deserves to be yelled at for following the same directions they've been given for months.

The doors are open and they have a huge fan on the ceiling and other fans on the floor. I found out that they allow dogs. That night Caffeinated Canine Rescue was there having a raffle and offering free stuff mainly for dogs. People brought their food. There was also a ring toss game on the tables. They have different events happening most nights and they're pretty laid back. I'll definitely come back.

We stopped by for Trivia Night on a weekday and the parking lot was completely full. I ended up parking on the street a few minutes away by foot. Ambiance (3/5): Rob Ray's is a casual, no frills, open air taproom. Most of the seating is at picnic-style tables. After a while, I grabbed a chair to have some back support. There's also no A/C so I imagine it can get pretty toasty when it's hot outside. The walls are covered with flags of different colleges. I found my alma mater, the University of Michigan, which was pretty awesome! Service (4.5/5): You order at the bar. The service is friendly and even Rob Ray was there. He introduced himself and asked if it was my first time. There was a bit of a line at some points but it moved quickly. Food (N/A): While they don't serve food, they do allow you to bring food. There's a taco joint across the street and they have a menu at Rob Ray's. You can call in and pick up your order. Drinks (4/5): Now this is what we're here for! They have a nice selection of beers on tap and bottled beer. I'm all about the variety and trying new beers so that's what I did. Every single beer I tried was one I had never had before. They also have some seltzers. If you're looking for a deal, you can buy tokens at a flat rate. They also allow you to make donations with your purchase to firefighters, nurses, police officers, etc. which is a really nice touch. It makes giving back easy if you'd like to do so! Overall: While I wish they had A/C and the seating was a little more comfortable, I would definitely return to try out some more of their beers. Trivia was a good time too. They had prizes for first and second place. While my team didn't win, we fought valiantly until the end!

Steak night advertisement is why I came on a Wednesday from it's Instagram page. From the entrance there's nothing like this place. Outside inside, wood built bar, 2 stories, gravel rocks parking and grass entrance. Has the feel of a local crawfish spot but good hole in the wall joint, with good food good prices drinks and vibes. Everyone here either greeted with a smile or greeted with a hi. That's right, leave your worries home, and any bitterness you have on your chest, cause this isn't the place for it. No kiddos here or young folks either. Closes 2am every night. Seems like a more club on the weekend, I can only imagine with alot of open flooring space and a DJ nightly. Grown Grown here. This place... I should of been coming a long time ago. This place is Underrated. Forget your chain bars these days, this is where it's at. Bathrooms, and tables and service everywhere. Behind a Shipley's donut along side the feeder road. You'll miss this place if you blink. Sat up top for the views, FIRST TIME. Fans are near seating so you're not hot. Food is ordered downstairs but they bring it to you wherever. But drinks can be ordered any area in here. MULTIPLE BARS INSIDE A BAR. Steak was tender. But wanted Medium well, it was more like Medium, but turned out better than I normally thought. Seasoned, butter and savory hands down, and potatoes was well done, and fully loaded. Drinks were stiff here as well. I can only imagine a Fri-Sun night... more crowded, probably standing at times for a seat. Parking lot is first come first serve, very limited. And of course parking near Shipley Donuts when they're closed, in case full, just another secondary. I would really recommend this place if you like enjoying outdoor eating and music with a crowd. This is a real bar, no questions. Must try on your bucket list.
