While the noodles aren't the traditional "extra wide egg noodles" the spiral noodles certainly aren't a dealbreaker! :-) Then, recently, I decided to try something different: the Jager Pork Schnitzel. The fish and chips, brats, and prime rib French dips were really good. The building and atmosphere is nice, and there is a dog friendly patio. Parking is terrible, the only places to park are fighting for meter parking on the street or $16 all day parking in designated lots. The beer on tap isn't as cold as it should be, and there isn't a whole lot of options. But long story short, there's about one beer of most different styles, the food was very good, and the location was great for sightseeing or hopping in your cruise ship. read more

I'm familiar with Stuttgarden Tavern as I've eaten at the Galveston location before. A year ago as a matter of fact. The Texas City branch, however, I would pass up without a second thought until yesterday. With the huge Cowboys-Texans (GO TEXANS!) game looming on the horizon, I debated where to watch it since I didn't feel like staying home for the biggest gridiron brawl of the year. So that was how I found myself at this superb eatery in what used to be the Mall of the Mainland. Getting a table was easy as several of the customers were in the bar area. I sat close to the business's indoor patio with about three TVs within my sights. The last meal I had at Stuttgarden was the bangers and mash. I went with it again when my waitress, Madi, said that the accompanying bratwurst could come to me spicy. Ladies and gentlemen, my dinner was wunderbar! I was impressed with the nicely flavored brat and the even amount of side dishes served. I commend Madi for keeping the Dr Peppers flowing as well. Atmosphere-wise, this Stuttgarden is simple, laid-back, and Cheers-like. It boasts a neighborhood watering hole feel though it occupies a good chunk of space inside a deal mall. There are plenty of games to pass the time with, but what really sold me on the place was the fact it hosts karaoke and steak nights. Now if I could only make it out to one or the other. Like I told one of the waitresses as I left, they need to start getting used to me dropping by regularly as I'm head over heels with the spot. Whoa, almost forgot. We came here with a friend because we like the one in Galveston and found out about this one and it's closer to home! The food was so good. We had pork cracklings and sauerkraut balls for appetizers. The guys had pork schnitzels and I had shepherds pie. We ate it all, it was just so good, even when we were full, we kept eating. I also had the key lime martini and the guys had specialty beers. We had good service and like this location's ambiance better than the location in Galveston. The drinks can be really hit or miss, which is unfortunate because it's not cheap. The bathrooms aren't always clean either with can be frustrating, especially in a pandemic. I'm not sure what's going on in the kitchen over there but I don't think k we will be returning. Unless it's just for the drinks. UPDATE: we tried again yesterday. I edited my review to 2 stars. We won't be back. The food was bad. I ordered a brat with brisket and Mac and cheese topping. I counted 5 noodles and maybe a pinch of brisket on top. For an extra $2.50 this was unacceptable. My husband ordered fish tacos, and said the fish had a weird taste and the tortillas were stale again. We mostly picked on the fried pickles we ordered and our sides of fries. The bartender was a friendly girl, we never went without drinks. But $50 for bad food isn't worth it anymore. Went to see the Fabulous Fab 5 on 2/16/19 at Stuttgarden. Great show and the courtyard was a perfect place for the event. I've only eaten once here and had the fried cheese sticks and wings and I have no complaints with the food. I do not however recommend the Margaritas. Worst margarita I've ever had. The waitress even took the first one back and brought another but it was just as bad. My friend also couldn't drink his. I guess that's what I get for ordering a marg at a beer garden! read more

Why did the bouncer who wasn't even at the restaurant, run from inside the other building (not the restaurant) realizing he wasn't doing his job, just to say we could not go in because he did not feel like actually doing his job and checking ID's. Do not recommend this establishment to anyone. No service, no friendliness and needs to be reported to the BBB/ needs to lose their liquor license for letting people in without checking ID's who were clearly underage. Corrupt establishment. Manager has no intention to listen to customer complaints. Sure would be nice if anyone at this establishment did their job. Additionally, they have a phone number for this establishment but no calls go through. Appears to be, they get so many complaints that they deactivated their phone line so they don't have to deal with the complaints customers have. read more

My hubs and I usually come to this place once a week (on Wednesday trivia night) and we rarely ever have any issues. Today (Tuesday) we decided to go out and celebrate a successful first day of classes. Our usual table we sit at in the bar area was taken so we sat in a different area, no problem... Except that we waited 30 mins for someone to acknowledge us before just getting up to leave. If you come here, make sure you sit in the bar area, or you're not going to get any service. A party of 6 sat next to us and even they left after realizing we hadn't been acknowledged. We saw two of the workers (male and female) who were tending the other tables, would look at us, and then continue to not acknowledge us. My husband and I were the only ones in the restaurant on a Monday afternoon in January. We ordered fried cheese sticks, the chicken fried steak daily special, and regular Mac n cheese. Fried cheese sticks - were tasty but only came with ranch dressing. We like ours with marinara sauce but the waiter said they do not have marinara sauce because the cheese sticks aren't mozzarella cheese. Hmmm....but they still would have tasted better with marinara sauce. Lol Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and mixed veggies - my husband ordered it and didn't like it st all because it had a spicy taste to it. Both the steak and gravy in the potatoes. I tasted it (actually ate the leftovers the following day) and thought it was yummy. Just wasn't southern style cfs like we're used to in Texas. (Duh...German restaurant) Regular Mac n cheese - was my order. It was very cheesy and had lots of bacon in it. Would have been better as a side order. I enjoyed it but it was almost too cheesy. We attended a going away party for a friend. Atmosphere is very laid back, various games laid out, etc. We parked on the opposite end of the bar, had a crazy time getting out. The mall itself its located in is half empty, and blocked off. There is a movie theater in tge mall area. Food was good, was not a fan of the fried pickles at all. I consider myself an unofficial fried pickle aficionado. The pickles were sweet, not your typical dill also wasn't a fan of the batter. I had the grilled chicken, chicken was very tasty. Mashed potatoes were delicious, and veggies were your typical veggie medley. They were okay. My son enjoyed the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. My fiance had the Philly cheese steak, he said it was good. Fries were tasty, not great but good. Now for the service; Initially it took awhile to get a menu, we had to get one from the bar. The waitress seemed overwhelmed at first, but as the meal progressed she was awesome and drinks, etc. came out timely. . All in all, I would say for bar food, it is pretty good. Stuttgarden had been open for a while now and I never had the opportunity to go. Today I did have the chance; it was well worth it. I went with three friends. We took the table with Connect4 of course. Our waitress, Samantha was friendly, and she was pretty nice overall. My friend ordered fried pickles for appetizer. The breading was solid and they use the good quality pickles. It paired well with ranch; however, the mustard was a bit overwhelming. Most of us couldn't handle it. Then we got our food. Two of my friends ordered the bratwurst on a bun, one spicy and the other cheese filled. Both were delicious according to them. The fries were also nice and crispy, but the chips were a bit burnt - still edible. Another friend ordered the Philly bratwurst. Stuttgarden definitely filled that one up. The whole thing was covered in cheese and it became a knife and fork situation. My friend definitely loved it. Then I got the Mac and cheese. It had a good taste and plenty of bacon. My only complaint was not enough. Overall, the bratwurst and Mac and cheese were delicious and certainly worth ordering. The mustard was a bit too spicy and the chips were a bit burnt. We first started eating here about 2 years ago when we're moved to the area. It was great! We came in once a week and always sat at the bar. Slowly the food quality started to slip. The service remained good. But we slowed to once a month. You never knew what you were going to get. Finally after a series of bad visits we stopped going. It's been 6 months since our last visit but tonight we're decided let's give it a go. We have no complaints about the food tonight. But the bartender, Kevin, was so preoccupied by his cell phone it was crazy. You can tell by our other reviews we usually find the best to review on. After the first beer we waited 12 minutes to get the next round. Finally waving our arms to get his attention. It never got any better. He forgot our drinks twice and we had to ask the younger female bartender to get them. If it hadn't been for her I would have left 1 star. Is it that hard to be attentive?
