We were in the area and decided to stop by this location and I'm glad that I did. I The service was amazing. Kristen was such a great help and so very friendly. She made me feel very welcome and I enjoyed and loved my experience with her. She constantly checked on me and offered pieces I didn't think I would like. She really exemplified awesome customer service. She and the other gal working were very nice. I was very happy with my experience and also that I was able to find items that I liked and fit well. I was excitedn to find a few things to purchase. They do have a good selection of merchandise as well. Some items are a little pricey but I found that they are worth the quality. Really bummed with the customer service today. I came in no greeting. Someone was being helped and left shortly after. I walked around and was the only person in the store when I made my selection. I had two items in my hand and wanted to try it on, I waited near the register and someone else came in wanting to pick up an online order. She was asked if she wanted to try on, and then ignored me as I stood by the register. The was a cashier just staring at the computer and didn't look up at me once and another in the back room that gave me a smirk as she closed the door. I came here and purchased 8 products for almost $700. I was pretty shocked at the price but their store policy is just like Lexbreezy no refunds only exchanges or store credit within 2 weeks. When I went to exchange my daughters top at Lexbreezy within 14 days they said I needed the actual receipt not the gift receipt which makes no sense. It was a gift why would I have the actual receipt and you can see on the receipt it has the date it was purchased (within 14 days). But I gave 3 stars because all of the dresses I bought for my daughters were too big it was falling of their shoulders. Even the baby romper was falling off my daughter's shoulders we had to pin it back. If I'm paying for $70+ for a dress/romper I expect it to fit very well. For other clothing brands they fit well but not these local clothing companies it's weird. I honestly wouldn't shop here again I just needed a dress last minute for my daughter. Oh and another thing when you're shopping around there's someone following you around the store I guess to make sure you don't steal then they are persistent in trying to sell you other products you weren't looking at just because "it matches" but it really didn't match the colors and print we're different. Keana at the Kailua location has the most outstanding customer service ever! I've been contacting 3 different FE locations for a specific dress that's been sold out everywhere in my size. I was put on a waitlist, but thought it'd never come back in. Today, I went down to the Kailua store for another piece from another drop. After paying, I decided to ask her if she could check to see if any locations had the sold out item I wanted since she's so friendly. She said another location had it, and immediately offered to call the store so that I could purchase it via phone and have it transferred to a location closer to me. When the other store wasn't picking up after a couple of attempts, she offered to keep calling the store and contact me once she could get a hold of them. She was respectful of my time. Since I did not want to cause any hassle, I said I would drive to that location. Then she offered that I could call the other location, pay over the phone, and ask them to transfer the dress to a location closer to me. I later called the other location and told them what Keana suggested I do, and they happily helped me purchase the item I've been searching for! Excellent customer service by Taylor today!! I was hesitant to come here today because we had just come from the beach - still salty and sandy from a day on the water and I didn't want to trek sand all over the place. The ladies working were welcoming and all smiles. It's not often my daughters shop together anymore (since one of them lives off island) so we seized the opportunity to shop despite our appearances. Taylor accommodated all of us by starting three separate dressing rooms and never fussed or outwardly rolled her eyes at us with all the various changes and exchanges (if she did, I never saw or felt it). She told us about their frequent shoppers "card" rewards (buy up to a certain dollar amount and you get a percentage off with your next purchase) - no cards given just your info (name, email, addy, bday, phone number). Love that many of the items here are from local designers and vendors. I like keeping it local and helping to grow Hawaii's economy. They have a small selection of children's (girls) clothing to match the "mommy" outfits. This is a small, cute beachy boutique tucked away in the Whole Foods strip by Paul Browns in Kailua town. It has cute bathing suits. Resort wear, beachy totes and jewelry. I like that's it's not so cluttered with pineapples and turtles like other stores. Unfortunately, unless you are a size 0-6 and just won the lottery, you may just want to look around. It is terribly pricey, and catered to skinny people. I prefer the service at the town location over Kailua. Kailua staff sometimes may not acknowledge your there, snd it's not a very big store. I would give it a 4 for its merchandise but 3 for service. I would still shop for a gift for my skinny friends off the sale rack lol! read more

This is a cute boutique but only shop here if you're size XS-M because even the large size runs small. I found some tank tops I wanted to try on but I was still wet from the beach so decided to purchase them and try on at home. The sales associate, Kristen, said that the "return policy" was 14 days. She also mentioned that sale items were final sale. What she FAILED to mention is that there are no real returns, only store credit or exchange. Then when we went to return the items today, she was quiet and didn't say a thing. Shameful. They've lost a customer. How can you shop somewhere when you can't even trust the sales associates? The manager said it's on the fine print on the receipt... but at that point it's too late because the card has already been swiped and they have your money! Don't recommend. One of my biggest pet peeves is when I'm browsing a store & the employees don't acknowledge my presence; it's not that I'm high-maintenance, I just want a friendly, "Hello" so I know, you're interested in having me as a potential customer. Originally, I wasn't planning to stop by Fighting Eel (because I didn't know it was right next to Whole Foods Market Kailua) but since I'm rarely on the East side, I thought, "When in Rome..." & decided a quick visit wouldn't hurt my wallet. When I walked through their doors, I was immediately greeted by a smiling employee (brownie points:) & as I leisurely examined their clothing, jewerly & accessories I realized no one was pressuring me to purchase anything (major brownie points!). My casual encounter with Fighting Eel, slowly turned into an infatuation with the gorgeous & locally made jewelry, which caused me to flirt with the gorgeous line of stationary within the store & eventually led me to pulling out my wallet & purchasing items I'm in love with. I bought a two more items, but I don't want to spoil the surprise, because one is a future gift for my older sister. If you're in the mood for shopping or looking to purchase a little something for a friend (or yourself), I highly recommend a trip to Fighting Eel Kailua. They have most of the same items that all the FE stores carry. The staff are friendly and greet you immediately with a genuine smile and desire to assist. This is one of those boutiques in Kailua that I feel takes advantage of the tourist with it's prices, and I don't want to like, but I secretly do. The clothes selection isn't vast, but that makes browsing and selecting a lot easier. Occasionally they have Mommy and Daughter matching outfits, and that's pretty adorable. It's mostly upscale resort wear, think loose maxis, palazzo pants, baggy v-necks, shorts, and swimsuits. It's all really cute though. The price tags vary from $50 - $200, but there is a sales section they hide over in the back by the dressing rooms that have phenomenal mark downs. I've managed to buy two dresses there that only set me back $50ish each, down from $195. SCORE! The bags I see are SUPER cute, but I've never bought one. I have had a lot of luck in coming in here to find a gift for someone on more than one occasion. There is also a great, simple, jewelry selection that, honestly, if you scoured the internet you could find most of the stuff for 75% cheaper (ETSY) but if you are an impulse buyer, then you'll leave with a cute new piece of bling. The employees are hit or miss, but seem to have a high turn over rate. I've NEVER seen the same girl in there twice. Maybe they just have a really large staff and each employee works 1 day a week, hell if I know. Anyways, they can range from friendly and helpful to annoyed by your existence. You know, like most retail places. I'm mostly impressed with the sale rack and the ability to run in here and buy a last minuet bday gift for a gal pal that she won't hate. Kinda reminded me of the old "Units" store - same style of tops and bottoms just in different patterns. One of the sales associates was really nice and the other was a pretentious little snot! Reminded me of that scene in Pretty Woman when she walked into that store on Rodeo Drive..... I was actually surprised that the star rating on this place was so high, but maybe I just went in on an off day. If you are a female and you have IG and haven't heard about Fighting Eel, you must be living under a rock. No, no, not living ON a rock - we all live on this fabulous rock. No, but seriously, I had heard about FE and, in fact, followed them on IG. But, I didn't really KNOW much about FE. I never thought of myself as a fashionista per se nor did I think I could afford such stylish clothes. On a couple of occasions, I went with my BFF who kept naming off the different styles of tops and I literally asked her, "What language are you speaking?" Well, friends, I've learned there is a Fighting Eel language and I was clueless! So, I'm a little late to the FE party (I must admit), but, in the words of Bob, everything is gonna be alright. You know why? Because I have my girl, Sara in Kailua, to walk me through the FE way of life. Ha ha. It's true, I'm in FE training because Sara guides me through the different styles: Tank Tempo, Pant Sweat (my fave!), Dress Micah, Pant Latte, Dress Perry, Tank Jess, Top Vivian, Tank Laguna, Top Tongs, etc. They are all super stylish and basically the FE style is taking over all of Hawaii. Everywhere I go, I now spot FE styles all over town - now maybe I can't name the exact item, but I know an FE piece when I see one. FE clothing is well-made and, duh, super cute. It's not cheap, for sure, but you are most def paying for quality. (FE has a ton of sale days to snag up styles that you want for cheaper but you've got to really be lucky and early because their sale days are cray-cray.) There's also a point system where you can accumulate points for a discount and double points days are also crazy days at all FE stores. It's true, FE is all the rage right now - their IG proves it. (They don't even need to pay for any advertising or marketing, social media rules the FE world.) Females in Hawaii (and beyond, I'm sure) are all about FE. Males, maybe not. My brother calls FE "Fighting Ewwww" probably because he loses his wife for a good couple of hours when they are visiting us on the Windward side. I know he's totally joking, but the addiction to FE is REAL. Thank goodness for my girl, Sara, for being super sweet and helpful all the time. Her customer service is on par. She even sent me a sweet letter after my shopping visit and every time I see her she is always so genuine. Thank goodness for Sara and for being my "trainer" on the FE lifestyle. 2.11.13 So yes, I am still swooning over my lovely adventures this past weekend in Kailua town...the real reason I actually went over to that side of the island was to visit this wonderful boutique. First off...Happy Anni FE Kailua! Yup, they had a sale and everything this past weekend...and I walked out with nothing :( I have had my eye on the Adele dress for a while now...but I just couldn't bring myself to dole out that much $$ (yet). Aside from offering 10% off in-store, there were some awesome trunk shows (Misha Hawaii, Indiocean) and plenty of giveaways! A friend and I are becoming superfans of Misha, so we try to make it to her trunk shows when she has them! ...and this one just so happened to be at FE! The staff here was also super friendly, and the clothes selection was great. The store kind of just glows. It's located on Kailua Road in one of the newer parts of the shopping area along this street. Eek. Love Fight Eel! Love this new location in Kailua right off the main road next to Longs Drugs in its new complex. Still in development, they currently have no neighbors. Parking can be found in the lot in back of the building. If you have been to their downtown boutique, this one carries the same items with the same ambiance and decor. I've been a Fighting Eel fan since 2005. I first heard about Fighting Eel from one of my co-workers. She took me to one of their sample sales at their first location in downtown. I still have my clothes from FE that I bought in 2005. Although the clothing is expensive, it lasts for many years & for me, it is worth the investment. Not only are the clothes durable, they are very basic. You can make a dress casual with slippers or dress it up with a belt and heels. Your choice on how you want it to look. These basics are a must in every girls closet. Not only do they have clothing for women, but they also have a clothing line for little girls. I can't wait to have a little munchkin to dress up in FE clothing. =) I love the downtown location, but I'm really happy that they opened up the Kailua location-parking is plentiful & the location of this store is convenient. I live in town, for me, it is always nice to drive into Kailua to go to the beach, have lunch, and do a little shopping at one of my favorite stores. I LOVE Fighting Eel! The first time I heard of this brand, was when Nordstrom Ala Moana carried it in the dresses department. Unfortunately, the demand for Fighting Eel was too high, and Nordstroms stopped carrying them... So, I ventured out to Kailua on a mission to find more Fighting Eel pieces. There's a free parking lot for FE and other merchants nearby! So that's always a plus. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by both sales associates. I was shopping with my boyfriend and as soon as I gave him a dress to hold that I wanted to try on, the sales associate grabbed it to start me a fitting room. They were super attentive and helpful throughout the whole process, and I must've tried on 10 things. My boyfriend was never holding more than two things, before they put them in the fitting room. When it was time for me to try on, the sales associate grabbed the stool from the fitting room, so my boyfriend could sit down while I was trying my items on! A+ for that ladies!!! I ended up buying 5/10 items I tried on, three tops and two dresses. Most of my items were on sale. I spent $310.99 (incl. tax) for my 5 items. Not too bad!! By these two girls remember me every time I come in, which is a lot, but are so accommodating every time I come in. Really, I have the same review for Kailua as I did Kahala. I am a huge fan of Fighting Eel, so I love that there's one in Kailua now, since its close to home. The selection is pretty standard, and they have all the newest styles. The only thing that it doesn't have is a sale rack, at least not that I saw. The sale items are scattered, which is kind of annoying, but it's okay. I do miss the days of the Fighting Eel Warehouse on Hotel St. when there were amazing sale bins and special one of a kind pieces. I thought that was extremely cool. Gone are those days, so now, Fighting Eel is just a standard retail store, which is still fine. Of course it is expensive, so come here only if you've just gotten your pay check (or tax return!! YAY). Fair Warning: Not all fabrics are created equal. Some of the fabric that they use are either thin or way too soft, which leads to snags and pilling. Pilling is THE WORST (when your clothes get those little balls or knobbies on it after you've washed it). However, some of the fabric is thicker and doesn't do this, so I try to stay away from the thin ones. Although, sometimes it can't be helped because the prints are sometimes cuter. Yes, I am a guy. Yes, I know they don't have guy stuff. So why would I be writing a review for a woman's fashion boutique? I come here often enough (with my gf, not by myself.. that'd be weird) and can say that the staff (at both locations as well) are always helpful and friendly. At this particular storefront, Rebecca has always been there to greet me and my gf, which she self-named the "Thursday Couple," being that most of our visits just so happen to fall on Thursdays. I was actually surprised that by the 2nd, which was not in time-succession, she remembered who we were. They have quite the assortment of clothes and accessories. I have to say, I don't know fashion, but I know what I like to see my gf wear and luckily, she loves shopping here. Just picked up a crossover bag for my gf recently. She loves it and picked up a matching clutch and different color crossover to boot. This store definitely deserves a visit from those on the other side of the island. Chinatown is closer to those on the other side but I just hate parking there! And for someone from the Leeward side, such as myself, the time spent going to each location is practically identical, with this location usually having less traffic and FREE parking. I came to Hawaii on holiday and stayed with a friend who raved about this store. She showed me a couple pieces she owned and recommended that I check it out. At first I was a bit hesitant when she told me how much she paid for a plain shirt and skirt but once I got into the store I understood where her excitement was coming from! Although the clothes may appear to be simple, the quality of the fabric is AMAZING. It feels luxurious yet durable. The cut and the tailoring of the clothing is fabulous and flattering. Sometimes, all you need is a simple quality piece and these are what they call "investment pieces". Too many times have I walked into a store like Forever 21 wanting a just a simple shirt or dress and the cut is off or I turn it around and there is a random embellishment or graphic on the side.
