After visiting the Punahou and Kailua store throughout the year, I finally found two tops that I immediately fell in love with. The staff were friendly and helpful and the store was clean. Seemed like they had several sizes available in all their merchandise which is great. Their dressing rooms are spaced nicely and they have several. Manuheali'i has for a long time been the go to location for myself and my colleagues, in fact, our coaching staff went with matching Manuhealii prints for almost a decade. For me, the two main reasons to buy Manuheali'i. First, their clothes is often made with a thinner material which is both comfortable and practical, especially during the summer. Business attire or dining out looks better when you're not sweating in your thick cotton aloha shirt. Second, their prices used to be just a tad lower than a lot of the other high end Hawaiian fashion designers. But that seems to be changing. It's going to be more difficult for Hawaiians to wear Hawaiian wear if the prices continue to increase but if you're looking for something professional, fancy, and comfortable, this is probably one of the best brands to go with. read more

I walked in with the intent to buy a blouse. There were 2 gals at the counter. No acknowledgement or anything. I looked through the racks and I'm a newbie to this brand and didn't know that clothes sell out fast. There was nothing in my size. I really don't know if I'll make the drive there again. Guess I was lucky when I went there last year and found a blouse. It felt kinda cliquish in there, as they were joking around with another customer who was trying on clothes. Manuhealii has completely lost its way, and my recent experience only proves how far this company has fallen. What used to be a brand known for its quality, aloha spirit, and beautiful designs has become a business that prioritizes profit over people, with subpar products and downright rude customer service. I recently purchased a matching set for my three children for a family funeral and needed sizes for myself and my husband. I made it very clear that I needed the clothing urgently, as the funeral was Saturday morning, and I was told the remaining items would be ready for pickup on Friday. I received a voicemail at 3:15 PM that day letting me know the order was ready. I live 1.5 hours away, so I called to let them know I'd be cutting it close to their 5 PM closing time. Instead of understanding or offering any flexibility, the employee on the phone laughed and said, "We close firmly at 5--drive safe!" I rushed the entire way and arrived at the store at 5:02 PM, only to find the door locked. The elderly employee was standing right there, shaking her head at me while I stood outside in tears, begging her to let me in. I explained that my grandmother's funeral was the next morning at 9 AM and that I just needed to pick up the clothing I had already paid for. Her response? "No, no, no." No empathy, no aloha, just a cold refusal. This was not just bad service--it was outright disrespectful during an incredibly emotional time. To make matters worse, the quality of their clothing has declined significantly. What used to be made with breathable rayon and cotton is now cheap, itchy polyester--plastic, overpriced garbage marketed as premium aloha wear. It's bad enough that the clothing is uncomfortable, but it's also completely unsustainable. Manuhealii is contributing more plastic to landfills and more microplastics to our bodies. This company seems completely behind the times when it comes to using ethical, healthy materials, and they've abandoned any sense of the aloha spirit they once had. Instead, their employees, especially the older woman I dealt with, act cocky and condescending, as if working behind the Manuhealii register makes them better than the very customers who made this brand what it is. I'll never shop here again. Instead, I'll be supporting brands that still care about quality, sustainability, and customer respect, like Fighting Eel, Yireh, Eternal Summer Hawaii, Sig Zane, and Kahulalea. This place is so cute. It's like a little cottage filled with Hawaiian goodness in the middle of Kailua. Ample parking, I've never seen it packed. The store itself is quaint and I guess I've always gone at the right time as it was like I had the whole store to myself. I prefer this store compared to the town one mainly because the customer service here is amazing. As soon as I walked into the store the 2 lovely store associates greeted me and asked if I was just browsing or was looking for something in particular. I showed her a picture of what I was looking for and told her what size and she literally went around the store and got what I was looking for. There were some items not available but she offered to call the town store to see if they happen to have it. On top of that, she gift wrapped all my items for free, it's the little gestures for me. Got yelled at by the sales lady for using their handicap parking spot, even if I had my disability parking placard. Large parking lot was mostly EMPTY, had 1-2 cars parked. There was about 15 open spots. There was NO visible signs as you drive in that it was private parking or warnings. I still was planning to buy something cheap from them after lunch next door. This girls frantically runs out of the shop as if there was a major accident. Yells that I can not use their parking. Lotta other ways to say it but she choose to have so much anger. Place visible signs-it's pretty easy or simply walk out and tell me to move. Have some Aloha. Especially for the locals. This is such a cute little shop for Hawaiian-designed clothing. The sales staff are super nice and welcoming. Right when I picked up a dress, one of the staff offered to put it into a fitting room for me. They also gift wrapped my items perfectly for a friend. Love their aloha wear! If you're looking for unique tops, dresses, muumuus, and mens wear this is a great place to shop. To get a good selection it's best to go when they introduce a new pattern. The fabric prints are their own and limited so if you can follow them on Instagram you can see when they are released. Once they run out of an item and pattern it's gone. The sizing seems to be off so if you don't find anything in your size try the other sizes. Customer service is great. They try to help with styles and sizes, and will call their other shop in town to check on availability of items. A plus for shopping here is that this shop must be the only place in Kailua that has a lot of parking. read more

Found the Kailua location; it has moved around in the past several years but seems to have found a permanent location across from Kalapawai Market in Kailua Town. Lots of parking in their private lot off the street after the Shell station at the corner of Oneawa and Kuulei Road. They are on Hoolai Street. Often have wonderful, original prints and great colors, but when I shop there, they are inevitably low on sizes and often getting ready to unveil a new design. Wish they had more sizes and styles available for those of us that work in town and can't be there for their launch of new designs! Or it would be nice if we could place orders for new designs so that we have a chance of getting correct sizing. BTW, you have to try different styles on because they aren't consistent in size; they might run large or small depending on the style. Best to try a style on to be sure it fits and looks good on you! read more

I was able to find a color & design I loved and styles to fit my two daughters, husband, & I for a matching ohana set. They checked to make sure I had all that I wanted or if there were styles they could find at their town store for me. The check out was seemless & pleasant. Overall an great experience. Manuhealii is a small local store located in Kailua town across the street from Kailua Pub. There is a large parking lot surrounding the little house. I call it a house because the store really looks like a house! When we walked in, we were immediately greeted! The store atmosphere is very warm & comfy! There are home accessories, dressing rooms, and some clothing downstairs. Go up a few steps, and a majority of the clothes are there. I was there to check out the new prints. I grabbed a top and a dress and headed to the dressing rooms. Hubby sat in a chair that was near the door as he waited for me to pick out what I was going to buy. I tried on the dress, but apparently I had lost more weight than I thought (or the dress was made bigger than usual). Emma had come by right when I was about to take it off & leave to look for a smaller size. She offered to grab one size down. YAY! Thank you for letting me stay in the comfort of the dressing room. She was back in a few secs. Guess what? It was still too big. OMG. It's like Emma just KNEW I was going to ask for another size. She was there for the smaller one! That one fit perfectly! Next on to the shirt. Basically, same situation. Too big, needed another size. This time it was the OTHER Emma who was ready to grab another size. Needless to say, these 2 ladies made my afternoon. I bought a dress with stretchy ruffles and it has pockets, but the pockets is way too small for a Womens clothing. It did not feel right cuz my hands could hardly get in. Not comfortable to put my whole hands inside. And that is why I put 3 stars . Great summer colors! For the Future, plz make bigger pockets & bigger dresses where we Womens, don't have to crawl trying on clothes. Most of the clothes for Women size runs very small for Hawaii people. Wanted a couple of different style dresses in a couple of different sizes and she wasn't willing to get them for me, even though I was the only person in the store. They are not as good as they used to be. Loved the old days when they produced classic Hawaiian prints. Some of the prints now dont even look Hawaiian & the fabric they use is terrible. Too stiff for some of the styles. They also run out of sizes too quickly. Their styles are definitely not true to size. read more

Arrived 5 minutes before closing at 3:55pm on Saturday and knew exactly what I needed. Granted it was close to closing. As I arrived in the parking lot and closed my car door an employee immediately locked the door knowing that I had just driven in. Now, that is extremely unacceptable for any business. I was still on premises 5 Minute before closing and did not do that on purpose. The employees reluctantly opened the door and gave me a rude look and then asked me you know what you specifically need and I told them. By that point I was already upset and just walked out. This was my first experience at this shop and I am disappointed that this even took place. I really enjoyed the designs and quality of the products as I have many friends of mines who talked so highly of it. I don't think this is acceptable and the employees need to better handle a future situation such as this. It's a very disappointing first experience. I rarely post any negative posts. Oh well. I gave 2 stars for the many prints in keiki dresses, they had a lot more than I anticipated. However, their customer service and overall vibe of the store was very stuck up, and unwelcoming. I can't remember the last time I bought aloha wear for myself. We're talking 1990s, Liberty House. Possibly Zooper Sale. Needless to say, I was in need of a wardrobe update. With a family picture coming up, I had both a genuine reason to do so along with a spousal understanding that coordinating outfits were on the table. Manuheali'i, here we come! The Kailua location is very cute (that yellow trim!), if a bit impractical. It's basically a cottage-turned-boutique. If you have a wheelchair or stroller, it'll be a tight fit, and for some inaccessible, as most of the clothing is up a short flight of stairs. But you can always ask the staff for help -- and ask you must. I found the customer service to be, well, not unfriendly exactly, but not welcoming either. My general feeling was that I was walking into someone's auntie's house, uninvited, and not particularly wanted. We received (abrupt yet effectual) assistance upon request and it was great that you can have items transferred from the Mo'ili'ili location (and vice versa). Still. For the price point that they're asking, I would hope for a warmer reception. Normally, I would shop online, but the sizing seems to vary from collection to collection, so in-store seems the way to go. At least they have their own parking lot and a wide selection of sizes in every style. I won't be drinking the designer Kool Aid any time soon though since aloha wear just isn't my jam (I am firmly a solid color kind of gal), but I can see how they have a devoted following with their beautiful prints. There were 2 women behind the register who pretty much stayed there. I walked around commenting on the merchandise and they responded with grunts. Love this place but only gripe is the sizes run out really fast especially on the popular prints and majority of the time will not make that print again. I've NEVER had any issues with the customer service here and I shop here almost every week. If you don't see your size or print you like - ask them to call the Punahou store. They will get it delivered to Kailua store next day in which you can pick up. They also have a rewards card! read more
