m really disappointed with my experience at Aloha General Store. I went in to buy three magnets, and my total came out to $32. One magnet was clearly priced at $5, which seemed reasonable. The other two had no price tags, so I assumed they would be similar in price. When I was paying, the cashier was distracted and on the phone, so I wasn't clearly told my total. It wasn't until after the transaction that I realized I had been charged $32, which really caught me off guard. After that, I went back to ask for a refund, but they refused and said they only do exchanges, which is not what I wanted. I also had to speak with three different employees, and they all gave me the same answer without offering any real help. On top of that, I was charged an extra fee for using my debit card, even though there is a sign posted saying they do NOT charge extra for card payments. That felt very misleading. I feel like prices should be clearly marked, totals should be communicated clearly, and customers should be treated fairly. Please be careful when shopping here. You're better off going down the road to Aoki's North Shore Trading.
Such a fun little store in Haleiwa! If you are looking for those tacky tourists gifts, some snacks, Christmas ornaments in the middle of April, maybe a shave ice- this is your place! It is all so very random but that is what makes if fun to walk through the place. Very small place with everything packed in. Not a place for baby strollers - FYI. They have everything from sun hats for babies, snorkels, Hawaiian Christmas ornaments, coffee cups, coffee, snacks, posters, kids toys etc. A little bit of everything really. We decided to try their shave ice, staff was quick and efficient and it was exactly what was needed on a warm day!
Wonderful little souvenir shop but it is pricey! Ample parking Shaved ice is good here :) but bring cash.
Ok so I came here today to get my shave ice fix and I was a bit annoyed! Employee was very. Ice, friendly and welcoming however.... Maybe my shave ice want packed good orrrrrr idk but looking at my old pix of the same vs todays pix - it was not the same! Today was like any other hot day in hawaii, but NO JOKE - I took this pic as soon as she gave it to me, then I went to the car tht was parked under the shade with my family waiting and as soon as I got to paalaa Kai bakery - it was melted. Not even 5 min - it was completely liquid with the ice cream still in tact. I legit wasted my money on 5 bites of shaved ice and basically just ate wet ice cream.
Aloha General Store is located in the heart of Haleiwa Town. I wanted Hubby to try the Pineapple whipped ice cream made by Dave's. Dave's is a local brand here in Hawaii. It was Hubby's 1st time here, we're Local. We Love sending things back to family to celebrate happenings in their lives. He walked around the General Store finding specialty gifts for Family and Friends. This is a tourist store but locals can find cool things here too. I found a really cool & colorful bag for snacks on my flight. $25. Check the product tho. Zipper sticks . Finally, I got my ice cream. John ordered a scoop of macadamia nut & a scoop of chocolate in a waffle cone. He was tearing into it before I could get a picture. I'm sure we'll stop here for a Dave's Ice Cream filler soon.
Been coming here for over 7 years. Anytime I come to Hawaii to visit or for work, I always make a trip to North Shore to get some shaved ice from the Aloha General Store. HOWEVER, it's bee 7 years!!! And they still only take cash! Why? Why not accept credit cards, Apple Pay, PayPal, etc? Add $1 to your prices and get with it! Can't see any other reason they don't accept cash than the small fee which is under $1. Nothing is more frustrating than driving 55min to get a some shaved ice, they only take cash so you go to the only ATM in the store and it's down. So now you have to walk around to different locations to get cash just to come back for some shaved ice.
This was my first foray into shave ice on the island. I had been waiting to pop my shave ice cherry for Matsumoto but I already happened to be here and the kama'aina (the locals) who happened to be at the shop told us that this place was their favorite place to get shave ice. And boy am I glad that I trusted their suggestion. I got one with vanilla ice cream with the Blue Hawaiian, mango, and Li Hing Mui flavors and it was absolutely perfect. It was the perfect way to enter into the shave ice world. If all you have is a credit card, you can actually pay at the register at the center of the store and then you can proceed to the shave ice counter to order your treat. All-around the best shave ice I've had in my whole visit to Oahu. (I had about half a dozen. Yes, this place started an obsession.)

I really like the shaved ice here. Whenever I come up to Hale'iwa I always come here to get my shaved ice. They sell a lot of souvenirs here as well, don't know if I can call it a tourist trap but they do have a lot of touristy stuff. The prices I guess are ok. The employees are always nice and they have a pretty good sized parking lot but it does get pretty full on the weekends. Can't wait for my next trip!
Shave ice is really good! But it's cash only. I wasn't in love with my pineapple bowl and would have preferred a plain shave ice instead. I also was disappointed that they use plastics for the shave I've bowl and spoons. We need to move towards better options that can be composed.

Great service. The guy behind the counter genuinely cared about how each shaved ice order came out. I get why they're known as having the BEST shaved ice because or truly just melts away in your mouth. I've eaten dozens of shaved ice in Oahu but this had to be the best. You have a wide variety of syrups, i opted to add vanilla ice cream, making it even better. As walking around the general store, the guy behind the counter noticed that we didn't have condensed milk drizzled on top and made the effort to find us and add some. Super cool to do that even after we left and had ate half of it already. Wasn't busy when i got here on a Saturday afternoon. This place is cash only!!!
Aloha General Store deserves a lot more attention for its shave ice. While many visitors head to the famous spots in Haleʻiwa, this little gem quietly serves one of my favorite shave ice on the North Shore. For just $5, the small size is actually pretty generous. Even better, it comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream hidden at the bottom, making it an incredible value. I chose Melona, strawberry, and coconut, and all three flavors were vibrant, refreshing, and not overly sweet. The shave ice itself was soft, fluffy, and melted perfectly in your mouth. The store also sells souvenirs and gifts, but I came strictly for the shave ice, and I'd happily come back just for that. It's refreshing, affordable, and surprisingly underrated. If you're in Haleʻiwa and looking for a delicious shave ice without the long lines, don't overlook Aloha General Store. If you're in Oahu and craving shaved ice but don't want to elbow your way through the massive crowds at the "big name" spots--this hidden gem in Haleiwa is the move. We ordered the classic shaved ice and the pineapple bowl (basically shaved ice + ice cream). Let me just say... the pineapple bowl is a life-changer. Perfect tropical vibes, the sweetness of the fruit with the creaminess of the ice cream, all topped with fluffy shaved ice--it's basically vacation in a bowl. We couldn't even wait to dive in before snapping this photo! The store itself surprised me too: for such a small space, they have a really wide selection of souvenirs, from fun little knick-knacks to gifts that actually feel worth bringing back home. We grabbed a few kitchen towels and local perfumes for family to bring back with us. Ambiance-wise, super chill and welcoming. There was only one guy working when we went, so the shaved ice took a bit of time since there were others ahead of us--but honestly, we were enjoying the laid-back island pace and didn't mind at all. Way better than standing in a long line under the sun! Best part? Location is super convenient, right off the main road in Haleiwa. We came in to browse for souvenirs (tiki mugs, wooden signs, etc.) & ended up getting shave ice, as well. We ordered Keiki sizes (I love that that's an option), all with vanilla ice cream in the middle & all with a condensed milk drizzle aka "ice cap" topping. I chose cherry, li hing mui, & lilikoi syrups (basically, my go-to flavors.) The only thing missing was mochi, which I believe they used to have. Hopefully they bring it back because I know I'm not alone is saying mochi pieces are my favorite topping. Nice, friendly owner. No long lines like the popular shave ice places nearby. There are a couple tables set up outside. Good stuff. read more
My friend raved about this shaved ice place. We stopped here after a hike. Ordered the Keiki Shaved ice with pineapple, mango, and passion fruit flavor ($2-3). The syrup wasn't overly sweet. It was good. Our tourist items in the shop. Seemed kind of overpriced. read more

We really wanted to try the shaved ice because it was recommended this was the best shaved on the island. We tried it and did not disappoint! We actually had to get it twice it was so good! Did not wanted to wait in the crazy Matsumoto line, so we drove over to this plaza and grabbed ourselves a delicious treat. Watermelon, coconut and pineapple with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the bottom totally hits the spot on a hot Hawaiian day. Cute souvenir store with some yummy shaved ice. One word: PINEAPPLE ICE CREAM Ok, two words. Super creamy, super rich, super fresh, not too sweet, no chemical flavors, just sweet cream, cane sugar and fresh, juicy, fragrant pineapple!! 1 scoop - $4.00 2 scoops - $5.00 3 scoops - $6.00 Get three scoops! You can also try their specialty, the Pineapple Bowl - I will next time. I've been here twice already this month drooling after the Pineapple Ice Cream. I've heard the Coconut Macadamia Nut is good too. The merchandise is super cute and although some people complain about it being "touristy" and expensive, uh...hello...you are in the North Shore Marketplace....and uh...hello...yours truly is not a tourist and even I want to buy the stuff in here! The prices are yes, more pricey, but some of their merchandise I haven't seen outside of Aloha General Store, like the cute sun bonnets for the kids and tropical slippers that were so nice I wanted to buy some for myself! Yes there are the occasional touristy coconut drinking bowls and the tiki mugs, but you are not here for that!! You are here for the PINEAPPLE ICE CREAM!!!!!!!!!! You're welcome. read more
Came here for simple shaved ice. Got guava, pineapple, and blue raspberry with ice cream and condensed milk. The ice cream was high so good and mixed well with the ice. Would Devonshire definitely go here again, especially if some other places were too crowded. There are two tables outside where you can sit and eat. My cousin got the kona coffee ice cream and said that it was very good. read more

Wow!!! This is the most amazing shave ice I have ever had, so soft and fluffy... The flavors were delicious and not overly sweet, (or chemically sweet tasting) The Pineapple bowl was amazing value with ice cream on the bottom, shave ice, condensed milk, whipped cream and pineapple chunks! It was so good we went back for seconds!!! Everyone working in the general store was so friendly too.. Also there is a small seating area just outside. read more

***Pre/During COVID-19 Visit*** Skip Matsumoto and just come here! It's super good, atmosphere is laid back, but remember it's cash only when paying for shave ice. I always order the rainbow and it always comes out good with one scoop of ice cream. The store is filled with souvenirs and the folks who work there are super friendly. They've got signs, lotions, leis, etc. You can even see some celebrity photos they have as it's quite frequented with folks from the entertainment industry such as Pat Sajak, Tia Carrere, etc. read more

We have been to many places just to try their shave ice. We have found our number one spot which is Baldwins in Aeia. So we always ask "is this better than Baldwins?" When we try a new spot. This place was really good!! Better than others we had tried! The flavor was good and was evenly distributed. I wish i had gotten my own. Now our famous question... "is it better?" One person said yes but then noticed her shave ice was melting so fast, Baldawins for some reason holds up very nicely to the last spoon. So this was a very close one!!! But not our number 1 but still a favorite we would get again. read more

AMAZING ICE!!! A local favorite, don't wait in line for 3 hours for the Walmart version of Hawaiian Shave Ice, get it from the Mom and Pop Shop that has been here since 2002. Walk up, order, watch'em make it and prepare to be Blown Away by the soft, cotton candy sweet, melt in your mouth, goodness. Best I've ever had and I'd come back to Oahu just for this! My girl and I shared the Pineapple bowl and both had plenty. read more

We kept wanting to have shave ice and decided to stop here. Best shave ice ever eaten! We had 3 flavors and ice cream on bottom with a polar cap. They make it right then so your ice is super fluffy. They are also really nice. We shared one and it was plenty but didn't know you could order Keiki size or might have each done that. It's cash only for shave ice so be prepared. The little store is typical souvenirs but it's really cute and just a low key, relaxing and friendly place to shop and hang out in front to enjoy your treat. Skip the big name shops and try this little spot! Oh and so easy to park too- not a tiny paid parking lot. read more

My family and I always stops here to shop and have their shave ice. While everyone is up the road to the other shave ice places, we come here. They have delicious shave ice. Friendly staff, great prices and big shave ice. We also shop in the store. You can always find something to take home with you. There is plenty of parking, bathrooms and lots of other shops to stop by as you're visiting Haleiwa. read more
