I love how customizable everything is here, and it really didn't help with my indecisiveness , but the workers were so patient and helpful when it came to choosing our flavors. I was at first confused as to what the name sweet as could possibly mean or infer. As soon as I walked in that door I quickly realized why the store was named this way. I was graced by the presence of Matthew, the best employee any business could ever ask for. This guy was "Sweet As" can be! Great service, great recommendations, great vibe, great aura, great fit on even, this kid had it all. After I ordered, Matthew managed to stay engaged in a lighthearted conversation, making our group feel welcomed in a new environment. His multitasking skills were impressive as he made our sweet treats and held up a great chat. After our ice creams were made, my life changed as I had never tasted something so wonderful in my entirety of living. I'm fully convinced only Matthew could have made such a delectable treat. I rarely ever leave a review but as I'm astounded by the service I was graced with, I feel it necessary to let the world know. Ice cream is pretty good. Customer service not so much. Visited on 8/9 at around 7pm, the boy and girl who looked like they were barely old enough to work never thanked a single customer. The only time they smiled was when they laughed at a customer who tripped in the doorway. Super unsanitary as well. They take payments and never wash their hands. They will touch your cone, scoop your ice cream and fruits, the girls hair was so long I'm sure it touched the ice cream in the freezer while she was scooping it too. The taste of the ice cream is very refreshing and not so sweet. When entering the shop, there were 2 others ordering ahead and 1 family waiting for their ice cream. There was only 1 worker so it was a bit of a wait, what made it longer is that she took everyone's order before making the ice cream. This left the first family waiting a bit and the myself waiting in the hot sun. The worker was friendly but you can tell she seems overwhelmed with the amount of orders and it being only her there. It is summer and there is more tourist than non peak season, so I hope they would at least have 2 workers at all times. Just beware that there is no cleaning in between orders. So, if the previous person ordered a different flavor than you, you get some of their leftover in your ice cream. Which can affect the flavor you wanted (can be good or bad). I ordered the Keiki size and the Nui in a cone. The keiki was big. Too big for the little bowl that was given. Once I got my ice cream and was walking and eating, it melted so quickly that it was over flowing and melting all over me. This was not fun. My family has been many times and the last few times we have been a little more disappointed with service and quality. This evening we decided we will no longer return. A younger teen boy significantly shorted me on my large size cone in comparison to my husbands..(I thought he ordered me a small, be he said he paid for a large) the flavors were not mixed and the lack of customer service was poor. We had to go back in and ask for a topping they forgot to add.. disappointing to spend 30$ on 2 cones and leave feeling cheated.. I could have requested more on the spot but the attitude the kid gave me for asking if I could add my number in for their point system left a bad taste in my mouth. Boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place by chance (with some help from Yelp) while looking for somewhere to have dessert after eating at Surf N Salsa a few months ago. Now, every time we visit Haleiwa, we make a stop here. It's located next to a little shop and across Surf N Sea. We usually park near the beach and walk over, but you may find parking closer if you're lucky. The few times we've been there, there's little to no wait and the cashiers are always friendly and helpful. The first time we went, we got a two scoop cup and we found it was too much for us, so we've stuck to the keiki size the last two times we visited. There are a bunch of fruit choices to choose from, along with a fruit of the month (I want to say it was blackberries when we went this time) and 4 ice cream choices. There are also pints available to purchase as well. We've gotten a combination of different fruits each time we've gone and everything has been good with the coconut ice cream. We tried the vanilla ice cream as the base this most recent time, but agreed to stick with coconut next time we go. The total price for our keiki cup was $7.17 in November 2022. Overall, definitely check this place out when you're in Haleiwa and looking for a sweet treat. It's a nice alternative to shave ice! read more

I lived in New Zealand for a bit and this place is legit! The best I've had in the US (though not as good as the real thing in NZ). The ice cream is fresh and creamy just like in NZ. The waffle cone is a $1 add-on and it's a MUST! I went twice, first time got the raspberry with vanilla, and then the lilikoi with vanilla. I can't decide what I liked better! Whenever I drive up to the North Shore, I always eat the same exact places. So, on my most recent day trip, I wanted to try some new places; one of them being Sweet As. This is their 2nd location (the other one being in Laie) and it's right next to the famous painted rainbow angel wings. We went on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm and there was no line whatsoever. You choose your base, fruit and size. Choose from mango, pineapple, lilikoi, strawberry, blueberry, mixed berry or raspberry. For ice cream, they have vanilla, coconut, frozen yogurt and dairy free coconut for an extra $1. I chose their regular coconut ice cream with lilikoi. I also got it in a handmade waffle cone for an extra $1 and the nui size which is two scoops of ice cream. The texture of the ice cream is different than your average soft serve. I feel like it's lighter and airier? It's hard to describe, but it's still creamy and delicious. I was a little worried coconut and lilikoi wouldn't be the best combo but it was absolutely amazing! My boyfriend and I agreed it was the highlight of all the places we ate that day. To me, some of the best ice cream I ever had. Waffle cone was delicious as well. Not too thick or thin. Overall, this is going to be my new dessert spot on the North Shore. Matsumotos and Aokis are great, but I really think people are missing out on this hidden gem. read more
