Shaved ice was soooo good! The ladies were also super nice. Will come back again. 10/10

I think this place is worth a shot before/after shark cove but it's a bit of a scam. They have snorkeling equipment rentals at high prices, for example. The area all belongs to this North Shore brand and they have two little shops that are very much surf shop, teenagers-at-the-beach vibes. There's people walking all around and no clear service. The workers were mostly teenagers and not the most helpful, but still nice. They gave us loose directions all over the area to buy coconuts and find someone to cut it open when we were done. The guy who cut our coconut was much more hospitable, making small talk and being much more gracious. The coconut itself was $13 (crazy) and not even great. The water was a little sour and the meat was rubbery since the coconut was so young. I've had better coconuts from the asian market back in California. We also got an açaí bowl, again not worth $11 for the size, but it was delicious. Strong açaí flavor, ice-cream texture, crunchy granola, and with 1/3 banana. It was very sweet but in a good way. I'm not unhappy about the experience, but the prices we paid were too much.

My bf and I loved this shave ice! We went twice while on the north shore. Get the condensed milk and vanilla ice dream, it won't disappoint.

I'm so confused why this is currently at 3.7 stars. This was my fav shave ice on Oahu this trip and I've gone to Matsumoto's and Island Vintage! The ice was the softest of the three and was a generous size (although you're only allowed one size and it's basically a large). We got the Hawaiian style shave ice for $7 which gives you 3 flavor choices and vanilla ice cream at the bottom and added condensed milk for $1. I'd say this is a pretty great deal for the quantity and quality compared to the others we'd been to. For our flavors we chose passionfruit, pineapple, and coconut which we thought was a tasty combo! We'll defs be back especially after snorkeling around North Shore!

okay so it tasted really good. the quality was there, and I feel like they did a good job. but one thing I really was disappointed in was they didn't have the blue hawaiian flavor (vanilla and coconut). the guy said they did and a few minutes later he came out and said they didn't have it. kind of disappointing. i got cherry (I don't really like cherry but this was okay!) but yeah. there's also other options like root beer and soda floats. I was about to get that instead but I didn't. yeah that's pretty much it. not too expensive, my order was $7, $6 for shave ice and $1 for ice cream. their toppings are all 1 buck. so that's great. hopefully u found this useful

They have one size - and its big!

Their staff was very nice and the portions are quite big. There wasn't a line when I got there so it was prepared pretty quickly and was delicious. My one (quite major) complaint was there wasn't anywhere to sit where you weren't harassed by a pack of bees - I had to stand up and keep moving to avoid them and all the other tables were having similar issues. I'm not entirely sure how they should go about fixing this but it certainly made the experience less fun.

Somewhat expensive shaved ice but it was solid after snorkeling. There are a lot of wild chickens in the food area, some bees by the tables too because of the melted shaved ice. Got stung by mosquitoes here.

Nothing like a cold treat with a beautiful backdrop! We enjoyed our shaved ice amongst the wild roosters and random rain! When visiting North Shore, you gotta partake in this cheap dose of lovely.

This shave ice spot was wonderful! It was not crowded either! The shave ice was a good price and the service was fast. I went with the melon and mango. I landed on a small because I have seen what regulars look like. In fact my hubby got a regular and asked me to get Spoon and help me eat this, is said no. Of course once I was done with mines I started on his, he didn't add ice cream, I think he regretted this. For three dollars you can enjoy a normal size shave ice. Also known as a small, the add ins are 1 dollar. I don't think that is a bad price at all. The next time my family and I venture to the North Shore we are going to park and walk! Heck, it might be next Sunday. There is also a cool wave and surf ‍ board thing you can take a picture with. My daughter took some super cute photos.

They took about 15 minutes to deliver my cold brew to me. They were not busy at all, and served shaved ice to about 6 guests who ordered after me. Both workers weren't wearing masks correctly (on their chins) when making the shaved ice, and when taking customer's orders. Before I asked them for the cold brew, the man at the counter was sitting on his phone, with his mask off, and vaping.

    "The Local"

Right next to Shark's cove (one of the most popular snorkeling areas) and amongst the food trucks, you'll find this shave ice food truck. We got one of their creations "The Local" and loved it, well, Atleast while we were still towards the top because no flavors made it towards the middle and bottom of the ice. After the first few spoons, it was just plain shave ice. The flavors were Lilikoi, Li Hing Hui, Melona and Pineapple. I love the condensed milk on top but was very disappointed with the missing flavors as soon as we got to the middle of the bowl. That may be the one thing I would watch out for, otherwise, great place.

This place was great!! Cute food truck style shaved ice and it was super cheap for so much!! Really a bang for your buck! It's easy to find too.

North Shore Shave Ice is great because it's located just across the street from Shark's Cove which is extremely convenient. The quality is mediocre but the price is pretty good at $4 for a bowl full of shave ice! There is a good variety of flavors to choose from and the girl at the truck was nice. I do wish that the ice was a bit silkier and that they'd have put more syrup on. Overall, it hit the spot but you can definitely get better shave ice elsewhere on the island.

    North shire shave ice!!! Yummy!

One thing I really appreciate is the variety of Japanese-inspired syrups you won't find at other shave ice shops. I went with flavors like Kyoho grape, yuzu and ume, which were refreshing and vibrant. They tasted much more natural than the typical artificial syrups. I added Japanese mochi as a topping, which is the perfect complement to the fluffy shave ice. The ice itself is light and fine, soaking up all the syrup without becoming icy or crunchy. Can't wait for my next visit.

I tried Matsumoto's once during an afternoon when the line was out the door, but the line moved…read morequickly. I went with a small for $3.75 (an affordable price in Hawaii!) with Blue Pineapple, Ume, and the limited time POG, and no toppings, as I prefer to enjoy shave ice as is. Though I liked the price and ice texture, the overall shave ice left much to be desired. I still enjoyed eating it, but I don't believe it would've tasted better to me if it had a snow cap or other toppings. Shave ice should be yummy on its own, without any additons. Matsumoto's has an extensive list of flavors. I don't know much about the syrups they use, but I noticed that these flavors didn't really pop out as much as those from other shops. I thought that pineapple, plum, and passionfruit-orange-guava would be distinct from each other, but they kinda had the same level of syrupy sweetness. Ume was the only one that had a hint of tartness, which I appreciated, but it was overwhelmed by the generally sugary, juice-like flavors. Ice texture was like an elevated snow cone. It was slightly crunchy yet still smooth, melting and combining easily with the syrups. They give you a spoon and a straw. Service was ok. The person at the front takes your order, then you keep walking in to pay at the counter, then you keep walking down towards the end of that counter to pick up your order. Staff weren't as chipper as I thought they'd be - they were simply going through the motions, fitting for what looks like an assembly line of making shave ice. There's lots of merch inside, from snacks to shirts to tote bags. Seating is only available outdoors, but there are plenty of benches and tables in the little quad there.

One magnet was clearly priced at $5, which seemed reasonable. The other two had no price tags, so I assumed they would be similar in price. It wasn't until after the transaction that I realized I had been charged $32, which really caught me off guard. After that, I went back to ask for a refund, but they refused and said they only do exchanges, which is not what I wanted. I also had to speak with three different employees, and they all gave me the same answer without offering any real help. On top of that, I was charged an extra fee for using my debit card, even though there is a sign posted saying they do NOT charge extra for card payments. That felt very misleading.
