I dropped the car off at 9:00 and left my cell phone number. I went to the library and read for a bit, chatted with an elderly woman outside the Lil' Tex restaurant (she was standing outside in the heat and I really just wanted to make sure she was ok), and I had a brunch at the C&H Hawaiian Grill (review to follow). Back to the window tint, this was the same business that had installed my original tint back in 2005 and the window decal has a lifetime warranty. As I dropped the car off (Mazda Miata) the owner told me that the job would take a bit and asked if I had someone coming to pick me up, I told him no worries, I planned to go the library and do some reading, i don't do enough reading for pleasure anyway. At 11:53, while still sitting in the C&H Hawaiian Grill, finishing my refill of root beer I received a call from the tint shop owner informing me that my car was ready. When I went into the office to pay my bill the owner/installer simply said "We're good", apparently citing the lifetime warranty on the original install. I should have taken the keys and just left but for some reason I couldn't, working inside of a cramped Miata for nearly three hours can not be easy, I had been informed of as much during the original install. Anyway, I asked the installer to come up with a reasonable charge, which he did, and that is what I paid. Call me crazy. I also learned that some civil cases do not appear when searching his name directly and instead must be found by searching the plaintiff's name (in this instance, Jeffrey Kramer). I will start by saying that Darrel does good work, so my wife and I became repeat customers. However, I paid up front for a bed cover which could have been ordered from multiple sites online that guaranteed delivery in 4 days. 26 days later, there was no bed cover to be had. I asked to cancel my order so I could order it myself and I was told he did not have the money to give back to me. I have been back 2 times in the last 10 days, and he still does not have the money. The last visit consisted of him cussing me out for not being able to compete with online sites, the same ones he could've ordered it himself from. I now have to resort to legal action just to get my money back. It should not have been this hard. I could make speculations about him using my money to fund another project in his shop and didn't have the money to order my cover and had to continuously give excuses why the cover had not arrived yet, but I won't. When talking about it with a friend of mine, the same thing happened to them here with a leveling kit, so this was not a first time for him.
