This year, I had my regular eye exam at Aloha Laser Vision. Fortunately, my eyes are healthy, so I didn't feel the need to continue seeing the medical eye doctor I had been visiting. The clinic is located on the 10th floor of First Insurance Billing, at the corner of Ward and Beretania. With the holiday season in full swing, the clinic was beautifully decorated for Christmas, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. Other than that, the entire clinic was very clean, and I felt completely comfortable and at ease during my exam. When I choose a clinic, cleanliness and the smooth flow of the staff are key factors for me, and Aloha Laser Vision excelled in both areas. The eye doctor who attended me was a young and friendly woman, efficient in her work and very thorough in explaining everything I needed to know. I was happy to receive great feedback and it made me think again about the importance of maintaining healthy habits and eye care to keep my eyes in good condition. While some eye doctors attribute vision problems to aging or genetics, I prefer doctors who motivate and encourage their patients. I want to take care of my eyes properly so that next year, I can get great results at my eye exam again. The ability to instantly check the clinic summary online is also a very useful tool for patients. I had cataract surgery on the first of April and the next day at the post operation exam. I was amazed at how much better my left eye was. My exam review found that I had 20/20 vision in my left eye. On the 15 of this month I had my right eye surgery and I was even more amazed. The Dr did a far vision and then he did a little of the close vision too . I have used Aloha Laser Vision for years including having lenses replaced in both eyes. From the first time I had an appointment back in 2019 to my most recent visit in March of 2026 I have been treated by the most courteous and caring staff and doctors. I've never had an issue making an appointment and they have been there for emergency last minute appointments as well. My lense replacement was a great decision and I went from needing glasses for everything to not needing them at all. I cannot emphasize enough: Dr Faulkner is a top, experienced, skilled, and professionally thorough and careful surgeon. As part of a cataract removal surgery, I wanted a premium multifocal lens that provided vision in all three zones without the need for glasses. Originally, I went to a different surgeon for the first eye and the result was poor vision. So, I went to the highly recommended Dr Faulkner to do the 2nd eye. I learned my case was complicated due to the shape of my cornea. In my case, the success of a multifocal lens would require additional precision cuts to the cornea. I learned not every surgeon has this high level of experience and skill that Dr. Faulkner has. Step 1 was a 2/1/2 hour thorough exam of my eye by a team of skilled and professional technicians and doctors using state of the art equipment. When my eye was found to be dry, they had me treat the dry eye condition for one week, and then they repeated a portion of my exam - just to be extra careful and sure. Once my eye was thoroughly examined, Dr Faulkner and his team spent a huge amount of time discussing the complexities of my case and options I had. And, they listened to my concerns. Went in for consultation today and was surprised with all the checks with the Hi-Tech machinery being free! The unit/office is beautiful plus the staff and friendly. Parking is free with validation. The doctor was very informative of my condition and knew what's the ideal decision for my situation as of now. Aloha Laser Vision has beeen a dream. After my most recent annual eye exam, I asked my optometrist about LASIK, and if I might be a good candidate. My optometrist shared that Aloha Laser Vision was offering LASIK to Lahaina residents. After a tumultuous few months, any and all positive news was welcome and I really couldn't believe the offer. However, my optometrist on Maui made it easy , and connected me with Christina from Aloha Laser Vision. The initial phone call with Christina was indicative of the quality of service and professionalism I would experience with Dr. Falkner and his team. I flew in to Oahu on a Wednesday with my CSA, and worked with Katie and had my pre-op with Dr. Mau. Katie was great and explained everything thoroughly, and Dr. Mau was awesome. She, along with my surgeon, Dr. Nempoor, determined I would be best candidate for PRK vs LASIK. They explained the differences between the two procedures and answered any questions and apprehensions I may have had. Christina was my counselor, who reviewed with me all the meds and what to expect. Surgery on Thursday went well, very quick, and the entire team at Aloha Laser did their best to make me feel comfortable. I left with some of Dr. Falkner's homemade cookies. Friday's post op was quick with Dr. Falkner. He did a quick looksee to make sure everything looked normal (Which it did), answered all of my followup questions, and sent me on my way back to Maui.
