We went there to look at an Ukulele they posted on the market place. Handel was great! He was very helpful; the uke was beautiful and sounded great! Everything was quick but we hung out for a little longer because we had to have a demonstration (we asked for a demo) of their acoustic bass and check out what else they had. This review is based on my experience purchasing an instrument and not the music school. Aloha Music School is located on the ground floor of the Imperial Plaza Condominium. I came here because they have a decent selection of violins. I should have gone with my gut feeling when purchasing a violin here. The first flag was when Daniel showed me the violin that I was interested in. I tell you this guys is such a show off. Instead of letting me try first, he plays it. Is it my turn yet? Second flag, he suggested me buying one that was made in China. Again he plays it first and then I finally get a turn. The sound of the one made in China was beautiful. I ended up buying the one made in China because the price fell within my budget and because of the sound quality when I played it. The cost of the violin included the soft case and bow. I am giving Daniel and the Aloha Music School a star because Daniel sold me BS. When he played the violin that I bought, he used a better bow and not the one that was included with my violin. Violin bows greatly influences the sound quality. Had he used the bow that came with the violin, I would not have purchased it. I did not realize it till after. I am really disappointed and do not recommend others purchasing their instruments here. Daniel is a typical salesman being flat out dishonest to make a quick buck. read more

Went to the store with excitement to find or have a new German Style Bass Bow order as I believe highly in supporting my local music store. This was my first time at the store and I was greeted at the front door by Daniel D. with hesitation while rudely on the phone. I wasnt sure at first if I could enter. I was fine with not letting that bother me so much as I still would have liked to have some attention to place have an order or ask if they carry the bow. While waiting for Daniel to finish his business on the phone I decided to wander the shop until I could speak with him. Wandering near an unmarked room with more instruments I was immediately stop by Daniel D. (while he was still on the phone) and with an elevated voice said "You are not allowed in the room, what are you looking for!". I have never been so rudely approached by a music store manager in my life! I felt as if perhaps I was profiled because I commuted by skateboard that day? (Left it in the front of the store as respect for the shop). Maybe having my board with me gave the impression that I am not a musician somehow. (Not sure) However, as a professional musician I will not recommend my students here for any repair work or supplies as I do not want them to have the same experience. I also will be speaking with my friends in the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra about this shop and see if they have had the same level disrespect or discrimination. read more

What a fantastic experience! The owner and I had spent the week chatting back and forth about a cello for my son; today was the first day I was able to make it to his store. The store is great...it's an experience in and of itself. Instruments everywhere, music coming out of every room...what a time. Zhong was beyond fantastic with my wife, son, and I. His knowledge is without equal; from the history to the build materials and quality. He showed my son how to tune his cello, how to properly hold the bow, and most importantly, how to care for his cello. My daughter was looking for a starter violin and we found this place through Craigslist. We came down on a Saturday afternoon and we found this place easily. This place mostly functions as a school instead of a retail space, so we had to wait between lesson times to look at their instruments for sale. We met Daniel, who has vast knowledge about violins, and he can also play one himself. We got a terrific price on a great violin which came with a bow and a soft case. My daughter was extremely happy with her choice and talked about it on the whole ride home. This place takes cash only. The parking lot is a paid lot, but we got validated for our time. First of all, their hours of operation aren't posted on their door. Second, their customer service sucks. If I could give them ZERO stars, I would. Guy was sitting down, watching his laptop. And although he did stop watching to ask us if we needed help, he was very rude the rest of the time we were there. So, I guess this store's forte isn't their knowledge in the different types of ukuleles they sell, only concerned with price. Sales person asked if we had a price range; it was between $100 and $200. I casually mention that the Koa is nice but was out of price range and the sales person said, "I already gave you the two best suggestions that we have." Excuse me!? I'm not trying to tell you how to do your job. But If you're looking to make a sale, then you'd better have information about your product instead of patronizing customers with your lack of knowledge. I had a great experience here today, and left really happy. I am new to learning the violin, so I had ordered a cheap violin off the internet, thinking it would do for the beginning. Although it looked nice, it sounded horrible. The owner inspected my violin and made an estimate what it would cost me to make the violin playable. He named a decent price, but he also informed me that, considering the added cost to my violin, I could get a much better student violin from him for almost the same price. He then demonstrated two of his violins and they sounded absolutely beautiful. Needless to say, I am returning my first violin to Amazon tomorrow, and today I went home with a beautiful looking and sounding violin from Aloha Music. YAY. My first son study on this school since 5 years old until he graduated high school and at the same time he played for honolulu symphony they teach my son a lot of knowledge and sharpen his mind. And now my son Graduate college and he's now going to Harvard University this august 2018.. Terrible customer service! I tried to buy a ukulele for the first time and no one wanted to help. The store manager or owner left without saying anything and asked someone else to help me without even addressing or speaking to me. They were all extremely rude and I felt like I was an inconvenience to them. I will elaborate more when I have time. But this was the worst experience I have ever had at a music store. Aloha Music School is located at a super convenient location. They offer validated parking with lots of parking spots. There's also restaurants, cafes, and a japanese supermarket right across the street so it's a convenient area to take music lessons. This music school offers violin, piano, guitar, and ukulele lessons. There's a big waiting area where parents can wait for their children or for the students to wait for their class time. Some were seen reading or doing homework in the waiting area while they wait. Aloha Music also sells musical instruments. They have a vast range of violins, guitars, ukuleles, and guitarleles for sale. Everything is offered at a reasonable price and the instruments are well made and good quality. They even offer after-care and repairs on instruments bought from them. read more

Self manufactured instruments that are superb in quality and u just can't beat the prices. Walked in to get a uke and walked out with a few. I've played a lot of ukuleles from the top of the line on down , and I can tell u , ide take this over any name brander I've played. Very bad customer service. Asked about how a particular class is like and the guy said, "why don't you pay for a few classes and find out." Like he did not explain anything but just wanted money, it's $40 for a 30minute class, my child really wanted to try so I got 2 classes. Really wished I didn't. I waisted $80 on the instructor joking around with my child for 20min and 10min learning. Will not be coming back and will not recommend taking classes here. I believe some instructors are great but the owner has a really bad attitude. read more

I wanted to gift a guitar to my cousin for his birthday-Handel provided easy access to items on Facebook Marketplace. He is very responsive and knowledgeable about the products. I was lucky enough to hear him play the guitar to assure me that the instrument was in good condition. They are still open but may be only using limited hours. This was by far the easiest and best location to purchase and view a great selection of instruments. My task was purchasing a Ukelele for a 10yr old girl for her Birthday. When I contacted the owner via Facebook Marketplace he responded quickly and answered all my questions with an obvious extensive knowledge base. Not only do they have a vast selection but their prices are very good.
