Did my yard yesterday. After mowing the lawn, I was going to trim up the edges all nice and neat but my Stihl weed wacker wouldn't start. After pulling on the rope a million times ;) and a lot of eff bombs, I figured I'd bring it to the pros. Took it to the Waipahu Aloha Power Equipment to get it repaired. Was told it would be around 4-5 weeks. But Randy took a look at it and got it running like a champ in minutes! Took it home and finished up the job. WARNING: DO NOT TAKE YOUR LAWNMOWER HERE FOR SERVING! I bought my lawnmower in to have the blades sharpened and general maintenance. I was told it would take 3 weeks, as they were busy. I agreed. 4 weeks later I tried to get a hold of them but like previous customers, I couldn't get a hold of anyone. The phone would ring only to say that the mailbox was full and to call back later. The following week I was able to talk to Adam. I asked what was the status of my lawnmower as it was more the 3 weeks he said it would take. He said that he would check on it and call me back in 20 minutes.(He never did) The following week I tried calling back numerous times again the same thing happened. Mid week I got lucky and Adam answered the phone. I asked him why he didn't call me back in 20 minutes, like you said you would, his reply was shocking! He said, "I can't remember what I did 20 minutes ago then to call you back. I immediately asked to speak to the Service Manager. He said that his name is Rodney, that he wasn't there and he would have him call me back. Rodney called me back and on checking on my lawnmower said I needed to replace my bedknive and carburetor. After going back and forth on calls he finally ordered an overhaul kit for my carburetor but couldn't tell me when it would come it. I asked if he could check on it but he never did. I had to call the Honolulu store so that they could contact him for me. After 7 weeks, I finally went down and picked up my lawnmower. Nothing was done to it! I took it to Small Engine Clinic. In 4 hours they charged me $120 to sharpened the blades (Aloha Power Equipment $160) They said that all they needed to do was retuned the carburetor. It works perfectly now. read more

My husband loves this place. They open at 9:00 am which is awesome for early risers. There is lots of parking right in front and the guys that work here knows their stuff. Whenever we need new yard equipment or help with repairs this is the place to go. Easy to find in Waipahu in a huge warehouse. What ever you need to upkeep your yard they have and they have a good stock of everything they sell. Non of this "oh we have to order it". That can be very frustrating. There is a sample product, but never in stock You might think that the prices here must be high. Considering you are purchasing top of the line the prices are great. You would be surprised. I personally like the honesty we get here. Ask a question and you will get an honest answer and recommendations. Not what the sales person think you want to hear or sell you. This is huge. With the cost of everything going up something has to be said about honesty. Ask questions so that you can make the best decision for you and your needs. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Do I need something just big enough or something with a little extra umph. It kept running through my head driving all the way to Waipahu. Decisions decisions. 1000w, 3000w, 4000w 5000w or 6500w. Electric start and pull start or just pull start. Already assembled or in the box. But it definitely has to be a Honda. Ended up settling for the EM5000. It's kinda big and more than enough. It was not cheap but I look at it as good investment. The boss man knocked off a good hundred bucks that helped a little too. I got it assembled, oiled and gassed up to boot along with a quick run down on operation. 12 hr run on a full tank at half load. Sweetness. The worker asked if I care about noise? I told him no. I've worked with other generators and they weren't as loud as this Honda even at full load. I was thinking if mine is the only generator on when the powers out I could care less. Main thing the two refrigerators are running and the lights working and whatever else needed power it's all good. Now there's no more thinking last minute if we should get one. Peace of mind. Excellent customer service at this location. It's located in the back of Midas. You'll have to come from Ewa heading Diamond Head to turn up the side road of Depot Road. You'll drive head in the driveway but will have to reverse out. read more

Drove 45 minutes to get a new expensive item and various other items. Made it not to far off from closing. Looked up price of item on net and thought um cheaper at the big box hardware store. Vocalized that to the sales guy and he states get it at the big box hardware store it's always cheaper knowing dam well the item is not sold at any big box hardware store. So off I go wasting valuable time and energy. Wish I was told that the item, I was after was pretty much only sold there or Ace. I would have loved to have bought it there. Had my trucut lawnmower sharpen and serviced from the Waipahu location and after 3 months the blades were dull and the rotor had to be adjusted. Took it back and they told me the 90 warranty has expired so they would have to charge me another $100 to resharpen and adjust. I cut my lawn just 12 times so not sure if they actually did sharpen the blades or not. I have a friend who waited 2 months before he got his lawnmower back. The reason they gave was that they forgot to check it in so it just sat there. I heard from others that the service is hit or miss so I won't be going back. There are other companies that service trucut so I will be using them going forward. James W your service manager was surprised that the blades went dull after 3 months. No one ever told me that sharpening was not covered under warranty. I'm not mowing a rock garden ......the blades should not go dull after 12 mows. read more

I took my McClane self-propelled reel mower in for a tune-up and blade sharpening. I received a quote for $750, which basically consisted of a total rebuild. I only paid @ $600 for it brand new and it was running the last time I used it, so I'm not sure why they decided I needed a complete rebuild. I couldn't fathom paying that much to repair a mower that would never be worth that much, so I paid the $50 diagnostic/estimate fee and put my mower back in the shed. I decided to buy a push reel mower (no motor) for $120. I also bought a sharpening kit so that I'll be able to keep it up myself. Two stars for having a nice selection of equipment available for purchase, but I wouldn't recommend them for lawn mower repairs. read more

Disappointing. Took my mower in for service. Quote was high (which is ok). I declined the repair, and I was told I need to pay for the diagnosis (again ok). I picked up the mower and as I was leaving, I noticed that they took apart the mower and didn't put the mower back together. I called to let them know and they said that they normally do that in case a friend is going to do the repair for you. (If I had a friend who could service the mower, I wouldn't need to bring it in). When I asked if they could put it back together, they said they would need to charge me to do that. I went back and told them to at least put on the chain and cover. I then noticed that there were three screws missing on the starter (?) cover. The technician said that he didn't take it off and they asked me if I took it off. (?). They did provide replacement screws, but it felt as though they thought I was an unreasonable customer and they were doing me a favor. This is my first yelp review. I thought people should know how they treat customers. I would recommend Harold's mower service. (More local service - busy though). read more

Wow! My husband and I walked in with no expectations to get our weed whack service. Spoke with the cashier who used to be a mechanic and another mechanic that was there off the clock. Asked questions, they answered. In short we ended up purchasing a new one with a 5 year warranty. But that's not all! They started up our new weed whack for us, put in fuel and line, and gave my husband a mini tutorial on settings and service. Their service and care for their customers was nothing short of amazing. Customer service baby! That's what it's all about! I was totally turned off by the other Honda power equipment dealer so I held my breath and gave these guys a call. The guy answers and I explain that my Honda eu2000i is broken and that my business depends on that generator. His response to me is "how soon can you get it here"? That was music to my ears. He gave me a rough estimate for the repair and maintenance which seemed fair to me so I jumped in my car and drove out to Waipahu. They greeted me as soon as I walked in and 5 minutes later I left with the assurance that I would get it back at the latest sometime tomorrow. I got a call at 4:30 the same day that my generator was repaired, the service was completed and it was ready for pickup. Now that's what I call excellent customer service! I went in for the Father's Day week sale. I needed a weed wacker that was strong enough to handle California grass. I ended up purchasing a Shindaiwa with blade attachment. The only reason for 4 star was that no one would come up to you while looking at equipment and offer assistance. But didn't really matter to me cause I already knew what I wanted. Then reply after the customer calls to say, " I was just about to call you". After telling one of the employés this place is ridiculous & they need to get their shit together the manager couldnt even talk to the customer themselves. 7/20/16 We recently had to let our yard guy go because money became a little tight for us. I was looking for a good gas trimmer to do the edging on all of our lawns myself. I called Aloha Power Equipment at about 3:45 pm and spoke to Tiana. She was so patient and knowledgeable about all the different trimmers. Tiana invited me to come down to fire up some of the trimmers so that I could experience them for myself. I drove from Ewa Beach to your Waipahu store at about 4:15. Upon arriving at the store, I was pleasantly greeted by Tiana and Dwayne. They showed me a Maruyama BT23L trimmer. Dwayne added some pre-mixed fuel and showed me how to operate the tool. As always, I had a billion questions for them. Both, Tiana and Dwayne, were so patient and polite despite it being the end of the day at about 4:55 pm. I didn't feel rushed at all. Dwayne even went the extra mile by showing me how to change the head on the trimmer and to reload string. I ended up buying a BT23L Maruyama trimmer, 2 cans of pre-mixed fuel, 2 different types of trimming string, and a Shindaiwa head and adapter kit. I have to say that I wish all my interactions with businesses were this perfect. These two people were absolutely over-the-top today in servicing me. I can guarantee you that they earn your company many repeat customers and referrals. I asked Dwayne how he is so happy. His response was that the company really takes good care of him. Great job with that! The positive energy radiating off these employees is a huge selling point. It leaves the customer feeling like life is great. I'd add two more stars if Yelp would let me. Saw an ad in the paper for an awesome sale. Went to check it out. They were slightly busy but we were greeted upon walk in by someone helping another customer. Picked up a Generator and went to the counter. Nice man helped us. He was very friendly and chatty. Since they had no wheel to spin that day (ad in the paper had a prize wheel at the other location), he threw in a freebe for the weedwacker cording. Another staff member told us how to prep the generator since we did not want to wait and they had lots of foot traffic. Great service. We will be back when were in need again. read more
