This dive shop has very knowledgeable associates working in the store. But the hours and actual opening time can be difficult with them running to the shore at various times throughout the day. Dive boat was simple and left on time each day. They are really geared towards single day visits so don't plan a multi-day trip with them as they go to the same dive spots every time. I highly recommend Savannah as your dive master! She was very patient, welcoming, and attentive with my dive buddy who hadn't dove in over a year. She took her time refreshing new divers with rented equipment and always reviewed the dove plan before site arrival. The boat captain was equally knowledgeable and kind. I am an active duty service member that enrolled in the VA program that these guys have. At the time Henry Alvarado was working there, and he convinced me to do the Dive Master program that these guys offered. Made it sound really cool and what not, but he left out the quote. I should have asked better questions, but before I knew it I lost 12 grand from my GI Bill. I was young and stupid, but that was my fault. I started my dives December 2024 with my open water certification and advanced open water certification. Some of the guys that work there are prior military, and they kind of treated the VA guys a little differently than regular customers which is fine. I was diving on and off on the weekends, and it was fun. Then some life stuff happened and I had to take a step back from diving. Keep in mind, it was advertised to me that VA students get free gear. Then they changed it, and we had to pay a small 100 dollars or something. Ok whatever. Then I start diving again a few months later, doing my first responder working towards dive master. Coming back was odd. Everyone acted like I was random. It didn't feel as friendly and professional as before. The instructors and owner were asking questions they had already asked me multiple times about certifications I had done. There was also a point where no one knew how many dives I had done, although it had been mentioned to me that I did not need to track the dives I did with them because they were all automatically logged, just to be told otherwise. It was obvious there was a big disconnect about record tracking and communication. One day I was headed down to town for a dive in the morning. Kevin was the captain that day. There was some roadwork so I wasn't there for the boat brief, but I still managed to park at 8:56, four minutes before the boat leaves. I showed up at the marina just for the boat to be gone. Kevin knew I was diving and didn't even call to ask where I was. When I texted him he told me I was late for the brief so he left early. I drove an hour to get there that day. I also know that a majority of the time when someone is late they wait about 5 minutes before pulling out of the marina. Sometimes I have even left at 9:15. But Kevin couldn't even give me the courtesy of a phone call. I finally found sometime to get sized for gear in September. I Had just had a baby the beginning of that month, but I was trying to get as much done as I could. When I first got sized for that gear, by Kevin himself, I was told to expect pickup within a week. I then asked Kevin where it was and he said it takes a couple weeks. Then I asked Kevin after a couple weeks, he said he didn't have it. Then I asked Kevin by text November 26th and called the shop. I was left on read by text from Kevin, and when the shop called him they said Kevin was on the boat and to call back another time. Then I called today (DEC 8) just to be told that there is still nothing and whoever I was on the phone conveniently wouldn't tell me there name, as they repeatedly disrespected me over the phone, ad then asked me to respond to an email with sizes because "they didn't want to write it down." They told me that I hadn't been following up like I should have for the gear and they probably gave it to someone else. ONE WHOLE YEAR AND STILL NO GEAR. There's some good guys there like Derek and Mike. Pretty much everyone there is pretty great except for the owner Kevin and one other older guy. He has some weird conversations on the phone sometimes. My business with them is so bad that I am not continuing my program and I do not even want the gear anymore. It's not worth it. Great Dive outfit with exceptional attention to detail and safety. Was pleased to encounter this shop at the bottom of the hotel we were staying in (Ala Moana Hotel). This shop differentiated itself from others because they have their own dive boat, while other outfitters may rent space on a boat with other guides. It allows them to control the process due to familiarity with one another. They took us on short boat rides, to amazing dive sites, where we saw Sharks, turtles, octopus, eels, and an impressive variety of fish. Also of note was the quality of their PADI certification services. My children did a discovery dive with them and ended up getting certified before the end of the trip. Visited Hawaii for the purpose of getting my PADI certificate. Took the o line PADI course prior to traveling and did the diving portion of it with Aloha Scuba. Libbie,, our instructor, was over the moon. She was extremely knowledgeable about diving and has clearly dedicated her life to it! She was friendly and made what can be a stressful situation very calm and relaxing. She was great, not only with me, but the other students as well, both in and out of the water! Justin, you have a real winner there, if you're smart, you'll clone her! Will definitely come dive with you guys again. I took my Advanced Open Water here with Libbie. Libbie was fantastic. She has so much knowledge but can convey it in a way that makes it not only able to be understood, but able to be retained. I highly recommend her if you're looking into getting certified at any level. I may fly back out here just to take her Rescue course. I was thoroughly impressed with every single facet of this operation. You can tell each and every decision was made with safety as the primary concern. The boat is one of those unsinkable, jet-driven, aluminium, self-righting, engineering wonder. They have a large O2 supply on board, not just a dinky emergency can. The captain will absolutely call out unsafe practices. The instructors/guides are so knowledgeable and comfortable that you will feel at ease no matter your skill level. I actually convinced my ocean-fearing, "I won't swim in the ocean" friend to go on a Discovery Dive, and he loved it. I ended up doing an additional set of dives after completing my course just because they're that good. I ended up doing 7 dives in 3 days On the same 2 sites, and I never once got bored or regretted it. Hell, I'd do 7 more if I had the time. All in all I'll never visit Hawai'i again and not go out with these guys. read more

The team at Aloha Scuba Diving Co. is one of the best that I have dove with! I've been diving for over 25 years and talked to several instructors about getting my daughter certified. Kenny did her certification for open water and she loved it. He was thorough, patient, and has a good sense of humor. When we talked about doing her advanced course, she said only if Kenny could be the instructor. Fast forward, to this weekend we just finished up her Advanced Open Water. Her words after the first dive on the Sea Tiger, "That was soooo cool!" During the first deep dive, she had some ear issues. The whole crew was patient with her, which made her very comfortable.
