Not greeted when we walked in but still bought (2) snorkel masks that was $80 ish each and broke after 1 use. Never dropped it never snorkel in rough water never put too much pressure on these and both broke so easily! The plastic around mask just cracked out of no where just went took em off after the first use and went crack. Price is gurantee for the glass but the outside material junk. Not quality. My $5.99 ross snorkel went drop many many times user em many many years and still work till this very day. Receipt says "no return in this pandemic" should valid if you guys sell quality. Masks poorly made. Not recommend any masks from here. Thought i was investing into something better than ross or longs but turns out this is savers quality. read more

I haven't been to their original store on Hawaii Island but the Oahu store has a pretty wide selection of fishing, diving, and hunting gear. Being that they're in Kaimuki, sometimes they run out or low on stock, but they usually have a good range of popular items. From terminal tackle, to jigs to flashlights, even personal protection, and fly tying tools. I'm a light tackle fisherman, so I like their selection of micro jigs and fly gear. I like to describe their service as fair. Their staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Not the best conversation all the time. But they're humans and have to deal with all kinds of people asking for "secret spots" or "best" gear setups. They even have frozen baits! read more

Lastly, I called and ordered a rifle about two months ago and every time I call back and ask the status the manager says "oh, I don't know the status" Since you're an authorized dealer shouldn't you be able to contact the vendor and find out where the f my Rifle is? I honestly don't know how this shop gets such glowing reviews? Maybe it's from the "buddies" that don't require good service. I went in today to get a receipt for the refund of deposit on the rifle and then he tells me "do you still want the rile? they shipped it today" Well, thanks for letting me know the status after I canceled my order your customer service is really top-notch. Went over to J Hara Store to stock up on some supplies. Being this my first trip to this store, I received help from Jay, who was very helpful. He helped me pick up fishing supplies like fishing poles, reels, lines, hooks etc... and he even told me the different uses of each product. There were some products that were not on the shelf , and asked Jay if they were in stock. Jay ended up checking in the back and restocking the shelf! Great customer service. Things I've bought here: Frozen squid for bait, hooks, swivels, weights, grubs, lures, tackle box, and today I bought a spool of fishing line and they wound it using that machine onto a new reel my son just got. They also sell knives, guns, rifles, and ammo which freaks my kids out so I try not to bring them with me when I shop here. Review solely based on customer service. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Went for some hooks and swivels to pick up for my boyfriend since I was in the area. The door makes a sound when you open it so the staff know there's someone coming but not 1 person looked up, said "Hi" or any kind of acknowledgement. There were 3 other people in the shop at the time but both clerks were behind the counters. I went through 3 isles before finding what I needed and spent a total of 15 minutes looking at what else they had. No one came to check on me or asked if I needed help, nor the other people that were in the shop. When I went to check out, 1 clerk was in the back and the other was at a different counter. So I went to the other clerk and he tells me "oh, you have to pay for your things over there" and points to where I just was. I waited for about 2 minutes before the clerk came out from the back area. He didn't even look at me or say anything, just rang my stuff up and gave me my receipt. No "Thank you" or anything. I only bought my stuff because I was in the area. It's not hard to say "Hello" and "thank you" at the least, do they not care about what kind of image they're portraying on the company? This review is for the ammo. It was really expensive. 7mm Remington magnum was $71.00 and some change for 20 rounds. Damn! Seriously! The CCI .22 was $10.00 for 100 rounds. They don't sell it by the brick so pretty much $50.00 if you bought five packs which you could find cheaper by the brick if you looked around and acted on it quickly. I believe the .223 was $26.00 for 20 rounds. I think it's cheaper to buy this in bulk which they don't sell. On a good note the customer service was very good. They were very friendly and very helpful. If your into fishing they have a nice setup of Penn reels too and a small selection of poles. They have a freezer with frozen bait too to the left when you enter the store. I would recommend this store to anyone into archery, fishing, knives and ammo if you really really need it. read more

Seems like only da salty guys putting one star here cause da guys at da shop not all smiles, which is such a weird thing to knock points down on. I personally find it weird when workers give me fake greetings and empty thank yous. i mean the reviewers aren't wrong in that some of the guys aren't like super cheery and bubbly to talk to with smiles on, but ah, idk, it never really bothered me. Plus, if they walk in without a smile, can't really expect workers to try make idle smiles for you either lol. Plus most fishing people i meet aren't social butterflies anyways, only guys i hear talking choke is either da drunk uncle, or the guy that usually catches nothing, but wants to tell you over and over about dat one ulua that hit or da one oio, and in every case the weight is double than it actually was(we all met dat guy before) I've never had a problem buying anything. Had pricing error before, came in with receipt they fixed it right up no questions asked. they don't try to up sell me on anything either, they don't question gear choice either. fishing really is kind of hard for the "Right answer" so if you're going in to test the fishing guys on knowledge, that's sort of a hard thing to do. I mean unless they say, you gotta yank the line when using circle hooks, okay yeah, total fail, or they tell you to make your lead line stronger than your main line. None of that kine advice was ever given though lol. Or people get all kinds preference for grub colors, and fire/glo bead set ups, all that is based on what worked for you and your spot/weather/time of day, all anyone can do is suggest what worked for them and what others shared. these guys may not have a large store but they have good selection, at least for shore casters. read more

Came here because we've been to the original J Hara store on the big island a lot and wanted to check out the one here on Oahu. First of all it's below the Kaimuki Longs. You can't really unless popping out at. There lots of parking and seems small from the outside but they are actually bigger then they look. They pack a lot of items into their store, just like the one in the Big Island. They carry everything you need for light and heavy fishing, crabbing, and hunting. This place has good prices and availability on plugs, skirts, hooks, reels. Prices are very fair to. They have the biggest selection of damashi I've seen so far on island and prices are good. Only thing dont expect to much help. I go there kind of often and still, there is a short stubby Asian guy that always just says YES when u ask him a question. Good way to sale things but not good if it isn't good information. I've been fishing my whole life so couple times I ask a question I know the answer to just to hear his response and most times he's wrong. And not very friendly. Hard to get him to have a smile on.
