She has been working with my son, now 5, for the past two years. He has some sensory needs and she's consistently patient, caring, and understanding and moves at the pace that's right for him. She balances genuine care with a strong focus on safety and helps him build a real love for the water. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for private swim lessons for their child.

When my son started with her we had tried several group classes and he hated water and wouldn't even get his head wet. She warned that he would cry the first couple classes (both before booking and as the session started) but that it would get better. He screamed so bad the first class, I thought she was going to ask us not to come back. She reassured us that it was normal and sure enough by class 3, maybe 4, he was obsessed. Classes are 15 minutes/ twice a week. it's just long enough to keep their attention and learn something. Although if Michelle's next client is late or she has a free few minutes she'll extend the session, if the child is having a good time- this is truly her passion and not her job and it shows. We've been going for over 9 months and I have tried to move him to a group class setting just for maintenance because he can swim now but he won't leave coach michelle and honestly I can't blame him. Coach Michelle is kind and gentle. She explains absolutely everything to the kids so they know what is happening and they aren't scared. She's patient, kind, and understanding. She has built a personal relationship with my son and talks about life outside class and he talks about what he is going to tell her at his next class. We're beyond swim class at this point and i'm not sure how we'll ever leave her. luckily I have a 1 year old we'll be starting soon.

She's very comfortable in the water and does well at holding her breath and going under water. She's kicking a lot with her legs and swimming her arms. She's been able to go a short distance to the side of the pool with a little help. We are very happy with this school!

My 3 year old daughter went to swim school here as a new swimmer. She had been going about 5…read moremonths and had a few different instructors. She was afraid of the water but had made strides. She still didn't enjoy the deep water, but we could get her in the pool and she followed most instruction that she felt comfortable with. One evening, her normal instructor was not there so the owner, Wendy taught the class. Wendy is known for being abrasive but as long as my child is being pushed the right way, it's always okay. My daughter was crying this time, I think half because Wendy is abrasive and was not her normal instructor. The other half I think was because Wendy was bringing her into the deeper water which she was not comfortable with. My daughter continued to cry while being floated on her back. My daughter was visibly and verbally uncomfortable, stating she was scared multiple times. With no sympathy to this, Wendy kept my daughter on her back while she was crying. She continued to cry and Wendy proceeded to splash her in the face. The splashes then became cupping water, and purposely putting it into my daughter's mouth, causing her to cough, and swallow water repeatedly while Wendy stated "if you keep crying, you're going to keep getting water in your mouth." This happened several times, but my daughter continued to cry while undergoing this. When my daughter continued to cry, she was submerged under water a few times while still on her back, taking in more water. At this point, I told my daughter to exit the pool. She continued to cough up water to the point of almost vomiting, outside and inside, though I wish she had. We left immediately, and I assured Katrina she would never intentionally be hurt by Wendy again. This was reckless behavior, and it endangered my child. I am glad I took her out when I did because this could have ended so much worse. My daughter coughed all night so the next day, I took her to urgent care where they did an X-Ray and found water in her lungs. She was diagnosed with subsegmental atelectasis/infiltrate from aspiration of water. They advised me that if she gets a fever, to bring her back in as it can be very serious. We followed up with her doctor the following week since she was still coughing and the doctor said it was good news that she never developed a fever but to keep our eyes on it. The coughing is simply the body's attempt to get rid of the water. 2 weeks later, we did a follow up X-Ray since she was still coughing but luckily, her lungs were clear. My daughter coughed for almost 4 weeks. When I contacted Wendy to discuss reimbursement, she called me several times, and left a few messages. She even stated she "lost her patience, " "made a bad choice" with my child and "took responsibility." She mentioned that I threatened her but I simply asked for my money back with the 2nd option being court. She sent a few emails stating the same type of things and then said she was taking a leave of absence and disappeared. Wendy never even asked how my child was. She simply called her insurance company and attempted to let them handle it. In her insurance paperwork that they sent me, she even said she was not a witness. I told her insurance company that I would not be a part of whatever fraud she was trying to commit. I went ahead and filed a small claim against her. I certainly could have gone further but I simply wanted her to take responsibility, apologize, and ask if my child is okay! Her insurance company then told me that they would gladly pay the small amount we requested. After it was settled, the insurance company told me Wendy had requested that I do not post anything on social media about the incident and I politely told the insurance company that she is insane if she ever thinks I would do that. I was shocked that she would even ask this of me. It is absolutely my right as a parent to let other parents know what is going on there and what kind of instructor she is. If she admittedly loses her patience with 3 year olds, she should not be teaching them. This situation could have ended so much worse, and was the scariest moment of my 3 years as a parent. To watch a "responsible" adult purposely hurt your child is something I never wish on anyone. Really, she should be happy I did not press charges instead of walking away in shock. My daughter now has a fear of the pool more than when she originally started. We are taking a break for a while and will maybe try it again next year with private lessons from another school. Don't bring your kids here and always trust your gut!
