I've been bringing both of my kids here for the last 4 months and we love it! My daughter is 10 years old and already knew how to swim but she wanted to learn more advanced techniques, she was with Martin and liked him a lot. She just graduated to Pre Comp and is now a swordfish. My 10 month old started with the parent tot class for 1 month and then we switched to private lessons with Emily and he's doing so good! He's going underwater and learning to float already. We switched to a different coach a few months ago due to changes in availability. Hence the update, but also wanted to mention some others. Coach Leo has been fantastic with our 3 year old son. We have seen so much progress in his abilities to swim. More importantly, to me, my son is so excited to go to swim lessons. Coach Leo is warm, encouraging, patient, and caring. He always wraps up the lesson with a summary of what was worked on and what is to come in the future. He is a wonderful addition to the Watersafe team. We will always be thankful for the invaluable lessons he's teaching our son. Can't say enough about how clean the facility is - staff is constantly keeping things clean and organized. This is a long over due review. My three children have attended this swim school off and on since 2019, since the Seal Beach location was open. We have since moved a few times and attended two other swim schools but Watersafe was always the standard that we compared all other schools to. They are not only the most cost effective but the most efficient in teaching littles how to swim. We've been to several other schools some private. Some still open pools with several lessons on going like Watersafe but all of them more expensive, all of them less effective. One of the private schools was over double the price and not nearly as effective as the fast track classes. I highly highly recommend the fast track classes. They do a fabulous job of introducing the water to littles and warming them up to lessons. If you're in the area and looking for a swim class this is the school. They have the most flexible cancellation policies that I've ever seen. They're super understanding and friendly. The Los alamitos location is sizable and there's plenty of room to rinse off/change littles. It's the BEST swim school EVER. I cannot recommend it enough!! read more

I wrote a review a few years ago but wanted to give a shout out to ms Ginny! I have nothing but amazing things to say about watersafe!!! We have had an incredible experience doing the fast track with ms Ginny. It is everyday mon-thurs for 1 month. My almost 5 year old son has done 5 months of fast track and my 2 year old is on her 3rd month. Their progress has been amazing. Ginny is a true gift and a one of a kind teacher. Water safety is really important to us and watching how much both my kids progressed in such a short amount of time has been remarkable, if you can get into fast track with Ginny it is so worth it. Both of my kids absolutely adore her and she really goes above be and beyond!! Also wanted to note the front desk staff is always willing to help and is friendly, texting them is so easy! My almost 2 year old son loves the water but like most kids was a little nervous around new people. He's been with Martin for about a month now, and we're finally at the point where there are no more tears! The first few lessons definitely came with some crying, but even then, we could see him learning and getting more comfortable with the water. Just wanted to let other parents know.. it's totally normal and OK if your kid cries in the beginning. Don't give up! And we have to give Martin his flowers. I love this place! I started taking my son to the parent-tot classes when he was 5 weeks old, and we have been here ever since (almost 4 years later). While sports are not a "must" in our family, learning how to swim is nonnegotiable. Watersafe is worth it. Parent-Tot classes: I love how I had time to bond with my baby in the pool and show him the water was a fun place. We had a wonderful time together as we sang songs, played games, and did little drills. Private lessons: Mr. Wyatt is the best. Hands down. Although private lessons are 15 minutes long, my son is working his tail off doing drills (and playing games) the entire time. Wyatt is great with children, and has a clear vision of realistic goals for his students. I cannot believe how well my child swims, floats, and climbs out of the pool. I am incredibly proud of my son's progress, and am delighted by how much the staff cares for the kids. I cannot believe my almost 4 year old can swim! read more

great place for kids to learn -- just make you get a seasoned teacher and not a newbie who's getting trained on your dime. Also -- no other business in America celebrates more holidays than Watersafe. They will take any holiday and milk it for 2-4 days if they can. A bit frustrating at times. We have met Coach Steven when he filled in for Coach Martin for the P&T class. We like how attentive, welcoming and engaging Coach Steven is. Coach Martin did a great job helping my son transition to his 1:1 with Coach Steven. My son felt comfortable, safe and was really enjoying his time. I noticed a boost of confidence in my son. Coach Steven provided guidance and help redirect my son as needed. I liked the balance of being there for support and allowing independence and trust in my son's ability to implement the skills on his own. My son was smiling and wanted to continue swimming. Thank you Coach Martin and Coach Steven for being soo caring, patient, welcoming and attentive towards my son and to other students. This was the most useless $220 we've ever spent. Plus $20 for a neoprene diaper and $40 for a wetsuit that must be purchased from this school. It was our first lesson -- my child is 2 years old. She hadn't even had time to understand where she was, when some strange man (the instructor) started pouring water over her head. Our session ended 10 minutes after it began, and I spent the next 20 minutes calming her down from a full-blown meltdown. We managed to convince her to try again, and this time no one touched her -- but she was already scared. Our child loves the water and always plays happily in the ocean. We didn't want her to develop a fear of water because of an instructor's lack of professionalism. They refused to refund us anything. I do not recommend this place. read more

Have been taking my daughter to Watersafe for 6 months now and she loves coming to swim lessons! We do the evening parent tot class with Ms Kiki and it's been really awesome to see her progress over the last few months, slow and steady. The require a few things for the baby to wear (happy nappy and wetsuits) that they have for sale at the store for decent prices imo. They charge monthly and classes are once weekly for 30 mins. There is a small changing area and two bathrooms with showers. We've never had an issue finding space to change before and after. During the lessons we practice skills that would help if she ever accidentally fell in the pool. It's hard at first to put your small child underwater but the instructors do not push these skills and allow the child to dictate the lesson (i.e. we have def had some off days where there was no putting her underwater at all, so we practiced other skills.) I am impressed and excited to see my daughter grow as we continue lessons! They are moving their seal beach location but why they are still there, there's some street parking and a handful of spots in the church lot designated for the school across the street. They also offer adult aerobics classes and private lessons alongside swim meets- excited to check those out as my daughter gets older. read more

We have had a really great experience with Watersafe Swim School and Coach Wyatt for my son, who just turned 7. After lessons at two other swim schools, my son was comfortable in the water but could not swim. What I really appreciate about this school is that there is an actual method of learning swim that is being followed, and parents can understand where their child is in terms of progression. I am a pediatrician, and given what I have seen in my career, I felt strongly about wanting my son to learn to swim well. At the rec of a friend, we started with Coach Wyatt, whom I can say really taught my son to swim confidently and independently. Coach Wyatt is awesome because he strikes a really good balance between challenging the kiddo to progress while still being warm & friendly. Coach Wyatt is very knowledgable about not only swimming, but the subject of water safety. One thing that stood out to me early on is the perspective that there is no one-hundred percent safe water situation when it comes to children, so the best thing we can do for them is to build a strong foundation for swimming. We have had such a good experience that I signed my 1 year old daughter up to continue with Coach Wyatt, and now my son will continue at Watersafe in group classes. My two year old usually love swim lesson with her regular instructor Edna. She's kind, gentle and finds creative ways to incorporate toys into the lesson because that's what helps my daughter learn. All of the substitute teachers we encountered have been wonderful except... Today, we had a make up session with Jerralynne. Who was strict, unfriendly, and I witnessed her aggressively handle my daughter who wanted to play with her toy. This instructor should not coach young children. When lesson complete she blamed my daughter for wanting her toy instead of swimming... This instructor lacks flexibility and understanding of basic toddler behavior. read more

I'm so grateful for this swim school. We started with the parent tot classes and have continued through private lessons for years. All the teachers we have tried have been fantastic, but special shout outs to Mr. Briton, Mr. Ryan, Miss Kate, Miss Janelle, Miss Rosalie, Mr. Ivan, Mr. Daniel, Mr. David, Miss Leah, and Mr. Wyatt. Through the years, these teachers have met my kids where they were at socially, emotionally, and ability-wise. They truly care about each unique student, and will tailor the lessons to the learning style and needs. Although the skill advancement framework is the same for all, the way each student gets there and is taught will be personalized to each kiddo. One of the things I love is that you never lose a lesson, as long as you notify them that you will be absent by 8am the morning of the lesson. This allows you to experience different teachers, different teaching styles, and in time enhances the learning and progress of each student. I find it tricky to schedule a makeup using their app, but the staff can be quickly and easily contacted via text. They are always quick to respond, courteous, and very helpful in scheduling makeups. Also, September-November is All-You-Can-Swim! If your kiddo is enrolled in lessons once a week, the can sign up for open lessons every day for free during this period. You might not get a lesson every day, but over the period it ends up being a great deal to rapidly get extra training. Over time, the teachers in the pool get to know you and your kiddos, even if they aren't in lessons with them. Thank you Watersafe team for making us feel like family! In terms of facilities, the staff always keeps the facility clean. There are ample changing rooms and bathrooms, long tables to change very young swimmers, a supply shop in case you forget anything (like that swim diaper), as well as a communal shower. Be prepared that your kids will want to buy one of the delicious popsicles they offer on the way out! There is a turf area to eat it with some shade outside! Parking is a bit tight at this location, but plan an extra minute or two and I've always found a spot over 4 years. read more

Disorganized and a complete waste of time for us. Get ready for a really frustrating experience if you choose to come here. We did a few parent and tot and had make up classes to use up. At first I was informed by the employee on the phone I would re-enroll him and pay the enrollment fee and he could start After I got my payment went through I then got a call that if I am using make up classes he didn't need to pay a re-enrollment fee and that I would just book make up classes. So they had to reverse the payment. Then I was informed he can only do make up classes in spots where people would cancel- so you will have to keep texting and calling to book classes. Each time you will probably get a different instructor and there will be no consistency. Finally, I asked to make sure that we could get in the pool with him since he is a bit anxious in the water without us. I was assured he could over the phone. And then after we arrive we are told no we cannot get into the water even if to stay by the side to make sure our son won't be nervous. We also were told that he needs a "happy nappy" even though he is potty trained and wearing a swim diaper. This was told to us after we finally got our son into the water. So now after ten minutes of the fifteen has already passed we take our son out of the water to change back into his clothes. What a colossal waste of time for us after driving for 45 minutes. I really wish they told us of the policy before we arrived that he needs to be four to not wear the happy nappy. Not really sure what the logic is in wearing the happy nappy if he is potty trained. We won't get to use our remaining make ups because we are moving out of state at the end of next month. Was told that it is their policy not to offer refunds so we are probably out hundreds for a really disappointing experience. We really wanted to love Watersafe, especially at its price point. We signed up in hopes to start competitive swim but never had the chance. Unfortunately it just didn't work out for us. The main reason being that we almost never had a consistent teacher once my child moved up a level. The teacher was constantly absent and we'd have different subs teaching different techniques and once the main teacher was back, she'd had to reteach the kids the way felt was best. Another issue we had is we specifically asked for female teachers only. Almost every sub we had was a male. A bit of a bummer but not the end of the word. Our final straw to ending our contract was my daughter not being able to be evaluated for the next level. Because the teacher was absent so often and subs wouldn't evaluate, she didn't get to move up. We were at a stand still for quite a long time before my daughter said she was done swimming here. However, the front staff were some of the kindest people I've ever met. They always greeted us with friendly smiles and made great conversation. Ms. Quinn was the best and I have nothing but amazing things to say about her. I wish our schedules aligned and we could've stayed with her. She truly loves the sport, the kids and wants to see her students succeed. read more

My kids have been taking individual private lessons with Ms. Priscilla! She is the best! We absolutely love her! I love that it's a once a week commitment for 15 minutes! My kids have both learned a lot, despite the short time slot. The only reason for 4 stars is because when I finally enrolled my son in a time slot next to my daughter, he went thru 2-3 instructors who quit after his 2nd or 3rd lesson with him. There is a little bit of an instructor turnover for some reason. This was frustrating as he was 1 and it takes time for littles to trust people, but finally a slot with Ms. Priscilla's opened next to my daughters slot so I was able to switch to her. But there are also some really good seasoned instructors who are amazing! Mr. Alex is so great with the kids and I would highly recommend him too! Parking can be a little tight sometimes, so allow plenty of time to park and get changed. Lots of changing tables for littles and only a few rooms inside. All facilities are well cleaned and kept up to date. I love that I can put in absences and schedule makeups on the app! We look forward to continuing lessons here! read more

Amazing difference between the instructors at Watersafe when compared to other swimming schools. They are so patient with the children and the techniques and equipment used are superior as well. We LOVE Watersafe! All 3 of my kids have learned to swim here over the years and it has always been a positive experience. We've done lessons in Seal Beach and Los Alamitos with various instructors over the years and they've all been amazing! The cancellation and make-up policy is family friendly and all of the staff are kind and helpful. The way that they teach is so consistent and fun! All of the instructors do lessons the same way so each time we've done a make up class or our regular instructor has been gone, the lessons just pick up right where we left off with no disruption. We've been working with Ms. Ginny for the past month (Fast Track Program), and we're incredibly grateful for her patience and dedication. At the start, my strong willed 2 year old son was extremely impatient, not use to have structured training, and would cry/scream during the first two weeks of lessons; however, Ms. Ginny handled the situation with such care and understanding. She took the time to make him feel safe and comfortable, adjusting her approach to meet his needs. Thanks to Ms. Ginny's calm and encouraging manner, my son has gradually become more confident and safe in the water as he's now floating on his back and swimming. In just a month, we've seen a remarkable transformation in both his skills and attitude toward swimming. What impressed us most was Ms. Ginny's ability to keep things fun while maintaining a gentle yet consistent structure. My son now looks forward to each lesson, and we couldn't be happier with the progress he's made. Although the Fast Track Program is pricey, it's definitely worth it.
