Great Service. Good staff. Any problems had were quickly resolved. Highly Recommend.read more

I've had my storage unit at Personal Mini Storage on Forsyth for over ten years. Never any…read moreproblems, always liked the place (though to be fair, I live in California so I don't get out to the unit that often.) This weekend, I went to repack everything for movers to bring it out to me in San Francisco. (Everything had been packed for storage and accessibility - not for a long distance move). I had a mattress and box springs in there - they'd been in storage for ten years, in the Florida humidity, there was evidence of roaches in the unit (no fault of PMS - this is Florida we're talking about) - but I have no use for this mattress. I was trying to remove it to dispose of it but we were struck with a horrendous thunderstorm that persisted late into the night. I needed to get to the airport, waited as long as I could. Earlier in the day I had spoken to the lady in the office and she'd said if they had to dispose of the mattress it would be a $50 fine. That if I put it in their dumpster that they'd get hit with a $50 fine, or they would have to call a guy to take it away and that would cost $50 and she'd have to fine me. Ok, I thought, I tried - but in sideways rain, I can't very well tie this thing to the top of my car now, can I? So I sent an email, profusely apologized and explained that I got caught in the rain and couldn't do it - please bill me for whatever penalties, tack on an extra month of rent, whatever, I understand this is an inconvenience. When my movers showed up the next day, she went out and harassed them, demanded they take it, and then when they called me to see what they should do, she got on the phone with me and told me she didn't have anywhere to put it and no way to get rid of it and they had to take it. She was positively apoplectic over it. Now - this is the same woman who a day before said it would be $50. If I have to pay to have it moved to SF, and then have to pay to have it disposed of here, that thing's gonna cost me $500 to be rid of it. Minimum. I was basically offering her $200 to keep me from having to do that. I've got to believe she's just hurting inside to be that irate over this. She had even presented the alternative herself - it seemed inconvenient but hardly insurmountable. Hardly the sort of thing to yell at me on the phone over and harass my mover, after my advance apology and offer to pay whatever she needed to make it right. Thankfully, my mover offered to take it for me for $50 and dispose of it. So I guess she's out the "a-hole tax" I had been willing to pay for messing up. I'd have left this place a 5-Star review except that there are clearly some emotional issues in the office that have no place in a business. Would not do business with them again.

I couldn't wait to get out of this place after they raised my rent by 25%. I was paying $350 for a…read more10 x 7 unit that I had for the past 12 years. If I wanted to rent that same until from the same place, it was probably about $150 a month after they added the required insurance, taxes and fees. So instead of keeping a long time customer, I moved out and went somewhere else where I'm paying less than 1/2 for a bigger unit. The other issue with this place is that there are only two carts so if you get there on a busy day you better bring your own. At the new one I go to there are 4 carts and the place is not as big. Oh and no bathrooms -- those are gone now.

Rented a large storage unit here for 2 years. Rate was doubled after just a few months in. Decided…read moreto leave items there due to hassle of moving. Informed manager Jose that I would be moving out and stopped my autopay. He saw the movers emptying out our unit. Unfortunately our movers neglected to remove the lock. When the company did not receive payment on the 3rd of the following month, Jose called. I informed him we moved 2 weeks prior- as he witnessed. He said the move out isn't complete until lock removed. We removed the lock the very next day (6/4). Offered to pay the 4 days only, instead of the entire month. Jose said that was against policy. Heard nothing back after that until 10 weeks later when I received a letter from a debt collector. Shame on Public Storage for the bait and switch after 3 months doubling rates, for witnessing a move out but only calling to confirm after next month payment due, and for the inflexibility with prorating due to customer error. Spent over $15,000 with them. Trust me. Choose wisely. Go elsewhere.
