This restaurant could be a five star all around if they had better service for to-go orders. Great food ain house but terrible to-go order situation. You can call them two times or eight times and they won't answer their telephone. they will actually pick up and hang up on you When you show up to make it to go order they tell you it's a one hour+ wait. Ambiance & Service were fine. BIG PROBLEM with food! It's been years since we went to Felipe's, always liked it. 1. Sign upfront said 3% off Margaritas. But waitress insisted it was only 2%. Price wasn't listed anywhere. GRR! Discovered later they were $12, more than we've experienced. (Margaritas WERE very good.) My husband ordered a Combo. But the only mean was hamburger in a taco. Burrito, enchilada, other(?) had NO meat...for $17.50??? Menu indicated several kinds of meat. If they were there, they couldn't be identified. I had the Fiesta salad. It had a LOT of chicken. But it wasn't really a 'salad' since they only other ingredients were lettuce and tomatoes--and SALT! Whatever the 'dressing' was, was very salty--and not any good flavor. My SALAD was $18!!!??? Total was $71! SOOO disappointed in the food--and the price. I will say the servings were big so we took home leftovers. However, we just had them, I had to cook extra meat to add to the Combo--and extra veggies to add to the salad. The rest is going in the garbage. The entire restaurant was clean and was very inviting! Chris and I were hungry so we placed our orders right away! I was very excited to see Quesa Birria in the menu, so of course I went for it. Dine in service on 3/24 @ 7:43 pm (check out time) S55.90 purchase. Taco plate with ground beef did not taste like real meat. Kiddos wouldn't eat it so we tried it too. Chimichanga had no flavor. Chicken nachos were exactly that (just chips and not even real cheese). No sour cream, tomatoes, jalapenos or guacamole. We ordered a side of grilled onions as well and received small/minced onions. This place was not at all what we expected it to be. We were there on business so happy to travel back to El Paso to get some REAL Mexican food. WAYYYY OVERPRICED for the quality of food that was served. Would NOT recommend. We left within 15 minutes (majority of food still on the table aside of the few bites that we took to taste the food) of our meal being served and met the waitress on our way out. Expressed dissatisfaction directly with the waitress. Waitress did absolutely nothing to try and make things right. I would be happy to send my receipt from this date of service to be reimbursed as we still had to eat dinner at another restaurant that evening. read more

Didn't even get to eating. It's a tuesday evening just barely after 5pm. The service was aweful. We came here after a FUNERAL and yes nobody called ahead that was on us. The problem is the lady in charge 1. Told my sister that her baby's stroller that she was in was a fire hazard and she gave her a hard time over it. She also told us that we had to fill each table one at a time. The other half of the room was completely EMPTY.(that was 2) 3. When my uncle tried to resolve things because she asked us how many people were coming and he told her about 25ish maybe 30 (again it was a funeral group) and she started getting heated with him and she was being so rude to us the second we walked in. 4. Great atmosphere, good service and the food look fantastic on our plates. Unfortunately that's were it ended. There just isn't much flavor in the food. I found everything to be very bland and without spice. Even the hot sauce had no bite to it. If you like mild, you'll love this place. If you want a little bite, spice or heat I sure did it find it. My wife ordered the sancho's. Good size stuffed with plenty of ground beef and covered in queso. It was great for my wife because she doesn't handle spice terribly well but I found the flavor boring. I had the combo of a bean tostada, beef taco and cheese enchilada. Nothing had any spice, heat or flavor. The taco was stuffed with a lot of ground beef, but no seasoning what-so-ever. The cheese enchilada looked fantastic, but it was only cheese wrapped in a tortilla covered with more melted cheese. No lettuce, no tomato, no sour cream and no flavor. Felipe's is definitely a restaurant that I crave! Their food is always consistent. I've tried many different items on their menu and everything is tasty. But my favorite is the cheese enchilada. Who knew a tortilla with block of cheese melted to their metal hot plate could be so addicting. Their fried flour tacos with salsa on top is the way to go. The hot salsa has the most flavor unlike their mild canned tomato tasting salsa. The food comes out fast, which is great for those who are on a time crunch. Prices are reasonable. Service is alway pretty spot on. The staff is usually pretty attentive and tend to bring extra items out before diners have to ask. read more

Their special Cazuela cocktail bowls are amazing! That 50 oz. tequila and other mix into this clay pot of ice and sliced fresh fruit all blended together just perfect! To add even more excitement, they even torched up a lemon peel and was lit blue while floating inside the alcohol still. The flavors came together so well and had a wonderful citrus bite. The drink itself is light tasting and isn't strong.. But a another bowl would buzz a person up! I'd def come back for another! These are bomb! Wish we had these back home in the Bay Area! read more

I hate posting a negative review.. but it was necessary in this case. Husband ordered the fajita chicken enchiladas and they were as tough as leather. The spinach queso was over taken by spinach that it was hard to eat. We came home and both of us felt ill. Our service was minimal as well. I'm very empathetic to restaurants and servers.. however I believe this server had more than his share of tables and it left him scrambling. While other servers only had a few tables and were taking great care of their tables. Sadly I'll never get my husband to go back. read more

Excellent food, at good prices. They are one of the few that serve hot and mild salsa. I love both, the hot has good spice and flavors while the mild is classic refreshing tomato blend. The chips are very fresh and just amazing. Everything everyone in my group always looks great. I am a sucker for their tamatias (I think?) And get them every time, either shrimp or chicken. The description of it says something that makes me think a classic cut up salsa but they are covered in a cream poblanos cilantro sauce. Amazing. They have plenty of options in their menu. Everyone loves their drinks! Nachos are to die for! Cheese baked on amazing chips with different toppings. So yummy. I could eat an order for dinner anytime myself. We did get the small one, so I could have! Service is great and friendly. Definitely a great place for anytime with anyone. Families, date, or lunch. Canned tomatoes are a trusty pantry staple in Brad S.'s cupboard. They're great in cooked applications, but they don't taste that great in raw applications. They're also not good when you process them, add too much dried basil, and call it a salsa. Felipe's has been around for forty years, and is obviously a family business, as evidenced by the ten year old child acting as a runner. Still, I was pretty disappointed with the Mexican Special (aka "especialidad de la casa") - chile verde with pork, served alongside beans rice, guacamole, and tortillas. The pork and chile was nice enough, but the tortillas gummy, boring rice, and tasteless beans topped with neon yellow cheese. I had no problems with the guacamole - too many places do little more than mash up an avocado, but there was a nice ratio of chopped tomato and onion in there to make me forget to ask why they felt the need to include it in this dish. I was uniformly unimpressed with my meal, but I noticed Felipe's had a pretty nice tequila selection. Maybe that's the key to enjoying the food. read more

The Lujano family works hard to make you feel like a family member. The food is somewhat varied for different flavors - be sure to ask for a recommendation!
