Unfortunately, the older white bedraggled store clerk decided the white woman who arrived after me, time was more valuable. So, the white store clerk began to ring up the white woman. Thereafter, I took my black self with my black dollars and departed the store. Now, I reside around the corner from Tango. For almost thirty years I've lived in Brooklyn Heights. I've always found Tango's bridge line clothing overpriced and as far as style underwhelming. I only shop there in a pinch. You are better off going across the street to Housing Works. A few seasons ago, I bought a Valentino Black label cocktail dress at Housing Works. Similarly, last spring, I purchased a fabulous 2ply silk Balenciaga aqua blue cocktail dress. There were several skirts I would have bought if they had had a couple of sizes like small, medium, and large. I could get them on but they would pull or snug. I don't pay money for anything unless it's a proper fit. I really wish they had a care tag or card for each clothing item. There are not any tags identifying what the material is. This makes for tricky washing or do I need to dry clean?

We went in, said hello, mentioned we were looking for Indian wedding clothes. When my husband found something he wanted to try, Ruchi responded and said "you cannot try that on. You said you are just looking, not buying right?" My husband responded by saying "How could I know if I'm buying something if I don't try it on?" She reiterated that since he had stated he was "just looking" that he would not be allowed to try any clothes on. At that point we realized we would not want to shop/buy anything there so we left the store. Thankfully, across the street at Vintage India a very nice young lady assisted us and we had great success in trying on/buying several outfits as was our goal. Ruchi could not have been more rude in response to our friendly hello. It was very upsetting and unexpected. Unclear if she was racist? We are Asian American...perhaps she dislikes Chinese people? Just bizarre and have never been treated so poorly before. We will never step back into this store again!
