The one he currently has is 5 years old and we purchased it in the Spring Training location for the Boston Red Sox in Ft. Myers, Florida. Without even looking for it while going through the Patriots gear my husband spotted a great ladies tank for me. This had been a constant online search for years and we gave up. It is hard going to a Pats game in Miami and enjoy watching them beat the Dolphins in a long sleeve shirt. The tank was $28.00 but the good news no tax on clothing in Massachusetts according to the guy that rang me up at the register. I look forward to wearing it while watching the games. Great store but you lose a star no Red Sox visor for hubby.

Although it's on the smaller side for an REI, it is bigger than it seems. They have decent selection of gear and brands - definitely all the essentials. You can order online as well to pick up at or ship to the store if a specific item is not available. I tend to utilize this if there is something specific (brand/color, etc) that I know I want and then it's super efficient to pick up. The staff is super nice and always happy to guide to the section you are looking for. They are also helpful if you are returning an item or exchanging and I love their commitment to sustainability in the community as well. I always see people down in the bike/repair area so that seems to be a super convenient option to have for a the cyclists in Boston. If you have an active lifestyle, this is the place for you to come on this side of the Charles River.

Once she found help for us, I asked if I could try a couple on too. I was told by the sales associate that only one person at a time can be helped. Fine. I waited for another 10 minutes for the other client to choose which glasses she would buy. The sales associate then told me she had to go help them at the register and needed to find the cases for the glasses too. Another 15 minutes went by. At that point I just left. They're clearly not interested in making a sale. Such a shame because before this lock up situation, I used to buy all my glasses from this location. Looks like I'll need to find another store.

I went into Champs out of convenience, since I go through DTX on my commute. A salesgirl asked me if I needed help, and I told her I was looking for wide sneakers. Of course, they didn't have any, but there were a couple styles that looked like they had a wide toebox, so I asked to try them on. The salesgirl brought out a pair and without asking, replaced the sockliner with a special insole. Had she asked, I would have told her that I have very high arches and can't use insoles in most shoes. But she didn't. And when I put the shoe on I was really confused until I figured out her switch. Since I didn't want the insoles, she started telling me about the most amazing socks in the world, that she loves (and wasn't wearing). Oh, and the shoe protector. You have to have the shoe protector to keep those sneakers clean. I decided to buy the sneakers and a couple pairs of socks, but the salesgirl looked horrified that I wasn't getting the protector. "You know, the netting will get all dirty and you can't get it clean, right?" she said. When I replied that they were for my commute and I didn't care her face was a mix of confused and grossed out. I had to return the shoes and was barely acknowledged. The music was WAY too loud and the store was really hot both times. Not to mention the overstocked salesfloor with no room to move around and the filthy floor itself. I really like the socks I got, but I'm not sure that I want to brave the store to get them again.
