I have been coming here for years- since our first dog Nemo. Over the years I have seen multiple vets and not just the Fryes. Overall I have been extremely satisfied and gotten the best care for my pets. I choose to drive to Alpha Vet because I trust them with my pets. The front office staff is awesome- they always have remembered my dogs names! I couldn't ask for better! We have gone to two other local vets over the Years and honestly, I would not for the live of my pets go back! Yes, it was that bad. I'm not gonna say over the years, there have not been a couple of vets at Alpha that have been the best- I learned quickly not to book appts with those 2( they aren't worth the practice anymore). Everyone has their own opinion when it's comes to the vet treating their pet... These are members of our Iran family and we only want the best for them... I love Alpha Vet. We have only gone to them for our fur baby cat, who is now 13 years old. Dr. Bruce Frey just performed surgery to remove a big cyst. Dr. Bruce Frey called me himself afterwards. I had an appointment for our dog to have her vaccinations. I had the appiontment for 1:20 pm. I checked in with the receptionist at 12:50. I saw other people come in and get called to be seen. After waiting for 49 minutes a girl behind the desk asked if i checked in. I told her yes with the other girl she then tells me that my appointment was for 6:20 not 1:20. So i then say why didn't the girl tell me this when i checked in? She said i dont know but your appointment is 6:20. The person that checked me in then says i didnt check you in and if i did i was on the phone. Sorry. You werent on the phone you asked me to weight my dog i told you her weight and told me to have a seat you would be with us shortly. Would i really check in 5 hours before an appointment? We had an appointment for our two dogs at 11:00 AM. They did not see us for an hour. It was a routine check up for both. When we got home I notice a charge on my bill that said " Government mandated pay raise" When I called about it they said they had to do this, Lol. This is a private company that gave its employees a pay raise and passed it on to all its customers. Then they have the nerve to call it a government mandate, Please they must think we are stupid. read more

Wanted to put our dog down in the comfort of our own home but said they wouldn't because we are not vaccinated.

I took two Pomeranians One 17 one 10 with diabetes , collapsing trachea and Cushing Dr Latuda did a good job with these animals although her and I had a not so good relationship as I was trying to sue Harleysville for misdiagnosing another dog witch caused her to suffer and ultimately caused her death Dr Latuda went over health records I supplied and said she was never tested for said disease . When the state vet commission called her she said she would not testify witch she told me But I would expect her to tell them what she told me that no tests were done by harleysville vet She bad mouthed me and squashed the investigation I've never thought about suing anyone I only wanted to stop other pets from suffering I spent 4700 at Metro trying to save her Dr Latuda must of spoken to Harleysville because I doubled insulin prescribed by harleysville within a couple months and Dr Latuda reduced it after I taken a dog for glucose curve to her I told her he did not eat his breakfast and I thought test would be useless At any rate She still wanted to proceed and dropped his insulin to a lower rate than Harleysville After a week back home I realized he needed more insulin as I had a years experience with his condition and did so She wanted me to come back in a week and have him tested again I called and said he was fine After her badmouthing me to state vet association I've decided She is not looking out for best interest of me due to the fact she won't tell the truth about what she read in health records In her defense she was never nice to me and said she wasn't looking for new clients but did see mine I believe she believes I'm someone trying to just sue Concludng In good faith I cannot use her services any longer as I feel she can be compromised This is only my oppinion Once again in her defense I do believe she is a fair vet other than her alliance to other vets she will allow other vet clinics make mistakes and say nothing on record I feel that's against the oath of a vet that companions health is the most important thing above all else All in all she did what she thought was best for my companions even thinking I am a sure and let me know as much telling me I would have to sign waver before taking rotten teeth out I have never sued anyone and only believe Dr Lukof at Harleysville should pay the 4700 instead of telling me FU sue me A simple appology would of sufficed It's a shame that pets have no rights Someone must change these laws and I do intend to find a way to do just that but with no help from Mary Latuda whom knows the facts of misdiagnoses and suffering of Baba With everything being said I wouldn't take a dead dog to her and my aging and sick dogs are without a vet But I will remedy that Thankyou for reading and I am not trying to make choices fo anyone Scott Zimmerman read more

Im going with a 3-star for one reason. They lost my pets records! I suppose it may not technically be their fault, but it still just seemed really obscure (who hacks a vets pet records!!). That is what they told me, something to the effect of someone hacked their system and held their records at ransom. I feel bad writing this review because prior to that experience I was always treated well and with a smile for all of my animals for many years. I just couldn't get over how unprofessional it was that they did not have hard copy records/ and or some sort of hard drive back-up. Hope this place recovers from this mess read more

Had my boxer there for a operation to remove a mass, the suturing looked like a child did it, then after 6 weeks it didn't heal close because the spacing was to wide it was redone again. No transfusion for the large mass, but should have been. Long story short a year later she had a eye infection which a brand new vet straight out of school prescribed antibiotic cream for her eye, then it took 6 weeks to get rid of eye infection. Should have done blood work then to find the underlying problem. Then 4 months later she started collapsing and was diagnosed with severe anemia, told me to take her to red bank hospital. 5k and a blood transfusion later nothing was helping her. A few days from putting her out of her suffering I found online vet classic blood and energy supplements which saved her life! We now have a different vet who is much more involved and doesn't put green vets right out of school with no supervision in on there own. Needless to say the green vet only stayed a couple months and left. Yes this practice is not what it once was with the main Dr. Leaving for the northwest. To many patients, I have moved on to a better practice. Cannot recommend alpha. read more

In my opinion you are the worst veterinarians around. You gave my dog a steroid which caused the Cushing's disease . I spent over $10,000 trying desperately to save my dog, but she died anyway . I started doing research after she died, and saw that prednisone can trigger steroid mediated Cushing's disease . I only wish I could have your licenses revoked . I repeatedly brought back my dog, and you told me everytime it would be okay . but it wasn't . You killed my dog and you know it . Of course these are just allegations, but don't think its the end. I will not rest until your license is revoked . You are just too young and inexperienced to be working without an experienced vet looking over you. You totally misdiagnosed her condition and should have been looking for it . read more

I never had animals of my own until this past year... and I recently moved to the area and heard that alpha vet is the best around, and maybe it was in the past, but definitely not anymore. What I really don't like is how they mislead you with their prices. They tell you one price over the phone, another when you drop off your animal, and then when it's time to pay the price is completely different-and much higher than anticipated. Some of the receptionists are really rude as well- and you always have to wait atleast 20-30 minutes to be seen. As far as the actual veterinary sevice goes, I can't complain.. they treated all of my animals wonderfully. read more

Horrible! Ever since Dr. Carpenter left the practice it has gone down hill. Twice I took my dog there & they didn't know what was wrong. Went to another vet & had a better explanation. When I called them to ask why my dog was not diagnosed correctly & that I went to another vet they wanted to know why I went elsewhere. Duh....you didn't diagnose her two times! I took my dog to Sandy 4 times complaing that she was not right. The 4th time she finally took blood be for sending me home. The tests showed that she was dying. She was there for 3 days before she finally died. Throughout the ordeal the staff was rude, demostrated no caring or compassion. Sandy and her staff only showed impatience at my presence there. Why did it take so long to do the tests? Then they tried to send my dog home to dye with an I.V. site that was infiltratedinfiltrated. When she died Bruce finally said how sorry he was. The never took any accountability for not testing her sooner. I will never forget how unkind Sandy and her staff were to me, my family including my dog. I wish these people the same suffering the caused us and our beautiful dog. To end our ordeal, they handed me her ashes like handing me a pair of old shoes. Minus 10 stars read more

I have been going to alpha vet for the past 6 years with my dog, it's a lot cheaper than some of the other vets around. I would typically recommend this vet to friends but after my last experience I will not come back. Dr. Frey (the owner) is awful. My dog came in with an ear infection he looked at his ear said it was fine I argued that it wasn't he's been shaking his head and it was red. He gave me diff meds and a week of antibiotics. When I showed him a hot spot on his leg he told me to "just put the ear drops on the hotspot" then asked if there is anything else because he has a sick dog next door he has to deal with. It's been five days and my dogs ear is red and inflamed I now have to take him back to a vet and pay more money. If he would have taken the time, cultured his ear and leg maybe we could have got the right treatment. And on top of it make me feel like we were not as important as the dog next door. Maybe we weren't, but you do not say that to a customer. I also had a terrible experience with his wife. If you lack customer service skills or compassion than maybe he should retire. read more

I had issues with this place two weeks in a row. Last week we had an appointment at 3:20 and was not seen for at least an hour. Dr. Leon, who is probably the best doctor there, did the shots my cats needed (which took 15-20 minutes) and then I checked out and they screwed up the certificate for the rabies shot. Sat there for 30 minutes. Today, I took my cat to get fixed and a few additional shots and the secretaries incorrectly labeled my $40 dollar carrier and gave it to someone else. I am now waiting for a call so I can get my carrier back. Honestly, a two year old could be a better secretary. read more

I stopped going there several years ago, when both Dr Freys were on call, but neither one could see my sick pet until after 8:00pm, (it was 5:30 pm) because they were both at their son's baseball game, and left no other vet on call for emergencies. I also found out from my current vet, that my cat did not have any issues with crystals in his urine yet Dr Frey placed him on special food for it anyway, because of one urinary tract infection that showed no evidence of crystals in his urine. So glad I left this group. However, I do have to say Dr. Carpenter was an excellent vet. read more

My dog gas been a client there since I first got her. She suddenly took I'll when we were away. I sought emergency treatment to get her stable and able to come home. I was having the revords sent right to alpha, after all, I consider them our regular vet. I call to tell them what's going on and to get an appointment and I am told they are too booked to see a sick dog, They can refer me to another vet. WHAT? Well it seems they no longer care. Three Stars- consider this for the 3 times I've been there the vet was awesome with my cat. The vets there are awesome- funny and make you feel comfortable and they dote on your pets. Now, the reception- I get you are busy, I really get it, animals coming in and out and all....but the service you get when you call to make an appointment, it's just rude! I called to make an appointment for anytime after 4 and they would only give me a 1:30---Sorry? I work. My husband works. Then I told them my situation and I literally got SCOFFED AT and in a polite aggressive way asked a question regarding my situation! Not to mention I got LAUGHED AT for asking if I could be seen that day when I said "Is there any possible way I could be seen today?" I've never owned my own pets, my husband has, so visiting vets is still new to me, but come on, if you want people to trust you with your fur babies, try and make an attempt to be pleasant....If I wanted to talk on the phone with someone and get an attitude, I'd talk to a snarky teenager. read more

The only reason I'm giving it a star is because I have to, I would strongly advise you to reconsider bringing your pet here. First off I waited over an hour past my appointment time, which gets annoying when you see walk ins being taken before you. I found my vet to be very unprofessional, when she took a biopsy of my dogs growth on his ear she proceeded to tell me three different types of cancer it could be, along with somehow getting blood from the needle on my boyfriends shirt. Not only did she have running through my head it could be these different types of cancer but she told me to expect a call in 3 to 5 days if I did not hear back "they forgot to call me and I should call". I've never heard that EVER in my life. However they did call me to tell me it was a benign cyst, which I was extremely happy to hear. But finding out they wanted me to pay $600 to put my dog fully under for surgery wasn't what I wanted to hear when the cyst looked like a skin tag hanging off his ear by a thread, along with needing another biopsy, that somehow was costing almost double what the first one cost me. This didn't sit right with me so I went to get a second opinion. The new vet wanted the biopsy information so when they called in to get the results alpha vet told them their system was hacked last October and they have no record of me or my pup being there. Then I called in and she asked me when I took my dog for his visit when I told her may she then said around Mother's Day their system got hacked, so clearly this was all I lie. Eventually they "found" the information (after calling multiple times with no call back) and were able to fax it to the new vet. The vet tied a string around the cyst and it fell off a week later....$60 dollars later, with a savings of $540 for making the right choice of getting a second opinion. I would never recommend anyone to take their fur baby here! read more

I am never compelled to write reviews but for Alpha, after reading the prior two reviews I feel it is necessary. I have two Italian Greyhounds whom I have taken to various vets over the years and have been totally satisfied with the care they have received at Alpha. I have found and witnessed the staff to be courteous and compassionate. As for pricing, Alpha has been the only vet that I have NOT felt as if I was being taking advantage of; especially for major issues. Alpha is 20mi from my home but feel the travel is worth it. read more

Usually I would give this vet a 4 or 5 star rating but today I'm giving them a 1. My dog has been uncontrollably throwing up and he can't keep anything down. I made an appointment for the vet and saw Bruce Frey ( the owner). Everything seemed to start off well and everything was going pretty decent until it was time to administer medicine. He prescribed 3 shots and medicine, he said 2 of the shots wouldn't hurt but the 3rd one will sting. He administers one shot and then throws the needle across the room. As he administers the second shot my dog yelped and the needle popped out of him. Frey decided to go get another needle to try and stick him again. Frey takes the other medicine that does not sting and administers that to my dog with little issues. For a second attempt Frey takes the new needle of the stinging medicine and pricks the dog again and the dog yelps and the needle falls to the floor and Frye begins to get frustrated. He goes and gets another needle and tries to stick him again. This time he forcefully grabbed my dogs neck and started pushing his throat into my leg. I began to say " whoa don't do that I have him." He did not listen and stuck the dog anyway. The needle broke again, medicine went flying everywhere and into my mouth. Frey went back for a 4th needle visibly upset and frustrated. I told him he wasn't sticking my dog again that another doctor needs to do it. He proceeded to tell me he should of taken the dog in the back, and the reason for the shots, and also he kept apologizing during his explanations. Frye left the room and went to get medicine for my dog, he came back I grabbed the medicine listened to the explanation on how to administer them and went to checkout. I was told the charges were 210 dollars. For what I went through I don't believe I should of been charged that much. The receptionist went back to talk to Frey, his response was that's the charges for the visit I can take the medicine if I want. The receptionist said he's the owner there's not much I can do. So basically since you're the owner of an establishment you can do whatever you want whenever you want. By the time I got home my dog is worse then when he went into the vet, the vomiting had gotten worse and he is more lethargic. Time to change vets! read more

I am very disappointed. I have had cats all my life so I know a few things ... We took our 14 year old cat there because she was wheezing. The first doctor said she was fine. Didn't do an xray, just pulled some blood. We took her back and had one of the owners. We told her what was happening. She took an xray and sonogram. Nothing, but the cats white blood cell count was high. We asked her to sedate her and look down her throat. For reasons unknown to me, she refused to do this. The cat wasn't getting better - she was getting worse. I called, and was told to just keep her on antibiotics. Finally we called again and the cat was prescribed steroids. The cat kept getting worse till the point where she couldn't breath. We rushed her to Crown Veterinary in Lebanon and that doctor looked at her for 5 minutes and knew she needed to be sedated and look down her throat. She had a large mass on her vocal cord that was malignant. Nothing could be done for her and we put her to sleep. If she had done as we asked and looked down her throat we would not have had to upset the cat shoving steroids and antibiotics down her throat till the point she was hiding from us. I blame myself for not taking the cat elsewhere when she refused to look. We still don't know why she wouldn't do it, and we're not going to find out because I am not taking my other two cats back there. I prefer a doctor who pursues a diagnosis aggressively. Not the wait and see approach. The last two weeks of our cat's life were spent running back and forth to Alpha and being medicated for no reason. She deserved better than that. read more

They've been my vets since the practice opened. I'm going for 3 stars instead of higher because I have noticed a difference. It's tragic to see so many terrible reviews by people who had awful experiences. I loved Dr. Carpenter and was sad to see she wasn't there any longer. My 16 yr old cat got extremely sick with kidney failure. The newer doctor, Nicole Lewis, was as sweet as could be. I have always been worried about vets because like someone's story in these reviews, we once had a family cat accidentally killed by an inexperienced vet who gave him too much anesthesia. I'm sorry to whoever that was that said Dr. Lewis accidentally killed their kitty with too much medicine. All I can say is, my personal experience which was a Tuesday through Friday of taking care of my sick cat - Dr. Lewis was great. She called me every day and I went to visit every day. She tried to personally hand feed my old girl to get some food into her, but we had to make the call that she was getting worse and let her go. She gave my girl the injections while I held her on my lap. Short of a house call, my cat's time with Dr. Lewis was caring and loving. Plus she handled my crying pretty well too. I don't think all of the staff is that nice to be honest; some of them come off cold, but everyone has a bad day so who knows. Although my parents took their new kitten in with a broken toe and whoever helped them practically accused them of abusing the cat saying he must've been stepped on. He's the biggest troublemaking cat I've ever had and into everything. He's the type of cat to hurt himself by sticking an arm into a hole in the floor and getting stuck. In fact, 2 minutes ago the little demon knocked over a big milk crate and spilled all the contents. read more

First off, whoever the young girl working the front desk is...SHOULD BE FIRED!!!!!!!! the vet seemed high and was carless with my dog when administering his shots , the "new" vet just didn't do anything right except when trying to sell their over priced food , that he suggested for my dogs dry skin , I bought science diet with the same ingredients and my dogs skin only worsened , the follow up visit was just more disappointment , again he seemed high as a kite and was just not good with my dog , he was afraid even though my dog was muzzled and even stared him down to antagonize him . so take your cats and toy breeds and pay insane prices to a vet clinic that takes your money as your pets get worse. all 1 stars exept the last one and I bet they did that them selves read more

After the way I was treated there tonight I will never return. I made an appt for my dogs ears, and while we were there I figured we'd get one of her shots. When making the appt I was told they would clean her ears as well as show me how to do it. Which would be a tech appt. Well the tech gives my dog her shot then tells me I have to come back to see a doctor for her ears. I explained her ears were the main reason I brought her tonight. That she is so uncomfortable. If she can at least show me how to clean her ears. She said there weren't any exam rooms available. (I could've waited for one to open up). I told her I would've never made 2 appts and this was a wasted trip. She says no it wasn't, she still got the shot. My dog didn't need the shot right away. She yells "I'm done" and walked away from me. My favorite Dr. is leaving. And now there really isn't any reason for me to return. And I won't be. read more
