It's a type of cocktail bar that definitely seems like it belongs in LA or NYC. It's a small spot, but there is about a 10 person bar, couches and lounge seating inside and then there are some tables out on the smaller back patio. It's also located above a very cool boutique outdoor store and there is a hostel located in the same building that partners to do boundary water trips, which is so fun. The cocktails are all unique, come in fun cups, and there is a large selection of items - so something for everybody. It's fun to watch the bartender make all the various craft cocktails and it keeps everything interactive and fun. I've tried a few different cocktails as I like to get something different each time and they always hit. We all enjoyed our drinks and sitting on the cozy couches, relaxing, and taking our time chatting. We ordered the stop and smell the flowers (it had chartreuse in it, which is very hard to come by in this day and after speaking with the bartender, he said that they have actually two bottles at a time each month, which is very impressive!), zero Italian spritz, and the jungle bird.

Honestly, they've been there so much for me in the past (when no one else was there, they were) that any one of them could ask me to help them move a heavy ass hot tub, and I would in a heartbeat. The owner, Cade, is THE shit. Just look for the tall guy with the sweet hair and badass button up shirt and you'll know him when you see him. Best part is because he's so cool, all the people he hires to work for him are cool, thus the people that frequent there are cool, so by going there YOU are COOL by association. It's like one big cool club and everyone's invited. The amount of romances and babies that have resulted from ACES ON FIRST is probably what keeps the population of Duluth above the 2.1 children-per-woman needed to prevent a society's extinction. Had me twirling like I was auditioning for RuPaul's Drag Race. The energy? So high I nearly ascended. But then--cue dramatic music--came the bartender. Miss Thing was serving cold stares and lukewarm drinks like it was her personal protest against happiness. I asked for a vodka soda, not a vibe check. Sis, it's Pride. We're here to celebrate, not survive emotional warfare at the bar. Still, the night was a glittery dream and the people were pure magic. We've always ordered their Old Fashioned, so tonight was no exception. I wasn't too fond of the bourbon used but the drink was well made and was on a nice big ice cube. The vibe here is "speakeasy" in my opinion. Each time we've been here, there's only one person working and he stays busy. But he is very efficient, so we've never waited long for our drinks. One room here has a small stage and PA setup. We've never been here when they had entertainment. But they always have music on in the background for ambiance.
