I ordered a Jucy Lucy which was really large, but also bland, unseasoned, nor char, and all the cheese had escaped before it made it to my plate. Tater Tot's were a bit over cooked. Walleye strips had nice fish, but a too dense, heavy and greasy of a batter coating left the fish fighting for a bit of love. Walleye sandwich was made with breaded and fried walleye vs batter and was much better. Chicken wings were the best item we ordered. This was our final stop on our weekend get-a-way last weekend. This place had high ratings, so our expectations were very high! The one thing I did not see in the ratings was the high cost! Plan on spending some dough at this place if you order the upcharge items like French fries, etc The place was extremely busy! When a table opened up it was quickly filled. They were okay but I certainly would not pay the price again. They did however serve them properly with marinara sauce instead of ranch! Ranch was available upon request but why? I ordered the Cowboy burger and my wife ordered the walleye sandwich. The burger was very good, and the size matched the value. The walleye sandwich had good flavor and was full of bones, so we knew it was legit! All burgers and sandwich come with chips (from a bag) or for an upcharge, fries, rings, tots and more. I chose the Fries, and my wife just ordered the chips. The Fries were very good and tasted like they were double fried. They would have really rocked if Heinz ketchup was on the table. Appetizers: Fried Pickles- Portion was huge. It was a little disappointing because the batter was not crispy at all. It's not your typical fried pickles. 2/5 Brussels sprout with bacon - first thought when ordering this was my friends wanted Brussels sprout for appetizer? But it was really good. Got in to Carlton to set up camp for the Memorial Day Weekend. This place was recommended by the campground. That was a good call. We were seated and were able to order just before the grilled closed die the evening. Wife and son had their burgers (menu said they're fresh in-house made). 3oz patty on a fresh brioche bun. They both really enjoyed (sorry no pics). I had the pub steak. 8oz sirloin butterflied, and pounded thin made a wonderfully tender and flavorful steak. And the loaded baker? Full of real bacon (no fake imitation bacon bits here. Also, melted cheese on top, plus a side of sour cream and butter. Great pairing with the steak. Also, they have a serious bar and know how to make a cocktail. I had a bourbon sour make with St Paul bourbon while the wife had a Moscow mule. They know how to pour. This place is in the heart of Carlton. They have good food and drink with TVs and a nice patio. We have been here several times and we continue to come back. They have a nice patio also. They are only a couple miles from Jay Cooke State Park. They had plenty of hand sanitation stations and they used masks. Definitely worth stopping if you are visiting Jay Cook State Park. There's a nice bar with a solid selection of Minnesota craft beers, sharp decor with ample indoor and outdoor seating, and a great menu. I'll admit that spending all week in the woods prior to our lunch visit may be a factor, but my burger was one of the best I've tasted (The Big Dam Burger). I see all the positive reviews and realize I must have just been there on a bad night but still felt it was important to share. I went on Wednesday June 21st and had some of the worst service ever. The server's grandkids were seated at the table behind me and she spent more time visiting with them then ever coming to my table. After I got my menu it took at least 15 minutes for her to come back and take my order. Keep in mind the restaurant was about 50% empty so it definitely wasn't busy. I ordered a cocktail, the walleye wild rice burger, and fries. 20 minutes go by and I watch her visit her grandkids(walking by me each time) at least 4 times, clear tables, get herself something to drink, etc. and I never end up getting the drink I ordered. Food came out and the walleye wild rice burger was flavorless and the fries tasted like fried fish foods(warning for anyone who might have a seafood allergy as they must use the same fryer). I finally am able to get my check and the server again is too busy with her grandkids to grab my card and ring me up so I can finally leave. She even takes one behind the bar with her while the other goes with dad to the bathroom. All while passing my card sitting at the edge of my table another half dozen times. My water had also sat empty most of this time and was never refilled once. I travel alone a lot, I've put in 7,500 miles in the last 6 weeks and eaten out most of the meals and this was unfortunately the worst service I have gotten everywhere I have been. read more

I liked it, but I just wasn't THAT into it. On our way north we stopped for lunch. They've got a patio, it's sort of dog friendly. Our dogs couldn't be on the patio, but we could tie them to the railing on the outside which worked great. They could see us, were inches apart from us, but left us the hell alone with the railings between us. For lunch we had a couple of beers off of their fantastic beer menu, the nuclear wings, and the walleye burger. Wings had a nice kick to them, but weren't anything special. Walleye burger was enjoyable, but I liked the buttery bun more than the actual burger itself. I thought the patty lacked salt, sightly dry, and was bordering on cardboardish. When eaten with all of the components it was good. The pickles were an absolute must for saltiness and tanginess. If I didn't like pickles I'd hate this burger for sure. Fries were battered so of course they were delicious. Service was excellent. We were the only diners on the patio and service was still attentive and fast. I was not in the mood for breakfast food and that's all they were serving--but luckily, they had a Santa Fe bowl on the menu that was 1. vegetarian and 2. healthy! It came with black beans, wild rice, red pepper, eggs, etc--I paid extra for gauc. It was really good, but could have used a bit more seasoning. My husband and I stopped for lunch yesterday and we sat at a small table on the bar side. Our napkins weren't stocked and we wound up having to nab some ketchup and salt from another table as ours only had pepper and mustard. I ordered the walleye basket and my husband did the chicken paddle basket. I was surprised when our food got there as both the chicken strips and walleye only had three small strips in each basket. The walleye was good. It was flaky and had great flavor, and the beer batter was perfectly crispy, but I was sorely disappointed that I felt we were mainly paying for the fries. The french fries were crispy but had no seasoning. The Streetcar has always been a favorite of my in-laws and husband so it was hard seeing him disappointed.
