Scheduled to leave my 4 year old german shepherd here for 10 days, brought him in for the consulation and was told he would be a good fit. Brought him in two more times for quick day care to make sure he and the staff were comfortable. Everything seemed to be a good fit and he would be in good hands for his extended stay while I flew back east. Received updates nearly everyday about his stay which was great. But mid way through his stay I was told that a dog attacked him and bit off part of his ear. I got confusing information about if he was going to get to see a vet due to the bleeding. He did not get taken to a vet nor did one come, and after this I only received an update the day after. The next 3 days I heard nothing, I sent a few text messages and called but didn't hear back until the day before I was scheduled to pick him up. When I picked him up he seemed to be ok, I didn't get much of an explanation of what happened and why a dog attacked him. I immediately took him to get a bath and this is where I found a gash under his left eye, an open bite wound inside his other ear and two teeth marks on his left rib cage. When I called the staff back they had "no idea" about these other injuries and then wanted to play it off like it wasn't that big of a deal. It was if they wanted to argue with me about the severity of his injuries and that I was overreacting. I've taken Odin to many kennels and never has he come back with a single Injury let alone 4. It is apparent that they weee unable to keep my dog safe which is the whole point of paying so much for his care. I won't be taking him back here, ever. read more

My pup spends a day or two a week with the Alpine Canine crew, hiking and playing with other pups! The staff is so caring and open. I also use Alpine for boarding if I have to leave town. We recently set up an appointment with Alpine Canine to have our dog's temperament evaluation. The online system and communication we received prior to our appointment was good. However, when we showed up for our appointment, it seemed as though they were not prepared for our arrival. The front of office employee who was there was kind. They did not speak, not out of rudeness but I don't know if they were able to, and wrote down questions asking about his temperament and how he was with others on a piece of paper then listened to our responses. They were very sweet to our pup and welcoming. I do not know if they are required to or not but our vaccination records were also not checked at this time even though we were told to bring them. After an hour we returned to see our pup sitting under a sunshade in the yard. He did not appear distressed but was panting. It was 93 degrees outside. When we went inside there were two more employees in addition to the previous employee. The original employee went to get our dog. While out, the other employees asked why we were there and if we had a credit card on file. We explained we were there for the temperament evaluation to which they said OK. After we got our pup back, they said we could leave. I asked how our dog did and if he had any issues. They gave a vague response about how he struggled initially but eventually was OK. We then left. There was no asking if we had questions, further explanations, or even a see you next time. Once we were in the car and driving home, I noticed that our dog was very hot. His paws were warm to the touch and he would not stop panting. His saliva was very thick as well. He also smelled like urine on his fur. When we arrived home, he immediately went to drink water and drank almost a whole bowl. He then struggled to cool down for about 45 minutes. Overall, I have both positives and negatives for my experience with Alpine Canine. I was pleased with the initial front desk employee who, despite a communication barrier, made us feel comfortable and welcome while also being kind to our dog. I also appreciated their online/digital communication. On the negative side of things, I did not appreciate their customer service when picking up our dog. The lack of asking if we had questions, providing information, and general confusion about why we were there/what was happening was disconcerting. Additionally, I did not like the "evaluation." Based off of how hot our dog was and the vague explanation of his experience/behavior there, I don't believe any evaluation actually took place aside from making sure he didn't fight anyone. Finally, I don't know if this was just a fluke but with the rates for puppy and dog related illness at boarding and daycare locations, I do think that checking vaccinations should be done for each and every animal to ensure safety. Edit: Only a few hours after posting this, Alpine contacted me and we had a very good candid conversation about my experience. She was very kind and said that she was not present when this happened but will be using it for training purposes. I do appreciate her contacting me as well as how she wanted to make things right because she genuinely cares. I will be adding a star to my review for this which changes it from 2/5 stars to 3/5. read more

I left my one year old German Shepherd there for a week while I was on vacation. Prior to that she passed their test and she participated in daycare, and one night stay which went well. I dropped her off on Wednesday the 17th, I asked the two young people working that day to please let me know how she is settling in, the young man, Zack told me to contact them if I didn't hear from them. So I called to check in on her the 19th or 20th. I spoke to Zack over the phone who told me Heidi ripped her nail to the quick, but they were taking care of it. He told me he put something between her kennel and the other dog for some reason and she got her nail caught. He made it sound like it wasn't a big deal. She is a gentle soul. On my way back from my trip, I called a couple of times to let them know I was trying to get there to pick Heidi up before they closed at 6:00. They did not answer the phone, but I was too late to pick her up. The next day when I picked Heidi up the young lady greeted me and I asked her about how come no one answered the phone when I called about 5:00 several times, I was told they rarely answer the phone after 5:00. Why not, they close at 6:00, how does an owner let them know they will be there by 6:00 to pick up their beloved pet when they do not answer the phone. I then asked her to clarify how Heidi got hurt, she told me she didn't know anything about putting something in the kennel to separate the two dogs who were in their own separate kennels, to me that was a red flag getting two stories. I was confused. Then Zack brought Heidi out to me, and he told me her nail injury was nothing and she was "a drama queen." I didn't like his ignorant comment. It wasn't until I got her home and took a close look at her nail, that I saw the awful deep slice in her pad. It was not her nail at all, it was much more than a simple nail injury. I called my veterinarian who got her in immediately, she cleaned the wound, dressed it, wrapped it, and gave her pain medications and an antibiotic for the infection. She could not stitch it up because there was no flesh to stitch it to. She had to keep it wrapped for several days and wear a cone for two weeks. This was a very serious wound and I don't take lightly how Zack brushed it off as nothing. I'd like to slice his hand and see how he whines! I wrote to the owners to let them know what happened, it's been over a month now and they have not responded to my letter. Staff did not email or call me to check up on Heidi either. Their lack of action tells me they only care about the money. I will not ever take Heidi there again. Be careful people, things are not always what they seem. read more

Had my two dogs boarded there for 6 days. On their website it claims $60 boarding fee for two dogs ("Day camp rates apply after 24 hours") with the day camp rate being $40 for two dogs. However, I was charged 60 dollars EVERY DAY. I was also double charged $15 for a half day fee, making that $30. The lady working even said that was wrong, but I have yet to receive a refund. Was told I would receive a call from them, no call. I was advised to "talk to the owner" that's never there when I show up, convenient. I will be having a professional look into the jargon on their website due to FALSE ADVERTISING. My advice: Take your dogs somewhere else. read more

Found this place through my mother who lives in Missoula. We took our two dogs here when we visited from California for an overnight stay while we attended a wedding reception. I was very impressed with how clean and organized it was. It didn't smell like a dog kennel and was very sanitary. The owner was so nice and kind to our traveling situation and let us linger a while to watch the dogs interact before we left. They even texted us photos later of our dogs hanging out, which was so nice to see. I highly recommend this place when in Missoula!!! read more

We were new to the area and had to go out of town un expectedly. We found this facility and did a drop by interview and visit. They were friendly and the place seemed clean and organized. We had to leave our animal for almost 12 days. When we picked him up he had an eye infection and ear infection, he had multiple bite marks and he was physically exhausted. I would recommend them for a day maybe two if your dog is use to a chaotic stressful environment, but long stays I will not do again. read more

I would leave them zero stars if I could. I would encourage anyone who cares about their dog(s) and who values customer service to steer clear of this terrible place. We left our dogs there for a long weekend in June. When we picked our dogs up, one was clearly in pain and distressed. He was crying and nipping at his underside. Upon inspecting him, he had gaping, oozing wounds under his chest and armpits. The staff working at the front refused to acknowledge our dog was injured yet alone offer an apology or any kind of compassion and kept insisting we'd have to take it up with the owner. I called repeatedly for the following week and every single time I got through, a staff member told me the owner was too busy, "was in meeting all day long," and probably would NOT return my call. I was treated with disdain and cruelty. No one showed an ounce of compassion for the fact that my dog was not only injured but then neglected under their care. The owner finally returned my phone call about a week later, and, as I would hope an owner would be, was very kind and understanding and took full responsibility for the fact that our dog was injured and neglected while under their care. He told me he would like to repair our relationship, and offered to start by refunding our weekend stay and the cost of our subsequent vet bills. He acknowledged that a staff had been neglecting and forging daily "medical checks" for the dogs which is how our dog's injuries and behaviors went by unnoticed. He stated he would call me again the following week after investigating the incident further. It is now mid-August, and I never received any follow up phone call from this owner, even after calling and texting multiple times throughout the last 2 months. We have yet to receive any reimbursement as promised by the owner. I can basically come to assume that the owner simply doesn't care at all about dogs' wellbeing, maintaining a loyal customer base, and providing ethical business. I am certain his "kind" phone call with me was simply an act to appease me and he never had a single intention of making this right. If you care about your dog at all, and if you have any desire to work with an honest, compassionate, and ethical business in town, this is NOT one of them. I implore you to find another place to entrust your fur-babies to, one where they will be well-cared for & looked after with individual care, and where you will be treated with respect and integrity. read more
