I would not recommend any of Alpine Foreign Repair's services. I took my Audi in for a simple oil change and transmission check. The first red flag was that the receipt I was given before payment was an un-itemized, handwritten note. A few weeks later, my car's check engine light came on. When I took it back to Alpine Foreign Repair, they confirmed that they had put over a quart of excess oil in the car. The excess oil had foamed over and was preventing the camshaft from rotating at the right speed, and the oil had dripped on the engine in several places. With all the 5 star reviews this shop has, I expected this to be fixed quickly. Unfortunately, they treated the situation as a huge inconvenience. They were unsure of what exactly was done on the car; the services to my car weren't in the system, and the handwritten receipt didn't provide enough info to understand what oil or how much was put in the car. No responsibility taken, no apology, no info on what had happened, just a quick drain of the oil and told me to have a good day. I asked if this would fix the check engine light being on, and mentioned my concerns with the issues the excess oil had caused. They assured me that the issues I had were completely unrelated to the excess oil, but if the issue did persist, it'd be a $1600 fix. The local dealership had quoted me $600 for a fix in the worst case scenario, so this absurdly large quote didn't make any sense. I realized the shop had no interest in fixing the mistake they made, and took my car to another nearby shop for a second opinion. The other shop flushed the oil and, before they could turn the check engine light off, it turned off on its own. The overfill was absolutely the cause, and I haven't had issues since. I'm shocked that a shop claiming to specialize in European cars messed up something as basic as an Audi oil change. Looking at the age of most of these positive reviews, my guess is that management or technicians have changed recently, and standards have dropped. Mistakes happen, but their complete unwillingness to provide restitution or honest service is disappointing. If you're reading Yelp reviews like I was to try and see if this shop is right for your car, service, and budget, I would advise to stay away. I grew up with Audis and Alpine has been my go-to! Wendell and Joe have always been honest, trustworthy and they've never tried to sell me services I didn't need. They kept my old 2005 A4 in great shape & I only just sold it. Still going to them for my Q5. They are kind, affable, and they know their stuff. The value is unbeatable. Finding good mechanics who work on audi/vw in Utah that don't price gouge is everything. I truly cannot say enough good things about them... down to the fact that my only reason for hesitating on going from Audi to a Porsche was because they don't work on Porsches. Affordable and HONEST foreign car repair. Don't expect an espresso or glass of champagne, like what I've gotten at Audi or BMW dealerships. This is a humble, yet hard working auto shop, that focuses on actual car repairs, not the bougie bs, that the fancier dealerships offer. They mostly work on Audis, VWs, Porsches, etc. They are so great, I can't emphasize this enough! They actually CHECK the vehicle, because unlike the actual Audi dealership, those guys just run everything through the basic computer diagnostics and give you an astronomical estimate. Alpine won't! They might take a few days, but they'll find the actual source of the problem and give you a FAIR price! They also have tons of parts, in house, so you won't have to wait forever, for a special part! I love these guys, they're so humble and great, that I've recommended them to complete strangers, because I tend to keep my car immaculately clean, that people constantly come up to me, for advice. I took the car in with a MIL fault light. For $1,300 they replaced the injectors and intake manifold. These items were the subject of an Audi recall and these guys knew it, but didn't tell me because Audi would only cover authorized dealer repairs. Their prices are very fair, they are honest and will not try to sell you anything unnecessary and will also tell you honestly when things need to be repaired or how long you can wait. They understand budgets (even when others assume all Audi owners are loaded). They are very talented at what they do - quality work, quality service, for minimal cost. On the repair I had done today, they saved me $150 bucks over another repair shop which typically has very low prices. On top of that, they fixed a couple of small things on my car for free! I have to say I was impressed. I had my car there when they asked and it came back an hour before they told me it would be done. The price was what they told me it would be and the car came back with no oil on the shifter or steering wheel. Recently took my car in for leaky water pump, the shop recommended a replacement of the hydraulic tensioner, pulleys, belts and etc , but I just opted for only the water pump replacement. On the recommendation of a Salt Lake native, I started taking my A4 here shortly after moving to this most beautiful part of the planet (in spite of the terrible air quality...) - that was about 4 year ago, once the warranty wore off. I've never even thought about going anywhere else ever since. The plaques on the wall showing many years of outstanding service at the local Audi Dealer were an encouraging start. Never once has Wendell or any of his team tried to sell me something I haven't asked for. On several occassions I've pretty much given them carte blanche to take me to the cleaners - not once have they tried to fabricate an issue or tried to make the most of my checkbook. If you plan ahead and ask for "I'd like to wait," so you can get on with your life, they can and will make it happen. Even though I go in with one of the two local NPR stations playing, invariably I pick up my car and there's something from a different perspective tuned in (more amusing than annoying - experience tells me that my preference of "information sourcing" has not put me in jeopardy of anything but the best service they have to offer). My most recent visit was evident of their kind hearts and ethical practices - no charge for a couple minor repairs (other than parts) and no unneccesary 'fixes' (asked that my AC be checked and was told that all was AOK; on my previous visit I was told that my rear brakes were getting close to needing attention and I just assumed that my front brakes were in the same boat - went to pick up the car and the rear brakes had been serviced and I was told my front brakes are still fine).
