While the room interior was fully remodeled and looked really nice, my stay was ruined by multiple issues. The room itself was quite spacious, but it completely lacked a closet or dresser to store clothes, which makes no sense given how much empty space there was to add them. The check-in process was also a letdown, as they use a "virtual assistant" screen with a remote worker from another country instead of a face-to-face on-site employee. My biggest complaint was the noise and lack of sleep. The AC/heating unit was so incredibly loud that we had to turn it off and just suffer through the cold night. On top of that, the walls are paper-thin; we were woken up at 3:00 AM by neighbors loudly fighting and arguing about money and drugs. To make matters worse, the curtains are not blackout, so bright morning light flooded the room and woke us up super early. Finally, they hit us with a hidden $10 parking fee that was not disclosed until check-in. After already paying over $171 on Agoda, finding out about extra fees at the desk is a terrible experience. Paying $181 total for a nice-looking room with this many random issues and poor sleep means I definitely would not stay here again. read more

Let me clarify.... Because the business is going to comment their generic "we're sorry..." I arrived on premises between 4-10 pm... which is check in time. Alpine said they're rolling out a new virtual kiosk, well guess what? The kiosk was OUT OF SERVICE. And theirs supposed to be an employee ? There was no one around and no one to be found who can check me in. I'm sorry, if I didn't have the means to book another hotel, what would've happened?? I did what I was supposed to, Alpine failed miserably. When I arrived to the surprise of not one employee, I called, I knocked on doors, no one was on site. The kiosk was out of service. Check in was awkward and uncomfortable, there was a human present, but we weren't allowed to speak to him. We had to use a kiosk with a person on the screen who had a scan our ID and credit cards. In fact, we had to scan the card multiple times even though we pre-paid for the room. $10 charge for parking and $50 for incidentals, BTW the room didn't have any incidentals ( drinks, snacks, etc). Room was funny, like the contractor was 10 years old. No leveling and lots of glue! Very used furniture had water damage or chewed up legs and a sticky damaged and repaired top. Bed was okay. Mini fridge was huge ( bring your beverages and food) nothing is very close so it will be handy. Room was quiet and view was interesting. Bathroom soap didn't work and no bar of soap around, shower shampoo didn't work. Shower itself had freezing cold and scalding hot changes randomly...I wouldn't recommend trying that! If you shower anyway the hairdryer and pull out mirror are handy. Once we were allowed to speak to the gentleman at the desk he was nice and helpful! Come prepared with all your own supplies if you want to save a few bucks and stay here. I don't recommend this place. Good price but many surprises: 1) Stayed there in 2 different rooms, and water running from shower on the floor in both 2) stains on bed headboards and pillows 3) during our stay toilet clogged and feces was running on the floor. At front desk they said "We have no another room, and we not allowed to enter the room you staying, so go to Landry section, find plunger there and FIX YOUR TOILET YOURSELF!" We had no options to book another hotel, so we had issues with going pee outside. Next day they gave us another room, but there were stains on pillows and leaking shower as well. read more

I paid in advance through hotels tonight. It took so long to check I it should have been booked through hotels tomorrow night. Alpine Inn and Suites check in process took literally 40 minutes per customer. Was absolutely insane. AVOID I booked this place to avoid an hour and 20 minute drive home and then back the next morning to the airport. The amount of time it took to check in I might as well have just driven home. I stayed one night after an 8-hour drive, completely exhausted and sleep-deprived. The Indian man at the front desk was rude and gave me a key card that didn't work--three times. I waited an hour in the cold before he finally gave me another room, after initially lying about availability. He refused to offer any discount for the delay. The lobby and room smelled like feces and vomit, the floors were sticky, walls cracked, and the shower had weak pressure. Very poor customer service and overall terrible experience. Update Review: 1/27/24 I stayed here 2 more times after posting my 0 star review due to how close it is to Cow Palace (event center) and they seem to have fixed alot of the negatives from my review in 2023! I am so happy as it is such a convenient location and their rooms go on sale regularly! Stayed here the night before our cruise because we live 5 hours away. As much as the room cost you would think you would have more than just a sheet on the bed and decent pillows. It's a full size bed with 3 very flat pillows and a 19" tv that works like its on its last leg. The pictures on the web are obviously altered. Plus we had payed 3 months in advance for cruise parking to be able to park our car for 2 weeks. We did not know until we got there that they were not going to let us park our vehicle for our cruise even though we had already paid. They could have called or emailed to let us know we needed to make other arrangements and get a refund. I would give them less than 1 star if I could. read more

I've been to this property via Expedia many times. But on Feb 7, Front Desk won't honor our Expedia reservation because it is already 11pm and online-reservation ends at 10pm. Granting they changed their policy, I called Expedia why that information isn't listed in the site. Expedia said because Alpine Inn probably didn't inform Expedia; to make things work Alpine Inn declared us No-Show when we were in the property that night. Front desk won't honor our Expedia reception. Front desk made us do another reservation thru the Alpine Inn site. Expedia won't refund us because it was a non-refundable reservation, worse Alpine Inn declares us as No-Show (unprofessional move). Alpine Inn made money from us twice that night but we were only given one room. The money they'll get from Expedia, and the money they get from the Alpine Inn site. read more

This looked adorable and I made reservations to stay here but once I got the reservation information it stated that there was a charge for parking. Which I find pretty ridiculous because there's plenty of room for parking also it never mentioned the charge when I was making the reservations. Total dump! Refused to clean the room during our two day stay here! Room stunk! Front desk staff rude and disrespectful! Told me $10 early check in fee and then charged me $20! Our battery was dead to the door lock and our keycard wouldn't work and the moron kid at the front desk refused to have it fixed! Don't stay here! read more

I was on my way from San Jose to San Francisco so I went through Expedia and I trusted the reviews about the Alpine inn and hotel, So I reserved my hotel. Around 9pm I got my rooms and one of them had trouble on sink and didn't drain the water so it had some stopped water as well as it was unable to wash my hands. So I had trouble to wash my hands and I let the receptionist knew about my issue. Unfortunately they ignore me for 2 nights and they keep refusing to change my room or fix my problem. Hence, I requested towel and cleaning the room and again they ignore to fix my enquiries. At the check out point. I talked to manager and he was not nice and he does not care about customer happiness as well as he just credit me with 40 bucks!!! read more

For the price it's pretty good. The guy at reception was kind and accommodating. It needs to be updated and some minor repairs. But there's a reason the price is low and in the same breath you have to pay for parking when there's a space in front of each room and several spaces in the back. What a cute and unconventional little hotel this is! Here are the deets: Price: No. This place is not cheap, despite the modest look. I think we paid about $270/night. Location: Not too far away from the airport (why we got it), but close to other neighborhoods with late night food (e.g. mission terrace, outer mission) Service: I have never ever encountered a more friendly greeting to a hotel. I honestly wish I knew what his name was. What a sweet guy. Vibe: An uphill alley lined with duplexes. You share/roof with just one other room. Park right outside. The room itself is very modest, but wasn't really lacking for anything (comfortable bed, closet, tv). Anything bad? yeah. The shower. One second I'm having a super pleasant shower. Then I'm dying being I'm freezing. Then I'm dying because my skin is literally melting off. Repeat. Horrible. Also, for such a high price, they could splurge on nicer shampoo/soap but oh well. Breakfast: I could've sworn that "free breakfast" had been mentioned, but I was really tired when I booked so who knows. There's no breakfast but there are free pastries in the check-in condo and one of those yukky coffee machines that mixes a bunch of powders to make you a "latte". If you like pastries, try them! I wouldn't recommend staying here. Staff was kind to me which is why they get 2 stars but the room was filthy. This was just a quick stay for my flight in the morning. I walked in and checked the bathroom and the window was wide open with no screen. It was big enough for somebody to fit through if they wanted to. Also the other 2 windows in the room were unlocked. The bathroom smelled moldy. (Probably explains why the window was opened) I waited until after my flight to shower cause I didn't trust even that. There is no sliding bolt to lock the door so I put a chair for extra safety. The shades don't cover the room windows completely. The bed was very visible to that space that's not covered. Idk why they don't replace the headboard or get rid of them completely. They're disgusting. One lamp on one side of the bed was so dim it was like a night light while the other side lit up the whole room. They also have no usb option. I had to go to the store around the corner for a block. I didn't bring mine since most places these days have them. Lesson learned though. I didn't even sleep under ANY of the covers cause of how concerned I was. Will definitely spend the extra money in the future for a hotel at the airport cause this wasn't worth even $100. read more

I would normally give this place a better star rating and review since this has been my go to hotel when I'm in SF . But as of the last couple weeks it's been a nightmare. I was double charged and have been trying to get it resolved but no help has been given. Emails and calls have been sent. And every time it's the same response when someone picks up. " call back tomorrow when the manager is in" we call and they say oh the manager is not in. At this point it's very frustrating to not get any response back or communicate. Rented room thru expedia, which came out to almost 68 dollars a night, tax included, with two beds for 3 people. Very nice room!!! Looks like little cottages from the outside, but has all the amenities you would ever need. Microwave, cable, refrigerator, hot/cold air conditioner. Plus the rooms looked and smelled like if they had been remodeled lately. Our stay was nice and quite, plus we went to visit during the week. So dont know how the weekend gets there. The guy in the lobby, some indian fellow was nice, and helped us out in the room when we had some small problem with the water not getting hot. Problem he stated was the maintenance installed the heads on the shower backwards. No biggie. They also have a nice continental breakfast, in the small lobby. You can pick up food, but can't really eat it there. Food was good though. Would definitely stay here again. read more

I stayed here over Christmas and like it, especially for the price (it was $90). As it's a motel (assume you have a car), you can't expect "location" (walking to get coffee isn't convenient) although the view of the bay is really nice. Divey but clean. I came back again just a few days ago. They had raised the price to 130. My reservation seemed to have gotten lost (maybe that was Hotels.com) but I finally got a room after 30 min; the clerk did her best. And then they charged an extra 10 dollars for parking-- noted, my designated parking spot was NOT next to my room. I can no longer recommend this place. read more

From the fluorescent bathroom lights to the paint stripes across the walls, to the small and plastic shower stall, to the lack of power plugs (the two USB ports on the desk were broken), and the springy bed, this "inn" is a one star motel good for a simple overnight stay but not longer. No complimentary breakfast (just for covid perhaps?), but we were delighted to find an amazing little coffee shop nearby, "Mission Blue". Magnificent coffee/baked items, terrific local original art/gifts from multiple vendors and a terrifically friendly owner. Highly recommended. The fraud thing is we booked weeks ago for a 2 QN room, when we went to the front desk after discovering the error, each of our 4 days they kept INSISTING they're both qns. I've slept on queens for 23 years. I know the experience. My arm and leg kept flopping off the bed, I'd wake up, ruined sleeping. Continental breakfast? All those reviews featuring bagels, pastries, and hot oatmeal? Not anymore. You are handed a box w 1 hardboiled egg (please sir, could I get a little salt&pepper?), small yogurt and tiny not ripe orange. It's a motor lodge, not a hotel. Soaps and shampoos to take home or donate as elsewhere? NOPE. Not here. Soap, bad shampoo, lotion and was are all on the wall. You paid for it but can't take it with you. Bathroom sink / vanity is the tiniest ever seen. We has to stack our stuff on the bathroom toidy. Our tupperware with a friggin' food label on it, housekeeping threw away. Stash anything of yours behind The Curtain and pray. The actual queen bed was super comfy. We just paid 2x for it. Make Your Own BedS: Late night, we helped them out. Body fluids wash out more easily from sheets, not blankets. Housekeeping omitted an undersheet for both the beds. At 12:30am, we remade both beds which had no undersheets, only blankets on you. Oh what a joy. All the joys of home to have to make our own beds. Sink kept backing up and poured water on the floor which we had the joy of cleaning up 3x daily. Let me tell you the ONE thing this hotel is for: COW PALACE EVENTS Seriously, there is not much to this hotel, but it is walking distance from the main entrance of cow palace, and being a person who needed just that, this place was the perfect spot for my friends and I to stay for the night. FACT 1: This hotel isn't classy, but it is relatively new inside (furniture/bathroom sink/floors). FACT 2: This hotel is just past the Cow Palace parking lot perimeter FACT 3: It depresses me to see how ripped off I got with people paying 50-80 bucks a night to stay here. etdPOP-2009. One bed hotel room. 140 bucks after taxes/fees. HAHAHA. Damn you supply and demand... FACT 4: Not ideal for trying to stick it to the man and cram some buddies into either...hardwood floors. ...if i were to rebook for this years pop trip, I would still book at Alpine. The convenience is awesome, and every single one of your neighbors is still out partying in the hotel later (doors open like an SF Isla Vista) dancing in the street because they all came from the same place you did...Epic. read more

Pros: Ahh-mazing bed and pillows, cute decor, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, free wifi, free parking, and continental breakfast. Cons: lack of local dining, bath tub, and snazzy LCD. So kids, why does this place get 4 stars? It's simply because of all the things you get without expecting them AND for the price. Aside from the pros listed above, they give you a complimentary welcome package complete with granola bar, water bottles, chips, and cookies, as well as Starbucks coffee in your room, shoe shine polish (how many places still do that?), and make-up remover. This place is a great alternative to the tourist trap parts of SF, a great option if you need to hit up SFSU for any reason, or if you simply want to visit the bay area on a budget. Additionally, the front desk concierge was attentive and helpful when I asked my twenty questions (like the location of the ice machine). I didn't mind the lack of dining options (read: McDonald's, KFC, and Popeye's) but this may be a problem if you don't have a car. Also, should you feel the need to have a cheesy romantic evening with your *insert affectionate name here*, the standing-only shower may prove to slightly hinder your sexy-time aspirations. I moved here in July, and for two months this was my home. Now there isn't anything really special about this place, comfortable beds, pretty clean facility, TV(HBO), wireless Internet, and a three star breakfast in the morning. Usually consisted of yogurt, danishes, coffee, OJ, and few selections of cereal. So nothing over the top they did just recently renovate with new decorations and added rooms, so that was nice, it was a modern decor instead of the usual tired rundown hotels. It also has in some rooms, two separate rooms, so if you, like I, had to stay with a coworker you could have your separate areas. So why the four stars? The owners of this location, who live on site, actually give a shit about their Inn. Every morning they are awake in the office to greet and talk to you. They ask you how you are if you have been to see this or that, they give recommendations on sites, and things that are going on in the city,. They do this for every person that stays with them. Some mornings I really didn't feel like talking, and that's OK, I would just say hello and be on my way. But if there was ever an issue I was having with other tourist such as the damn kids banging around at 2am, then you could call the office and the owners would handle it. The first day we were there they kicked out some people who were smoking in the room. The fourth week I was there they kicked out another group that had to many people in the room. They are serious. Overall this place is 4 stars, great low price, right next to the Cow Palace, if you ever have an event. Okay breakfast, but great service! read more
