Check in was awkward and uncomfortable, there was a human present, but we weren't allowed to speak to him. We had to use a kiosk with a person on the screen who had a scan our ID and credit cards. In fact, we had to scan the card multiple times even though we pre-paid for the room. $10 charge for parking and $50 for incidentals, BTW the room didn't have any incidentals ( drinks, snacks, etc). Room was funny, like the contractor was 10 years old. No leveling and lots of glue! Very used furniture had water damage or chewed up legs and a sticky damaged and repaired top. Bed was okay. Mini fridge was huge ( bring your beverages and food) nothing is very close so it will be handy. Room was quiet and view was interesting. Bathroom soap didn't work and no bar of soap around, shower shampoo didn't work. Shower itself had freezing cold and scalding hot changes randomly...I wouldn't recommend trying that! If you shower anyway the hairdryer and pull out mirror are handy. Once we were allowed to speak to the gentleman at the desk he was nice and helpful! Come prepared with all your own supplies if you want to save a few bucks and stay here. Honestly it's overpriced for what you actually get behind the fancy web presence and promise of a Paris vacation!

I don't recommend this place. Good price but many surprises: 1) Stayed there in 2 different rooms, and water running from shower on the floor in both 2) stains on bed headboards and pillows 3) during our stay toilet clogged and feces was running on the floor. At front desk they said "We have no another room, and we not allowed to enter the room you staying, so go to Landry section, find plunger there and FIX YOUR TOILET YOURSELF!" We had no options to book another hotel, so we had issues with going pee outside. Next day they gave us another room, but there were stains on pillows and leaking shower as well.

I paid in advance through hotels tonight. It took so long to check I it should have been booked through hotels tomorrow night. Alpine Inn and Suites check in process took literally 40 minutes per customer. Was absolutely insane. AVOID I booked this place to avoid an hour and 20 minute drive home and then back the next morning to the airport. The amount of time it took to check in I might as well have just driven home. Utterly ridiculous.

Update! Management did reach out and make an effort to right some concerns I had. Much better improvement on customer service and I talked to my mother who stayed with us and she said she had a pretty good time.

What a cute and unconventional little hotel this is! Here are the deets: Price: No. This place is not cheap, despite the modest look. I think we paid about $270/night. Location: Not too far away from the airport (why we got it), but close to other neighborhoods with late night food (e.g. mission terrace, outer mission) Service: I have never ever encountered a more friendly greeting to a hotel. I honestly wish I knew what his name was. What a sweet guy. Vibe: An uphill alley lined with duplexes. You share/roof with just one other room. Park right outside. The room itself is very modest, but wasn't really lacking for anything (comfortable bed, closet, tv). Anything bad? yeah. The shower. One second I'm having a super pleasant shower. Then I'm dying being I'm freezing. Then I'm dying because my skin is literally melting off. Repeat. Horrible. Also, for such a high price, they could splurge on nicer shampoo/soap but oh well. Breakfast: I could've sworn that "free breakfast" had been mentioned, but I was really tired when I booked so who knows. There's no breakfast but there are free pastries in the check-in condo and one of those yukky coffee machines that mixes a bunch of powders to make you a "latte". If you like pastries, try them! They were delicious actually. There are plenty of nearby coffee shops.

Waffles, muffins, yogurt, coffee -- simple but enough to start the day. Not gourmet, but consistent with the brand. Coffee was fresh, which is key. Gym was a plus. Not huge, but had the basics: cardio machines, weights, clean space. You can get a real workout in, not just a token "fitness room." Cleanliness overall was solid. Bathroom was tidy, common areas looked maintained. No issues there. Service was straightforward. Staff polite, check-in and check-out smooth, no friction. Only downside -- it's very "standard." (SFO Airport) Rating: 4.0/5.0 The Grand Hyatt at SFO is an amazing property, Hyatt truly showed why they belong in the luxury tier with this entry. A 351-room (and suite) airport hotel, one of the best airport hotels in the world, and connected directly to the airport via presecurity (TSA) airtrain on airport grounds. This was quite a luxurious hotel, in a prime spot and a must-stay for avgeeks (aviation geeks). While not the most luxurious hotel I've stayed at, it proves it doesn't have to be. While providing fine dining (at the Quail & Crane Restaurant, more on that below) or fast and convenient to-go items that can be enjoyed in your room or on-the-go (more than likely when here, you're heading to a flight, see: Twin Peaks café, below), the Grand Hyatt at SFO offers unparalleled service for an airport hotel and deserves its 5-star rating. The fitness center by itself is huge and offers yoga mats, stretch balls, peloton fitness bikes, treadmills, standard recumbent bikes, free weights, circuit training and more, plus complimentary water and towels. What is more, is that they truly metaphorically bend over backwards to serve you which no hotel is obligated to do. If you order Uber Eats or Doordash, for example, they'll drop your food at their first floor valet lobby; it's no problem at all. Though the Quail & Crane Restaurant offers an excellent fusion of Western/American continental cuisine, while the Twin Peaks bar had an amazing selection of cocktails to make for you upon request, and the neighboring Twin Peaks market had a standard mix of cold beverages (water, soda, juice, etc.) and snack items including potato chips, and standard American/western fare And the views! Where do I start? This is where being an avgeek comes into play as an advantage and the hotel encourages this, providing an "aircraft identification guide," binoculars, pen, and paper notepad. I spent hours in my suite watching aircraft land, taxi, park at the gate, taxi to the runway then take off. NOTE: Request an apron-view room or suite, otherwise you get an interior room /suite. My suite had panoramic views of the International terminal and half of the "A" gates (the international terminal consists of one gigantic hall and two piers, "A" and "G" gates - Star Alliance aircraft depart out of the "G" gates, while everyone else uses the "A" gates and pier. Domestic terminals 1, 2, and 3 are strictly for gates "B" "C" "D" "E" and "F"). I had to get a pad of paper and a pen to keep track of every aircraft I saw. Would I stay here again? Absolutely! 4.0/5.0 is my final rating, only because 5.0 is the proverbial unicorn; no hotel gets 5.0/5.0, it is unfair to other establishments and there is always something any given hotel can do better, even if it is so unnoticeable to guests, it is behind the scenes. The only thing that could make the Grand Hyatt SFO better is a spa on-site but I'm being unnecessarily nit-picky here, which isn't fair to the hotel.

We got a handicapped room, not sure why, but the balcony made it nice. The shower had super low water pressure. The remote blinds barely worked with the controller and the "fake view" on the roller shade was kind of comical. Unfortunately, the closet furniture required brute force to slide open or close the door. We took advantage of the free breakfast both days, and the menu was exactly the same each day. The eggs were pretty good, and the sausage was not bad either. It would have been nice if they had a bit more fruit selection; they just had bananas. Our flight home was delayed going back, so I asked for a later checkout (even just an hour), but they said no. I thought that was one of the "perks" of my Bonvoy status, but I guess not. Since it was a Sunday, I thought they could have let us stay one more hour. They did hold our luggage for us and seemed very surprised when I tipped the clerk at pickup. At 10:59 am precisely, "Housekeeping" was knocking on our door, seeing when we were going to leave. Close by the "Shore Shack" is a friendly little diner with decent food. Oh, and one important note --- T-Mobile has virtually NO signal inside this hotel. Your phone will be on SOS the whole time. Luckily, their Internet wifi worked pretty well, but I hate using unsecured networks.
