Sink has no hot water, no water pressure in shower, no fan in the bathroom, and no blow dryer. No phone in the room, bed sinks in the middle, and carpet must be at least 50 years old. I was over charged for a night that I didn't even stay there The nights I did stay I was over charged for a price that was more then what I was quoted. When I asked the owner to rectify the charges he didn't, and just confused me There wasn't even a phone charger outlet in the room by the bed. I had to charge my phone from across the room I didn't feel safe without my phone by me. The bed was uncomfortable and the room smelled. There was an extremely ugly pillow on the bed. I had to hide it so I didn't have to see it. The door didn't lock right. I didn't feel safe and had to put a chair against the door. I was a handicapped woman alone. I didn't realize it at first, but you could see figures of people walking up the stairs from the bathroom window. I didn't feel safe even in the bathroom. The service was good. The price was better. The availability and flexibility was super clutch. It is what it is. A NIGHTLY motel on the side of the road with reasonable price and readily available rooms. Only knocks were that the smoke detector was missing, obviously someone was trying to fire up, easy fix. The sink in bathroom has a slow drain, also a possible easy fix, and the showerhead could be changed as well, more of a customer comfort thing tho. Suburban motel in Daly City Small unit but it's okay because we just needed a place to rest our heads after an evening of New Year's Eve fun out in San Francisco. Check-in was no hassle, quick and easy (booked through Expedia). Check-in time was at 2:00p and our room was ready. Great! Our unit was clean upon entry. It had a Queen bed, a small round table with two chairs and your basic amenities, a small fridge, a coffee maker, cable TV and free Wi-Fi. Did not even turn the TV on... too tired after a whole afternoon enjoying San Francisco and watching the fireworks in the evening at the Embarcadero Waterfront. Hubby had to find parking nearby because the lot was full when we got back. There is complimentary breakfast but we didn't make it on time to that one. The neighborhood was pretty quiet that evening. The inn is located in the heart of Daly City on Mission Blvd. There is a 24-hr donut shop (Royal Donuts) across the street and a Wendy's a few blocks (0.3 miles) on the same side of the motel. This is my first 3 star review (why talk about something that is mediocre) but I just can't give it 4. I tried. I was looking for places to crash in the wee hours of the night in the South San Francisco area and I found myself driving north on El Camino Real. It was 3 AM when I saw the signs for the El Camino Inn. I rang the bell hoping someone would answer. A pleasant young gentleman did who was very kind and helpful, and soon I found myself in a room, asleep. So here we go, the room. The room is small and furnished as expected in places like that. Very no frills. It smelled a bit strange but not bad. Fridge, microwave, coffeemaker. The bathroom is spartan and smells of chlorine, which is one smell I don't mind in bathrooms. Positive: The room, and bathrooms are clean. The appliances work (but see below). The water is copious and hot. The towels are acceptable. The bed is clean and comfortable. The WiFi is fast and reliable. Negative: The showerhead leaks. The shower door can not be fully closed. THERE ARE ONLY 2 DOUBLE ELECTRICAL OUTLETS in the entire room. One is on one side of the bed, into which a lamp and all electrical appliances are connected. Well, except the microwave whose cable does not reach the power adapter so if you want to use it you have to put it down on the floor (and unplug something else). There is no outlet on the other side of the bed. The other outlet feeds the tv from a distant corner. Come on people, you can do better! read more

okay let me start with this..the motel is 100 years old or if not 100 yrs close to it, my husband says it was here before he was born & he is 71, we were told we were getting a queen bed because it was the only room, it is a full bed, the room is quite old, in need of repairs, hardly any outlets, we brought our own extension cords so we could plug in their lamp, one double light only had one side that worked slightly, the bed I did not trust so we slept on sleeping bags with our own pillows, we brought our bath mat at as the dinky bathroom floor was quite slippery....on the upside the WiFi is free, we have barely lukewarm water, heat/cooling & the TV works, honestly the rooms don't cost much so you get what you pay for, I have stayed here before decades ago & I personally believe this will be closed down fairly soon, as I stated it is inexpensive & I am grateful I have a place to lay my head also they do have a refrigerator & microwave! I would not recommend this place to anyone, not my worst enemy, the longer I am here(just a matter of hours now) the worse it becomes, I am quite disappointed & will not ever stay here again, they took my money however lesson learned, be warned people be warned, I payed for 5 days & will not stay here during the day, I try to see the positive to everything however this is a difficult one for me..... the microwave, fridge & heating works, so for that I am grateful..... read more

I haven't stayed here even though I had a reservation here. Actually, two reservations. I made two bookings at this hotel in August, through hotels.com, one for my family and one for my parents. My parents arrived first. Here is what transpired: The hotel couldn't find our reservations at first. After putting in a call to hotels.com, the rep there called the hotel. Yup, the found it. All set. Oh wait, we don't have rooms but stick around...maybe we'll have something. While my parents are sitting in this tiny closet of a front desk area, the owner/manager is pretty much ripping hotels.com apart. Listen, you don't have to contract your rooms to them. My mother asked where the restroom was and he directed her to the donut shop across the street. Why? She wasn't a registered guest. Another call the hotels.com and their relocation specialist. They called the hotel again and I'm convinced the manager/owner just told hotels.co whatever they wanted to hear in hopes that my parents would just walk away. The hotel would have been paid already and they could rent out the room again. Hotels.com gave them the chance of finding another hotel for my parents and my family. So, he called a sister property and tried to finagle more money out of my parents. Fat chance. 2.5 hours later, we were moved to a better hotel and El Camino Inn has to refund hotels.com since they didn't fix the situation. Recommended? Nope. read more

My flight from San Francisco got cancelled after sitting and waiting in the plane because of mechanical problems and there was no hotels by the airport available. I spent a couple nights at this motel in Daly City, and it is pretty close and convenient to San Francisco and the Daly City BART station. It was somewhat quiet with the exception of the other guests arriving late or those partying too much! Plenty of free parking but just as long as you don't get back too late at night (as all stalls may be filled by then). The rates I paid were roughly $80 per night (plus tax) in the spring, and it includes a continental breakfast from 7-11 AM each morning. There was a small refrigerator. Bed sheets were clean and nicely done with several thick pillows. On the bad side, the room I got was really small (one standard queen) and so was the bathroom, which had no counter space and was really cramped at times. No closet to hide or store your belongings so I had to leave them on the floor next to the bed. And I'm not trying to make a big deal about it, but just happened to see some ants wandering about the bathroom floor in my particular room. In addition, there was no microwave and the television set is outdated or could use some upgrading. But I suppose as the cliche goes, you get what you pay for. read more

Pros: -It was a cheap but nice enough hotel. -It was in an OK area to walk through to the BART station. -It was about a 10 minute walk to the BART station to get to downtown San Francisco easily. The room: clean, but small. No big deal. No AC, so you have to keep the window open to all of the noise. Walls are paper thin, so I was kept awake by the person in the next room snoring. Again, the room and all was clean. Sheets, bathroom floor, everything was clean. But, the bed sucked. Hard as a rock. Not firm, hard. With matching pillows. Even the Neanderthals said "damn, that is hard". Saw a number of reviews about the "lady" at the front desk... They aren't glowing, and they aren't wrong. So all in all, it is what it is. This hotel is worth a shot if you are trying to save some money during your stay in the city. Cost:My friends and I booked a room for the weekend and we ended up paying about 90$ per night. It was really cheap. You get what you pay for so the room was really small along with the bathroom but it was totally manageable if you are not going to be spending a lot of time in the room anyway like us. We managed to fit 4 girls in one room and it worked out fine although the room was a mess most of the time. Staffing: The staff was friendly when I checked in at the front with an Asian lady. The room key didn't work at first but she fixed the problem quickly when I went back in. At night, the main office is closed so if you get locked out of the room there is no one to let you back in so don't forget to bring your key......but if you need to break in you can easily jump through the bathroom window with no problem ;) which is kind of scary so don't bring valuable things! Also the staff wasn't strict on managing the number of guests you had in a day which was nice. Noise: There was one night where some asian guy came banging on our windows at about 4 a.m. but he left as soon as I answered. It was annoying, along with the train that blows its horn at like 7 a.m. in the morning. The sound woke me up because it was really loud so if you can't deal with loud noise this is not your hotel. Parking: If your looking to park they have parking for 1 car per room but there is plenty of street parking around the neighborhood so fear not! Also there is a little mexican restaurant across the street which has 5$ burritos so that was a plus! Bart: Colma Bart is literally as 6 minute walk from the location. We were in heels and had no problem walking to bart. Biggest perk! I highly suggest this hotel if your looking to be near public transit and looking to save a lot of money!!! read more

The ECI had its faults, but you do get what you pay for. The pluses are that there is abundant (if insecure and somewhat ironic) WiFi, and that there is a hot water tap on the coffee pot for the breakfast room, allowing you to prepare your own instant food and avoid the joke of a continental breakfast they serve. The obvious negatives are the small bathrooms (which have a habit of backing up) and lack of control over the heating. In addition, outlets are awkwardly placed, leading to extension cord bungles and the locks' appearance is deceiving, they don't lock. However, the office lady isn't too bad now, she seems to have read the previous reviews. read more

My experience with this hotel was unbelievably bad, I had to spend a night in a disgusting room with sheets stained with seamen and clumps of hair. So gross!! I had to sleep fully clothed and on top of blankets. I complained, but the owner who doesn't speak very good English btw, told me "they aren't stains". I've stayed here before so I knew what to expect: clean room, small but efficient and free parking. The showers are clean and they provide shampoo, lotion and makeup wipes. I've never had a problem with the staff. The girl that checked us in was super nice and quick. My only issue is the parking. There is a limited amount of parking and I wouldn't think it wasn't enough but when we got back to our motel room around midnight from a show in the city, there was no parking anywhere. At first, my friend and I had a great time. It was good to get away from people for a while.. But then when we left, I left my bag which contained my wallet and important information. I asked the lady if I could get the key back just to get my bag, and she said no. I understand of the possibilities of random people coming in and all that, but she could jut get it for me and ask me what's in it or check my ID. I informed her of the importance of that bag, yet he wouldn't get it for me. She was very rude about it too. It's a great place and all but this is by far the worst service I've ever got in my life. This little place is great. Booked it in just a couple of minutes through their website. The room was very nice and spotlessly clean. The staff member (a redheaded gentleman) who checked me in was very friendly and made me feel welcome. He inquired about my reason for staying, and I told him honestly I had to stay here for a not-so-great reason in my personal life. He was immediately sympathetic to my situation and his kindness really set the tone for my visit here. The room is great, wifi is perfect, the bed is comfortable. Bathroom is stocked with shampoo, soap, and lotion. People complain about the size of the bathroom, but you're not staying in a 5 star suite. Not to mention, you're in a suburb of San Francisco. Most apartment bathrooms are this size, and the showers aren't usually as nice in the apartments as they are here, either! For the price and location, this place is a total deal. My only complaint is that it's near train tracks, and the train horn sounds throughout the day. But at night it's very quiet and safe. I slept like a rock for the first time in over a week. Also, to the reviewer who complained about the rat in her room? That noise you hear comes from the fridge in every room. I heard it this morning. Rats are really uncommon here anyway, and if it had been a rat, I highly doubt it would have just made a tiny chew in your packaging. I think people automatically want to get snobby and think this place is a dump because it's an older place and the price is low, but this is actually a fantastic hotel for the price you're paying. Not a bad place to stay! If you are on a tighter budget and planning a trip to the San Fran area I would suggest this place. It was pretty nice for a little motel, well kept and not slummy looking at all on the outside. A good plus was the number of channels they give you to watch on the televisions, I was expecting to not be able to watch one of my weekly shows but I was happily mistaken. The women that greeted us were really nice and personable with a fun personality. They also had a continental breakfast that was in a small side room which was nice and had a number of the basic breakfast foods which was a nice way to wake up. Finally went through an online booking service -- don't remember which one -- price was a little higher than El Camino Inn's [ECI] unreliable online reservation quote [failed twice], but lower than ECI's agent quote. Still serviceable, barely serviceable -- bathroom is really tiny, REALLY tiny -- continental "breakfast" is a joke -- don't expect anything more than pre-packaged pastries, fruit, and weak coffee. As such, for the price, for one night, ECI served its purpose -- much cheaper than SF, oh, I mean "The City," as small-minded provincial SFers refer to it. No exorbitant city tax added to an already-exorbitant hotel rate, as Daly City and Colma are outside city limits. While the address might be in Daly City, ECI is more accurately located in Colma, whose claim to fame is the highest number of funeral homes in a city, and it shows. Looks like gentrification attempts in the area -- many condos are going up, with a restaurant or two trying to "hip"-up their game. If you have a car, more worthwhile food and entertainment opportunities are nearby in Daly City. The BART station is two blocks from ECI, which may explain local development; though be forewarned, there is an inexplicably roller-luggage-unfriendly, steep, STAIR trek up to the entrance. Or you have to pull your roller up and around a steep and very long and winding road. We may use ECI again, aware of its limitations, but advise all to stay on top of the reservation process. read more

We tried turning the volume down by pressing the button and it turned off instead. 4. 1 lamp was only working. 5. The lady didn't ask if we wanted a smoking or non-smoking. She assumed the we wanted smoking. WTF, only smoking I want is the illegal kind haha...jk 6. The toilet paper roll was half gone and there were no others to be found. The blankets were just the bed cover. WTH? 7. The place is no where near any good eats. One of the worst places I've ever stayed at. For one whoever designed this place did a horrible job. The shower door which is made of glass hits the sink so hard when you open the door that the sound makes a crashing loud sound. Also when I pulled back the sheets to go to bed they were dirty. My GF and I spent 2 nights at this hotel in Daly City, which is about 10 minutes from downtown SF. Good overall choice. The price was reasonable and cheaper than staying in SF, close enough to drive into or commute via the many transit options. We stayed in a queen size room which was neat and clean at our arrival, that was good. On the bad side was the lack of a microwave and the bathroom was a bit on the small side with no counter space, but i guess you get what you pay for. It was also good that our reservations through priceline were taken without a problem. Will likely come back to this place again if we return to visit the rest of SF in the future. read more

I understand, that each hotels have their own rules. I have booked plenty hotels with my fiancee credit card. It just works out better that way, he gets points with his card. Love Love Love this Inn. Stayed here on two separate occasions. First was booked. Tiny room. New Years 2011, then 420 2013. The most recent was not booked and she called us back at MIDNIGHT! She's Asian, not rude. When you grow up in Diamond Bar, you learn, that's how some people are. GET OVER IT. People don't understand that you get what you pay for. Its like $70-80 for a room, if i wanted 5 stars, Id stay at a Hilton. Small to moderate rooms. Cozy. I don't like big rooms because it makes me want to stay in them more. Nice TV. Good channels. Shower water temp goes on the fritz sometimes. Right down the street from thee best pizza place called Primos, open super later. All in all, stay here or don't. More rooms for me! I do not recommend this place. It is old and run down which makes it appear dirty. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The bathroom light was so dim, I could not use it for anything and the window did not lock. The wall heater in the room worked before I went to bed. I turned it down for sleeping, but woke up in the middle of the night freezing. It would not go on and I never could get the heater to work again. read more

If the owner ever reads these reviews do yourself a favor and fire this witch!! Refund policy states 2 days before arrival. When I attempted to do so, it became 3 days. Additionally, was rudely informed that if I did not return my key card upon check out to the front desk they would charge an additional night. Most motels are good with a customer leaving the key in the room. I became disgusted with my check in experience and decided not to stay. Gave the key back and went somewhere else to stay the night. Arrived late after driving around San Fran and not being able to find anything. The man set me up with a single room with one queen bed (I didn't want to pay extra $40 or so for the suite) I told him I had 2 kids, but one was little and we are used to sleeping in a bed together. We got the key and left to go get some food. When we came back the guy asked if we wanted a 2 room suite for the same price. I took him up on the offer. I thought it was very sweet. The place was a little run down and I found old coffee in the coffee pot, but like I said we could find anything in SF so I really cannot complain. read more
