In the clothing section, I was perusing a shirt table and an employee, unprompted, told me about a special they were having and advised me of various styles and sizes. The two people I interacted with at checkout were also stellar -- engaging and personable, smiling and in a good mood. I'm awful about getting names -- I will strive to do a better job, but the four employees I interacted with today were all employees you can be proud of, people customers are happy to engage with. I was here on an errand for someone, actually, so I came looking specifically for a long sleeve Patagonia shirt. They had plenty! They do feature a lot of Patagonia, Hippytree, Cotopaxi, and Naturebacks among others, including a few things with their own house brand. It's primarily clothing, and I didn't really look too much into the gear stuff. They had some nice sweatshirts, tees, and long tees. With those brands, you can imagine that they're not giving the stuff away. Long tees were anywhere from $25 to $50. That's about par for the course on the stuff, so not unreasonable so far as comparison shopping goes. I dig the vibe, I dig what they're into. We finally got assisted, tried on sizes and we were ready to check out. At the register, another customer walks in and THAT person is greeted with a "welcome in". Uumm, yeah, I wasn't expecting that because we weren't greeted when both girls were taking care of a previous customer. Strange. They had sales going on and while walking around looking at the sales, they weren't too bad. I haven't shopped at a BIG 5 in over 9 years. So I'm not too sure what their prices would be like. They seemed pretty cheap compared to DICKS sporting goods and Scheels. The store is clean and organized and well maintained. They have an average amount of inventory, not a whole bunch. We needed navy blue leggings. All we saw were black, dark grey and multi-colored ones. Not a whole lot of color options to choose from. The sizes range from S-XXL and you'll be able to find the sizes needed because they're stocked up with each size between that range. Overall store quality is nice. Customer service, could be MUCH better. For me, the service is always my first impression as soon as I step into the doors. There's no time to be an unhappy or distracted retail worker. You're on the clock. It doesn't take a lot of energy to throw on a smile and greet everyone walking through the doors.
