They recommended not only fitting product but also items on sale to help with my budget and I really appreciated that. Disclaimer** I don't usually leave reviews Jeff Goldblum once said, "I'm so pissed I could spit." That doesn't even come close to the amount of rage i'm experiencing right now. I'm spoiled living in Manhattan where the skate shops are core, they know your name, & are always stoked to help. I didn't realize how bad Utahns had it until I went to Board of Provo for the first time. I came in for simple repair hard goods. Some bushings, pivot cups and a sheet of grip. After spending money at their shop, I requested to grip my own skateboard. He refused and informed me that he would do it. I think he assumed that I am incapable & would take a long time being that I was dressed in my business casual clothes from just getting in from my flight. ??????????????? I can't believe someone who had to ask what a pivot cup was, could assume that I (a sponsored skateboarder of 12 years) am incapable of gripping my own skateboard. I'm deeply saddened by the locals that only have this shop as a resource. The fact that their staff doesn't know anything about skateboarding & that they sell Ski's, shows a lot about their core skate values. To me it's essentially a rollerblade shop. So incredibly disappointed and would highly advise against spending any money here. read more

A lot of their boards are knock off copy prints. Zumiez has higher quality decks then the ones I got from board of provo. They chip on the slightest hit, the snap from just taking it down a 6 stair... every single board I've gotten from them have lasted me most 3-4 days before snapping. The decks are unnecessarily heavy (for example: an 8.25 deck weights about 3lbs while I've weighed the ones I got from them (also 8.25) and they came out to weight a little over 6lbs) I highly recommend just going to zumiez or if your okay with going out of the way, go check out some local shops in salt lake (highly recommend Milo's) They are just cheap made boards, with horrible sanding job around the board, even some graphics look off and can be scratched off with your finger nail read more

Most people working there are rude. Owner acts like he is too good to talk to anyone. Way to suck the joy out of skating for young kids. If you have the knowledge and are not willing to be kind , it means nothing. Obviously driven by money of which we will spend anywhere else but here. We have skated with the best. This is one of the finest board shops around. There are not many local skate/snowboard shops around these days. This shop reminds me of the great shops of my childhood. The selection is great and the staff is knowledgeable and experienced. The upstairs is the skate shop filled with new and nostalgic boards of all kinds from your standard deck to longboards, to even electric driven models. There's tons of swag and apparel as well as tons of trucks and wheels. The downstairs is the snowboard/ski area filled with tons of options as well as apparel of all varieties. I was stoked to see a large selection of split-boards and outdoor options. Be sure to stop by and check out this shop when you are in the area. Great service and great knowledge on all things. Only downside is that their return policy sucks. Bought new boots from them, wore it literally just out of the car; it was to tight so I didn't ride in them, rented boots. Went back the next day to exchange them, I was told "yeah since it touched the floor we can't take it back. It's not in new condition anymore." So if you're buying something there, just check it out and try stuff on. If you're iffy on it, go to REI or somewhere online, that will accept your return if you're not satisfied. Would give 1 stars, but Tod is the best so 2 stars. read more

Honestly, decent selection of goods but don't you dare sit on the couches... lol. I really feel bad for the people here that haven't had the privilege of going to an actual board shop... There was probably 3 customers in the entire store, two of which being my wife and I and the other was upstairs. My wife and I walked around checked out some stuff none of which we fancied so we sat down on the couch. Not even 30 seconds later a grumpy old dude came down and said that the couches were for customers trying on boots only.... Haha. I guess we were in the way of the one guy upstairs looking at decks... not being from Utah, I've been in countless ride shops, most of which having couches all of which you can sit on as much as you want. I was visiting from LA for work and needed gloves to keep me warm while working outside in the canyons during some cold winter nights. The owner and the woman who helped me were very knowledgeable and helpful and hooked me up with a pair of gloves on sale for $25 that saved my life. While I was there a fella came in and said that he had bought his son's board equipment there 2 years ago and came back to thank the owner and give him a gift (a box of frozen beef!). So clearly this is a place with good customer service despite what a couple of the petty angry reviews say. read more

This place is awesome. Usually have everything you need. The only downside is the girl that works in the shop was super rude. She didn't want to help me and told me that there are actual customers she needs to deal with and basically shut me off. If you're there just look for any guy in the shop to help you they are all super chill cause the woman in there is a total douche bagel. read more

Board of Provo is a great board shop. They constantly have sales and their employees have great product knowledge as well as product experience. The owner is a great guy and will help you put together your dream set up. He just helped me put together my dream snowboard as shown in this picture. Great vibes at this board shop! RILEY is the guy to see for anything for skateboarding to snowboarding. He is an encyclopedia of knowledge, was beyond friendly, and really took the time to get to know my wife and I so that he could show us the exact products that would fit our style, experience, and price range. Everyone in the shop is super friendly, and they make everyone that walks through the door feel like a priority. I know absolutely nothing about snowboarding, but not once did I ever feel talked down to like I have at some other shops in the past. I recently bought a pair of Nike SB's from Board of Provo. After wearing them around the house a bit, I decided that the fit was a little too narrow, and that I'd be better off exchanging them for something else that fits a bit better. After examining the shoe a bit, and noticing that the bottom of the shoes were no longer flawlessly white, the employee determined that this couldn't be done because they had been worn. The shoes were in plenty good enough condition that they could have been resold, and I think that was an absurd decision on his part. This obviously isn't a business that's looking to satisfy their customers. Two stars rather than one simply because they've got good stuff in stock and the store has a nice vibe. Three stars off because customer service is very important to me. read more

Just spent 45 minutes being educated about snowboards from Jordan who couldn't have been more helpful or knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions and definitely knew what he was talking about. You could tell that he had experience in both snowboarding and being a salesman. Wouldn't go anywhere else to get any of my board or skate equipment. read more

My boyfriend has been going there for 10+ years and has always loved it because he is big into skateboarding. And the past few times him and I have been there they have had the WORST customer service. They give us dirty looks, make us feel like we are not welcome there, and are just plain mean. The owner John's wife made my boyfriend feel so belittled when he tried to buy $50 worth of stickers. The owner John has also treated us poorly. I have spend hundreds of dollars there since we started dating, and will never go back. My boyfriend has spent THOUSANDS of dollars in the past 10 years. They have great products and inventory but terrible customer service. It is such a shame. I work at a place where great customer service is extremely promoted, and here they could care less about their customers. read more

I went in there to get my son his first skateboard. Not only did he help him pick out a board that fit him perfectly, he explained to him how and why it was the right board for him. He explained to him the process of building it to him the whole way through. They were helpful and kind and made the whole process really fun and educational! This shop is legit! I make sure to hit up Board of Provo when ever I'm in Utah Co. I didn't expect to see over 7000 sq feet of ski, board and skate product, on 2 levels! I would say it's a "core shop" that's upscale! Everything is organized and you will find the high end "restricted" Burton stuff your looking for. The guys working the shop know their stuff, they all get plenty of days on the mountain, and John the owner is always on hand. He started the shop over 10 years ago & he's a super helpful, humble dude. They want to help you out unlike some of the other shops, they will price match. I found a Burton hat that I was going to buy online cause nobody had it, & some other killer Burton gear that I've never seen. So even if your in SLC, take 30 min & go check it out, you will be stoked, and they won't "bro" you! Like some of the other "core" shops! read more

Horrible customer service! Went in with my two daughters and had a lovely chat and experience with one employee who informed me they price matched if it was the exact style, size and color. Went to pay and another employee cuts him off and chews me out in front of my daughters about how price matching is killing snowboard shops and how I should know better, and be ashamed of myself. Then keeps saying "do you understand me?" Mind you I'm still spending $200 on burton snowboard boots in March! He went on for five minutes! He made me so upset I started to cry and shake. He wouldn't stop his rant! Nothing like a complete stranger and employee belittling and being verbally abusive to you at 8 at night. It was so humiliating and degrading to be treated so poorly. Couldn't he have just said "I'm sorry we actually don't price match?" We still have store credit there so my husband is going to go use it so we can be done with them completely. It's really a shame I've been boarding for 20 years and am just shocked the other guy just stood there and said nothing. How they have made it even this long is beyond me. (poser shop) Im a pro skater, not well known but I'm good enough I consider myself a pro (with 16 years of skating experience). I was in utah checking out some parks when my board broke, decided to find a good skate shop to get a new build to continue my journey, decided to stop at board of provo in provo, I got the exact same board as I currently (the Decenzo Powell board with the bear) keep in mind my old board lasted me about 5-6 months before getting its first chip. this board within the first day it already had pressure cracks and a chip on the nose. I told them I set up my board in a specific way so please do not put it together just give the parts as is, turned around to look at the grip tape and turned back to find them putting my board together, after calling them out they stopped but after the purchase they kept pieces from the bearings including the box (some things they decided to keep were things I have as essential on my board) on top of all that my old board (with 3-4 layers of fiber glass) and a complete with custom made griptape cost me $130. here, I got the exact same but less quality, no custom grip, and went out missing items I purchased cost me over $200!!! this is the worst skate shop I've ever been too and yes I've gotten boards from Walmart before lol read more

In town visiting kids. Brought a slow longboard with us. Board of Provo was recommended after making a few calls. They were so helpful! Took our board and two demo boards into the parking lot to compare. Helped us figure out we needed better wheels and bearing lube. We purchased the wheels and lube and they installed with new hardware, tightened the trucks, etc. What a difference! Longboard runs great now. This kind of service is rare these days, and the prices are cheaper than eBay (we checked). read more
