My second time staying at this neat little spot! This time we were in Soy Capitan. The people who run this place are wonderful! Funny, down to earth and make every single interaction memorable. That's rare! Last time I stayed in Jazzy, comfy and clean and the bed was nice. This time I noticed the towels could use a refresh, the linens, pillows and mattresses are getting pretty dated as well. We had a very cozy stay, with a fire and ample heat in our trialed for the 37 degree night we had. Always love the coffee and chill vibes of this place. Cannot wait to come back! read more

Hotel Luna Mystica is one of those places where you *really* want to love the concept. Staying in curated vintage trailers near the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge sounds amazing in theory--and honestly, parts of it were. Check-in was wonderful. The woman helping us was incredibly kind, informative, accommodating, and genuinely welcoming. The location was also beautiful--great sunset views near the gorge, lots of open space for our toddler to run around, and making a fire at night was definitely a highlight. But...the trailer 'FRIDA' itself just did not match the $300/night price point for a sunday on a long weekend. At first glance it looked clean enough--fresh white linens, towels, working Wi-Fi, etc.--but once you settled in, the cleanliness issues became hard to ignore. There were crumbs on the couch when we arrived, toothpaste splatter still on parts of the mirrors/walls, and the bathroom sink barely drained because it was so clogged. The floors were honestly the biggest shock. My son ran around briefly without shoes and the bottoms of his socks were black within minutes. What really sealed it for me was seeing the cleaning process during checkout. Staff were placing duvets outside on the patio furniture while turning over the trailers. Unfortunately, the chairs themselves were dusty/dirty, and ours even had bird droppings on it. It just didn't inspire confidence in the overall housekeeping standards. It felt less "curated desert escape" and more "surface-cleaned trailer with great branding." I truly think this place has potential because the concept and location are so unique, and the staff we interacted with were lovely. But for the price, the cleanliness standards need to be significantly higher. read more

I stayed here for one night and it was alright. I booked my reservation less than two weeks ago and about half of the trailers were still available so it wasn't crowded at all. The staff were really nice and the other guests seemed pleasant enough, at least the ones I talked to. The main office has a small gift shop with various items that are all monogrammed with the hotel/campground name and logo. I was in the "Thelma" trailer and it was fine for the most part. The door gave me the most concern because it doesn't close all the way unless you really slam it shut. When I arrived the door was locked but since it wasn't closed all the way I was able to tug on it and the door popped open. Once I figured out how much force was needed just to get it to stay closed and secure, I noticed that there was a sizable gap around the edge and a breeze was blowing through. It didn't bother me at the time but then the wind picked up and aside from the cold getting in, the whistling noise was irritating so I stuffed paper towels in the gap. The wind was pretty strong so I stayed in the trailer until the evening. This trailer doesn't have a shower but it is next to the shower building/hut. I didn't use the facilities but it rained for most of the afternoon and evening while I was here so I ended up getting soaked anyway. I was attending a concert at the venue next door which was held outside. The only other concern I had during my time in the trailer was the size of the beds. Thelma has two small beds and I'm by no means a large person, but even I was a bit uncomfortable because my feet butted up against the closet and I almost rolled off the bed a few times because it's very narrow. When I arrived, one of the beds had a ring-shaped impression on the spread with what looked like dirt or coffee grounds around it. I didn't use the stovetop or the microwave since I packed my own food. The drawers had some utensils, knives, and other assorted items but they look like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time. One of the closets had a fan, space heater, and some other boxy appliance crammed into it. I packed as if I was going camping and I'm glad I did because it got very cold at night. I had extra layers of clothes and towels so I made it through the night without issue. The pillows and sheets on the bed were nice but they didn't completely block the cold. I'd stay here again if I have any reason to be in this region again. I booked through a travel website and with a few discounts the total for the night was about $150. There is also a separate $10 cleaning fee but the hotel puts tax on it for some reason so it was really a $11.25 fee. read more

We stayed here on the recommendation of a friend and I fell in love with the place! We stayed in Terry, a teeny tiny cozy little guy. All of the different trailers are beautiful to walk around and look at and the place just has a fantastic vibe. The view is gorgeous as well. Some recommendations: bring your own shampoo/soap/etc. None of that was provided. We used the outdoor showers as the shower in Terry was minuscule. Our A/C didn't work well during the day but the evenings were so nice and cool and the fresh air at night was delicious, highly recommend opening your windows. I stayed at Hotel Luna Mystica for a friend's vow renewal ceremony. It was the perfect venue for a group event - the trailers made visiting in small groups comfortable while everyone could also meet in the common areas, or you could go and have quiet time alone in comfort. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and go out of their way to help - even running over in the pouring rain to help fix an issue. The views are to die for, it's remote enough to feel like a getaway into nature, but close enough to Taos and other amenities to be convenient. It's easy to find and get into and out of. The bath/shower rooms are clean, convenient, private, and secure. Trailers are adorable and each one has its individual charms. I stayed in the Louise and many people agreed that I chose best. The beds/bedding are SO comfortable, but be advised that are smaller than you might be used to. They are fairly well-appointed with kitchen and bathroom products and amenities. Things to keep in mind (not complaints, pointers to make the most of your stay): - Take shoes that can get muddy. There are paths, but if it's rainy, you're going to get muddy. Pack for weather swings - it can get cool at night, so bundle up and enjoy the firepits. - These are vintage campers. They have been updated, but they are vintage with some rustic charm. - There is a brewery next door with live music on weekends. If you want peace and quiet, go during the week rather than the weekend. - If your trailer has a shower, it's still better to go to a shower room. The water pressure is better and you'll have more room to move around. Pack accordingly with shower shoes and a caddy. - If you are sharing a trailer, choose its sleeping configuration well - will someone have to crawl over their partner to get up in the middle of the night? - Drink lots of water. The tap water in the trailers is actually good and there are bottle refillers in the main office. Take advantage; especially if you are not used to dry climates. - SUNSCREEN! Every trailer's porch faces east and are perfect for taking in the views with your morning coffee. They aren't covered. - Take a USB port if you have devices that can't be charged from an outlet. Our fire pit was very muddy so they let us use another one that wasn't occupied. Just a few things to note: windows are shut closed during the winter, when we were there Looks like they don't really accept early check-in bc they're thoroughly cleaning and making sure everything is dried Also ten minutes from main of Taos Go to Cids and stock up on drinks and food. I booked four days over Thanksgiving week in the Castor. Check in was easy but I was dismayed to find upon arriving to my camper (Castor) that it was much more run down than pictured on the website. Several of the cabinets were damaged and the roof had water damage that was recent and felt damp to the touch. When I returned from my first day in Taos the heat in my camper had quit working. Fortunately when I brought my issues up with the front desk I was switched to a nicer camper for the remainder of my stay (Esmeralda) and was given a small discount. The new camper was much more in line with what I was expecting and seemed much more well maintained and I enjoyed staying in it! It stayed very cozy inside despite the cold weather! I did want to note that online the camper I ended up staying in (Esmeralda) was listed as ADA accessible but the front door stuck very badly because it scraped on the deck and both I and my family members I had a hard time opening it several times which could be an issue for someone with strength or mobility issues. In all I would stay Hotel Luna Mystica is a fun place to stay if you have a sense of adventure and don't mind having to be flexible with your plans. We had a great stay in the Apollo, a beautiful Airstream trailer! The staff is so friendly, and the views are spectacular! You'll want to stay up late to see the beautiful night sky (with tons of shooting stars and satellites) and then get up early to see the sunrise over the mountains. We saw a coyote in the field and a hot air balloon in the early morning sky. It's short drive to the Gorge Bridge and downtown Taos. read more

I stayed in Pollux, which was cozy and just enough space to decompress each nigh after a day of travel. The views from the front porch are a must see - even at night! This property and vintage trailers are also a great photo op! Just remember that you will be staying in a vintage trailer in the desert - so it can get chilly at night (they do have heaters in the trailers). The Taos Mesa Brewery 'mothership' location is just steps from location. However - it is only open Thursday through Sunday, so keep that in mind while you plan. We decided to book Hotel Luna Mystica for a quick weekend getaway. Just a heads up this place is always booked out and booked our airstream about two months in advance. I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised the campers sit about a 10 minute drive outside of Taos. At first I was surprised at how close the campers seemed to one another but all of the decks and fire pits are spaced out to where you aren't on top of your neighbors. Although it was fully booked while we were there it was very quiet and everyone was super friendly. Each camper has a deck, outside chairs and a fire pit. Ours had a full sized bed and a full bathroom with shower. I'm not super outdoorsy so this was the perfect compromise to camping. We were able to sit around the fire both nights and see the star which was great. The camper came with a large space heater which worked great. It was a cool experience and I would definitely recommend booking an airstream to anyone wanting to get away. They do sell small crates of fire wood but we brought our own along with lighter fluid. read more

We stayed here a few years ago in the "Sundance" trailer and absolutely loved it. Such a beautiful little "glampground" with cute and well-designed renovated vintage trailers. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we arrived and anytime we stopped into the office during our stay. They even provided firewood and firestarters for us so we could enjoy a campfire and s'mores on a somewhat chilly October night. My daughter planned a week-long road trip and invited me to join her. She lives in Austin and I live in OKC, so we met in Tucumcari, NM to head to Taos and Santa Fe. She booked two nights at Hotel Luna Mystica in Taos. It was a great surprise! Hotel Luna Mystica is a unique collection of 20 vintage Airstream and other mobile home trailers. All have been refurbished and had wooden decks and firepits added outside. Inside our Airstream, we found air-conditioning and heat, refrigerator, microwave, stove-top, new bathroom with toilet and sink, 2 very comfortable beds, and a table with bench seats. Outside we enjoyed the deck with a table and lawn chairs with a great view of Taos Mountain. Adjacent to our Airstream trailer was a new shower house with two private showers and changing rooms. Each had its own locked space. The staff was very helpful. There was a great grocery store only 12 minutes away. Also the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge was just 10 minutes away, with great views of the river below and the spectacular bridge. We also enjoyed a visit to nearby Arroyo Seco, a fun little town with a few cafes and little shops, just 12 minutes away. My daughter and I truly enjoyed the peaceful mornings on the deck drinking coffee and enjoying the view, and also the evening happy hours beside our pinon fire. This is a very interesting and unique place to stay while in Taos. Your lodging will vary a bit based on the trailer you stay in. I stayed in the smallest one and it was perfect for one person (would be VERY messy with more than one person). The views are amazing, it's wonderful waking up to see the mountains. There is a glamping element to it - the staff were not always easy to find and my trailer door didn't really unlock without a struggle. On the morning I left it was so cold the water and heat stopped working in my trailer. Hey, this is glamping, I guess. I would still stay there again. read more

What a fun and unique way to stay! My friend and I went on a road trip that included a stop in Taos. We were looking for something different than a typical hotel, but a step up from camping. I found this and we decided to take a chance. I'm so glad we did! We spent a night in "Ralphie" and it was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. We enjoyed a late night bonfire, met some other people staying there and had so much fun. The view of the sky is indescribable. If you live in a city or suburbs I promise you have never seen the sky like this before. It was a beautiful clear night and the sky looked like a sea of glitter. The RV itself was so cute, and also comfortable. We slept great, the shower was good, and it had enough comforts or home to be comfortable without sacrificing the vibe. After finding Hotel Luna Mystica online, I couldn't wait to stay in this vintage trailer campground with all of their differently themed and renovated trailers. Located right outside of Taos, we arrived as the sun was setting, and were given the keys to Dennis. We were also given a card for a free beer at the Taos Mesa Brewery next door. The guy who was working said he would meet us there in a few minutes as others were checking in, and my dog and I headed over to check out our space for the night. What we didn't realize until it was too late, was that there are walkways around the trailers, so you are not sinking in the mud that surrounds the space. My dog and I arrived at Dennis with shoes and paws caked in fresh Taos mud! Dennis was small, as described on the website, and would have been fine, had the sheets been changed and the trash from the previous residents been taken out. (several bottles of wine and some beer) On my way to the Taos Brewery, I stopped in the office, which is a portable trailer, and there was another manager in there. He was really friendly and apologetic when I shared how I was surprised at the condition Dennis was left in and I had expected it to be cleaned appropriately prior to my arrival. He blew me away by offering for me to stay in a different trailer, and assured me that it was clean. When I came back from the brewery, he helped me and my furry companion move to Rosie, which was HUGE and beautiful inside. Rosie was an amazing trailer from the 1950's to stay in, and also had some modern conveniences that I did not expect, like a large fridge and microwave! We relaxed in the seating area and read quite a bit. However, being out on the Mesa, and the weather being below freezing, the heaters in Rosie were working super hard, but the trailer was still chilly. The bed however, was comfy and toasty warm under the comforter, and I slept well and comfortably through the night. I would love to return in the spring, fall, or even summer to experience one of the music festivals that happens next to the brewery here. I love that they are dog-friendly, and the manager went totally out of his way to assure that our stay was even better than expected. This is the perfect little getaway! During this crazy pandemic, I've desperately needed a little R&R, and this was just the place for it. Just a quick drive up from Albuquerque, my sister and I were able to make it an overnight with our pup and escape the busy-ness of life for a bit. It's fairly isolated, which makes it really peaceful and relaxing. I was able to sit outside and enjoy a book (the weather is WAY cooler up here than down in Abq!) , all while taking in the view of the mountains. Make sure to bring up a cooler of food and drinks! There's a little fridge to store stuff, the tap water drinkable since it's fresh from their well, and there are basic utensils, dishes, and some pots and pans. Major bonus: ground coffee and a French press are also included!! read more

Checking in was a breeze and once you're in your glamping RV the rest is paradise. The best relaxing and rejuvenating little place to stay at. Check it was easy once it was time to go. We had an excellent stay here while in Taos! The "Jazzy" camper was adorable and it came with a sunrise and sunset deck. Pros of our stay: - friendly staff - the camper was well maintained and clean - nice "outhouse" shower area - a walk from the brewery (and a free complimentary drink) - incredible Mountain View - comfy bed - some dishes, complimentary coffee, and French press were provided - there was also a closet with an extra blanket, small space heater, and fan Cons (these were minor): - the shower in the camper did not work. Water worked nicely otherwise but could not seem to get enough pressure for the shower head. It was not a far walk to the "outhouse" which was clean, with nice hot water, so it wasn't a huge inconvenience. - the gravel lot can be a little upsetting for a low-lying car - no posted office hours. There was no one in the office so we could check out early. We decided to go into town for breakfast and came back to check out. Overall, this was WELL WORTH the price! If you are looking for a unique, fairly-priced stay, an under-the-radar gem within the under-the-radar gem of Taos, you have got to stay here. Each trailer has thoughtful, artistic touches... ours had trashy books from the 1950s and red exterior lights a-la-Amsterdam. All have decks, fire pits, surprisingly functional kitchenettes and showers, and plenty of heating that comes in handy if you drop by in the snowy season. You will absolutely run into other guests (and probably their dogs) while hanging out on your deck or meandering the open space behind the park. An allegedly awesome brewery/event space is on the other side of the parking lot (it was closed for COVID, unfortunately), and it's a short drive to town (with delectable Mexican food on the way). It's also very close to Arroyo Seco, an adorable town most tourists overlook - be sure to check it out! The hotel is close to good stuff, but the property itself has plenty of space. I vividly remember the unobstructed view of the mountains from our deck, and the breath-taking night sky. More stars than you ever dreamed existed... you might even got lucky and see cosmic swirls and shooting stars. read more

This place exceeded my expectations and then some. If you are looking for a way to experience the mesa in a bit of vintage camping style, then you found the perfect place. I really don't want to post a review, because I was this hidden gem to stay ... hidden. As I rolled up, disoriented and unsure. I was greeted by the owner who couldn't have been more chill and nice. I even got a HUG and two drink tickets for the brewery next door. I stayed in Castor, a sweet little camper on the edge of the grounds facing the Taos ski resort and woah, those sun rises, wowsa! I had many plans to explore the area but something else happened... I was overwhelmed with inspiration and started writing a new book in my little sweet trailer! Hurrah! The magic and enchantment of the area has some sweet healing properties, and I think it is fair to say Castor (my camper) is my new muse. The accommodations were surprisingly luxurious, the bed was so comfy with lots of pillows and gushy comforter, I even had a private toilet / bathroom / shower to use. SCORE! I had read somewhere about packing food, and so glad I did. I noshed on tasty treats while enjoying the sunshine and blue skies and mountains ranges all around. Check out the brewery next door, the beers were underwhelming but the atmosphere and entertainment were both top notch. I even caught a killer band and a two step dance night while I was there. Already plotting my return, this is my new go to chill spot away from 'reality' as I understand it. A dreamy getaway and as private or as social as you'd like it to be. read more

We we're lucky enough to stay in Castor even though it wasn't ready yet. They updated it quickly for our stay and had it in working order, and then some. Amazing craftsmanship and style. Castor was fully outfitted with a stove, fridge,sink, and microwave. Also has a full bath with mini shower. Had so many storage drawers and cabinets too! The property looks over the vast Mesa with a backdrop of the gorgeous mountains and snow caps. Couldn't have asked for better. Amazing find!!! This "hotel" is a collection of decked out Airstream RV's. It was way higher end than glamping, as our RV had a full bathroom, kitchenette, and porch with a fire pit. I am not one to camp nor am I outdoorsy, but waking up to a gorgeous sunset outside the RV was simply beautiful. This place is literally next door to the Taos airport and the Taos dump. Look it up on Google. 'Stayed' in the best one. The place is a super run down trailer park that looks pretty on the outside. The check in was really crappy. They just gave us the key and said walk in. The lady would not even look up for her glass encased box. When I came in to ask about the wifi, she was annoyed and was like 'IT'S ON THE BROCHURE IN THE TRAILER'. I was like 'ma'am, there is nothing in there'. Wow. Literally, there were drawers missing with holes in the cabinets. It was pretty bad. Save ur money and stay somewhere in town. The pictures on the website ARE NOT what this place is like. It looks super cool online. Vintage but not run down. It's actually just old. Save a bunch of money, stay in town and just go and look at this place the same way you would 'look' at spaceship earth. It's worth a look. That's it. We didn't even stay there that night. We ended up drying at the much cheaper Hampton Inn. Also and most importantly, the brewery is closed so there is literally no reason to stay there. There are much cheaper and much more comfortable places. read more

Hotel Luna Mystica was everything I hoped for and more. We stayed in Louise, and she was perfect. The attention to detail inside and outside the vintage campers doesn't go unnoticed. There is a lot of thought that is put into this experience. The views from the porch are breath taking, and let's not forget about the stars at night. Perched on the plains of El Prado, a few miles outside of Taos and 4 miles down the road from the Rio Grande Gorge, is this unique vintage trailer park--a welcoming oasis in the desert. The space has 20+ vintage trailers, each uniquely refurbished, with wooden decks and fire pits. The trailer I reserved, the Dona, is one of the smaller of the bunch but was perfect for one person. Having a refrigerator, microwave, and working stovetop have me all I needed to make breakfast and tea while taking in the mountains and the colorful vistas. The bathroom and shower were quite tiny. If I was only a bit taller or wider, the space might have been challenging. The bed was quite comfy. I slept like a baby, despite the slight draft from the glass slatted windows. In fact, the cold might have helped(?). The management is attentive, even during this particularly strange COVID-19 moment. He answered any questions and gave great suggestions for food and hikes. I am sooooo happy I found this place. It gave me a deeper love of a landscape I already adored. read more

I want to stay here every night for the rest of my life. I'm so obsessed. We were upgraded and were the first to stay in Louise! 10/10 recommend her, she's a beaut. There was everything you could need in there, including a bathroom with a shower, mini fridge, French press and tea kettle! The bathroom on the site was very clean and well kept! We ever had a cute kitty cat come chill with us while we watched the sunset from our little porch. Each site has a fire pit and every evening there's a man that will come with wood and set up the fire for you. Absolutely loved that there was a brewery right by, our site was far from it, so we didn't have any issues with the noise! read more

Incredible spot nestled in the desert 35 minutes outside Taos ski valley. Make sure to stop by the brewery next door for a performance and brews. Campervans are welcomed here, includes hot shower and fast WiFi. No snakes out here either, just occasional wind. read more
