Only rating a 3 because the snow tubing was TERRIBLE! and we paid for parking we couldn't use because apparently it fills up at 9am (even though we saw open spots riding the shuttle??). I had a great time leading to ski. Wes was AMAZING! The snow tubing promised me 8 lanes. There were 3 and it took 6 seconds to get from top to bottom. I have more fun tubing in Indiana than I did there and it was $49 a person. Very very disappointing. Skiing was great though. read more

I went skiing for the first time this weekend and took a lesson with Rodney!! He was an amazing instructor, he had a set of five girls and was very patient with us. Big Bear Mountain is a fantastic, supportive environment for families! We took several ski lessons here and always felt well-taken care of. The staff goes above and beyond, especially Jessica at the front entrance for kids lessons registration. She is lightning-fast at processing tickets and lessons, and she is always willing to help whenever you walk in. Having someone so efficient and friendly makes the whole process so much easier when you're managing kids. We'll definitely be back next season! The mountain is decent, but your gear will go missing if you leave it out. It's the only mountain I've ever been to in 15 countries that Gear goes missing. I brought this up on their Instagram and their account blocked me for mentioning that they have no cameras or any security, and they could care less if anything is stolen on the mountain. This place is definitely family/kid friendly. Parking and lift tickets recommend to pay online. Got in by 8:30am as the parking does get full and it is a Friday. Tickets scanners located everywhere to scan your tickets and receive your card. Card is what you'll keep on you as it lets you enter on the ski lifts. Sections for beginners/intermediate/advanced and a park for skiers/snowboarders to do their tricks. As I am a beginner I didn't experience the other trails. Lodging, stores, food is available to purchase and restrooms nearby. Dog friendly as well. read more

Bear Mountain it's a fun place to ski the runs are great. It gets crowded on the weekends so if at all possible get there on the weekdays.

A solid place to ski! The value of the passes really depends on what time of year it is (i.e. how many slopes are open). A lot of families and beginners, as with many ski resorts, so be careful out there! read more

This place was a waste of time and money! $40 to park and then $54 to sled on a an approx 150 ft area of "snow" and you only get 1.5 hour of sled time. Which they stopped 10 minutes early and it takes about 10 minutes each time you want to get on due to how slow the system they have implemented . Save your time and money and go sledding at alpine village, NO parking fees! Less crowded and unlimited sledding! We spent $300 for a party of 4 to go sledding for an hour and park two cars! CRAZY! Heads up there are NO snow play areas around for the littles. read more

Nearly $1,000 spent on lift tickets, rentals, and parking, and the experience did not match the price at all. Lift access was extremely limited, lines were unreasonably long, and much of the time was spent waiting rather than actually riding. Many guests were visibly frustrated and leaving early because the lifts were effectively unusable. Many guests requested a refund but were denied due to policy despite several guests we spoke with did not use their lift tickets. Even with premium pricing, the resort seemed unprepared to handle the volume of visitors or intentionally oversold and understaffed which appeared to be the case. When issues were raised, staff were dismissive and no meaningful resolution was offered and were very rude. Ill equipped to respond reasonably but even with a professional demeanor, the way this was handled by their staff was unacceptable - listening to a family who clearly were wealthy being accused of fraud for wanting a refund for unused tickets is just not cool. Paying this much and not being able to reasonably use the lifts is not acceptable, and the lack of accountability afterward made it worse. Oversold tickets and refusing to refund customers for unused tickets was very dishonest of them. read more

Big bear mountain I'm sure is great. It's near 2 other very popular snowy mountains. I did not go on big bear mountain specifically during my trip. Instead, I went to snow summit. This review is just to let you know that on Dec 15th, 2024, the snow was consider too icy from many skilled snowboarders/skiers. I love it here! This was the first place I went to learn how to snowboard, and I consider it my safe space. I'm still not good at snowboarding, but it's nice to be familiar with the runs you've done before. I feel like there are a good amount of runs for beginners, and plenty of more challenging runs for those who are exceedingly more skilled. There's a few different places to grab some drinks and just people watch. My son and I sat on the benches to watch the advanced folks zip down the mountain, hit up the half pipe, and slide across the rails in the freestyle area. read more

Skiing in April - enjoying every second of it! Skied on Sunday and Tuesday first week of April. It was man made snow and got icy around noon time but no complain. My son wanted to Snow Board yesterday so we went back to BIG BEAR. This time we tried BIG BEAR MOUNTAIN RESORT. Driving up to Big Bear this time was easier coz the weather was Calm, with no crazy Snow Storm or Tire chain restrictions. But getting nearer to the Facility is what took a bit of traffic, plenty of cars coming in and we waited a bit to find a parking. But we already expected this 'coz we have been to Big Bear multiple times. I really SUGGEST to give yourself a couple extra Hours when going up here in Big Bear coz so many reasons that you may lose your time or reservations. One, for example, is the weather, extreme Snow requires tire chains and that will slow you down by stopping and putting them on, and on Holidays this place is packed. FROM SAN DIEGO it took us 2 1/2 of a drive but we always give ourselves extra 2 hours Early when going here and so far our trip here is always smooth. We arrive at BIG BEAR SKI RESORT, checked in, and went straight inside coz we already got our Snowboard. The place is Big and also has a Good Deck with lots of Tables to sit down and a perfect view to watch my son Snowboarding. After here in BIG BEAR MOUNTAIN RESORT my Son continued to SNOW SUMMIT for the night session. And he said both have a good Slope and he enjoyed both places. And we are happy to hear from them that SNOW VALLEY MOUNTAIN RESORT is now added to their business . read more

This Resort is pretty big and lots of food, bars, and activities to do here. The lift ticket price really depends on the day and it's definitely cheaper if you buy online instead of at the place. The sooner you buy your ticket the next day the price usually goes up in price. They have a bunch of people there to help you with a question if you need help. I love coming to snowboard to big bear mountain resort. This is the first place I had ever came to snowboard and I think it's a great starter point. They have multiple slopes/trails for beginners, intermediate and advanced. The lines move fairly quickly (pro tip: if you're coming in a group, separate and go into a single rider line, then meet up at the top with your friends) line moves even quicker in singe rider. I've came here three times with friends and each time has been nothing but a good experience! All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful especially if it's your first time. Only con is the pricing of the food which is expected considering it's a snow resort. We paid about $35 for 2 cheeseburgers. They offer a wide variety selection of food and drinks! There's plenty of seating areas just dependent on what time you arrive. read more

Very unsafe because of irresponsible snowboarders (sometimes skiers too) My husband just didslocated his shoulder. Was carving down a run on chair 7 and hit REALLY hard by a snowboarder from behind. Had to take the sled down with the ski patrol then ambulance to the hospital to get it reset. Most painful experience of his life. The snowboarder didn't even stop!!! it was awful! He just looked back shrugged his shoulders and kept going he didnt even slow down :( It was at chair 7 yesterday Tuesday March 18th. Can the lift attendenuts help identify this person???? NEVER COMING BACK! SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! My boyfriend and I went skiing on Wednesday March 12th traveling 4 hours to make it here. We were very excited for the experience until we were met with some extremely rude and inappropriate staff members that ruined our outlook on this place permanently. After arriving we had lost one of our lift tickets while going down the first slope requiring us to replace it. Terrible service from everyone who works here especially Michelle from guest relations, a middle aged woman with extreme attitude and inability to control emotions and she snapped at us rudely and slammed her hand on the table out of anger when refusing to take our email receipts as proof of purchase. My boyfriend did not have his ID with him but was able to provide medical documented verification of his identity, pictures of ID and drivers license including proof of purchase, ski lift check in receipt, and even a Costco membership that displays his face and full name clearly but instead Michelle escalated the situation irrationally raising her voice and instead seemed more willing to argue than to help some skiers who did not argue back nor show any signs of unprofessional attitude, instead of listening she was telling us we wasted our time and money as she would not issue any refund for the entire day of skiing we were missing over this dispute. When we calmly asked if we can speak to a manager Michelle paused hard to hand gesture us and violently storm off for 5 minutes. When we finally got ahold of Manager Lisa she was able to process us using the Costco membership within a few minutes so I'd like to say we appreciate Lisa but at this point we had already lost 45 mins of ski time on a day that they were closing early due to the weather (they didn't state online or anywhere when we purchased) the prices are absurd for this kind of service and from what's we've witnessed alot of the staff carries the same attitude, I will never be coming back again and recommending everyone I know to do the same permanently. read more

My daughter was crying. I asked to refund my gear and they refused! Even with the receipt which showed I just purchased the gear 10 min prior. It was a horrible and embarrassing experience for my family! They offered us something similar to "store credit" which we would never use! I will never be back and recommend everyone DO NOT GO! We were in California to celebrate my birthday at Disneyland, but why not add in a snowboarding day too? It was possible due to this place which is about 2.5 hours away from Disneyland! It sure was confusing on what the rules were to get up there though. So many websites said we need chains.... and even if we don't use the chains they need to be in the car. *shrug* So I went to a nearby tire shop and asked them for chains and they were like NO NEED since it's R0. Whatever that means. I still don't know what exactly the rules are but we didn't need chains nor a 4 wheel drive to get there. Ugh... could've saved so much money on the rental car had we just got a regular car. While getting there was a long journey and adventure.... the place was so much fun. They have everything there! Rental, gear, food, lessons, etc. We rented our gear. Then, I got my GF lessons. After she learned how to stop, I took her to the mountain. It was soooooo much fun going down the mountain. We were ready to leave so we went up one last time, but went down the wrong way! So we ended up going somewhere completely off track. We just wanted to get down, but we ended up somewhere where in order for you to go down, you have to go back up. Ugh! We almost didn't make our dinner reservation back in LA. I had a great experience on my first 2 days ever on the snow (at age 52) with beginner snowboarding lessons at Snow Summit and Bear Mountain Resort. My first day was a struggle but the lesson was great. On my second day I was paired up with Chris at Bear Mountain and he took us through the "B" class and got us up on the mountain doing some basic maneuvers. Everybody at the both places were super cool and beginner friendly. Even when I showed up at the wrong resort by accident the first day AND missed my lesson time, they worked me into the next class and made it fun.
