After trying multiple shops and stylists since moving to Alpharetta, I gave Al's a try based on their Yelp reviews. I had a great experience, and he's got me for a customer from now on! I came to Al's after my last stylist showed some very poor/dangerous practices regarding COVID protection for herself and her clients. Al's shop is spotless and completely in line with all recommendations. On top of that, he (Al was my barber) is a maestro barber. I have difficult thick/straight hair, and in the wrong hands, I can look like an unkempt hedgehog. Al (with very little guidance from me) gave me an excellent cut that's holding up well until my next visit - and at about 1/2 the price of the last talented barber I used. Not a great experience. Took my 14 year old got a trim. He very specifically told the "barber" he only wanted the sides cut but not to touch the top as he's been growing it out. Instead of listening to what he wanted the "barber" decided to just cut the top how he wanted. My kid was clearly upset as he has been growing out his hair for some time. The "barber" couldn't have cared less and actually blamed my son for it. Terrible experience. Terrible service. Definitely wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend anyone else to go. read more

I have gotten three haircuts from Al at this barber shop and 2 of the 3 have been just horrible. The first haircut was fine and he did a good job, so when it came time for my next haircut I went back to him. The second time it was like he totally disregarded my instructions. I don't like the tops of my ears to show and he cut the hair so short that the ears poked out and looked like Mr. Spock's ears. He also couldn't get the sideburns even and the cut was way too short. This morning I figured that I would give him one more chance, since maybe he just had a bad day on my second visit. I specifically told him that I wanted the tops of my ears covered, to taper the rear and not to cut it too short. I left the shop with one ear done the way I wanted but the other ear the hair was touching but not covering the top of the ear. So my haircut isn't even. He also cut the hair as if my hair was parted on the opposite side from where I part it, so when he was combing it out and I reminded him that I part it on the right, the cut looks awful now. I will not visit this barber shop again and I recommend others stay away from Al's European Barbershop, and Al the barber. read more

Al is dedicated to his clientele and he instills this behavior in his entire team. There honestly isn't a bad barber in the group. My 8 y.o. son and I go there and it is the only place he has ever looked FORWARD to getting his hair cut. Everyone is friendly, and the new guy, AJ, is great as well. I haven't been lucky enough to have their resident female barber work on my locks as of yet, but I have heard nothing but positives about her. She is friendly, a local, and they all get along so well. The banter between them is worth the cost of the haircut. I used to go to the Silos, and while I like the people, the haircuts aren't as good of quality. read more

Do not come here if you want a hot shave! I have been getting hot shaves for about 5 years and I decided to give Al's Barbershop a try since they just moved into my neighbor and their prices were decent. The youngest of the employees worked on me and unfortunately it was the most miserable experience of my life. I asked prior to him serving me if he has given hot shaves before and he said "yes, about 7-8 of them". That right there should of told me to run away but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I should of ran away. He was very aggressive on my skin and got in a heated argument with another employee while working on me. Once in a while I would look in the mirror and blood was covering my face and had a razor burn like you couldn't believe. Also there were patches of facial hair that he missed!! I told the owner I am very unhappy and he said that the razor burn is normal after a hot shave. NO IT IS NOT! Never in my life have I had a razor burn after a hot shave. THEY SHOULD NOT LET THEIR EMPLOYEES SERVE ON OTHERS WITH NO EXPERIENCE! NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO BACK! Also, their haircuts aren't that impressive. I've received two haircuts from them and they aren't any better than Sports Clips! Save your money and time and take your business else where. So I'm in town for a few days (son's baseball tournament) and I was looking for a quick haircut. What I found was the best haircut I've had in years. My barber followed my instructions exactly -- short on the sides and longer on top -- but made it better. I usually have to wait a week or so before I like or get used to the cut. Not today friends. This cut was different. It didn't make my large head and even larger ears stick out. Plus I got a hot towel razor shave for my neck and sideburns. The price? $18. More important than the price was the fact that the cut is fantastic. (BTW they use a new razor blade for each shave -- I asked.) read more

I got my haircut here in 6 minutes or less. I'm not super particular about my hair, but I asked for half an inch off the top and he cut about 2 inches in length. Best haircut and hot towel shave experience ever! AL was a great person to talk to and is a master of his craft. From the haircut to the application of the pre shave oil to the hot towels to the shave. The man has great taste in music too with Frank Sinatra playing in the background. I've been to Al's a few times over the past few years, but this past Friday was the worst experience. I walked in and didn't ask for a particular barber and was assigned to, I think his name was Buddy. He was obviously not happy that he was asked to cut my hair by AL, during his break. Buddy then proceeded to give me the worst haircut I've received in the past several years. I asked him to use scissors on the top and what he did cannot be described as anything that even remotely resembles a professional haircut. I tried to fix some of the problem with the lop sidedness myself with my clipper, when I got home, but I'm considering just walking into Super cuts after my $20 haircut at Al's. I hope Al takes the time to vet his future barbers out before he subjects his patrons to this atrocity! read more
