When I moved back to Colorado in 2016 I found that my barber had moved from Roosters Belmar to this location. Dannae had always done an excellent job there and I have never been disappointed. So for me, it was a no brainer to follow her here. This shop is a little outdated, however, everyone is friendly. There is no wi-fi. I should have left this review many years ago and I know it won't make much of a difference now, since Al's is closing this month, but I just wanted to say that AL and Sheryl have been cutting my family's hair for thirty-five years and we will miss this place! I have always enjoyed listening to the banter of the shop, which included everyone messing with each other, or picking on grumpy old AL. It was very emotional for me to get my final haircut by AL this past weekend, but I had to finish where it all started. For those who may not know, after they put AL out to pasture, or in large plastic bags depending on his level of grumpiness over the next couple weeks, the girls will be moving to Flair Do @ 1921 Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80214 (303) 233-4112. The people at this shop are creepy. They have bogus parking signs out front and will absolutely come and take pictures of you sitting in your car if you're dropping stuff off at another business. I even saw them get in the face of an old lady with a walker for having parked in front of their shop. The parking lot is tiny. Look out for the blonde bimbo who will take photos outside your windows. read more

This is a true diamond! Al's is an old school barbershop! His prices are insanely reasonable at $15 for a cut. For us though, he is so kind and gentle my son just lights up getting a haircut which can be a challenge for a toddler on the spectrum. His picture is worth a thousand words! This is a great neighborhood, family-owned business. My son hasn't had a haircut all summer and Al had him looking sharp in the wink of an eye. Not that he was in any rush. He asked my son what he wanted (and was true to form), cut his hair with a grace and authority only 30 years at the chair can give, trimmed him up and styled. My son looked older and handsome -- a proper young man with a proper haircut (slightly longer everywhere with the front styled up). He loves his cut so much he asked to go to the store and buy pomade(!). It was a Saturday and there seemed to be three barbers on shift, including Al. It's cash or check only. The tattoo shop next door has an ATM, though. Bring quarters for the candy dispensers if your kids (or you) want a little handful of sweets after your cut. Everyone is friendly and relaxed. I gave four stars for the cut, service and price but it should be at an overall 3.5 because the tv had on a channel with content (Living Dead zombies, people gagged and tied up) that my little girl should not see or hear, and the tables could have been straightened out since it was slow. This place is great! I just went here for the first time today and had a wonderful experience. I love the old-school feel to this barbershop and the great assortment of all the old decorations including a great assortment of old beer cans. Cheryl cut my hair and did a great job. I love the fact that they use a straight razor blade at the end of the haircut, where many of the major chain shops don't. The service was very fast and I only had to wait about 10 minutes before having my haircut. The price is very affordable and the quality much better than the major chains out there. No appointments necessary! They except both cash and checks so make sure you bring either of those when you visit. This place seems to cater more towards men so if you are a woman looking for a good style try calling first to see if it is a good fit. I would highly recommend this local and affordable barbershop over any of the major chains out there! read more

Honestly astounded that this man is still in business. This barber is cash only despite not having any signs indicating so. Had to go to the ATM next door and pay a $3 fee. Not worth the time for a mediocre haircut, save yourself the trouble and go to the great clips a half mile away. read more

I saw 3 good reviews and 1 bad one, so I figured that one person was being unreasonable. He wasn't. First, Al was going to start cutting my hair without asking what I wanted until I stopped him and explained what I wanted. He cut my hair and it was terrible. Then I gave him directions on how to clean it up. After my haircut, I went to clean the hair off and look closer in the mirror, I noticed how terrible it still was. I waited until he finished his next client for him to take another shot at it. He ignored my directions to not touch the top while still not fixing the sides. This guy was a disaster! It took him 3 tries and it came out worse every time. I'm sure he does haircuts well for older folks and kids, but for a 20 something that works in business and needs to look sharp, avoid this place. Al was a nice enough guy and has a great collection of beer cans and bottles, but as someone who cut hair for a year (Marine barber - all I did was fades similar to what I asked for) it's a slap in the face for someone to give so little effort and care so little about how someone is going to look for the next month. If he gave a crap and listened to his customers, he might have a great business. Please do better for the next people Al, because I'm never coming back. read more

Sheryl cut my hair and trimmed my beard. This was the first time I ever had anyone trim my beard. She did a great job. I am not local but do business in the area often so I hope to be back again. I am not the type of fella that has to have the same barber cut my hair all the time. I just need a good men's hair cut. And if something is not quite right, well, in four weeks time all will be resolve. This is an "old school" straight razor barber shop. If this is what you are looking for...come on in. I've been going to Al's for 4 years now. He has been cutting hair for 30 years. All I do is walk in once a month, sit down, chat for a bit and wish him well until the next month. I wear a flat top haircut and anyone else that wears one knows it isn't easy to find someone to do a good one. Al is your man. Cheryl also works there and she does a fantastic job too (and you can feed your Girl Scout cookie craving this time of year!). The haircut only costs $11. Al is the real deal has been cutting hair for most of his life. After I got out of the Marine Corps it was very difficult to get a halfway decent haircut, so I went out and has been cutting my rug for the last 15 years. He's funny and does a great job every time. read more
