We contracted with a local tile family company, Yazmin Tile in Tavernier who had a competitive quote.........Hoping for a completion within 2 weeks, and it came in at 2 1/2 weeks.......We choose them to avoid dealing with a large big box store and to keep the work local. Did we have a few glitches....yes, but show me a kitchen remodel that doesn't.....But, we were able to work with Michael and genuinely think they aim to please..... The main issue was the 2 main workers, did not speak English and I had a spattering of Spanish, so several issue could have been avoided there. They were both very hard workers who never stopped, and moved at a fast speed.....They did their best to keep the dust down and the trash gone...Stuck everything we could behind doors of two bedrooms. We really like the quiet close kitchen cabinets and the quartz counters we chose.....Both of good quality.

However as our installation proceeded in several rooms over the next few months the initial kindness I encountered seemed to wane. There was poor communication at times, as well. He set us up for a measurement and took $100 deposit. After the measurement, Vince called us with a quote, $4,220 for approx. 500 sq ft. He would call us for scheduling within a week. Sounds good. . We found a higher quality carpet on their website. We went back to Dolphin Carpet and Tile. Same deal. One car in the parking lot. They had the upgraded carpet. Great. The quote went from $4200 to $5200 for under 500 square feet. We picked the best padding and the best carpet they had. We agreed. Get it right! We were all eager to get the ball rolling on the carpet job. We paid 1/2 of quote up front. Vince called back. Saturday, morning. They will call before they arrive. Great. We moved everything but the heaviest furniture. A husband and wife team showed up 9:00am. They made me sign and initial several agreements and pay the total $5220 before anything got started. That seemed shady. They laid the carpet on the road out front to measure and cut. Everything was going slow, but still ok until we noticed that they were measuring our couch and then splicing a 3ft by 3ft piece of carpet in the first room, which is our living room. We took pictures of the installer doing his splicing job and called Vince, and sent the picture. Vince's tune changed from that moment on. He treated me like I was stupid and didn't know anything about carpet installation. He didn't acknowledge the mistake of not bringing enough carpet. Their measurement was 3 feet short. After that conversation, Vince stopped communicating with me. I emailed him and told him I would haul the extra carpet, in my van, needed for completion ,without having an obvious patch in my living room. Silence. Vince has not responded to my requests for some sort of compensation for their mistake. No apology. No repair. No anything. They got the total $5220. We have an obvious patch in our living room.
