Wow! I brought 28 adults to tour Ohio and a favorite spot was Al's. They have been around since once 1985. Although, Al has passed the new owners are keeping the hometown feel. The tour takes us through the popping process, seasoning and flavoring to packaging and shipping. Fascinating process, still with love by hand! And oh, the sampling of unique flavors from Jalapeño cheddar to Lavender Chai and every imaginable flavor in between! The tour takes about an hour with in depth, knowledgeable "poppers" who explain each process. A great experience for all ages. I was initially introduced to Al's Popcorn from Jayme's Elite event she did here once. It was a great experience and so I decided to come back more often and get my favorite flavor of vanilla butternut. Al's does a great job letting their customers try all the Popcorn before purchasing them. I love the flavor options as well. The seasonal are just as great. This is a fun gourmet popcorn shop that offers more than 60 flavors. It is definitely hard to choose. The worker seemed a little irritated when we wanted to try some flavors, but there is no point in spending a lot of money for a flavor you will not like. I have had the Columbus mix before, which is addictive! It is my favorite. The Columbus mix has white cheddar and vanilla buttnernut. The perfect mix of salt and sweet. I tried the birthday cake, it was way too sweet for my liking. The pizza flavor I did not care for. I thought the white cheddar by itself was very salty. Nothing topped the Columbus mix for me, so ended up getting two medium bags of it. Medium bags are a pretty good size. I absolutely love popcorn and Al's is delicious! I remember coming here as a kid and trying all the fun flavors. I'd kind of forgotten about them until we had a yelp event with them a while back. Then at Christmas when I was trying to shop for some difficult-to-shop-for people, I thought of Al's and knew popcorn would be the perfect treat! And a great way to support a local business. As expected, they were were really poppin' at the holidays (pun intended). You can order ahead online but I didn't think of it in time to do it before their deadline for Christmas. Next year I will be smarter. The staff is friendly and helpful. You can sample the flavors too. The Columbus mix and White Cheddar are probably my favorites so far. My husband loves the buckeye one. Ok, ok, I see you Al's Delicious Popcorn! Glad I finally paid you a visit and I know I'll be coming back! I first fell in love with popcorn after living in Chicago for a couple years. Garrett's popcorn was close to my office and the smells and yummy flavors eventually got me. I've been hooked on the Chicago style mix ever since. Now, after being in Columbus for a couple years, I can say I found my Garrett's replacement, and it might be even better! I got a medium bag the Chicago mix (of course!) and experimented with one of their funky flavors. I'm a sucker for anything lavender and when I saw they had a lavender and chai tea flavor, I was sold. I had to try it! So I grabbed up a small bag of that to try too. Needless to say, both are delicious and only a few days later, both are almost gone. I really appreciate the amount of flavor each piece of popcorn has. We all know we search for the cheesiest piece in the bag, the one with the most seasoning, similar to chips in a Doritos bag, gimme all the flavor! The staff here was beyond friendly, everyone was in masks, wearing gloves, and social distancing in the shop. Let me just say WOW! You open the door and are hot with a sugary, buttery, savory smell that takes you back to childhood, or the movies, home movies, your kitchen! It's magical! Very clean shop, organized well, tons of staff and more importantly, tons of popcorn to choose from! If you want sweet, savory, or salty this is the place!!! I can't believe I just now discovered this store! I'm blown away by how many flavors they have - many of them pretty unique! The menu is big, so it was hard for me to narrow down which flavors to try! I ordered the pumpkin pie, s'mores, and piña colada in a size small. All of them were delicious! The flavor was spot on. It is a bit sweet, but that's to be expected. The small size was plenty and decently priced for specialty popcorn. If you're craving something more savory, they also sell savory popcorn, pretzels and nuts. I like the fact that you can watch them fill your bags with popcorn from all the different drawers they have in the back. And of course, it smells incredible inside! Al's is still the best damn popcorn in the land! One of my awesome employees gifted me $25 bucks to this place so I went and grabbed a couple of bags for my staff. To my surprise they had completed re-branded and made this place over. I was always kind of nervous about whether or not they were going to stay in business, but from the looks of it they are still much alive and kicking. The inside is beautiful, more professional and modern look. Don't get me wrong, I loved the previous look. But this one is nice as well! The GOOD: So many varieties and flavors, my favorite is the Peanut Butter Extreme! The BAD: Wish they had more locations. The UGLY: Wish they stayed open later! I just recently stumbled upon this business when I was given a small bag of Columbus mix popcorn as a gift and wow now I'm obsessed!! I stopped by the week of Christmas to place a holiday order. When I got there, the line was out the door (so I guess this place is actually a big deal..). I waited because I really wanted bags of popcorn for stocking stuffers/secret Santa gifts this year. They got through the line pretty quickly and the staff is incredibly kind for how busy they are during this time. They have over 60 flavors of popcorn, so definitely something for everyone. They also have a variety of sizes (bags to tins that hold three flavors). Next year I will definitely be ordering ahead of time online because some flavors were sold out when I went in. If you have a large order, I recommend checking out the online ordering rather than going in store and planning ahead! I know they ended up turning off the online ordering due to the high volumes. However, if you have last minute things to get, they are open and this popcorn is definitely worth the wait. I ended up buying the Chicago mix, Columbus mix, cheddar cheese, and vanilla butternut. I also heard that the spicy queso, chocolate bowl, and snicker doodle are awesome flavors too. Um, OKAY Al's! This stuff is SO yummy. I've never been to the actual popcorn shop, but I received a small gift bag of Al's Popcorn from my apartment complex for the holidays. When I first received it, I thought the festive green and red coloring was very cute, but I was a bit hesitant about the flavor I was given. So I've had this little bag of popcorn sitting in my pantry for the past two weeks, just thinking to myself, "Vanilla Butternut popcorn? Sounds weird." Guys, IT'S NOT WEIRD and it's SO good! I was very pleasantly surprised when I finally had a taste. You can definitely pick out the notes of both traditional butter flavor as well as the slightly sweeter vanilla, but none of the flavors are overpowering whatsoever. I'm kind of shocked, but they really mesh together well and make for a delicious treat. I'm on board! My first venture into Al's was for a free Yelp Elite small popcorn deal. I tried my Salted Caramel, man it was GOOD, so I went right back - one can never have too many goodies to satiate over the holidays, right... I was even more intrigued with all their flavors of popcorn, so I got a few more bags of different flavored popcorn to take home for the coming low-key holiday weeks. I've known about Al's for several years, but I never tried their flavored popcorn. Naturally, I was always quizzical, so I was excited when this Yelp Columbus Elite perk event came to fruition. They have lots, and lots, and lots of flavors to pick from; something like over 40 savory, salty, spicy and sweet (duh!). Their Bethel location is on the smaller size, but there's double, maybe triple the amount of space behind the counter (where all the magic happens, folks!). From the looks of the back-room hustle and bustle when I was there, they must do a fantastic online/shipping business; they were in the process of loading a delivery van to the brim when I was there, so there's your reassurance. Three menu boards full of flavored popcorn to choose from ("Original", "Cheese & Sweet", "Specialty"). Price is based on bag/tin size; several sized bags to pick from. They've got a good system for bagging their freshly baked concoctions: Giant drawers line the entire walls and floor space; big plastic tubs/bins are in teach drawer, and those house the different flavored popcorn. The popcorn is flavored and baked on the spot, so I'm sure you can get lucky and get popcorn hot outta the oven, mmmmm! I chose Salted Caramel (obviously!), Buckeye (I'm feverishly addicted to pb in any form), and Caramel Cashew. I wanted to try the Almond Pecan Delight, but they were out and baking more currently; I didn't have enough time to wait, so I'll definitely go back (twist my arm, wink wink!). The Salty Caramel is delish!! I've never eaten caramel corn that's been so darn covered in the sweet liquid! Most popcorn is half-n-half - just tossed in their caramel mixup, still showing plenty of the fluffy white popcorn. Al's covers it, and I mean CO-VERS every inch of every single puff. That's value, folks! I'm a peanut butter addict, so I don't even need to say anything about the Buckeye, except BUY. IT. NOW. And the Caramel Cashew? Salty meets Sweet, long walks on the beach, marriage, happily ever after, you know the story. If Al's was eHarmony, I'd totally get on that list for a date with their popcorns candidates!! read more

What a treat Al's is! I had the pleasure of offering some of their delicious flavored popcorn to my guests at an event, and the whole process was excellent. Upon walking in, the space is open and clean with a long counter and a pretty big back-of-house area. There is a large board on the left side with a list/sample jar of all of their flavor offerings so you can see what they look like. They keep a backstock of almost everything, so if you see something on the board that you like, you can ask them to bag some up fresh for you. They have tons of intriguing, delicious flavors like Lavender and Chai, which is of course purple. For my event, I was able to call ahead and order the quantity that I needed. Each 'large' bag comes split into two different bags, and you can opt for the heat-sealed bags to guarantee a longer shelf-life, which is what I did. I ordered their Vanilla Butter flavor because they said it was the most popular, and they were happy to customize it and make it red for me! It was absolutely amazing and I ended up with enough to use at not just the one event, but the next one also. At both events, guests raved about how delicious the popcorn was, and I love the pop of color it added in all the photos. I will definitely be back for more popcorn in the future! read more

I've been going to Al's for years. I used to work close to their Bethel Road location and found myself there on my lunch break on a regular basis. I love that you can sample any and all of their flavors before making your purchase. They offer a wide variety of flavors. From sweet to savory to spicy. My most recent trip I grabbed the Rice Krispie Treat and English Toffee. Rice Krispie Treat is my absolute favorite and I always get it when I'm there. I love how the marshmallow is almost taffy-like. This was the first time that I have had English Toffee and it was very good. Similar to their Caramel Corn, but richer. There are markers on the floor for social distancing and they only allow a certain number of people in the store at once. You can also order delivery through Grub Hub and not have to leave the house! read more

The store was very clean and smelled incredible with all the handmade gourmet popcorns. They had over 65 flavors, including gluten free and vegan options. I had a hard time picking mine because they all sounded so good. But I finally landed with one speciality savory flavor - cheeseburger, and the other one is sweet flavor - lavender and chai tea. Both were delicious! They had different sizes of bag to pack the popcorn per your choice, and also had gift packages for special occasions. The staff were very friendly, and the price was reasonable. For me that's always the top selling point because if I would bring a friend of mine who's lives out of town it must be worthwhile. I decided to for Christmas give my family this year a subscription that I created of their popcorn so I can spread the love so I will be there at least 12 times this year and will get to try 12 myself haha. Al's is amazing! OMG I love this popcorn and it is very delicious. I am originally from Columbus, Ohio and have lived outside of Ohio for 9 years now. My parents who live in Hilliard told me about Al's last year after my mom created a contract to use them at Ohio State University in their dining program. I am so glad that when I was home last year I got to try Al's and visit the shop on Bethal Road. This popcorn is amazing and the different flavors are so good. We have been told that when Al's goes to create a flavor, they spend months trying to make this flavor work. Once they know the got the flavor palate down perfectly, they release it to the masses. Some of my favorites are the Chicago Mix, Cincinnati Chili, and Peanut Butter Extreme. The Chicago mix is caramel corn, cheese corn and regular corn mixed together. Unlike other Chicago Mix's, your hands are not super greasy after eating this popcorn. The Cincinnati Chili was amazing and tasted like you just finished a Skyline Coney dog after each bite. The Peanut Butter Extreme is just awesome if you are a peanut butter fan. Every bite is amazing and the popcorn is super fun to eat. When at the store they provide tons of samples and you can get it wrapped in clear plastic bags. I have used this popcorn as gifts for friends and other people. This is one of those places that I keep going by but never take the time to go in- then regret the time lost. I love popcorn, and knew this was a "gourmet popcorn" place, but was skeptical, mainly due to the mall it's in. But there are some hidden gems here, so it's worth poking around the mall and having some good food. Al's has a large selection of flavors, and assorted tins, etc., to put them in if you're all fancy. I just wanted popcorn, and they sell it in bags. Big bags. I saw the prices and got a couple of medium bags for about $10 each, thinking they would be roughly the size of a bag of chips, maybe a little overpriced but worth the splurge for some nice flavors. Well, I should have checked out the bag sizes on the wall, because smalls would have been plenty. Two mediums is a ton of popcorn, even for a family and with some sharing at work. Large and extra large are massive. I got pistachio, and vanilla butternut. Both flavors are excellent. The kernels are big and puffy, and the corn is so good I had a hard time stopping myself from eating and eating. Service was very good, prices are excellent for the quantity and quality, and I will be back for more soon. They have a few pops and candies, if you need to cover all the food groups. read more
