Stopped in to the Marble Cliff shop to pick up a few Valentines sweets. I appreciate having such a high quality, family-owned chocolate shop near us. It's fewer and far between that these charming boutique candy and sweets stores are still in business. I'm happy to support Anthony Thomas. We ended up getting the mini Valentines packs of chocolates, chocolate covered marshmallows, and chocolate covered candied orange peels (these are tasty!!). They also carry the gamut of truffles, filled chocolates, buckeyes, some fudge, bark, boxed variety packs, and a selection of nuts. This is a great little store for what it offers! Four stars because we were the only ones in the shop and I found the service to be somewhat aloof. read more

I had searched online to see who locally carried the chocolate buckeye treats that are so popular in the area and discovered that Anthony Thomas does. I have driven by this store on 5th Ave in Grandview thousands of times and never stopped in. So I finally did last week to pick up a gift of buckeyes for a friend that moved out of Columbus years ago. When I entered the shop it was like stepping back in time. It smelled of chocolate but it also had a hint of that old smell, you know what I'm talking about I'm sure. There was one employee helping one customer. The employee seemed in no hurry to help that customer and she never looked over just to greet us, smile our way, or even mention that she would be with us next. We quickly picked up a box of buckeyes and then waited what felt like an eternity to actually pay for the buckeyes. My biggest suggestion to this Anthony Thomas shop would be to employee a person that is actually friendly, warm, you know maybe someone that IS a people person. The woman working never spoke to us. Never greeted us. Never thanked us. Nothing. Absolutely absent of personality. My first experience at this store will be my last. There was nothing inside that store that is willing me to come back. read more

I may be biased as a Columbus native, but Anthony-Thomas is the BEST. Once you try a buckeye from here you won't go back. The boxed chocolates are a great holiday gift and decently priced as well. read more

I am so disappointed in what I saw this Christmas at Anthony Thomas - a chocolate handgun. I have always loved the candy from AT and the feel of the store, but I am sickened at the idea that a child might get a chocolate gun in their Christmas stocking. Anthony Thomas, please consider the children who have died and reconsider the selling of this item! read more

I strongly support local businesses like Anthony Thomas which is why I feel compelled to write a review with a couple suggestions. There are some things that AT does well; fudge, toffee, bark, cherries, candy buckeyes. Walking into the store is a bit nostalgic for anyone who grew up in Columbus and went with their parents or grandparents to an AT store to buy the cream mints for a baby shower, jordan almonds for a wedding or a big bunny for Easter. That was then. This is now. When I walked in, I hoped to see at least a few updates....maybe a salted caramel, pretzel bark, a new cream flavor, soft caramels, but to no avail. Don't get me wrong, I get it. It's tradition in Columbus and you don't monkey with tradition. It would have been nice, but it's just not going to happen. 50% of the handpicked candy I purchased tasted like it had been sitting in the case for way too long. The walnut caramel was hard and tasted like the wrapper. 50% of it was good, but not stellar. Long story short, if I want the classics, things I know are good there, I'll still go...especially if it's for someone I know likes Anthony Thomas. Anything else, I would recommend that you taste before you buy! read more

I am giving this place 5 stars because they have sugar free chocolates that you forget are sugar free. My wife and I have been trying to eat healthy and part of our plan was cutting out sugary sweets and refined sugars. Last night we wanted something sweet and couldn't find anything so we settled for nothing. Today, I saw this wonderful little shop and thought they might have what we wanted. I was not disappointed. I bought 6 pieces of Sugar Free Chocolate for about $4.20 (They have a 4 piece sampler for $3.95). They look expensive at $21.95 per pound but a full pound would be close to 30 pieces depending on your flavors. They have butter, peanut butter, or chocolate cream filled. They have pecan, almond, cashews filled ones. They have probably 12 different flavors in all. My wife and I were very pleased with the six I bought. I would recommend these chocolates for the person cutting out sugar but still needing something sweet once in awhile. Parking can feel a little odd as I wasn't sure if I blocked anyone in or if I was parking in the correct place. One could park on the road if they choose. I also enjoyed talking to the lady working in the store. She was very helpful and very friendly. I know they have many other options but I enjoyed their sugar free options for today. read more

Anthony Thomas started here in Columbus but their fudge is known worldwide. Not as fancy as the gold boxed Godiva, Anthony Thomas sells simple, and simply good candy. When I was a little girl I would always beg my parents to take me to this store. The inside feels like walking into the center of a chocolate fudge brownie. The dark brown candy laid out on the white wax paper reminds me of the opening scene of Willy Wonka. The store sells more than fudge, but that should be your first taste. I like their chocolate covered cherries that come in a red foil wrapper. The chocolate letters spell good times for my belly. The exotic white chocolate is tasty as well. The candy is made on site and the staff wears white coats and hairnets so you know that claim is real. They are great for selecting the perfect confection amongst all the choices. The parking here is tight so around the holidays it might be worth your while to park off site and walk. You will need the walk after all the taste testing you will do inside. read more
