This place has been around for years, ever since I was a little kid. They were closed down for a few months/years at one point though because I heard they had failed some sort of inspection, which could have been a health inspection. Their prices have hardly gone up, and I think it's because the volume of people that they serve is high and so they are able to make a profit even when their prices are so low. I think one of their best dishes is the crispy taco, which is still a corn tortilla but put on the burner until it is crispy. However, if you are in a rush, I recommend that you do not get the crispy taco since it takes a while to prepare. If you get the standard 2 tacos, you'll pay around $2 for a meal (if you add cheese) and you'll get the food in less than 5 minutes. The salsa could be more flavorful and less watery but overall, the food here is great considering the price that you pay. Very quaint outdoor, grab and go style food service. Plenty of parking, near downtown and the freeway. No seating available. But very quick service to take home. The line was long(so you know it's good) but they go to us super quickly, tops 10 mins. We ordered the tacos combo, the burrito and horchata. We got two carne asadas, cabbage, mild salsa, lemon, and ordered cream cheese (this is the ticket right here) in the combo along with pinto beans and rice--and it was SO GOOD! The burrito had grilled beef, extra cream cheese, rice and beans along with the cabbage and it was also really yummy--I topped it with salsa. Preface: So, I've never been against the mask mandate, I've used a mask since the beginning and I've never had an even slightly strange moment involving a mask. I have stopped here numerous times in the morning in the past month and the first time -- I noticed several people ordering from this outside location without masks, some with masks. So after noticing I had forgotten my mask and searching my vehicle for one I approached the outdoor window and they luckily they took my order. Without question. Each morning. Up until today -- I pulled up as usual I'm standing far from the outdoor counter and the main lady asks "do you have a mask?" I reply "I don't think so, but I will check." I go to my vehicle and search through to find out I had left my mask at home. Granted, in the mornings I take my son to his grandmas and then go straight home to get ready for the day. Recently I have been stopping at Al Rico's and they've been allowing me to order maskless. However on this day I return from my vehicle without a "mask" but I did completely cover my nose and mouth with my T-shirt and she said "if you don't have a mask, leave" I asked her why they had been serving me prior days. Which she replies "I wasn't here". To imply that there are different sets of rules for different people. I asked her why my nose and mouth being completely covered by my T-shirt wasn't enough or why it was different from the paper mask that she had on that had less cover. She wouldn't answer me, because there was no difference she was just being mean for whatever reason. Now, I live incredibly close to this place and she has most definitely taken my order maskless numerous times. I recognized her as would anyone recognize her that lives in the area -- and before you ask -- I am always polite and I always tip... I will not return here because I'm fairly certain this had absolutely nothing to do with a mask -- but it almost felt like cause I'm a güero, where I live it, happens often. My family has been coming here for 2 generations. My Tia loves the breakfast burritos, the cheap but good tacos, she is disabled and I am the one who gets food for her and helps her around. This has been really disappointing, she was very rude, and a liar -- to someone who lives and works in the community... I understand precautions, but even after covering my nose and mouth securely I was still refused service without any explanation... All my family got was asada tacos. We got a total of 14 asada tacos & the total was $11 and some change. The tacos were good, not anything life changing but for the price!? We got a lot of tacos & fed the whole family for under $12!! If the food wasn't such a good price I'd have given them 3 stars but like I said the price makes it 4 stars for me lol. Some of the best tacos in town. Ive been having these since the were 2/$1 back when I was a kid. Now as an adult I still enjoy them and best part is the price. There about $1 each now. This has been my favorite taco spot for years, I go to the Marks and Ashlan location and I get the EXACT same thing every time. I went on 2/16/23 and a different lady was working the window, I asked for my usual taco order with cheese and the price is higher than normal. She says that is the correct price, I show her the receipts from previous times, she says the other lady is wrong and has been wrong (over a hundred times?) All of a sudden she can't speak good english so good, acts dumb and shrugs her shoulders. I went across town to the Ventura location and the price is what it always is, yeah it was only a little more, but I hate being overcharged and/or charged wrong especially when I can show what i've been charged before. Not sure i'll go back even if the regular lady (who's actually really nice) is there. The second time I've been here to have the tacos and you can't beat the price. 2 for $1.35 is awesome, but unfortunately, this time I came I didn't enjoy them as much. The food is served out of a shack, and it gets pretty hot waiting outside in the heat. I went with my vegetarian friend and they were nice enough to give her bean tacos, but she wasn't a huge fan (but she knew that the taste wouldn't necessarily be the same, but shes had good vegetarian tacos before). I had the chicken and beef tacos. The beef tacos were tasty and juicy, but the chicken was pretty dry. The area is a little sketchy, but I've gone in the daytime and it was fine. If you need a cheap meal and are craving tacos, these will do the trick but I probably will head to other places. read more

This is a very good Mexican place with extremely fair prices! The food was delicious, especially for the cheap price that everything was at. There's no seating area, and it's like a little shack that serves food. Unfortunately, they have long waiting times (~10 mins) between ordering and getting the food if there's even a bit of a line, but that's because everything is freshly cooked made-to-order. An absolute must if you're looking for quick, delicious and cheap. This place is the epitome of "hole in the wall" Mexican food. But the tacos are spectacular. Last time I was there they were selling them for 75 cents each. They are a bargain, so order 4 for yourself. We eat here every time we're in Fresno. Let me add something. If you're looking for a trendy upscale hip taco place this is NOT it. This is the epitome of "hole in the wall" dining. So if you turn your nose up at "ugly" restaurants then don't go here. But for those of us who know what good mexican food tastes like, and could care less about how the restaurant looks, this is it. Oh... and there are only park benches outside to sit on, so don't come all dressed up. UPDATE: Al's Ricos Tacos are closed up. Closed shop, finished, kaput, gone... Now what? Well... since they no longer exist, I've dropped their Rating from a 5 star must visit to a 1 star, don't bother. But there is good news. Lola's Rico Tacos is just up the street.
