They also had music playing on a speaker and then had live music around noon, which contributed to a livelier mood, a truly perfect ambiance that made it hard to leave at the end of our meal. I went out with my significant other today (Sunday) and unfortunately had a really disappointing experience. I ordered a horchata and a fish filet. I took one bite of my food and ended up not eating it because it just wasn't good it's was so disgusting . The horchata was honestly the worst part. It tasted extremely sour and disgusting, and the milk tasted like it was spoiled or moldy. I've had much better horchata before, and this completely ruined my mood, especially after spending a good amount of money. I probably should have complained and asked for a refund, but I didn't want to be "that person." Wow Hidden Gem in Fresno! It made me feel like I'm eating on somebody's patio only with portable AC units for those hot Fresno summer afternoons. Place is absolutely beautiful and the service was outstanding! Brenda was my server and truly the best. She gave me the recommendation for the Carne Asada plate which came out very quick. The food was hot fresh and on point. Carne Asada was cooked perfectly sitting on a bed of grilled onions and grilled jalapeños cooked perfectly. I am a Mexican rice snob as seen in previous reviews and this didn't miss. Charo beans were perfect with bacon and a grilled jalapeño in it WOW. El Patio has a really nice ambiance and a relaxed vibe that makes it an easy place to settle in. Prices are decent, and the margaritas are a generous size. I didn't try the mega or extra-large margarita, but I've heard it's humongous. The only downside was the service. Even though the restaurant wasn't very busy, things moved slowly, and it took quite a while to get our check. That's the only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five. That said, I'd definitely come back -- especially to try more dishes and, eventually, one of those legendary margaritas. read more

We were passing through and craving tacos so I started looking through Yelp to find a place and El Patio won! When you walk in, it's like a festive backyard party. There was a live band singing a variety of music that we really enjoyed. Our server was excellent, friendly and attentive. We ordered two steak tacos and a chicken quesadilla. As we waited for our food, we continued to enjoy the band and the chips and salsa. When our food arrived, we were pleasantly surprised with how much food you got for the money, The quesadilla is definitely big enough to share. This time we opted for a Michelada flight (omg chefs kiss) so worth it! I also tried the enchilada omelette, LOVED IT! The shredded chicken inside is so well flavored and I opted to get half red AND half green salsa on my enchilada (thank you to our waitress who saw I was torn with trying to decide on one and offered this) so well made! I was disappointed for many reasons. The patio is gorgeous and my only favorite part about this restaurant. The service was 5/10. The main reason I will not return. They are very disorganized and inconsistent with explaining alcoholic beverages prices/deals. The huevos rancheros were supposed to be on a tostada, they drenched them in tomato sauce making them soggy. The meat was very salty. It was incredibly delicious and the chicken was so tender. My friend got the Bistec Ranchero which was so tasty as well. The portions were so generous and we had such a great experience! Lunch date with my teen daughter. Food was amazing as always. I ordered the enchilada plate with chili verde sauce. My kid ordered the taco salad. The enchiladas were so delicious and fresh tasting. The taco salad had a light crispy shell filled with yummy goodness. Shredded beef and all the toppings no onions. The strawberry margarita was really good. It was cool and had the chamoy spice & tajin around the rim. There was live music and they were so good. The singer sang beautifully I love having some food bonding time with my kiddo. We decided to try this place for lunch and it did not disappoint! The service was absolutely amazing- Cass went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Not only did she give great customer service when we were alone on the patio but the moment the tables got full she still kept the same level of service . While enjoying my day off to celebrate all of the veterans my friends and I decided to meet up at El Patio restaurant. This was my first time at this restaurant. I will say parking is tight so get there early. I really like how they had a menu for margarita flights that you could try anytime of the day. We were greeted by the servers Who provided a wonderful outside location to dine at. Shortly after we were provided chips with a spicy salsa that hit the spot. For my refreshment I chose to go with the spicy cucumber jalapeno margarita which was excellent! My meal was the taco salad with chicken. I appreciated the attentiveness of the staff and after we ordered our food it wasn't long until we could see it and it's true state. Tortillas that should come with a meal as mentioned in the menu per entrée. Salsa and Chips, When paid extra.We pay extra because we know it might be forgotten, Salsa, Green , Red , habanero, Sauces that come with a meal. It's always something. The thing that gets me is We ask in the notes to please not forget the salsa's and Tortillas if They should come with the meal as per listed in the menu. Tonight we noted to ad salsa on the side with my wife's Chile Verde meal. Someone responded. They rudely stated salsa comes on the meal ? well we got the Chile Verda, There was no sauce at all, just chunks of pork. Staff may not acknowledge you while you wait, but once you sit down, they take care of you. The enchiladas el patio were made vegetarian and the red sauce is delicious every time I've had it. I can taste the spice and flavor... probably some of the best enchiladas I've ever had. Micheladas are good too. We also got some habanero and chili oil to go and wished we asked for it with our meal. The salsas are fire and flavorful! Their kitchen space is small yet they utilize their space very well. That's also the same space where the bathroom is. The only knock is there's only 1 bathroom - but it can't be helped. I found this restaurant on yelp so decided to stop by on our way back home from Anaheim. We pulled up and there was a homeless guy with his pants down right outside of the restaurant, decided to come in anyway but shouldn't have. Patio was very nice and full of patrons. My 4 year old son needed to use the bathroom so I took him in and see a giant cockroach run across the floor under the freezer next to the kitchen!!! We told the waitress and she began to look behind the totes by the front window, it comes out and she stomped it. She seemed surprised it was there but if there are cockroaches freely running around in day light during business hours then they must be infested! We paid for our drinks and left! I believe they call the neighborhood the Tower District as they revitalize this area of Fresno. Friends suggested we go to the El Patio and boy are we thankful they did. The food and service were top notch as you casually ate on their patio, that the restaurant, during nice weather the walls are up and during the wet weather they drop the walls. It was a magical place with a small area selling small souvenirs. The food taste and quantity was well worth the money. The only issue that our party had was the sodas were flat out of the gun, not a deal breaker, but for sure would like to have had some bubbles. I will be back. read more

The only things this place really has going for it are the atmosphere, the bands that play, and the drinks. The drinks are good or at least look good for your social media pic, lol Unfortunately, the food and service were a different story. My daughter found a piece of sponge in her food on her plate. We brought it to the waitress's attention and she did not offer to remake the plate or reimburse us. The food overall is decent -- nothing horrible, but nothing that makes you say "oh, I need to come back just for that." The seating area is small, so expect to wait. Our meals did not come out at the same time -- we were halfway done eating while still waiting for my daughter's plate. I ordered menudo and it lacked salt and flavor, very bland. When it was first served, it was also missing the pata (pig foot), so they had to redo it. At one point I went to the restroom inside and could hear staff talking about another customer who was upset, making comments about it. That's when I realized it wasn't just us having a bad experience -- someone else was too. What's strange is that at the end of the meal they give you a "How did we do?" comment card. I filled it out and listed all of these issues, and management never reached out. The pros: they have great social media. The catchy drinks, bright colors, live bands -- it really makes it look like the place to be. Just know going in: keep it to drinks and appetizers. Don't expect fine dining, bold flavors, or home-cooked food like your aunt used to make. It's basic food with a lot of hiccups -- service issues, flavor issues, and yes... a piece of sponge in my food. Honestly, that plate should have been taken away immediately, remade, and we should have been reimbursed. Even if the waitress missed it, once I wrote everything on the comment card, management should have followed up. Hearing staff talk about another customer earlier made it clear the tone was very one-sided -- no accountability. I can only imagine what was said about our table and that comment card. I wouldn't purposely come back. If I end up here, it's drinks only. There are way better food spots in Fresno and Clovis. This place is all vibe and social media -- the food and service don't live up to the hype. read more
