They only seemed to have a limited number of brands in stock, and many of the same models instead of a good variety of guns. It's called Flat Top Arms, but a big portion of the store is wasted on hunting goods instead of guns and ammo. Ammo prices are high too, and limited selection -- they didn't even have .380 the day I went in except for hollow point that they wanted $6/box higher for than Shooter's Roost. Also annoying is that their guns are all in cases up front at the checkout areas where all the old guys stand behind... and then more old guys come in and just stand there leaning on the glass shooting the shit so you can't even look at half the guns. The staff doesn't even ask them to move so you can see guns you might want to buy. Poor management and high prices. No need for me to come back.

A collector himself, we discussed our collections and trends in older comics. His shoppe was a bit untidy as he just received a lot of new stock to display and while he was away for awhile, his old manager moved a lot of stuff around. But I had no problem browsing his stock. In the front area were lots of antique furniture and items. Around the store were displays of classic LP albums, huge stock of sports cards, figurines and action figures, toys, games, art, magazines, and comics. It was a great place to browse around and just feel the presence of the past in his displays. And be sure to pet his greeter, his very attendant dog. Barks but no bites. Check it out.

I visited the store while I was visiting my daughter in West Virginia. It was such a cute little…read moreboutique, out in the middle of nowhere and they sold women's clothing, purses, fiesta-wear, stickers, candles, and jewelry. I also learned that they teach stained glass class on the premises, which is actually very unique! The owners husband was the one teaching the class and he was also very nice and helpful in pointing out products. I found so many interesting things that I hadn't seen and I had a field day! I started following them on Facebook and ended up ordering a shirt from their site for my fiancé for his birthday. If you're anywhere near the area, stop by and check it out! I didn't think to take pics of the store itself but I did take pics along my drive there.

I used to frequent Flat Top Arms when I…read morefirst moved to this area but over time crew tired of the "good old boy" attitude there and being treated like a stranger or straight up ignored all the time even though I had purchased numerous firearms and plenty of ammo through them. Shooter's Roost and Eric on the other hand are always friendly, say hello, will chit chat if they have the time, and know what they are talking about when it comes to firearms. Something quite lacking with many of the staff at Flat Top. So Now Shooter's is my go-to LGS. Prices are always good and they won't gouge you like another place I know.

I went to Flat Top Arms the same day and price compared and Flat Top was $100-400 higher on all their guns. However, like most places, Shooter's Roost was WAY high on ammo. They didn't have much of certain types in stock, like .380. Had lots of other kinds though, so just depends on shipments I guess. But way high -- $20/box for 20 rounds whereas I can get similar types of the same ammo for $11/box of 50 rounds at Cabela's in Charleston. Worth the drive to Charleston for sure to get your ammo. The staff here is great; very friendly, easygoing and knowledgeable.
